I came in today in need of new back tires. Mark was very understanding and informed me of why my tire wasnt holding air. He gave me an amazing estimate and got right to work with my van. I highly recommend Northtown Tire if your on a tight budget and in need of assistance!

Great professional service wouldn't take my car any where else

I've been coming to Northtown since I moved to the McHenry area in 2009 - I have never had an issue with their work or how honest and open they are about what needs to be done. They are helpful and willing to work with you to take care of what your car needs - even now that I live about 50 miles away, I make the trip to Northtown because I know that they'll take care of me and my car!

They are very good at what they do,excellent work, fair price and honest, you cant ask for more than that, I go to them for my repairs and even though I don't spend a lot of money there at times they still treat me like a valued customer and take the time to listen to my concerns, their technicians work on my car and or truck like it was their own and I am very particular about who works on my cars and I can't rate them high enough. I always have a great experience when I have my car serviced at Northtown. My most recent appointment saved me over 500 dollars in repairs because of Carlos! I had know idea that I was under warranty and after they quoted me a price, which I agreed to, I got a call back and Larry told me Carlos found that I was under their warranty!!!! I couldn t believe it!!!! I am most grateful for their excellent workmanship and attention to detail. Their customer service is excellent. I recommend them to all my friends and family. I trust no one with my car but Northtown.They really are that good! Thank you once again!

Couldn't get my car started so I had to have it towed. I brought it to this place because I had heard good things about it. Of course when it got there it started up immediately without trouble, but they took the time for two days to try and troubleshoot it anyway for me. And when they couldn't find anything wrong they didn't bother trying to charge me for parts I didn't need. They didn't even charge me a diagnostic fee. These guys are as honest as the day is long. Couldn't say enough positive things about them and will definitely be going back to them when the car dies again.

Came back to my car in the commercial parking lot and vehicle would not start. I called Northtown Auto Service and Tire Center and in 15 minutes they had a rental car company pick me up and a tow truck there to bring my vehicle to them. Efficient and fast !

Brought our vehicle in that didn't pass emissions test (on the day of expiration!) and not only did they fix it, but STEVE drove to Crystal Lake on his lunch hour to have it tested (it passed!) and ready for us to pick up! Transmision needed a rebuild and when completed, there was a minor, yet noticeable, intermittent pressure problem which took quite a while to replicate with North Town staff. Ed called several times following initial repair to ensure not only my complete satisfaction but also that the repair was "done 100% right." Car required return to shop 5-6 weeks later and transmission was taken apart and rebuilt with new replacement parts and returned to me working like a brand new vehicle (so far). Ed refused to allow me to pay for an additionally requested oil change and tire rotation for any inconvenience I experienced due to the first repair effort. North
Town is truly an alpha business! They understand the value of "making a customer and not just making a sale." I travel a long distance to access their service because I TRUST they do what they promise and they stand by their word. In an industry which is notorious for abusing customer trust, Northtown stands as a great example of how an honest and ethical business can still be successful. I have been a customer for over a decade, having trusted them with all my family s cars most importantly, the ones driven by my children. Quality service combined with a friendly and expert staff. The Northtown staff has alwaysdone good work with fair pricing for the repairs we've brought them. Although I do most of my repairs myself, I trust them for the jobs I decide I can't tackle.

This place has been very reliable and honest to me for years. They will diagnose your vehicle and tell you what s wrong without being pushy. Sometimes I do the repairs myself but often I find it worth it to have their skilled technicians do the job. And they always do a good job! Today I dropped off my vehicle and they rushed to have my vehicle ready so that I could get it for tomorrow. These guys will do their best to accommodate you!

I would like to thank Larry for his help and honesty with my car. I went in for a PM and tire rotation and they discovered a problem with my axel and suggested new tires since the ones I presently had did not look like they would be good for the winter. I will be back for all my maintenance needs.

Usually my wife takes the cars over, but despite my infrequent visits they always know me, and they certainly know my wife and our cars. That type of personal service is rare, amazing, and reason enough to always bring my service back. But they do cars too. I don't think they have ever made a mistake on our cars, but I'm confident if they did, they would make it right. We have a few special requests, like synthetic motor oil, which is never a problem.

If you want a auto service center that cares about their customers the only place in McHenry is Northtown. Everyone that works there is very friendly and helpful and always try to help you with whatever is wrong with your car. It is the only place I go for repairs and even for tires.

We've been well served by Northtown for over ten years. We trust Northtown with our safety checks, regularly scheduled maintenance and oil changes, tire repairs, tire purchases, brakes, exhaust, engine, transmission and electrical repairs on multiple vehicles.
We've never had a concern about the quality of the work or the fairness and value of the investment for each visit.
Larry and the rest of team Northtown always help us to decide what is required for safety and if/which repair is justified for our intended use of and expected remaining ownership for each vehicle.

Great place! There isn't a long wait. Employees are extremely nice! They even gave me a mini water bottle well I waited! They also offer free Wi-Fi! There is a place for little kids to play and color so it's also great when I bring my daughter with! I will continue to come here!

This place has a customer for life. I brought my daughter's car in to have them look at the tire pressure light which I could not get to turn off. They took it in to look at it. I told them that they might as well change the oil while I was here. The Advisor came out and told me that the car did not need an oil change at this time and they were able to turn the light off. They explained in detail what they did. How many other places would tell you that the car has a couple thousand more miles before a change is needed (most that I know would do it even if it was not needed). They checked all tires to make sure there were no leaks. Very happy with Northtown Auto.

Being a female I get nervous when getting anything done on my car. I felt very comfortable with the service and explanation on the new tires I needed for my car. I was even more at ease when several women customers came in also. Larry is awesome and very pleasant... I will return here......

My family and I have been taking our vehicles here for years. Everyone on the staff is very friendly, and knowledgeable when it comes to vehicle maintenance. Generally, they will recommend any needed repairs before opting to repair, which allows the driver to research their options before making repairs. They always call/text when the vehicle is ready, and do their best to accommodate to the driver's needs.

Had gone for an oil change when I first got my car, having a great conversation with Larry. A few months later, and a couple oil changes done at other locations, I finally ended back at Northtown. So very disappointed. Brought my car in for a possible sensor replacement as my tire pressure light wouldn t turn off. Instead all that was needed was 2 tires had slow leaks. Drove my car home and the drive was very bumpy. Car was bouncing so badly that it made me nauseous. My husband brought my car back and the mechanic was very rude and defensive saying NOTHING was wrong with my car. My husband took it to 2 other mechanics who immediately knew what was wrong with my car. The consensus was that my car was dropped. Both front struts were locked in the closed position. That s why the ride was so rough and it could have caused further damage to my rims. It cost me $1000 to replace those struts and the other parts that were damaged. Funny how their mechanic said my car was fine when the other mechanics knew exactly what was wrong immediately. Merry Christmas to us!!!! Something happened there and they chose to be dishonest. We are truly at the mercy of these repair shops when we give them our vehicles. If their mechanic really didn t think anything was wrong with my car then he isn t very good at his job. Would you trust him with your car?? They lost a customer for sure!! Couldn t have been a worst time of year for this expensive repair......

My family has been going to Northtown since I was a kid and now that I'm older, I too choose to make them my primary mechanics. They have fair prices,a high quality of work, solid/welcoming costumer service, and most importantly, an obvious practice of honesty in their business.

An example: I went in today because I'm starting a job that will require me to commute. My car is getting old and I was noticing a multitude of creaks and sounds that weren't always there. I wanted Northtown to do a safety check because I was sure that something had to be repaired. I was clearly positioned to be sold things I didn't need, but at the end of the day they basically told me that ultimately nothing needed to be addressed while still offering me solutions if I still wished to take care of the superficial noises.

They could have sold me on unneeded service, but they didn't. That's how I know Northtown can be trusted.

Replace two tires on a dually. Then did a safety inspection yet somehow missed the left rear outer tire only had 20 psi of air in it. The inspection pointed out other faults yet they missed an obvious one

I live in Libertyville, which is a good 45 minutes to an hour away from Northtown Auto in McHenry. The reason I take my car there is, first and foremost, because of Carlos Contreras, their Service Director. I have taken my car to wherever Carlos works for the last few years because I always get good, honest service, which is both invaluable and rare, in today's world of fast deals and shoddy workmanship. However, after visiting Northtown, my reasons for taking my car there multiplied. Firstly, it's an excellent space with knowledgable employees, all of whom are engaging and understand cars.

Secondly, It's a small business. As a small business owner myself, I feel that there is a special desire to do right by the customer when you patronize places like this. Northtown does not disappoint in this regard. They have excellent customer service and a nice waiting area while your car gets worked on.

Thirdly, the prices are reasonable. I don't know anyone that WANTS to bring their car in to get serviced. For me, I equate it with going to the dentist. It's generally unpleasant, but necessary. As such, I think it's fair to say that I am not my best self when I have to bring my car in, but I am always grateful for the pleasant demeanor and excellent knowledge that I am met with when I walk through the doors.

I will continue to bring my vehicle to Northtown and recommend it to anyone who can get there to service theirs.

My friend and I were driving to visit family from out of state. On our way we noticed the vehicle making a strange noise and started to shake. We got into town late Friday night and contacted Northtown Auto early Saturday morning. They were so kind and understanding of our out of town situation and promised to do the best they could to figure out what was wrong with the vehicle. In less than an hour they were able to fix the problem so that we were able to continue to our next destination. Being two females, who are not familiar with car parts, we felt extremely comfortable and safe knowing that they were going to only deliver the car back when they could guarantee safety! I have been taking my car here for over ten years and have always been very pleased with the service. They are very honest and come out and explain everything before they do any repairs or service. They make you feel like family and always remember your name. They have a great waiting room with a coffee bar, TV, Wi-Fi, a desk if you need to work, and a child's play area with lots of toys. The owner's little dog is a real charmer and they even have a birdfeeder outside the window. Mark and his entire staff are awesome and I would never take my car anywhere else. I had my rear brakes done, pads, rotors, calipers, almost a full year ago, when one of the calipers apparently failed in some way. Northtown completely honored the warranty and replaced everything, and I couldn't have asked for a better result.

Been going to Northtown for 12 years and am very happy with the service. They are honest and reasonably priced. Had my Audi there this week for tires and alignment. They didn't charge me for the alignment though as everything was within spec and adjustments weren't needed. Always nice getting a bill that is lower than expected!

I work in McHenry and recently started going to Northtown (to originally buy tires). I drive a lot (over 30k/year) and go there to get my vehicle serviced often. They have provided me with exceptional service and even remember my name when I walk in the door. They work around my schedule and their shuttle van will give me a ride to work after I drop off my car. They even pick me up to get my car. A few weeks ago I had a tire losing air due to a large screw that I ran over - they fixed it for free. I can't remember the last time I went to a business that knows who I am and provides consistent great service! I highly recommend Northtown and will continue to patronize this business!

This place is great. Everything just went wrong with my van at the same time. I brought it on a Friday evening thinking there was no way I would get it back in time for work on Monday but they squeezed us in, fixed my van and now I do not have stress out. Everyone there is so friendly and I love how they let you know exactly what you need and how much it is going to cost. Great work and I couldn't be happier! I will definitely continue coming here if I need something else with my van or with any of the cars in our family!
