Very bad, I have called and called and lift messages and no answer back I am 39 weeks pregnant and they are going to cancel my food stamps I just got food stamps 3 months go and they are asking me to reapply and everything still the same, I dont understand, I go there they have me wait hours and hours and never called I'm to pregnant to sit there with a 4 year old. I have lived out in Suffolk county and the Department of social services is nothing like this they are so nice and helpful. Wish they could be nicer and call back .

My worker is giving me a run around for no reason. I am clearly qualify for it but, he choose to give me a hard time. Most of the workers over there are very mean and disrespectful. My worker told me I'm mad because I don't get what I want. I wish there was a place I can do a follow up. The help is there for people who needs it. They act like the help is coming from them.

They cancelled my case out of pettiness and I m pregnant. Now I have no insurance to cover my unborn daughter s hospital visit because these people cancelled my case because I was upset that I was told that they found out I have other open cases. You re not the one going through identity theft, I AM. They ve told me different reasons why they cancelled my case but the same reason why they mainly cancelled my case is because they simply wanted too. It s a shame that we re here asking for their help and they re taking advantage of us! They don t care about us, pregnant or not. They didn t even give me a day to figure out this identity theft situation. They told me on Friday that they found a NYC case that was opened on June 1st which I had NO idea about and they cancelled my entire case on Monday - not giving me any time to fix the situation. These people don t care about you. They just care about the money they make off of you and they power they have over you. I am pregnant working my ass off and I just found a stable home on my own without their help because nobody really accepts their crappy ass housing voucher. If I could do it, you all can too. Don t let these people try to play you. These people are sick.

Isn't there anything lower than a 1 star. My experience was no experience. No one would ever answer a phone so I never got to talk to anyone. Three different numbers all with the same message "away from my desk or out of the office". Despite numerous calls and leaving messages never received one call one call back. These people just do not respond to the public although that is their job. They are either terribly understaffed, untrained, or uncaring or all of these. A pathetic group that the Cihef Executive of the county should address as it is a very poor reflection of his management abilities.

They sent my mother a notice about Medicaid. We tried calling 5 times during their hours of operations waiting on the phone while it rang 30 to 60 minutes each time and never got to talk to anyone.
It starts you out on hold and then after 10 minutes or so it's just endless ringing.
I'm starting to wonder if the Medicaid line just routes to a phone that's in a locked closet or something.
Pretty much unless you know how to scam them they will intentionally put as many obstacles in front of you as humanly possible they will always try and find a way to blame you for their horrendous incompetence.in short they turn a rough part of your life from a hill into a mountain.
Loving, courteous, professional and COMPASSIONATE. They made me feel at home, helped my son and I, forever grateful. When you go there be respectful, and understand that many workers have hundreds of cases and people to help throughout the day, then have to deal with their own families and relationships at night, so be patient. It is a very difficult job, but very rewarding, in the long run, by helping families in need. The workers are here to help you. Let's all spread love.
This place is HORRIBLE. We had a woman named MARINO on our case to get food stamps as we were food insecure, and struggling. MARINO was so incompetent- lost papers, never answered the phone, nasty attitude, etc. We waited an entire day, hours and hours, to have a meeting with her and it never happened. They make your life miserable, accuse you of lying and try to close your case and deny you benefits that you QUALIFY for. How Marino still has a job in the food stamp division is beyond me. Don't they do performance reviews? I hope someone reads this and evaluates Marino.
Total garbage. I wish they would read these reviews!! They tell you to call and that someone will always answer. Well I've called I don't know how many numbers hoe many times and there's no answer then the answering machine is full!! That means every single time I have a question I gotta go down there! Awful just awful.
Extreme delays responding to communication. All phones set to msgs that discuss delays caused by holidays and vacations six to eighteen months prior. Clients cannot get working nnumbers to staff. Impossible to find Login. If you do find log in it tells you to use A browser many peoples equipment does not support.
Workers are very rude it s impossible to get through on the phone and when you go down there they treat you with no respect. If you re that miserable with your work quit and find another job you guys stink
As an employee of one of Long Island's largest non profits; I can concur that this place is a failure in totality!!!!! The horror stories our Social Workers convey regarding the lack of services and the total disregard for manners of DSS employees to clients is BEYOND appalling. As an individual who works in Administration, I can state that their handling of contracts leaves MUCH to to be desired; with their decisions trickling down to our employees and ultimately our clients who suffer the worst of consequences. Ms. Curran needs to clean this garage dump up and out!

Convoluted and confusing and repetitive phone system. Once you get to an actual line, it rings without pick up. Haven't received reimbursement services in 2 months and cannot reach anyone for assistance.
My Grandmother's case manager Mrs. G. Mott unit 2424A worker 2446a office 028 failed to do her job. I asked for her case to be transferred from Nassau county to Queens county. Instead of transferring her case as stated in the letter she sent us, she closed the case entirely. Therefore I am sitting in Queens Medicaid location where I still am unable to resolve this issue. I actually have to reapply her for Medicaid entirely. Government help is an excellent idea however the locations are always understaffed. Beyond that the people who are working are miserable, rude, and not at all helpful. They tend to find the easiest way out instead of actually trying. This needs to be re-evaluated. Let's be serious though no body cares.
Update: I did not have to reapply my grandmother. It is still unknown if the case manager did or did not do her job. Eventually, after months of being ran around in circles by Medicaid and social security my grandmother was issued a new Medicaid number. What I wrote in my original review still holds true. If the case manager did do her job properly and something went wrong no information was conveyed by any means. Social security is amazing but not ran properly.
Welp, the reviews speak volumes about their competency, work ethic, and over all customer service. I've visited this place many times in the past with my mom and I can attest to the behaviors of these ignorant and condescending folks. I used to live in Nassau County a few years ago and they seem to not have changed a bit. Please, if you don't have to be down there, don't go! I've been through the shelters and foster care with this agency and its simply unfathomable how they treat people in seek of assistance! They're judgmental fools with no form of education.

Never had to ever felt so low by another human being. Looked at an spoken to as of my needs were not important. I'm a victim of domestic violence. I shared my hardship and concerns for myself and my children and out current hardship we did not ask for. When all of my requested docs were sent in and handed in in person on more then one occasion they lost them forcing me to have to reapply over a d over again. This isn't the first time they have sent me away with no assistants which w nex terribly for the first time in all my ife. I'm appalled at there was nkind and then inconsiterate hearts
Totally frustrated with the service. I was with an 80-year-old lady trying to apply for her medicaid and the person in charge of this area told us that there was no longer this type of paperwork that a market place would look for, although she fulfilled all the requirements and necessary papers to do so. I asked her what is her care for an African American couple with the mediacaid roles and she answered, they are special cases. So far the 80-year-old lady as a citizen has not been able to obtain insurance. She has already been in the hospital and charges come that she cannot pay. Market place markets do not receive it because of its age. Everyone agrees that she should have Medicaid services. We don't know where to complain about the lack of help from this institution.
Called multiple times with no callback. Call the county executive to complain about the department not answering or returning voicemails. Got a call immediately the next morning.
They do not answer when one calls is terrible I have called to develop my medicaid and they do not answer I moved out of state and they have not treated me for the situation of the medicaid 7 months of pregnancy and I am not attended by that situation
Nassau county community if you are planning on apply for day care service get ready to be welcome with total disappointments and frustration because most of the people that you will meet there will treat you with no respect at all ..only 1-3 people working there are committed to good values in social service the rest of them are full of none sense I m just very sad because I did everything I was supposed to do and they messed up my paper work and now I have to go back and forth with people that don t care to help
The people that work here are mostly ignorant uneducated trash. The only requirement seems to be that you are able to pass a standardized test. These people are stupid, uncaring, liars, deceivers, and maniplators. Most of them are lazy and have poor to no work ethic at all. The all should be fired!!!! My tax dollars at work. SMDH!!!!!

I honestly had a good experience thank God with Ms. Bost, wow how helpful was she. She guided me step by step with some information I needed it and picked up the phone when I needed her, after a while she was switched to a different department but very helpful lady. God bless her
I liked absolutely nothing. I agree with Barbara gina and thomas' comments before me. I left crying. They don't care if u are broke, hungry and homeless with a baby for a month/months, they will put as many obstacles in front of u as possible. And they all have awful attitutudes. Every one of the personnel at North/ west EVERY. COUNTER. THEY WERE AWFUL. Minus the one lady that took my finger print. Thats it

If there was a zero rating, I would give it. They don't even look at you when you are asking a question. Give wrong paperwork to fill out because they interrupt you before you're finished explaining. Have been trying to call for three days, they don't answer phones either.
The waiting is annoying. Beside some of the social worker threat people with attitude and disrespectful. Isn t social worker job to help people? Because instead of encouraging people to do better and giving them the help if they can prove that they are eligible , they make people feel upset and miserable.
Need less than a star. When you call it says press 1 for English 2 for Spanish .when you do it recycles message. So you never get to speak to anyone,,ask question. It's a joke. They only help if your dishonest lowlife and know how to beat the system not if you have fallen on hard times and need temp help. Generations raises raise their families on it. They gave my niece such a run around... She lost her job & place after a car accident, she just needed temporary assistance until she could get back on her feet, they kept changing the appointment on her & telling her she missed it, then telling her that she didn't have documents that no one told her she needed to bring, closing her case, forcing her to sleep at the train station. I, living in Wisconsin & her father in Virginia, called to ask if there was at least a shelter nearby that they could give her the info to because no one would really give her any information... The lady told me to have her ask & hung up on me, but she's been there every day for two weeks telling them that & they've still done nothing! I used to work at a DSS in Wisconsin that's been shut down (O.I.C.) because the employees were embezzling the funds... This place should definitely be investigated!!
I am giving one because I can t give zero stars to this place. Horrible! These people don t care about you and your time. They make you wait a really long time to then tell you that either the worker left already or that the worker is in lunch and that they can t take any paperwork for the worker. This place should be shut down, really embarrassing.

My father has been disabled since 2011 and was receiving Medicaid benefits due to $0 income and not being able to work. Tried to recertify him for Medicaid again in May of 2018, to be told he makes too much money and is above the poverty threshold therefore is denied Medicaid. If you have no income, how are you above the poverty threshold?! Called to speak with Ms Love who never returned my phone calls due to her being on vacation as per her supervisor Ms Siri who was extremely rude and arrogant and wanted nothing more than to be done with our conversation. I was told I don t know what to tell you, that s the decision that was made, there s nothing I can do. I was then told to appeal the decision if I felt it was incorrect meanwhile my father is getting bill after bill due to medical issues and can t recieve an answer as to WHY it was denied in the first place or HOW they came to that determination! Called back requesting to speak with someone else who stated she would call me back and didn t until a day later. It s pathetic that people can work in customer service and for governmental agencies and treat patients/customers who are in desperate need like they are the scum of the earth. Would rather deal with another insurance company than to have to deal with these inconsiderate workers. THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE RETRAINED AND OR RECONSIDERED FOR THEIR POSITIONS! look at the reviews on this website ... something clearly needs to be done and ASAP.
I have C.H.F. , C.O.P.D., I can not work and I get $22.50 bi-weekly yet even still they threatening take away my benifits I cant survive on that !!!!!!
Really cannot give a star. I got a letter and I have a deadline to submit a response so I'm trying to call the office for the last two weeks for Ms. A Harris for the last two weeks almost everyday. I cannot get a response nor can I leave a voicemail. It is such a bad service there.
I moved to another state. As a non custodial parent, I'm amazed at their inability to get the child support payments I've made to my daughter's mom. They're as stupid, inefficient, incompetent and inconsiderate as the family court system itself.
If I could give this hell hole 0 stars I would. I can t pull the race card because all employees have nasty attitudes, very unprofessional. I don t understand how half of them are even employed in a government building. Ms. Hulsen is going to get reported. Who are you to tell someone you re not going to help them and that they re going to get evicted? She s a bitter old white woman. If you don t like helping people and if you obviously don t care, you shouldn t be working as a human services worker. And when someone asks to speak to your supervisor, you re not supposed to hang up on them. This place should be condemned. That s wishful thinking though. So they need to get rid of their employees and hire people who actually cares about their clients. Not bitter old white/black women with attitudes that should be left at home. Don t bring your personal life to work taking it out on your clients. When people call, they should be able to get through, but that s not the case either. These people have no right to degrade people and make them feel less than. That s how ms. Hulsen made me feel and I will make it my business to get her fired or a change in position. She needs to be a janitor. Clean up the trash in that building or just throw her in the garbage but she definitely shouldn t be a caseworker. When I broke my foot last year, I couldn t work and submitted ALL of my documents from my doctor. I didn t want to stay home not doing anything so I enrolled myself back into school. Ms. Hulsen said that didn t matter and that DSS wasn t going to help me pay. When I first opened my case with DSS, I wasn t working so they gave me TANF. I was getting over 400$ every other week. I am a single mother of 3. I had no problem with that. Here it is, I m not working again and I get 27.10 every other week. When it s time to recertify, I was asked how do I survive off of 27.10? I explained, however it s your fault that this is what I have to survive off of. You all handle my budget, now you want to know how I make ends meet? As I stated, ms Hulsen hung up on me when I requested her supervisors number. I finally got it, and just as I expected, I couldn t get through to him either. I don t have the funds to keep taking trips down there just to get a response. I hope these reviews get into the right persons hands because this has got to stop. They don t care and they re interfering with people s livelihoods. It s really sad. I pray my kids never have to go through this.

"Talk" about customer service at this place!! If i didn't need the temporary help i would have never step foot in this place. The majority of people who work here are the most rude and obnoxious people i have ever encountered! When you call they never pick up their phones, you leave a msg and don't hear from them until you call again (1000 times).
