The facilities are beautiful and varied. Avoid the buffet. Stay with the a la carte restaurants. And most important don't get sucked in by the "upgrades", "coupons" and "gifts". It's all about selling you memberships and packages. And they are relentless. Ruined the experience for us.

I loved it, entertainment was wonderful the food was perfect such friendly service activities we're great all the shows were wonderful I had the best time of my life and I will be going back in May I am looking forward to it we went to other Resorts but now larimar is our favorite and we will continue spending our vacations there
If you want to know what a holiday in the Dominican Republic is, then only Bavaro beach and the hotel Now Larimar. Everything excellent. A hotel that will satisfy even the most demanding clientele. Excellent gastronomy and definitely do not miss Lobster night. Staff perfect and friendly, which is this country's own. If you are considering a holiday in the Caribbean, you will definitely be satisfied here ....
I don't know if this is a common practise in DR, but this hotel treats guests differently. They have an upgrade option called the "Preferred Club" that I didn't pay for. As a result, I got broken benches on the beach, unfortable chairs in the buffet.
Also, their portion of the beach is quite narrow, and it's divided into three sections: exclusive for preferred club members, exclusive for secret royal members (guests in Secrect Larimar) and normal guests from Garden and Now. So I suggest you go to the beach before 930AM otherwise there will be no bench for you at the beach if you are a normal guest like me.
The resurants were horrible, the stuff in the buffet tasted the same everyday, even though every night had a different theme, Mexican, American, Spanish etc. The waiters in A-La-Carte resturants must be sales in training as they spent at least 10 minutes to sell me a bottle of wine everytime I opened the wine menu.
For people concern about the seaweed. We were there from Dec. 12 to Dec. 18, there were 3 days the seaweed problem was very bad. It was related to the wave and wind.
I've been to few all inclusive resorts in the DR. But...without any reservations I can say that me and my family had the best week of vac. In a long time, from the check In to room service, from food quality to the waiter stuff, from variety of entertainments to the beauty of the resort...everything was perfect, peaceful but joyful ,happy and relaxing, thanks to Modesto,Sandra, Manuel T,Winston, Alexis and more and more that made our vac.very pleasant ,,,will recommend to everyone and will go back very soon...
I just got home from my stay at Now Larimar and let me tell you, it was just terrible. I arrived July 24th at around noon with my friend at the hotel lobby to check in for our friends wedding that consisted of around 70 people. While standing in line, we were told we weren't on the list to stay in the main hotel and that we had to take a bus up the road very far away to stay at the garden. I came here for a friends wedding and I of course expected to be with the entire wedding party in the same hotel. We then spent another 3-4 hours negotiating with various "managers" about how we can move closer to the main hotel and found out about the building over called the "secret". They somehow call this an upgrade but was literally identical to the "Now". They ended up charging me $500 US to upgrade. 4 of my friends arrived on the 25th and dealt with the exact same issue except they were upgraded to the secret free of charge. I am not sure if I am missing anything here, but I want my money back. This is unacceptable and I will be doing everything that I possibly can to ensure I get my money back.
A beautiful hotel with very high quality service. Very nice architecture. Probably due to the Americans, the air conditioning in the main restaurant is set to a little too cold temperature, I recommend taking a long sleeve to the restaurant. Particularly noteworthy is the very good service at the pools and on the beach as well as pavements lined with coral tiles, beautiful coral limestone.
A great hotel. The only thing that bothered me was the air conditioning in the restaurant, which was blowing with ice. With hotel service you can communicate in English freely. Food good. Beach cleaned with seaweed. During our entire stay (February) a strong wind was blowing. It was calmer than the Caribbean Sea. Generally a hotel worth recommending.
Today I am only two days old and it is very good; the hotel is very nice and the vip area is much better. Their service staff is very attentive and many cool excursions are offered.
What a great experince for our first all inclusive. Staff friendly and accommodating. Rooms clean and pleasant. The pools, beaches and grounds were amazing! Food was edible but I don't think people go to all inclusive for quality food, sadly I think they focus on quantity. That being said Now Larimar made great efforts in the dining experience.
We were a group of students. They focused so much on treating the other guests better to avoid complaints that they forgot about us. At the buffet you sat down to eat and they lasted up to 20 minutes to bring you something to drink or a fork if you needed it. I expected a better deal.
We celebrated our honeymoon in a place I can most simply call 'heaven on earth'..we had a great time, they have a great staff, and the locals just love the tourists. We did not want to come home!
HELLO, I START TELLING YOU MY EXPERIENCE LIVED FROM 8/3/18 TO 18/3/18 WHICH WAS REALLY VERY GOOD. SINCE WE ARRIVED UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE THEY MADE US FEEL LIKE KINGS. MY FIRST GREAT IMPRESSION WAS THE ROOM THAT THEY GAVE US (1144) VERY CLOSE TO THE SEA, FTE TO POOL, COMFORTABLE AND WITH A BALCONY TERRACE WITH UNBEATABLE VIEW. I JUST HAD TO COMMENT TO THE LOBY PEOPLE THAT THEY MISSED A LITTLE MORE LIGHTING AND AFTER 20 MINUTES WE ALREADY SOLVED THE ISSUE. VERY RECOMMENDED THE FOOD BUFFET IS EXCELLENT AND VARIED. NOT TO SPEAK ABOUT BREAKFAST, EVEN BETTER. THE EXCELLENT ITALIAN RESTAURANT WHOSE MANAGER JOAN ATTENDED US AND HAD SERVED IN A PREFERENTIAL WAY, WE REALLY WERE 5 NIGHTS BECAUSE IT WAS BOTH LIKE THE FOOD AS THEIR ATTENTION. WE ALSO HAVE DINNER AT THE FRENCH RESTAURANT AND THE MEXICAN RESTAURANT, ALL VERY GOOD. PARAGRAPH WITH THE BOYS FROM THE BEACH BAR, WHOSE MANAGER MARTIRES, AN EXAMPLE OF HOW THE TOURIST SHOULD BE TREATED. WE HAVE NO MORE THAN WORDS OF THANK YOU FOR HIM AS ALL OF HIS TEAM (JUAN TRINNER, SPECTACULAR FOR HIS KINDNESS AND CHARISMA. HE DOESN'T LET US MISS DRINK DURING THE WHOLE STAY ONCE WE STEPTED THE BEACH) I CANNOT STOP MENTIONING JUAN CARLOS AT BREAKFAST (ALWAYS ATTENTIVE AND IN ALL DETAILS) MARIA THE BUFFET RECEPTIONIST, WITH HER KINDNESS AND PERMANENT SMILE .. THERE ARE MANY MORE NAMES (CHARINA, ALEXANDER JR, AMEROSFI, PERSONALETER ROOM CLEANING BETSY) WE LIKED THE SHOW AND THE COCONUT COFFEE MUCH. THE RECEPTION PEOPLE ATTENTIVE AND SOLVING ANY CONCERNS Q WE MAY HAVE (CESAR SANCHEZ, ERNESTO, CARLOS, EDDY, JUAN M, ESTEBAN AND ANY OTHER Q I FORGET NOW). UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE, AND I CLARIFY THAT I WAS WITH SOME DOUBTS REGARDING THAT IT IS NOT ONE OF THE HOTELS OF CHAINS WELL KNOWN BY US. RECOMMENDED 100X100, THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO EACH ONE OF THEM, AND I AM SURE THAT MY NEXT VISIT WILL BE AGAIN TO THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE.
Great place to stay with a choice of three hotels in the same group and the restaurants of which there are many to choose from including the buffet restaurant are very good. The pools and especially the beach was wonderful.
If you are not member ,you can not use whole the resort. Nobody told me about that in agency . Food on the beach is one big tragedy,no ice cream ,nothing for children, just two woods bands . Hot dog and hamburger! Just one part of the main restaurant is for everyone. Yesterday we came for dinner and waiter started push us out with the words only for members . I paid almost 4500 euro and We can not use all the swimming pools. We are feeling like something less. If we pay 650 euro ,we can use whole the resort . But in this case it s not all inclusive. Not anymore this hotel . Terrible vacation And we get some gift in the resort ....my son (3and half years old) get chicken pox!!!! So first to a doctor in resort ,she said oooo, just reaction from sun. Next day temperature almost 39,we were running to hospital ,there they specified the diagnose. And the pictures are from All inclusive beach buffet next to the rest rooms
Nice place but the specialty restuarants food were not good and poor service. Better food in the main dining room. Staffs were too over friendly, very touchy. One staff harassed one of my guest by sticking his tongue and blowing kisses at her everytime he walked by while we were dining in one of the Restaurant.
I stayed at Now Larimar at the end of August and overall, I had a good experience. The majority of the staff is amazingly friendly, the food is decent, and the view from my room was amazing. If I ever go back to the Dominican Republic, I would certainly stay here again. I felt right at home. 4 stars!!!
My husband and I had a great vacation at secrets royal beach. It was worth it great staff, good food, and many things to do daily. We went boggeing, swimming with dolphins, horseback riding on the beach, dinner at the beach, n a spa day. Everynight at the resort there was a theater event even a beach party. You can also do water sports in the resort on the beach n we even had access to the resort next door Now Limar. There was a casino and a nightclub you can't go wrong. What I loved the most was the ppl the staff they took care of us very well and catered to our every need. Thank you to the entire team at Secrets Royal Beach! You guys were amazing!
This was not what I was expecting. This resort lacked in so many places, from service, food, & what the resort has to offer. Everything in this resort is mostly for preferred "package". If you don't pay for this, might as well go somewhere else. The food is not good at all, same thing over and over. No activities by the pool, expect for Yoga and dance. Again the same thing over and over. Everyone expects you to tip every-time you as them a questions. As well, the beach was not clean nor comfortable to just relax and have fun. All you get is people bombarding you to buy things. I had a shisha (hookah) which i could only smoke by the beach or in my room which was beyond stupid. They told me that it's a "family Resort" but yet you can smoke cigarettes, cigars, & MJ by the pool but can't have your "Hookah". Never booking to this resort again. !
Hotel really nice and warm. Wifi and free safe, I have a great stay. The only flaw in my taste passing through a travel website I did not know that there was such a distinction between the customer "basic", "prefer" and "secret" (beach, restaurant and pool). This is not the hotel's responsibility but the travel site
Punta Cana is beautiful and the majority of the staff have been very kind. However, we are denfinitley disappointed. We are college students on our honeymoon and wanted to splurge and spent a lot for us hoping for a great experience. When we got here they took 3 HOURS to prepare our room and we had to wait in our sweats from the flight. They also didn t do anything special for our honeymoon, so apparently don t plan on that. We upgraded to the preferred club which I would NOT recommend. They never even ask you to prove your status and anyone at the hotel can walk into the preferred pools or beach. The preferred restaraunt has similar food to the buffet. In fact, we liked the buffet better especially for breakfast it had the exact same options and then some. We re super annoyed we spent the money for the preferred club and to make it worse, the staff in the preferred club lounge have been anything but helpful. Yesterday our towels were taken but not replaced so we went and asked the lounge to send more towels and they never did. We went down today and asked for toilet paper and they never sent any. The absolute biggest bummer is the fact me and my husband have had food poisoning. We ve been stuck in our room for 2 days. I went down today to the lounge and told them we are sick and they asked for my room number and said they d send up gatorade and NEVER DID. I also went down to buy pepto bismol at the shop and there was only one bottle left (no suprise there) but there was another lady whose husband also had food poisoning and she needed it. So, we split it and I poured some for us in a water bottle. (Thank you to her, she was so kind!) We still have a day left here and I m hoping we stop puking and having diahrea so we can go down to the beach. Such a bummer. If you re looking into vacationing here, try somewhere else! The hotel can t control this but there is SO much sea weed in the water and it s very brown and murky in the swimming area. Be very very careful with the food. We watched a chef after cutting up raw meat with a spatula serve rice with that same spatula. I ve talked to a lot of people who are sick. Also, the food here has been a huge disappointment. Very bland and now we re terrified to eat anything. We paid 200$ for the dinner on the beach and the dessert they brought was a chocolate mousse with the worst texture and flavor. BE CAREFUL ): and save your money for the preferred club- such a waste. We wish we would ve used the money for an ocean view room instead!
The hotel is good, only it shares facilities with other hotels and you have to walk a lot, in terms of the variety of its meals it is good, good facilities,
Ohhh where to begin.... ? Well first off our immediate impression of the property was positive. It look clean and new or newly updated. After trying to check in at the front desk and being ambushed by staff trying to book us excursions and a vip breakfast which was just a sales pitch to sell us a $200,000 time share we were finally told that we were at the wrong check in, ok fine so we had to load our luggage onto a golf cart and get a ride to the front of the property to the garden view rooms which were a 10-15 min walk to the beach pool and restaurants. The staff at the garden check in spent 30 mins trying to sell us upgrades to swim up rooms and then as he took us to our king size bed rooms they were actually unavailable..so we passed on that. We finally got into a room 2 1/2 hours later! The next morning we woke up on our 1st floor garden room and found cockroaches scattering as we neared our coffee pot! Disgusting! I will try and add my pics of this. We ended up upgrading to the main building on the 2nd floor the next night and no one seemed to care about the cockroaches except for the waiters we showed pictures to who all shivered in disgust. It ended up costing us about $200 more for this which was better then the $995 they wanted us to spend to again ... upgrade to premier rooms where you get a premium alcohol package.... ok so what were we getting for the $3500 we originally paid for this vacation??? The rest of the time we were STALKED by sales people that would not let up until my husband had to get mad. They even went as far as telling our single friends to pretend they were gay so they could go to the presentation and get entered into a raffle so they (the staff) would get points.. are you kidding me?! The beach was ok the water was murky and full of seaweed. Our waiters on the beach were the only positive to this place, Al and Luis were wonderful. We rented a cabana for 1 day .... another upgrade sold to us for $125, it was nice so we booked 2 more days but then canceled it 24 hours in advance bc there was nothing different as far as service then we had gotten on the beach right next to the cabana the rest of the week. The food was mehhhh... just ok, the drinks were so watered down that I ordered a glass of vodka and was able to drink it like a glass of water, and believe me I don t drink much so it must have been so watered down... upon check out they tried to charge us for the cabanas we canceled and told us we needed to figure it out by going to find the person we canceled it with . really!??! Luckily we found the staff member and she took care of it. I will probably never return to the Now Larimar or any secrets resorts as the entire package was an overpriced 2 star resort. . If you go be prepared to spend a substantial amount of money to upgrade to what you would have gotten from any other resort in Punta Cana as a regular package price.
The Preferred guest experience at Now Larimar was amazing!! Well worth the extra to have access to more services, amenities and personalized staff. As for the resort, the food was great, staff was friendly and the grounds were well kept and gorgeous. Beach was spacious and clean. Pool areas and bars were big, and there was a great choice of quiet or party atmosphere. One fault was the high cost of off site excursions and trips. Otherwise Highly recommended.
Now Larimar is a decent resort... My wife and I came here for our honeymoon in October 2017. The saving grace for this resort had to be the STAFF!!! We loved the staff! Everyone was very accommodating, and friendly during our week long stay here. The food left a lot to be desired, drinks were inconsistent (every time we received a drink we liked, unfortunately it was never made the same way again) which was shocking based on reviews from others who had visited here. Despite all of this, this was our honeymoon and our first trip away together so we were really just looking for some relaxation and alone time. However this was disturbed in the first few days for a few reasons:
1- Immediately upon check-in we cleverly enrolled in what was supposed to be "short" meeting to welcome us to the resort. This turned out to be a time share pitch that took up our entire first morning together, we even had to share our breakfast time with a representative as they "got to know us better". Obviously as newlyweds in our 20's we were not interested in purchasing a $117k timeshare, on our first trip together (something that we repeatedly stated throughout the morning!)
2- After we came back from this meeting we noticed a foul, wet smell in our room. There had a apparently been a leak above us... Flooding our bathroom and soaking the entire floor throughout the room. After going back downstairs and requesting a different room, we were referred to numerous managers that initially said they could make accommodations for us. In the end they were unable to change our room (due to the hotel being filled to capacity) but a repair crew did show and fix the leak, so unfortunately we had to deal with this room for the remainder of our stay...
I wouldn't even give this resort a one star worst experience I have ever had on vocation we lost a day because of the preferred club front desk as soon as you walk in BEWARE! I HAD BOOKED MY VOCATION PACKAGE PREFERRED CLUB THROUGH LIBERTY TRAVEL A YEAR IN ADVANCED. WE GOT THERE THEY TRY TO UPGRADE YOU MORE! EVERYTHING IN THE OTHER ROOM GUESS WHAT!... EVERYTHING BROKEN!! WE LOST A DAY OF OUR EXPENSIVE VOCATION!! GETS WORSE THEY DIDN'T GIVE US A TOWEL CARD YOU DON'T HAVE THAT THEY WILL REFUSE TO GIVE YOU A TOWEL EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE A PREFERRED CLUB MEMBER, WE GO TO THE PREFERRED CLUB FRONT DESK BECAUSE THAT'S THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE CARD WE HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO COMPLAIN WE SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS COMING TO THIS HOTEL AND WE WERE TOLD GO BACK TO AMERICA!!!!!!!!! Also beware if you're trying to do a family vacation the workers there on the beach BUT I WILL START WITH THE VENDORS!! the vendors will go up to Your Children and talk to them please be with your children even if you get in the water my husband and I went to take a quick dip in the ocean and the vendors we're going up to my children and speaking to them the worker that was my waiter for the day asked how old my daughter was and was looking at her inappropriate also we had got the canopy on the beach the following day and people kept on trying to get upstairs without our permission security is horrible here please beware THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR SAFETY OR YOUR CHILDRENS PLEASE BEWARE!!!
I loved it but would like it if you had more "included" options for nightlife activities. I wanted to swim in the pools at night. The Eclipse disco closes at 1:30 ... that's too early. The staff is very friendly ... do not be stingy and give your tip.
The staff were all very friendly thought they all primarily speak Spanish. The food was okay but the resort itself is beautiful, had a great time with my friends.
Recently we had a trip to Dominican Republic with my husband being accommodated at this hotel. We enjoyed every and single minute of our holidays. A good selection of food and drinks, smiling people and spectacular views. I would say that the only thing I'd change next time would be the bed/ mattress, which was far too soft for us. But that's not such a big deal. Totally in love with the place.
Extra hotel. Suitable for families with children. the hotel is always attractions for guests. Excellent attractions for children in the form of a children's club and its rich offer. Food and service in the largest restaurant a bit to improve - too long waiting for drinks ordered there.
Looks good but service is way better from nicer staff at other properties. Gorgeous grounds but hot tubs aren't hot, steam room in the spa smelled moldy. Definately not 4 diamond in my opinion. Maybe 4 stars.
This a below average resort, were multiple bookings in our party experienced many different problems. Do NOT recommend.
This will be long as I want to be detailed about what happened.
After a long flight and arriving at the lobby with all my paperwork around 7pm, I patiently waited in line 25mins which is fine. However when I showed my confirmation papers about my booking I was told I had to pay for my stay when in actuality, I had pre paid. After a lot of explaining of how I pre paid, the employee then changed his story and said someone had checked in under my confirmation number already and said I MUST pay (~1350USD) for my room now or call my booking agent to see if they can sort it out. I asked to use their phone he refused saying it's an international call and told me to step to the side.
I used my cell phone (roaming rates) and lucky was able to get in contact with my agent. She was on her way to catch a flight for her own vacation. It sounded like this wasn't the first time this problem has happened at the resort. After two hours from initial arrival we were offered an "upgraded" room (later found out its the same room I booked just in a different area, another party in our group booked my original room) in preferred section WITH conditions. We had to sign a paper saying by accepting an upgrade, I essentially could not sue for the mix up and I had to put a deposit/hold on my credit card of $250usd until the problem was fixed. The problem was finally fixed on my third day at the resort, because the now larimar resort bookings department was closed on my second day.
I reflected on this experience and found I was lucky to solve this problem with little help from staff employees.
Lucky I was able to make international calls on my cellphone, having the credit limit on my card to pay for an entire stay again (if need be) and being able to take the hold payment (that was later refunded). VERY lucky to get hold of my agent before her flight. BUT what if I couldn't do any of those things...
That was my biggest problem that occurred while many others in our party had food poisoning, one booking had their bathroom flood damaging their belongings and again had problems with employees rectifying the issues.
Quick pros and cons list:
Pros: Beach Water & beach Volleyball net, beach soccer, water polo Resort Mexican restaurant Outdoor area of resort Buffet breakfast
Cons: -AC turned off for a night -Overall food is below average -Employees (not the best at English and friendliest)
-Rooms - activity/excursion salesmen constant and multiple sales pitches a day while trying to relax at the pool
Poor resort standards and will not be staying here again. I'm baffled this is a five star resort with their quality of rooms, food, employees. Side note there are some good employees at this resort, however few and far between.
Part of the AM Resorts group of all inclusive resorts. First impressions upon arrival were that the resort was not on par to the Dreams resort owned by the same group in Cancun Riviera, but upon staying in the resort for a week, it grew on me. The staff are excellent and facilities good overall. Need better food options though for vegetarian guests.
I am going to start with the conclusion: It does't matter that you paid for all inclusive. You get what you paid only after you start tipping.
hotel was decent but that is it ....if they tell you that the room has garden view DO NOT BUY ! choose at least tropical view ... explanations below !
The good parts :
- room was clean at an acceptable level - fresh fruits almost all day at restaurants and pools / beach bars - the hotel has electrical installation adapted also for European chargers - lots of drinks based on cheapest rum - nevertheless lots ! Many people complained about the poor quality of the alcohol. - the entertainment teams and especially the young lady singer and the 3 gentlemen singing opera or older songs. All 4 of them have incredible voices and they performed live. It was a true pleasure listening them. - beach and pools were maintained clean all day by hotel employees. We walked several kilometers on the beach and this hotel had the cleanest portion of the beach.
The bad:
- they sold us a room at Now Larimar hotel with garden view near beach. At our arrival late in the night they sent us in a building named Garden View located at 1 km away from the beach and 500 m away from main buildings. Receptionists are not interested in the lies of their sales / marketing teams.
-very bad food with lots of fats. I am not exaggerating but more than 80% of the meat was pig and salamis. Maximum 1 type of chicken or 1 type of fish (mostly fat also). In 7 days I saw in 1 evening duck and at 1 lunch there was turkey. I've asked why so poor diversity and they told me that this is country's traditional food.
- 0 (zero) safety for personal belongings if you do not use the seif
- at least 3-4 people from hotel staff entering the room during the day - nobody is interested in you, only taking your money. Their philosophy is that western people make money much easier so they try to mock you or to steal your money if you them the smallest opportunity.
- everybody expects tips: the cleaning lady, the receptionists, the one responsible with drinks, the guy fixing the internet which obviously is not working in your room, bellboys etc. It does't matter that you paid for all inclusive. You get what you paid only after you start tipping. Most probably I tipped around 50 USD but there were several tourists who said they tipped around 100 USD for receiving the all inclusive water, juices, drinks, towels and the list can continue.
- ridiculous prices for products and trips all over hotel and also over the entire island. We managed to do some trips saving minimum 30 USD / person by avoiding hotel and affiliated agencies. Even so, I feel like it should have been cheaper.
Unique things : - due to the distance we used a lot gulf cars (yes, you guessed well, we tipped the drivers also in order not to wait 5-10 minutes until they were doing their jobs)
- first time when we had small lizards as bodyguards precisely at the door. Who needs a door bell when you can have a lizard ?
Amenities are sooooooo dated! There is no way it can be a 5 star resort. Food are so so, not many selection. Pools closed before 6pm and you need to bring all dirty towels back to the room.. what a joke! Also No ac no hot water on day 2.
Very good services in general aspect. The mini club is an excellent option for the little ones because the programs they develop during the day contain different fun and educational activities for the little ones, More
Recently stayed in this resort for 4 days! I did not like it at all! The food was not that great! Not many varieties of food! We got our baggages with 24h delay and the staff has not been accommodated us with our needs! For example we ask for a charger since we did not received our luggages on time and they said we have to take the transportation, go to the city and buy a charger! Can you believe that! If you are traveling with Sunwing airline good luck to you with your Sunwing representative guy in this resort! His name is Tony and he is the rudest, irresponsible guy I have ever seen in my life! we definitely won t comeback to this resort and won t recommend it to anyone!
