This is one of the worst and most disgusting hospital I ever seen in my entire life the nurse has a very nasty attitude the doctor was sitting on their phone while the patient was screaming it s my first time saying this, this hospital needs to shut down completely the entire staff has a nasty attitude the place is filthy I kept my pee up because the bathroom was so dirty and disgusting please don t not go there or let you love one do. None of the staff was nice at all I have never seen this in my entire life.

AVOID. The ER is beyond terrible. It was unbelievable how cold and desensitized the staff is. I came in wih extremely painful abdominal cramping, and all they did was put in an IV. Which i couldnt even take well because i could not stop writhing on the bed. All they had to do was give me anti- nausea medication and something for pain. The doctor watches too much House and thinks very highly of himself. He asked if i had sex last night and if so i need to get an ultrasound to see if one of my ovaries was moved. What?!?! How likely is that??? Here i am in absolute pain and crying (while every single staff person ignored me.) He then attempted to make me feel worse by telling me a patient had just died. This place is beyond a mess. I left after two hours of suffering there, and will never return.

I am an internal medicine physician. I brought my mother here after she had a stroke. The day after, in the ICU, her heart monitors went off. Everyone responded to her rapid and altered heartbeat. Everyone learned about heart rhythms that day and they learned why she had the stroke. The treatment was to start her on blood thinners to prevent her heart from making clots that would cause another stroke. I assumed they did this. Several days later after being transferred to a regular floor the cardiologist came to do a consult. I happened to ask if mom s heart rhythm was back to normal or if she still had a-fib. They didn t know she had ever had an arrthymia. After learning I was a physician they wanted to know what day it occurred and came back to ask what time. Finally they found the rhythm strips and 4 EKG s and placed her on proper meds. I wish that were the end of the debacle. A few days later she was coughing blood. I waited in the morning to tell her treating physician who promised to take care of it. I reminded him she had fluid in the base of her lungs at admission and was also on blood thinners, maybe she should have another X-ray. As the days progressed, mom s difficulty in rehab was limited by shortness of breath and pain. They put her on oxygen. I was noticing more and more blood daily in the clear bag they gave her to spit in and that she kept by her face. We asked and were allowed to attend the team meeting to discuss her progress. I told them I was concerned about the worsening thick bloody sputum in light of the shortness of breath and her blood thinners. Someone in the team said they hadn t seen any blood. The attending ordered cultures and X-ray. Finally the blood that I saw everyday was visible to the treating team. Mom was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Still not done with debacles. Mom was also prescribed ear drops to dissolve wax in her ear. Unfortunately someone instilled it in her eye. We learned about this when mom told us about the painful eye drops put in her left eye. Mom was not prescribed any eye drops. Finally there was also an event where mom told us she did not get an injection that was prescribed. I asked the staff about this and they informed me she did in fact get it because it was documented. When I told mom she was mistaken she became quite upset insisting she did not. She insisted on seeing the nurse who also informed her she had gotten it. Honestly, I believed my mother was mistaken until the nurse came in the morning and said it was not given. It had been documented as given because there was an expectation to give it.

Given the above you might be inclined to dismiss the rest of this. I met some of the nicest healthcare professionals here. I can honestly say the stafff took time to know my mom and treated her kindly and with respect. I liked them all. Unfortunately I didn t trust them. I hope they can remedy these things but I would not bring any sick person here and comfortably trust they d get the proper care.

I can only speak about my experience at the ER. Although, triage was rather fast, the rest was a joke. There is nothing "E" mergency about this place. unless you have life-threatening injuries, the waiting time could be as long as 4-hrs. Doctors and nurses did not appeared to be active engaged, yet claimed it was a busy night. If it wasn't because I really needed stitches I would have just waked away and go to a regular clinic the next day. If this ER is your only choice, you may want to bring some movies and lots of popcorn, cause it's gonna be a loooooong wait. :)

Understaffed, and impossible to get in touch with. I've called multiple times and left voicemails for the billing department with no response. They even billed me for a physician I've never even met in my life. Only go here if you're literally dying.

Mesmerized

Be careful who you place your loved ones hands in....

Be careful who you place your loved ones hands in. I have had loved ones in this hospital often. Never had anything to complain about. However, this last admission of a family member was alarming to say the least. No complaints of E.R. as they were caring and professional. However, would recommend others to be watchful if they have a family member placed on infill 6th floor. They are a sketchy group of employees to say the least. Most of the employees are aloof and deceitful, employees are always on their cell phones and show no concern for their job or interest for their patients. I feel the hospital needs to put a policy in place for employees cell phone use and a legitimate purpose for being on their cell phone as staff is oblivious to visitors/family while their playing on their phones. In addition I feel if a doctor is paged (Asifa Ashraf) because a family member was not present when she went to visit the patient earlier ,the right thing to do is respond and service family/caregivers. After the physician not answering pages by the nurse on call for 30 minutes I knocked on the door where the physician was sitting. The lady kept saying "yes" never got up to answer the door and after the third attempt to no avail I opened the door to find her on her cell phone. She was annoyed and told me that I shouldn't be in there. I just opened the door as she kept saying yes and never bothered to get up. I was a family member trying to attain help/information for one of her patients. To make matters worse, as I had a question concerning my family member she told me she already did her rounds ??? If she thinks that she was there for rounds only, then why not go home after she is finished? Is she getting paid to sit in the room and surf the internet? I would like to give credit to the professionals on the the unit which are two nurses, Bob and Mack who were professional, kind and caring. Also one of your nurse techs on Infill 6 who seemed to disappear after being asked to help a patient. She comes back after her patient is waiting over an hour and a half and sees a family member helped and signs off that she did her job? Have no clue how she sees that fit or didn't even bother to say sorry for the delay to the patient or thank you to the person who did her job. Is there no awareness provided to your employees on moving or cleaning patients so they don't get bed sores?? No one likes to leave the hospital with sores from being neglected. .Would also be nice to change bed linen so patients don't lay in dirty sheets. Aside from the drama on Infill 6 like to state that there are many kind and caring employees in your hospital on other floors however, administration needs to evaluate Infill 6. Be careful as some visitors document and photo while visiting.

Worst ER I have ever came across in my life. It is unbelievable that a hospital would be this unorganized. I would never recommend this hospital to anyone. Not even my worst enemy. If you are dying or close to death then this would be the last official choice. Came in at 11pm to the ER with my father due to chest pains. Stayed up all night, had three different people come in asking the same questions and doing the same procedure. Literally was in the ER for more than 12 hrs just for these people to decide what has to be done. When one of the nurses or medical students came in saying they will be back. Oh yeah they will be back....AFTER 4 HOURS! Its really upsetting because the Doctors are great here and the specialists affiliated with this hospital have great ratings. But if the ER is going to be this way, i rather diagnose my sickness through google. You get my point.

From the beginning my husband entered this hospital on his own feet now has an internal month and is almost dying. He does not move, he is paralyzed, he does not breathe on his own and now that he is on the 7th floor, he is not cleaned, they do not change his position in the bed. The nurse tech.

I brought my parents in last night because they were very ill. I have to say the staff in the emergency room was wonderful very attentive, patient and efficient. The doctor in the emergency room Dr Daniel k can't remember his last name. Thank you for being so caring, attentive and efficient. I appreciate you taking the time to explain on the phone the "covid antibody treatment ". I appreciate you taking the time to make sure they wouldn't have an allergic reaction towards it. Because of it my parents are feeling so much better immediately today after just a few hours after administration. The whole staff was wonderful. God bless you all and thank you for what you do. I truly appreciate all your hard work and dedication to your patients with this pandemic.

I was transferred to rehab 8th floor l understand the room is to be shared. The elder I'm sharing a room with does not speak English so her granddaughter is spending the night. It's 11pm between the staff with the machines the family holding conversations TV is on I have no privacy nor peace I need my rest and strength so I'll be alert for my therapy in the morning. I'll speak with a supervisor and Dr. Moore the professionalism has disappeared from health care unconsiderate individuals should not be allowed to stay in hospital with family members.

Worst labor btw the lady did not know how to use a epidural I felt like I gave natural birth it did nothing to me and yes I had 3 other ones before so I can say THE WORST EXPERIENCE! Shame on you almost had a lawsuit coming your way

They are heartless and cold, my family is on her deathbed and we are not able to see her although she has 2 days to live. Would not recommend as there is no compassion to families and loss of a love one.

This is the worst emergency care ever, you have to wait 5 hours to be seeing by a doctor, if you come here sick you'll get better just waiting, if you are having an emergency don't come here!!!!

Price gougers over at the Emergency services. Over the past few years, I've visited 3 emergency rooms in the immediate neighborhood, and some in different states, and have never received a bill so high for basic services - just blood work and 2 hours of "care". My bill was in excess of $1,300 after insurance was applied, and on top of that I owed an additional $300 for additional medical services per doctor (even though I only saw one person). One look through Healthcare Bluebook told me that they really take their patients and insurance partners for a ride. Despicable.

Amazing care. I went twice in one month for cat scan and X Ray's for blood clots. They are all amazing and was really looked after so we'll both times. It makes scary times easier when you are on your own. Amazing staff!!

My son had tests done in November 2013 . The purpose of at test for a doctor to view the results - but they were never sent to the doctor.
When I contacted them directly to have the results sent to the doctor, it took several attempts.
The staff were unhelpful and kept shifting the blame so that nothing constructive could be accomplished.
This hospital should be avoided - if something as obvious and important as sending test results to the doctor could be dealt with so incompetently, it is frightening to think of what else NYM is doing wrong with their medical care.

I thought the staff at the hospital were very nice and helpful. I have been here several times in the past with my parents. On the last visit, the nurses were very helpful and accommodating. Upstairs my father was put on an overflow floor, which was a shabby room but the medical staff was very helpful.

This hospital needs to work on functioning better....

This hospital needs to work on functioning better... I understand an emergency department can be under staffed or overwhelmed with patients but they need to work on prioritizing. After waiting 4 hrs a shift change occurs, no one tells us... We then wait an additional 2hrs before meeting a nurse and still havent been seen by a doctor. Being here with my sister with sickle cell, she should not have to wait all this time just for her to be seen. This is unacceptable

Hopefully we are seen soon!!!!

I couldn t be more thankful with every one in this hospital. The ER team was very professional and the ICU crew was super kind and attentive. It was good to see how They treat every patient with professionalism and care.

The service at Methodist is not adequate at all. If you come to emergency, their expectation is you get worse first because they don t have any commitment! There is no ETA how long you will be in the ER before they move you to a room. After first visit, my mom never wanted to go back there. The experience is same for almost all of my relatives.

Only one word sums up this hospital, which would make a 3rd world medical facility in some poor country look good: YUUCCHHH!! An unmitigated disaster wrapped around a catastrophe inside of a dozen ship wrecks. Need I say more?

Horrible the pits, God aweful... I was in the pediatric Ed and upon waiting to go in some of the doctors were asking patients next to me what brought you in the hospitals.. first of all they call the patient by their name, so HIPPA is extremely violated because I heard all of her business how she was on 40mg of estrogen and so on, damn.. this is not discret at all. This was by far the longest ER visit known to man.. this is the 21st century people get with the program... Faster Ed visit... from 12pm to 5pm wow.. no food, no great customer at all... all I get is this is the ED...so I need to wait.. wow... this is money does that wait as well.. I think not... I cannot come to this Ed if I do I will have to mentally prepare that I am coming to a third world country ED with no water and food...

I had a miserable experience with outpatient surgery in 2009 and thought that surely in a decade things had improved. But no. I have now been sitting in a waiting room for 75 minutes past my appt time, and there are FOUR people ahead of me. And the bathroom is disgusting.

Good hospital. Got face lacerations requiring stitches. Short lines and I was processed almost immediately. Nice staff. They did a good job on my stitches. Highly recommend going here if you are in an emergency.

Worst hospital ever. I waited with my mother who was in a lot of pain for almost three hours and I asked the ladies at the desk twice when we were going to be seen and they said I need to be patient and wait to be called. As soon as my mother and I got up to walk out of there to go to another hospital they called her name. It took me to tell them we were leaving to be seen. That s nonsense and not how a hospital should work. I m aware of what goes on in the emergency room and how it can get busy but when I see people getting called before us that arrived AFTER us, that is just very unfair. We were here for a total of six hours. Not a very functional place to go to for an emergency.

A poorly run ER department managed by absent minded nurses, nursing assistants and unprofessional doctors.

My mom got admitted back on Feb 15th, it took over 36 hours to get her admitted to the hospital. The nurses tends to ignore their patients unless you keep them honest and the doctors always get distracted.

The medical staff promise to send meds to the pharmacy. They never did. And the home health aide agency they coordinate with are incompetent.

Avoid Brooklyn Methodist if you can help it.

Staff has bed side manners. Very attentive and caring. Unlike kings county staff, they didn't give me Tylenol and send me home after a 5 hour wait. They actually took blood. Xray and gave me the right medication for my diagnosis. I had my daughter here. It's good to know the ER is just as nice.

Do not go here, youre going to die... My girlfriend and I went, and one of the nurses told her that she sounds like a google search. She already has a bachelors in psychology, so I do not understand why having an education and doing research prior so that they can do their job better is insulting to a nurse. They made her wait, gave her the WRONG drugs and said "Oops". How are you going to mess this up? The patient next to her died. Its a joke, they are playing with peoples lives because the nurses are too insecure with themselves. I believe peoples lives are more important. I suppose high school must have sucked for them. Trust me, do not go here. If you show any knowledge, they are going to take offense to it and give you the wrong drugs and have someone die in front of you. It also smelled like piss. Disgusting, rude, and a joke of a hospital.

Our emergency room experience at New York Methodis...

Our emergency room experience at New York Methodist was definitely helpful during a difficult time. The head doctors on the floor were very responsive and also good listeners, which are not all that common in the healthcare field.

The doctors took the time to understand our needs and our feelings and take them into account when making a decision.

The only downside is the area is relatively small, and it is New York City, so it can get to be a very packed space.

If you're in Brooklyn and need an ER, definitely ask if you can go to NYM

All my Great Doctors are affiliated with NYM. The Emergency Room however is below standards. I got turned away by a "Secretary", who told me "They couldn't do anything for me" after I walked in one day and said, "I need help, I'm feeling overwhelmed with Stress and I'm Struggling". I was turned away...I eventually reached my Doctor who said, "Go to the Emergency Room". I told her I did and was turned away. She said, "Go back". I didn't...I got my "fragile state of mind" on the Subway and traveled to a Hospital near my home, who took me in right away...I have been an inpatient several times and because my Great Doctors are on Staff there is the only reason I go back...

God awful. You never get an answer when you call. I made a neurologist appointment 6 MONTHS in advance cause that was their earliest appointment. I called the day before, after calling about 10 times over the course of 5 hours, I finally got through and spoke to a man who assured me that my appointment was in fact the next day and even though I had changed insurance I would still be seen. Got to the appointment and was told my insurance wouldn't be taken. Receptionist told me to call my insurance when I asked what I should do now? She was very rude and offered no help and told me they didn't have my call the day before on her record? I asked who gave me the false information and she had no answer. Won't be going back to the clinic.

Both labor and delivery nurses were dismissive, rude and seemed more busy outside the room. The morning nurse actually moved the IV I was attached to the other side of the room because it was more convenient for her, although I expressed based on the position I was most comfortable in it wouldn t work. Terrible experience overall for a first time mom. I had a drug reaction and the overnight nurse was dismissive to the fact I m laboring and I felt like my skin was being ripped off from the inside . She said, well the monitor still has to stay on. Which is understandable but how about trying to help the pain in my skin so the monitors don t feel like hot coals. The mother baby nurses were a little better. Training needs to be done on not addressing important issues while visitors are present or asking first is it ok to discuss ABC with you now or later. I had one great nurse in post-partum. Other than that, I ll give birth somewhere else the next time.

As someone who s been in and out of doctors most of their life, I can say in full confidence that the New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital is one of the worst hospitals to take care of you. In a life threatening situation, I d rather take the LIRR to Hempstead then walk 3 blocks.
Heads up if you do take the risk, the staff will do the absolute minimum and charge you as much as they can. And good luck if you are trying to get in touch with their financial team if you need help or to discuss the bills that don t quite make sense. It s obvious this place cares more for money then actually human care.

Came here today for knee replacement surgery. The care I received from every single person I ve met here has been absolutely top shelf. I ve seen some of the negative reviews and to be honest I was a bit worried about coming here. Wow I was worried for nothing. They check up on me constantly. And when I push the call button they come almost immediately. Most of the bad reviews I ve seen were regarding the emergency room. If you need to go to an emergency room you re almost always going to have a bad experience. There are life and death decisions being made and people with life and death issues. There will almost always be things that go on that are questionable. But the care I received at this hospital is the best I ve ever experienced in my life. Also the place is very clean. If you have surgery scheduled here, do not be worried. You will be in great hands.

Do not take your kids here. The pediatric department is the worst, they didn t seem to know what they re doing. I sat, and waited for almost 2hrs for a doctor to tell me that my daughter seem healthy. Wait what? My daughter had a fever of 103, I gave her some fever reducer before I got there, but oviously she still have a slight fever and she s dehydrated!!! Never again!!!! I don t know about the adult section, but as for pediatric, run for your child/children life!!! Worst than Brookdale! This hospital doesn t deserve a star! Horrible!

Worst hospital threw out my whole second pregnancy had an appointment for a caesarean waited more than 12 hrs and couldn t eat all they kept saying was sorry as they kept helping other mothers deliver while I still sit here already saw bout ten newborn babies dont deserve no stars

Turn of the century ASYLUM style psychiatric floor...

Turn of the century ASYLUM style psychiatric floor. Do NOT send someone you care about to this hospital. They provide meds & a locked door. While there were a few kind nurses (thank god) there is no therapy, no therapeutic programming of any kind, no activities. Access to water is restricted, they never get a pass to go outside like other programs or even exercise, and the food is frequently inedible. (So yeah psychiatric care that starts with restricting the top most essential elements of mental health beyond meds: healthy diet, exercise, sunshine, water.) Staff was nonchalant about sexually predatory patients coming into her room at night, not to mention stopping him from being sexually inappropriate during meal time or really anytime in common areas. Another violent patient attacked and broke bones of a staff member. Complaining to patient services about the lack of therapeutic care, difficult unhelpful staff, and dangerous unsafe environment was met with a "what do you expect" attitude. They were unprofessional and unreliable regarding discharge planning and kept her WEEKS longer than necessary only to send her to a completely inappropriate program 3 hours away without even doing all the necessary paperwork!! Shame on this barbaric program. This is not about individual staff, this is wrong on deep fundamental level.

The life you save may be your own..this hospital is Awful!!
Since last August I have made appointments for consultation on bariatric surgery.
August-1st. -Appointment:
Was told my appointment was not in their system and I had no appointment for that day? so I made a second one.

October-2nd-Appointment:
Arrived to be told the doctor himself canceled the appointment and they gave me notice via my cell phone#
Guess what the number they had on file was not my number?! So another appointment was made.

December 3rd-appointment:
Arrived at 9:30 for a 10 o'clock appointment waited till 10:30 am
just to be told,AGAIN Not in the system and there was no appointment or files on me!!

What blew my mind was I had given them paper documentation,a doctor's referral and filled out a whole bunch of medical Insurance forms!! When I was last there ...and all of it went missing.
Plus I was called the night before with a confirmation call from them!!
This place is full of fraudulent people w/shabby work ethics and habits.

I would not give them any kind of vote of confidence. Instead if you are going in there for any kind of medical surgery; you better get an indelible marker and write on your body exactly what is to be done, because you may wake up missing something.

I just spoke to the administrator and she is going to work in this. I was shocked and happy to see that someone there actually cares. So from 1 star to 3.

Their high risk ob gyn clinic is horrible. Its hard to get an appointment. They only have 2 doctors and they are overwhelmed with patients. I haven't been able to see a doctor for 2 months because they are so booked. You can't even get a doctor on the phone. I ask the nurse to have a script sent for me she said ok but they never did. Horrible ob gyn clinic flow. The people are nice but thier system is not good if you really are high risk. As of now I am waiting to speak with the clinic's administrator. If no change im just going to have to find another clinic

Dr Kelly and staff....Hands down the BEST. First of all Im in the medical field. so i hate going to the dr because i know not everyone cares for you like you will care for u. came here to the er i was treated with the most respect , genuine care , and i never even thought strangers could feel like family esp when u sick and stressed out about it. Type of care that made me want to write this review when i don't even do these. Type of care that makes me want to come back with chocolate cake and coquito on holidays. Its not everyday you run into a doctor like dr kelly and the entire team including him . phenomenal. Im grateful for today Thank you . my gratefulness is at a lost for words and i promise I'll be back when u least expect it cnt thank you all enough. Your compassion was well needed.

Thiat s Happens To My Brother Somebody Do It Something: ( I Angel Rodriguez and I, have to say something about this Medicaid plan, one of the worst bad is healthfirst, they promised you how good they are. If you are going to a sergury, and then to rehab. They won't pay. After the sergury the hospital send you home. The hospital in Brooklyn and the healthfirst treat you like animal. They give you hart time for transportation, eve is your doctor fax those parper, the insurance would told you that they never got it. Don't make that mistake like me. Always look for good insurance not healfirst)

I just want to say that my experience with this hospital was absolutely fantastic . From start to finish. I was in ambulatory surgery care. The nurses on staff were very kind to me. Nurse Betty was sweet and funny. All the staff was great. My recovery care was also great Nurse Linda was absolute sweetheart to me. She was very caring and attentive and made me feel at ease. Thank you all for being so kind. I don't understand the bad reviews. But i understand everyone has different experiences.
