If you need and qualify for help there is a significant chance you won't get it, even if you submit everything required on time. Employees are unhelpful and blatantly disrespectful and are known to deliberately give false information to discourage people from applying for services. This location needs to be thoroughly investigated for corruption and neglect and the employees need to be held accountable for their inability to do their jobs properly. I shudder to think how many lives have been ruined or lost because of the intentional incompetence of this place. If you go here, be prepared for a dehumanizing and degrading experience where case workers are unnecessarily rude and uncaring. And with the new rules in effect you are required to maintain a certain level of income to qualify for some programs, meaning in several cases the people who need help the most desperately will not receive it. This place is a travesty and a blight and deserves nothing more than to be razed to the ground and all of the employees fired and investigated on criminal charges.

With out department of social services who would pay your rent and buy your food , some people are so selfish .

Even when you follow all of the rules they still figure out some way to mess with you..then when you try to call and speak to someone they never answer the phone. Even if you end up getting in contact with someone they send you to the voice message system and not even then can you leave a message because it's full.

This place is horrible! I called a thousand times and nobody answered. I decide to go and get an application and the people there were very rude. This old lady started yelling at me for no reason in front of other people. Treated me like I'm a idiot. These people look and act like they hate their job. I think is time to hire new staff.

This place does not want to help you. I been going here for over a month and my kids still don't have any insurance. I have been coming here every single day begging for help the people at the windows won't allow me to speak to no supervisor you can't get the supervisors numbers...Oh and not to mention you speak to the supervisor and they are just as rude . It's so ridiculous! I feel like if you don't like your job or you don't want to help us don't work in that field! Someone has to do something with this place!!!!

Tried calling to get information for my sister's medicaid. Was on hold for 20 minutes and then it said "we are experiencing high call volume please hang up and call again" and there is only 5 minutes left until they "do not answer calls" even though the office closes at 4 o'clock and its 3:45. Bad service I can't imagine whats more important to them then doing their jobs.

Valits my 12 amendment as a citizen of america also when u try to speak to a representative about claim it denys me and sais my birth year is wrong quick to take money but impossible to pay up and drop down

Not all employees are as disrespectful as others are,but some of the ones I've come in contact with have no class,untrained,and disrespectful trash. Those are the ones I give the same respect that they give to me. They talk down to me and I talk down to them. What comes around, goes around.

Rude staff and Horribly run place. Nobody answers phones and the inboxes are full. At risk of losing benefits due to poor communication!

I have been calling for a few weeks now. Very unfair to those in need.

This place has.actually gotten better. I don't know how since the staff all seem the same or maybe at my last few trips it was overly busy. We just there a week ago and it's so much better. No line at the info desk. I had a 15 minute wait to talk to someone and I was good to go. Hoping this is my last trip having to use SNAP. Fingers crossed the Doctor clears me to go back to work.

I thought torture was illegal in this country. If you come here be ready to jump through a ton of hoops and wait a long time to get next to nothing.

THIS IS NOT AN ORGANIZATION THAT IS FRIENDLY TO VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. They WILL disregard the specifics of your case and PUT YOUR LIFE IN DANGER even when they don't have to, ALL so they can avoid having to give you the support that YOUR OWN tax dollars have been paying for. This organization puts on a front like they are domestic-violence-friendly, but in truth THEY DON'T CARE WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU. They have policies in place that WILL PUT YOU IN HARM'S WAY. They aren't flexible, they won't take your situation into consideration and warn you ahead of time about anything in the process that might put you in danger, and they won't offer you any other resources or direct you elsewhere for help if they've decided not to help you. Unless you are well-trained in law or you have a lawyer who can be with you every step of the way don't even bother coming here. Find a non-profit organization with good reviews. When you're able to, do what you can to help shut this place down because there are actually non-profits out there that AREN'T getting a guaranteed paycheck from taxpayer dollars that ARE ACTUALLY DOING THEIR JOBS. Another thing is do not come here if you are low on funds. You will waste what little money you have going back and forth due to them being INTENTIONALLY EVASIVE about what is required for the application process. THEY WILL SPRING THINGS ON YOU AT THE LAST MINUTE AND FORCE YOU TO HAVE TO COME BACK AGAIN AND AGAIN. THEY USE THIS ALONG WITH MANY OTHER TACTICS TO DETER PEOPLE FROM COMPLETING THE APPLICATION. MY WORKER DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER TO HIDE HER INTENTION OF DISMISSING MY CASE. OTHER TACTICS THEY USE IS being rude, dismissive, and cold right off the bat - It doesn't matter how respectful or non-argumentative you are with them. They will act vicious, standoffish, rude, disrespectful, and nasty with you, all to deter you from following through with the application process. It's just sick and disturbing how they treat people here - they behave like the clients they are paid to serve are a bother to them and like their "job" is to just get rid of them as fast as possible so they don't have to do work. They will make up rules on the spot or not inform you of the rules beforehand to trip you up so that you get disqualified. They are so corrupt! When I was there I heard an employee tell a blatant lie to a woman about their policies. When the woman told them that another employee had said something conflicting, the employee acted like she was a crazy person and called the cops on her when the woman refused to walk away without confirmation from the employee's superior. I checked the handbook later and the employee did in fact BLATANTLY LIE to this woman about their policy and about what they are SUPPOSED to offer. This has to be illegal!

The ONLY people who are going to get real support from this fraudulent organization are SCAMMERS and FRAUDS who are just like the people who work here. People who are genuinely in need of help and who have been paying tax dollars all their life WON'T GET MUCH SUPPORT HERE. God knows how many deaths, murders, and suicides this depraved organization has on their hands. They need to be sued and the people who work here need to be investigated, FIRED, exposed, and NEVER ALLOWED to work in this field again. They should never be allowed to interact with vulnerable people again. There's nothing more depraved than STEALING MONEY and RESOURCES that are intended to be used to serve the poor, the sick, and the abused. It is no wonder that the 2 people who abused me as a child were social workers. I told myself that not all social workers were like that, but Nassau County Social Services has proven me wrong. These people are as cold-blooded as my childhood abusers. I sincerely wish I had never gone here because this experience has made me sick to my stomach. I hope to never lay eyes on an organization like this again and I pray to God that all the people this organization has harmed get justice one day.

Just shameful. I found myself in a position where I was depending on support from my soon to be ex husband and he stopped paying me for an entire year. I was responsible for caring for a special needs child and had no family and or anyone else to help me. I turned to DSS for help with food and was told I made too much income since my husband sent me a check for $2,000 four months ago. Their reasoning was that I was indeed receiving support. Sure, it was only $2,000 for a year but it was support. They put you through so much humiliation you just give up after awhile.

Horrible. Disgusting Agency. Have called for over a week to help two senior citizens of Nassau County get some information and no one answers any phone contact. Most voice mails are full and disconnect. I was able to leave some messages on a few representatives voicemails and no one ever calls back. Such a disservice for the elderly. We should just stop paying taxes for this agencies and shut them down. All we do is provide hundreds of people county high paying jobs with major benefits and no one assists anyone in need. Deplorable.

They don't answer mail. They do not answer their phones or return phone calls. What a pathetic place.
