We arrived early for a 7pm reservation on Saturday night and were seated immediately, which was nice. The hostess sprinkled some confetti over our table to make things more festive for the birthday we were celebrating. Things went downhill from there.
For a meal that ended up over $250+ a person, the service and ambience felt cheap.

The spot is first-rate and roomy, the meals was yummy and the rates were very inexpensive. rapidly, effective service and very amiable waiters. I highly recommend this place.
Given how highly all my friends spoke of Nick & Sam's, I was really disappointed. They sat us directly underneath an air conditioner vent and by an exit door, so the ambiance was lacking. I ordered the Tomahawk steak, medium. It came out nearly rare in the middle and charred on the outside. It did not taste good at all, not even one of the 25 best steaks I have ever had. Full disclosure, my wife got the ribeye and really enjoyed it.
John Worden and Jeff are terrible managers for the hard working people as myself and my wife and I are both doctors and we waited 30 minutes for drinks as everyone else was served. We live in the east coast most unprofessional resturant I have ever been too as far as service. We had a reservation for 830 and didn't get seated til 915 and ended up walking out after 30 minutes without any drink service. Horrible place to eat if you respect the value of service. If you want a legit resturant don't have infants running it.

Very nice restaurant - the food was good but not great. The service was excellent. What I really loved about it though was the atmosphere. It's a little more modern than Capital Grille, Ruth's, Del Frisco's, etc. Most importantly, it doesn't feel quite as stuffy. It was more lively & acceptable for groups to laugh loudly and just generally have an upbeat attitude. I'll go back, but more so for the comfort level than anything. Be prepared - it's a little pricier than a lot of other high end steakhouses.
Best steak in DFW according to me. This is a special place that I take my wife. The filet is amazing and you haven t lived until you try the tomahawk ribeye.
Horrible experience with lack of respect and true customer service. I set a reservation and they ruined birthday plans all due to made up dress code on the spot that wasn t in the email before arrival. Not only did they say no shorts other people also had on shorts and was allowed entry and we stood there in total disappointment.
After attending two separate dining events at this restaurant within a week, I can honestly say that the service and atmosphere are lacking. This is NOT a 5 star place.
Food: good but not near worth the price point. Cheapest filet mignon was mid $40s. All the sides were ala carte.
Atmosphere: The place is a beautiful space. Nicely decorated in an Art Deco style. BUT, the tables were placed WAY too close together on the Saturday night that we visited. Our party of 8 was packed so close to the adjoining table of 8 that the waiters could not easily walk between the tables. I was bumped every time they tried to serve food to either table. Maybe this is what the owners are going for (packing as many patrons in the restaurant to boost revenue), but the atmosphere and energy in the place seems more like a hectic Mexican restaurant (like Uncle Julio's). The wait staff seemed confused and were constantly rushing around to serve the hundreds of guests. They were almost running/bumping in to each other because they were so rushed. Not the slow-paced, calm service you would expect at a restaurant of this price point.
If you are looking for a high quality, easy atmosphere of a true 5 start restaurant, this is NOT your place.
I complained to our server on Saturday night regarding the table spacing, and he said there was nothing he could do about it, and did not offer any concessions. He said the management was aware. I spoke to the manager as we were leaving and he could not be bothered at all.
I can honestly say, I won't ever be spending my $$$ at this place when I want a high-end steak in the future. There are too many other notable, high-end steak places in Uptown now. Do your homework.....I wish we had.
I have been coming here for 6 years with no problems, often rolling with VIPs who tend to be seated immediately. I decided to take a big client in from out of town here as I've always had these great experiences.
We arrived at the restaurant an hour early for our 8:30 reservation and let the hostess know we would have a drink at the bar and to let us know if anything came up early. We noticed on opentable that there were 7:30 reservations open and there were 5 tables in the bar area visibly open so we were hopeful but ok with waiting an hour. At 8:30 we inquired about the table and they said it would be just a moment and it would be ready soon. At 9 pm I spoke with the manager and let him know I was entertaining an important client and there were several tables open in the bar. He soon took us to a bar table. I should mention that the couple at the bar next to us was also waiting for 30 minutes past their reservation at that point as well.
When we sat, my client, who is a restaurant owner, asked the reason for the delay and said it was just unacceptable. He wasn't rude, just irritated from the wait and obviously hungry since it was past 9pm, and did not berate the manager or use foul language. The managers reply to his question was "don't worry about it, we won't be serving you here" and walked away leaving the menus on the table. We were very confused and a moment later he came back grabbed the menus and said that he was refusing us service and told us to leave the restaurant. Typically, a manager would just apologize and comp a desert or something- but ask people to leave the restaurant? He laughed at us as we left. Very unprofessional.

We had early dinner w my grandson. The service was so friendly and considerate of young diner including the gift of a fashing light stick at end. We has sushi appetizer which was tops and I know. Obviously steak good w nice appetizer. The desert was another surprise . We could not decide between chocolate and carrot and Sean our waiter offered half's. Well we got 2 half's that were more like full. I love this place. 5 star quality but family friendly when needed. Great!!! Mike Kerr

Very nice. However, it can get loud and crowded. The meal is always good; beautiful meats, delicious sides.Service comes and goes; sometimes more attentive than others (I think it just depends on the section). Sometimes they try to cram too many tables and too many people into the main dining room and secondary rooms.

Food was great. Service was even better. However, it was packed on a Wednesday night at 700P (good for them), and nearly impossible to have a conversation at our four top table.

Our experience was terrible. We have to say that is shocked up. We felt as though it was some racial profiling going on. My bestfriend specifically requested certain things and they never happened after being told it would be taken care of. We also asked to be moved and it never happened we were put next to the kitchen and it was not what I wanted. In addition to that our waiter just stopped coming around. We tried to order drink and other things and I had to physically get up find a waiter I use to have (Mike) to help take care of us. This birthday experience was terrible. If it wasn t for mike trying to salvage what was done I would have just started crying and wanting to leave. Nick and sams is about experience. This was not it. I come where my people have spent 2000-8000 before.
This was my husbands first experience and he does business with a lot of record labels and celebrities. He said he will never bring or suggest this establishment to anybody.
If we ever come it will be due to mike, and only wanting mike to take care of us in the future.

Had dinner there Saturday evening 9/6/2014 and it was fabulous. If I had a complaint it would be regarding the link from their website allowing you to reserve a table. I used the application but when I arrived at the restaurant they said I had no reservation but we were able to eat at the bar which was great. Great food and ambiance, I will be back!!!
Oh my goodness, I can t even begin to describe how good of an experience we had here. My husband and I were visiting Dallas and always love to find a good steak restaurant and found Nick and Sam s, so we decided to treat ourselves for our one year anniversary. Right from the get go the service was top of the line. Our server, I believe his name was Demetri? was amazing from start to finish. The manager came and greeted us. They heard it was our anniversary and gave us complimentary champagne. From there we ordered everything. The menu (both food and drink) was too good not to!
We got oysters, and the only complaint I have is that the shells were broken on almost all of them. The oysters themselves were great. They had a bluefin toro sampler which was incredible. I had never had bluefin before and the sampler came with tartar, sashimi, and nigiri. It was like butter! So good. We got complimentary caviar which was fantastic. The sommelier, Jeff (who is a great somm and very knowledgable!) saw a duck confit he thought we would like and that would pair well with our drinks and let me tell you: it was amazing! The flavour and texture was just mouthwatering.

Nick & Sam's is by far the best steakhouse in Dallas. From the steaks, to the atmosphere, to the service... absolutely incredible. I've tried most of the big name steakhouses in Dallas, and I'm always disappointed because I just wish I had gone to Nick & Sam's.
It's expensive, but you really only go here on special occasions (unless you're ballin I guess). I mean, how many places give caviar for free?

I am not one to write reviews unless I find something over the top incredible or subpar. On Saturday night I was provided with one of those subpar dining experiences. Went to Nick & Sams Grill and found an incredibly packed restaurant. We had reservations and were seated promptly. Fair enough. For starters we went with wine by the glass. Everyone wanted something different. I lean towards Malbec or Pinot and found their top of the line offerings to be horrible. I am not overly picky but these were quite wattery, with little character. One was served from a twist off bottle that was $16/gl. Pretty bad. Wound up drinking a Cabernet from Krug that was decent. Pretty clear they want you to get a bottle of wine per person. The by the glass wine selection was not my issue, but the food. It was subpar and quite disappointing. I don't know who is giving it top ratings, but 2 years ago it was much better IMO. Their Mac & Cheese used to be spectacular. We raved to the couple we went with how good it was. When we finally got it, it was luck warm. The other couple asked for a warmer serving and we were provided with a steaming hot (like from a microwave) serving that would never be kept at that temperature. The Mac & cheese was watery and broken down and not to mention incredibly bland. Nothing like the Mac & cheese of past, that had rich cheesy taste & consistency. I was pretty embarrassed for getting two orders of this. One other side worth noting was the asparagus. Tasted fine, but was said to be a serving for "2 to 4" people. Guess how many asparagus that included? Three!! I eat asparagus regularly and eat 6 stalks myself! Don't recall the price, but had to be $8 or more. The steak.. Well apparently it is from Allen Brothers in Chicago. Whatever, tasted like a cut from Omaha. 10 oz filet was cooked ok enough at medium rare, but wasn't searing and there was a serious lack of any seasoning on the steak. Another person at the table got their filet medium and it was butterflied. WTH! That is definitely not needed for a 10oz filet at medium. Medium Well, possibly... Many other options in Dallas to choose from. This place is obviously suffering from cutting corners to help the dallas social scene and similar ilk get some standard fare. IMO, go to Al Bernaits or somewhere else, if seeking good food. I would never take a client here from Chicago / New York / etc. that was looking for a good steak. YMMV, but probably by not a lot.

Best food I've ever had in my life serve was great staff were all wonderful, (even though the server stole our ice cream before we were done) but it was a super busy night and he was great all night and I'll be back whenever we have another special event to celebrate.

This is the best steak restaurant!!! The ambiance is great and the food is good. It's a nice, sexy, upscale place to dine or socialize at the bar. You can go here for a nice dinner date with bae or just have dinner with a group of friends. You can go here any day of the week and the atmosphere will be the same. What I love most about this restaurant that you can actually celebrate any occasion vs other steak restaurants are quiet and slow. They will decorate the table and have the option to order the celebration cake which comes out with sparkles.

2 hours and 59 minutes for a dinner that was way over priced for what it was. I've had better steaks elsewhere. Mine was fatty and burnt. Guy next to me had half of his fatty too. Next to him was a burnt filet. Maybe chef was off the night I went but I won't be returning and felt the need to post this in case anyone else like me is looking for a spot for a good meal while traveling.
Excellent steaks, lobster mac and cheese. 4th time for New Years Eve and always a good time. Don't forget the cotton candy dessert!
