To start off, I don t write public reviews. But this hospital needs one so future patients can have seconds thoughts coming in for Emergency s. I understand paperwork has to be done for fees and Medicaid reasons etc. But that shouldn t be the main priority. A signature should not be more important than someone health. That could wait. I was in pain and I felt very unwelcome. Nurse was pretty rude and I didn t receive much attention. My pain was still existent after the first pills they prescribed to me. My boyfriend went and asked what s the next step since I was in pain. the nurse who was short, and from an Asian decent was very rude and answered him with a sassy attitude. I was later taken X-rays and then told that I will be fine. But overall the staff was not well prepared. I could ve been in a worst position and best believe things would have gotten ugly. I m not from Brooklyn, but I know this will be my first and LAST visit from this pathetic Hospital!

I brought my husband to the ER suspecting that he was having a heart attack. Within 10 minutes he was in an emergency bay with 3 doctors and 6 nurses working over him, inserting a line in his arm, and preparing to wheel him up to the Cardiac Cath Center, where Methodist's Director of Cardiology inserted 3 stents in my husband's coronary arteries, stopping his massive heart attack cold. In the ensuing week my husband had 2 more stents inserted to ensure that his arteries would remain clear and flowing freely. The staff was polite and caring, tremendously informative and gave us the confidence that all would be well. The Director of Cardiology -- one of the busiest men in the world! -- came to see my husband at least once per day. I was allowed to spend 2 nights in my husband's room to ease his initial anxiety, and slept on a comfortable daybed. That was in 2007. My husband, 8 years later, is so fine that he's biking around Prospect Park.

Similarly, I had a stent inserted in 2014. I was in and out in one day, the care was super, and I slept like a baby all night through. The medical care -- and the human caring -- that we have both received at Methodist is second to none, and I'm thrilled to have one of Brooklyn's 3 top Cardiology Centers in my own neighborhood!!

I like this hospital I gave birth to my son the nurses and doctors make sure you was okay and I had 2 surgeries done and they still attend to you if you have any problems. The only thing I don t like is when the nurses turn on the light to give me a shot they leave the light on and I have to get up in pain and all to turn it off but other wise it s a good hospital I recommend to anyone.

My stepdad had polyps removed from his colon. While under he took a heart attack. They keeped him sedated for weeks. While sedated he got bed sore at that hospital. He went to a couple of nursing home within 6 month he had his both legs cut off from the knees down. Then i week later he died on 12/10/07 from getting his legs cut off. I would not recommend that hospital to no one. They do care for the patients at all.

Elizabeth at SOUTH 7 was amazing. Took great care of everyone , including my mother. Didn't get a chance to say good bye as she was discharged on a Sunday. Thank you so much Elizabeth! Was a decent hospital with very nice nurses. Food could be better but it's a hospital, you can't expect much.

Everyone in pediatrics was incredible. We brought our son in with a high fever. The nurses were attentive and informative, especially Teresa. Gabby helped our son feel comfortable with coloring books and play do. I couldn't be happier with the pediatrics ER department.

I admitted my father with an heart condition yesterday and we were very impressed by the care, friendliness everyone at the hospital showed towards us during our greatest need. Since I m diabetic and did not have access to food while waiting for service in the ER, they gave me a free boxed sandwich with drinks. The hospital is very clean and the staff seems organized. The doctors and nurses were very professional. We are confident that my father would be getting the best care possible. He had 2 heart procedures at this hospital before and this is his third time. This would be my go to hospital in the future for my entire family. I think this is the best hospital in Brooklyn. My family is very grateful to all the staff at this hospital.

Despite being in the heart of Park Slope we had a horrible time here as a lesbian couple. We were really happy with some of the staff but beyond that it was a nightmare. We were told countless times that they haven t dealt with families like ours and were asked by at least 5 people to come back and train them. It was to the point that we felt completely harassed. The Patient Rep did nothing. Never even followed up with us on our issues when we were there for days after she saw us. Once we filed a claim our LGBTQ identity was totally erased in their dismissive response. Um have you heard of the NYC LGBTQ patient bill of rights? They even DENIED medical waste that was left behind after surgery which required an urgent care visit. And sent more than $500 worth of bogus bills which we are still trying to fight. Just because it s in Park Slope don t be fooled. There are some amazing people busting their behinds to make up for everyone else. Overall this hospital is poorly managed, not culturally competent, Patient Services and Administration are the absolute pits!

I had to take my child to pediatric emergency room...

I had to take my child to pediatric emergency room at Methodist Hospital, since she had high grade fever of 103F for the past few days. None of the doctors came to see my daughter. So the nurse practitioner by the name of Meagan Carley was taking my child's vitals. When she took otoscope to check my child's ears, (I dont know what school she went to or where she did her internship) she pulled my daughter's ear and inserted otoscope all the way in and made my daughter screamed from the pain she caused. Then she decided to clean her ear with a plastic stick (God knows why) and also inserted way too deep (she could of damaged the ear membrane). The diagnosis that she put on discharge paper was just Fever. The next day we went to our pediatrician who diagnosed my child right away with totally different diagnosis. My daughter saw otoscope in our pediatrician's office and screamed because the NP (Meagan) already caused damage and fear and phobia which my child never had. My daughter never cried in our pediatrician office because everything was done professionally. When our doctor saw my child's ear she confirmed that it was scratched inside. So please if you ever in Methodist pediatric ER and you see this name of the nurse practitioner that I mentioned above please be careful and ask for someone else.

I don't even know where to start with this place. I had my appendix removed and my time in recovery was one of the worst of my life. It took the nurses hours to do what should have been done in minutes, neglected people who needed real attention, and shows absolutely no compassion for patients (I am not even talking about how they treated me but the other patients). I can't even begin to imagine the people here that actually needed serious attention. Do whatever you can to stay away from this horribly run, understaffed facility. STAY AWAY!

The most unprofessional place I had ever given birth in my life. Made my second time mom experience extremely unenjoyable. The nurses accused me of yelling when being stern, I had to ask for certain necessaties for a few hours, and they would not give me any privacy AT ALL. I would never ever come back here again and I hope to God this place gets shut down immediately.

Horrible hospital that does NOT care for their patients. They discharged my sister and she collapsed before leaving the hospital. They refused to put her back in the room and made her go through the ER all over again then discharged her again. We are now at Mount Sinai.

They kicked my father out with the catheter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What was the point of going to the emergency room in the first place?! They told him that he needs to go and see a different doctor outside the hospital?!!!!!!!!!! But he's already in the hospital!!!!!!!!!! What does it mean: they don't have doctors????????????????? Please if you want to live go to another hospital!!!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On 4/23 I accompanied my husband to Methodist hospital Emergency room due to he had severe abdominal pain. We arrived at 3pm he was seen at the Rapid unit and was asked to provide urine then 5 minutes later we went to triage I tried to give the nurse there the urine sample she told me to hold on to it the nurse in the back would take it. He was assigned to bed 12A at 3:15 I inquired about someone collecting his urine they said to give them a minute. It wasn t until 3:56 a nurse finally collected his urine still at this point not a nurse or physician came to see him while he was in the fetal position rocking back and forth from the pain. They could have been running his urine or sending him to get an x-ray to see if it s his appendix which if it were to rupture it could be deadly. At 4:15pm they finally put an IV and took blood and gave him IV Motrin for the pain and at 4:35 DR Wang came to see him and said it s possibly a kidney stone. There was another man there bleeding all over the place with previous stitches who mentioned to me he had been there for two hours and no one has attended to him. I ve never been to a hospital where the patient or patients wife has to hold on to the urine sample for almost an hour as well as the patient is unattended to for that long. They have four beds in each pod instead of two like I have seen in previous hospital emergency rooms. Their staff looks very laid back. They also have time to joke around but not enough time to attend to the patients?. There was also an EMT by the name Anthony making unprofessional comments to one of the nurses about a homeless patient he had brought in, he was saying how the guy was kicking up a storm and she had asked him if he kicked him he was like do you think he would be here right now if he did. I was truly appalled by this emergency department, that was the first and the last time we will ever go there. One last thing I also contacted patient relations at their off hour number and the representative said she would speak to her supervisor and someone would get back to me. No one called me back regarding my complaint. They need to joke less and stop being so laid back and be more proactive. They have too many beds not enough nurses looks like all they care about is the money they can make instead of providing decent health care to those who really need it. I don't recommend this place at all.

If I could get less than one star I would. This hospital is dirty overcrowded blood on bathroom floors , it smells and is hot about 85 degrees inside bugs flying around. The wait time is ridiculous over 4 hours and nothing done .

I am in emergency room with my mother with a lot of pain in the hip they took their time to call her 3 hours and when we arrived at the supposed room smell very bad, when the nurse came and it had been almost two hours. This service is not useful, this is the second time we see it, but there will not be another. I fell really bad for my mother now if I want to post this they make to put a star this ridiculous plus they send my mother to the bathroom When we returned they given the room to another patient They force people to give them 1 star

6 hour wait in the ER. This was the typical wait time and some patients had been there longer. Nurses were cold literally telling patients "The doctors are right there why don't YOU go ask them when they'll see you". Go somewhere else like Maimonides, 30 minute to an hour wait until you see a doctor.

I came to this hospital about three years ago with my mom, When I sign my mom name, after about few minute, called her name. However, while I am writing this comment from inside the hospital, feeling so much angry, I brought my sister this time, I ve been waiting for more than one hour waiting for a bed for her, she breath hardly and she feel more pain while the time is passing, her heart is hurting more and more. I went inside to tell them that she is getting more sick even when she is the hospital. I am wondering, what if something happen or the hospital will be more busy than usual, what is going to happen with the patients, how they re will react while they the cannot afford a bed on a time which is not busy, or not so much patients. The emergency room haven t changed since a long time, they still have the same amount of bed, small as if people are not increasing.
This is bad, really really bad.
In the end, do not believe the news when it said according to US some news that this hospital consider one of the top 10 hospitals on USA.
Liars, I believe the best hospital are the most hospitals who makes money and pay so much money to the news therefor they get more customers, i will not say patients at this time for what I am seeing right now.
So much carless.
I remember one thing, when I came, a pregnant lady came, and she about to give birth, she was like crying and holding so hard. And the staff came to my sister and give the sticker, I was like, she is given a birth, you should help her first or do something. A guy came with wheelchair, and not helping the lady to sit on the wheelchair.
Hhhh finally they found a bed. I want to to write, maybe next year and hopefully not forever.

When they found a bed for my sister, I found three empty beside the one she s sitting on.

Very poorly run hospital. I've been to many hospitals but I've never experienced such an overbooked money-milking machine with no respect towards the patients. Two weeks ago, I had an appointment at 9:30am with a hematologist. I arrived on time to be done with all the paperwork. At 10am I told the staff that I have to see a client at 1am, so I could not be late. Each time I was told the same answer "don't worry, you're next". I had to wait for almost three hours to first see a medical intern who had a nerve to tell me I'll have to wait more for an actual doctor. I wrapped it up, took my referral and run away. NEVER AGAIN!

The staff, all the staff are courteous. A plus in good health care. Patients are attendef to immediately. The facility is clean. The cubicles are clean, the rooms are clean. The level of care is superior to any I have received at other hospitals. This hospital is my first choice.

AMAZING HOSPITAL. I came to the ER with severe abdominal pain. Sure, it took a couple hours to be seen by someone, but it seems many of the negative reviews are complaining about the wait and I do think those people may need to gain some perspective because these nurses and doctors are BUSY. They see/treat/operate on so many patients, all day and night. Once I got my result back that my appendix had ruptured, the doctor herself came to explain everything to me quite late at night, and they admitted me immediately. I have to say, EVERY. SINGLE. NURSE. (around 10 of them total) I interacted with was compassionate, genuinely caring, patient, and kind, all in addition to being super experienced and competent. I was pretty freaked out and scared, and they made sure I knew what was happening every step of the way. Even the gentleman who took my CT scan sensed I was scared and made little small talk with me to ease my anxiety. I felt so supported throughout my entire four day stay. These people genuinely wanted me to feel better. My last day the nurse gave me step by step instructions on how to change my gauze, gave me a bag full of gauze and sent me off WITH A HUG. These nurses are true heroes, and if something happened to any of my loved ones, I would want them to come here.

Hello, My mother and sister both had Surgery from Doctor Gorecki at Methodist hospital. My mother the gastric bypass and my sister the vertical sleeve gastrectomy

My mother had a stroke while still under anestesia. When she awoke she couldnt speak and was half paralyzed in her left side the hospital was ready to send her home not even noticing that she had had a stroke. In my eyes not caring.

In my sisters case they sent her home post op while complaining of pains in her sides. They sent her home again when she came to the emergency room days later with the same pain worsened saying she was dehydrated without making any tests. They tried to send her home a third time when she came back to the emergency room with doctors orders to check into the hospital. She was 38 years old and died of blood clots in the porter vein as a complication of this elective surgery. Perhaps any test may have shown signs earlier and made a difference.
I have never experienced a more unfriendly and incompetent hospital in my life.

One of the worst hospitals to take someone. You rather die in pain at home than go there. Went there at 11:30am they said they admit at 2 pm to observe for the night no bed until 10pm no doctors or nurse come to check. Restrooms are not clean. I will never bring anyone or come myself at this hospital. They take insurance and signature on time but your healthcare is not done on time. So far what I understand about this hospital is that they don t have money to run the hospital so they are admitting patients so they could take out money from the insurance. There is no one to answer your questions. We hear all these hospitals in news about different country where they want money so they make up stuff well Brooklyn has one now.

Injured while under anesthesia for routine procedure in 2019 (head injury). I complained to doctor and hospital staff/patient services about this incident but does not look to have helped to avoid other patients suffering such as I did or compensate me for injury. I would not recommend the NY Methodist hospital staff level of care while under anesthesia at this hospital. I suggest to avoid being put under anesthesia and stay conscious if possible for your procedure at this hospital.

I haven't used the actual hospital however I did have a terrible experience with my two-year-old at the sleep disorder center. I dealt with two people a man and a woman the man was very nice very thorough and very good with my son. The nurse there by the name of Mariana, was absolutely horrible to my son. He was upset (HES TWO) and had a little tantrum because he was scared and took off one of the probes on his face. Instead of explaining to him the importance of it or trying any other method that normal people do, she came in the room screaming at him telling him that he's a bad boy and then proceeded to tape socks on his hands and put the tape so tight he can barely move them. My son was terrified and had a twitch for about 5 minutes in his eye. He also had trouble sleeping all night woke up screaming was nervous she'd come in and even the next day had trouble sleeping waking up screaming from naps. I have contacted patient relations and the technical director and will proceed to corporate. I was told they deal with children all the time and if that's how they deal with children I would suggest no one ever go there with their child it was a traumatic experience for both of us. If there was Zero Stars I would rather have given it that.

Thank God for my cardiologist over 10 years had told me to get myself stat to this life saving hospital! My very first-admitting Doctor who had saved my life from bleeding out of my nose & mouth!

I had developed these strange bruise's all over my body and didn't know I had developed dangerously low platelets. At 57 I had never experienced anything as scary from excessive blood gushing out seemed like gallons of it. It was like in a horror movie shocking where it started in another hospital that didn't know why or how to control it do I had to sign out VERY grateful both Dr John Sayad & Dr Karim Sayad returned my calls at 11pm

My hero & angel Dr Bernstein in ER with his team of other doctors, nurses, aides as well office staff were above&beyond professional, kind, compassionate I had never experienced in my life living in NY all my life! Truly believe in my & mind if it were not for his diagnose with full complete attention I would not be here today to share his success in bringing me back to life over night.

I came I here when I was very sick with the covid 19 virus, they saved my life and got me to a point where I was able to be discharged from the hospital and the sent me to Ditmas Park rehab to get my back on my feet and back home.
I will never forget all the care I got from the doctors to the nurses and everyone who came to safe my life.
may God bless you all for what you do

Waited an extremely long time in the ER room to be told our insurance was not covered. The insurance company confirmed we were but the front desk woman who enters the information would not verify it with the insurance company. She just said the system said we weren't in it. We asked to verify the information she entered and pointed out that she entered the wrong number from the card. She then refused to change it. Hopefully this isn't a reflection of the quality of the medical care here.

I am currently at the Medical Pavilion where bloodwork is taken. I am shocked, disappointed, and disturbed by the blatant disregard of face mask/covering of staff waiting to punch into work. I even asked a staff (wearing scrubs) in a calm and kind manner to please follow through with the face mask/covering rule, and was dismissed. The guard sat by doing nothing. Please DO BETTER. You are a hospital, and should be held to the most extreme of standards. You are falling so short. It could be some bad apples; however, they really leave a lasting impression.

I suggest another hospital

I suggest another hospital
Twice have checked in emergency and been forgotten after admitting. 1st time. 14hrs in hallway ( with 6 others) no food, no water, no vitals taken, no meds given. As a type 1 diabetic had i not had my blood test kit and food i would have been in coma or worse. ( No nurses or call buttons in hallway). 87yr old man , still sharp, begging to be unhooked from stretcher iv to go to bathroom, finally urinated on self.
Used to be great hospital but now the real estate is more valuable to ny pres.
You take life in hands

This review is 5 years in the making. I have been ...

This review is 5 years in the making. I have been so deeply traumatized by my birthing experience that I was unable to fully formulate it into words until this moment. I came to Methodist as a patient due to their affiliation with my then OB-GYN. I should have known that I was not going to have a great experience when I ended up there after severe dehydration in my 9 month of pregnancy and they refused to give any details about my condition until my them husband left the room. He was the father of my child and the doctor refused to speak until he left! Shameful. Fast forward to my actual delivery date on January 6th, 2015- I labored at home for 21 hrs specifically to avoid any suggestions of a Caesaerian. I waddled into the birthing room at 41 weeks and 6 days and NINE CM DILATED!!! Lavonne Beckwith who was the midwife assigned to me immediately began to verbally abuse my husband and I by telling us that she did not care to see our birth plan and that if we didn't want to comply with the rules of the hospital then we should have opted for a home birth. She repeatedly asked him to stand behind me and get out of the way as "this wasn't about him." I was too far advanced in my labor to have any pain medication (which was also a decision that I had previously made) however, she did nothing to soothe my stress, pain or anxiety. Instead, she verbally assaulted me by yelling that I needed to open my legs wider and stop screaming because she couldn't "work like this". What work was she doing?! She also continuously threatened me with a C section by asking me if I wanted to go to the OR. She was rude, nasty and unpleasant. When I escorted to my room, I was left to my own devices as a new mother where I was rarely checked on. Hours after having given birth, I struggled to use the restroom on my on and bled on the floor. The blood stayed in bathroom well into that afternoon before I had to request that it was cleaned up.I was shocked by this treatment as I had previously heard wonderful things about this facility. Methodist is a disgrace and I would not recommend it to anyone that I love or hate. Shame on you.

Very uncaring staff. You always think that people become doctors or nurses because they want to help people, that's not true at all here. Really everyone I spoke to had the "I couldn't care less attitude." Very poor ER care. Avoid this hospital.

I do NOTTT recommend coming here. Things took way longer than necessary and no one seemed to give a clear answer on anything. It s been 10 hours and counting. This was an extremely mentally exhausting experience and I absolutely would never come back here for any sort of emergency and advise you to consider other centers.

I'm not a review person but here it goes. I would not recommend this emergency room unless you're dying and I mean literally dying. If not then you'll will be easily waiting for 5hrs. Also don't get fooled by few ppl in the waiting area. You'll still have to wait for 5 hrs. Which to me makes no sense to call it an emergency room coz it takes way way more time then seeing your doctor. Never going to this place again. I was so excited when the receptionist told me I was next to be called but even then I swear to god I never knew I would have to wait literally hours to be called in. So I walked into the emergency room to speak to the nurse about it and they all so relaxed for emergency room. Some stretching their legs and talking with coworker, some just walking up and down, some just on the computer few were actually working but it didn't seem like an emergency room to me at all coz nobody was hustling and bustling to get the bring in the next patient. I would have given zero star if I could. Oh to top it all nurses are rude in there if speak your mind.

I like this Hospital alot and glad the ambulance brought me here one night a year ago. It took this Hospital to discover something that's been wrong with me for awhile that no other doctors discovered. I am grateful to the team of doctors here that helped me and continue to be apart of my recovery. I also like now with covid that everyone must wear a mask and get their temperature taken upon entering the hospital. The doctors are nice and do explain things when asked and even when not asked. I ask alot of questions and sometimes the same ones and so far my team hasn't got frustrated with me. If anything they are patient.

The worst thing the city could've done is close LIC hospital because it made what would have already been a painful situation abyssal. I was in the ER recently with kidney stones and it took them 3 hours to have a 2 minute chat with an attending physician. The hallway was full of people on beds who looked as if they were moments from death. The doctor was quite condescending and could not answer basic questions regarding after-care. I've also had regular appointments there and they tend to overbook so you wait at least 45 minutes before you are seen. If you aren't dying spend the extra cash and go to a hospital in Manhattan. If you are dying let them stabilize you and then ask to be transferred to a hospital in Manhattan.

I've never thought I'd see such a horrible hospital. Was in labor and delivery, and I saw about 10 women in labor waiting in the waiting room, most of them were in very active labor, some screaming and crying. Instead of being properly taken care of, they are sitting on chairs or strolling around to ease the pain. The cafeteria food is pretty bad and very expensive for what you get. Most nurses are not responsive, you need to harass them to get what you want.

Understaffed ER ! Was in the room for 3 hours not even a nurse came in to check up on me or take my vitals .the nurse tottaly ignored me when I said I'm waiting in the room with chest pains not to even be looked at . From the front desk to the doctors and nurses RUDE! I feel the cleaning crew and security guards were more helpful then the docs and nurses . (Sadly ) just wripped my bracelet off be4 the doc could even leave my room . And ran out of there like a maniac . AVOiD this place !

Went in for a scheduled ultrasound. Was told it would be 1.5 hours before they could see me. The waiting room was a nightmare. An overcrowded factory full of rowdy pregnant groups of kids screaming about shooting people, baby daddies, and all manner of horrifying circle of hell topics. It reminded me of Wyckoff in Bushwick where my friend and I were assaulted in the ER waiting room by another patient. If you have healthcare that you pay for do your research and go to a better place for the sake of your family. A place this overwhelmed is bound to make mistakes like Wyckoff did.

I cut my hand. So i went to the emergency room. After waiting 2 hours i finally able to see a doctor. He told me i might need 2 or 3 stitch. And told me to wait. After another hour waiting a lady doctor came and told me the same things. I waited for her two hours. I got really upset. And when i finally met her again she told me she is about to put some glue. But never came back. When i saw her again. I was tired and upset. Asked her can i leave. She told me yeah i can leave if I wanted to. So i left. After waiting almost 6 hours i left the hospital. I dont know why they didn't tell me to leave earlier. I don't get the treatment.

Picture this scenario happening TWICE in the same ...

Picture this scenario happening TWICE in the same hospital for in a 30 day timeframe: Ambulatory Care surgery schedules you for 9:30 AM, & according to their policy you have to arrive TWO hours early (7:30 arrival time) you must come in fasted obviously. And then at 11 AM you run in to the doctor (yes I ran into him, he was not actively looking for me to keep me updated because the nurses were not providing answers to the delay) and then he tells you that the machine that is needed for my surgery is not at the hospital. Yes you read that right, they called me the day before to confirm a surgery when the equipment was not even on site. I understand that situations arise, but TWICE? Come on. So the doctor tells me, that I'm next door the procedure at 11:30. Guess what? I didn't even get called into the O.R. until 2 PM. Yup, I didn't complaint until 1:00 PM when I already had an 8/10 headache. So procedure finally over, get discharged from Ambulatory Care in a rush, I felt as in a restaurant when they're trying to get customers out to clear tables. Ask to speak to the doctor about the pressure: they say to me (verbatim): " doctors don't come out unless something went bad, so I guess everything went ok." Thank you nurse for your guess, I hope you're right, but can you please at least call my doctor to ask him? In summary: the staff is really good but my likely hood to recommend this hospital is ZERO. Yes I would give them zero, actually I can give them 2 zeros because it felt like Deja Vu the second time that it happened twice within a 30 day period
