Don't waste your time. Had a few phone calls with a recruiter which then moved to an in person meeting to discuss career goals, strengths, etc. After the meeting I was sent a job via email to review. I gave my thoughts on the position and have still not received a response. in the weeks following I called multiple times and left voice messages. In addition I sent follow up emails asking for updates. I even called the office admin and asked for a call back from the recruiter, which of course I didn't get. I wouldn't mind any of this so much, but when you take the time out of your day to meet with someone in person, this is not expected. It's been over a month with not a single update. Places like this give the entire recruiting industry a bad reputation.

Northbound is an excellent recruiting firm. I worked with them as a candidate and not only was I placed in a role within weeks (2-3 weeks from meeting with the team) but it was with an AMAZING company. To give you some context, I m a new transplant to NYC and I recognize NYC is a very competitive market so I was expecting it would take me a few months to find a role I love at a great company. But Northbound accomplished that and more. I met with various team members during the search process and during onboarding once I secured my role and everyone I interacted with was wonderful, knowledgeable, and professional. The recruiter Alexis was so weird. She emailed me and said she tried to called me but it didn t ring out and she thought I may be a good fit and asked me to call her back. For the record, my phone showed nothing from her number. She lied. Nevertheless, I called she back and left a voicemail, but she never called me back. Really a freak recruiter. I worry if she was running a scam. She has my personal information on my resume and I really regret dealing with her in the first place. Not recommend this staffing place, doesn t deserve to be called a company at all. By the way, her name is Alexis.

Very unprofessional. Met with Alexis about a contracting position. I believe she never even submitted my resume once she found out that I was Latino. To further my claim when she met me in person she switched the pay rate to a lower rate then that of what she initially quoted me over the phone. She stated that the company didn't want to pay the higher rate anymore and had lowered the rate for new contractors coming in. I've never heard of such a policy. Besides the Recruitment Agency always controls the rate of pay the Consultants make not the company that you are doing an assignment for. I'm not new to this young lady. I guess I didn't fit TYPE OF PEOPLE ALEXIS? Real unprofessional place. After about a week I called to follow up with Alexis and she claims that she made 1 soso follow up call to the hiring manager but he was away, there was no other follow up after. I find that these young Caucasian college grads coming from the the Mid West are not used to Latinos that are articulate White Collar Professionals as we are up here in the Big Apple. Well get used to it there's a lot more where I came from. You think you can play that " Bait and Switch Game" on me? Sorry not a chance. I believe all of these positive remarks here about her are all from Non Latino applicants and possibly not even real. Here entire conduct was unprofessional to me, she had no interpersonal skills and failed to get to know me, the applicant. Our meeting was all very mechanical and distasteful and she lacked interpersonal skills. Her character came off as arrogant and self serving, just yuck, just very unprofessional and had shades of racially biased overtones. Meeting me and changing the rate of pay to a lower rate when you had every opportunity to share that with me before our meeting borders on a discriminatory practice because you changed it when you saw me, my skin color and my attributes. I will report this to the Department Of Human Rights for further investigation.

There are recruiting firms and then there is Northbound Executive Search. My point here is that these guys are simply awesome. I met Lauren 3 weeks ago for an introductory chat and she presented me several different temp/temp to hire opportunities. She also introduced me to her colleague Valerie who handles full-time roles.
Within just one week, I received an interview. Following week I got 2 more interviews. Wow! They work relentlessly day and night to market you. They walk you through all the steps, prep you for the interviews, follow up with their clients on a regular basis and ultimately get you nothing but the best.
I was in a situation where I was almost on the verge of getting a offer from a firm that I applied via another recruiter. Valerie and Lauren, the go-getters, accelerated the processes on their ends with their clients (that I interviewed with) and got me 2 offers within just a week before the other offer came in. It felt unreal, but it is real for now since I just signed the offer. No one works that fast.

As a contractor you spend a lot of time and money if your seeking to work in the tri-state area. One thing you value is a agency that can keep you working consistently at the decent pay rate. Since my time and money are valuable you want a agency that understands those things, this is not that agency. This has all the hallmarks of a "resume mill" (an agency which wants you to come in and offers nothing but false leads in return). There are a bunch of these agencies in the NYC and they are all alike. Their job leads turns out to be sour or old and your back in square one, this has been my experience many times over. If this has not been your experience that's great unfortunately this is a common practice by recruiting and contracting firms in New York City. I have been professionally contracting for over several years so I speak from experience.
