Monkey Puzzle Beefeater Review

Really nice staff. Very helpful and obviously rushed off their feet due to lack of staff. Sonia was extremely nice and helpful and wasn't phased when the software on her till crashed! I was really impressed when her manager came and sorted the issue straight away despite all of them being very busy and had been working hard on long shifts. Can't praise all the staff enough. They were always smiling and made a fuss of my 5 year old daughter. Perfect.

Was there with family for birthday dinner.
Some of the food was good. There was no vegan options during Christmas. All that we could have was jacket potato and beans.
The service was ok.
The place inside looks amazing.

Food is good but services is slow and lack of attentions!!! Floor are so filthy and so many crumbs lying around waiting to be crushed upon. Should have clean the floor for next clients!!!!

Food was Ok, apart from 4 people ordering and 1 person didn't receive their starter, mains where brought out before starter plates where collected, seems like the kitchen is in a rush and the poor waiting staff get all the complaints

The guy at the bar argumentative and unpleasant: firstly trying for us to go to the restaurant to have the waiter service, then asking for us to check the table number although was just in front of his face as "he couldn't know all the numbers...", then trying to add comments on any order.
Making the whole experience annoying when it should be relaxing and pleasant.

The great thing about seasonal variance is although seasonal, it is predictable. It wasnt the staffs fault ultimately, but waiting near on 10 minutes for sauces whilst food gets cold, bottomless drinks were bottomed, waiting on refills at the bar personally didn't speed things up.

If you catch this place when management get stock and staffing right, I imagine it's rather pleasant.

Good staff, and they obviously worked hard to get a good social distance scheme in place. An allergy menu was helpful as we had a child who is allergic to milk. They did make a mistake on the order hence 4 stars, but still a good venue.

The food was so good, i had the chicken and ribs and i wish i ordered a full rack as they were so tasty. You have to call up in advance if you want to be seated in the restaurant but there are always tables in the pub section.

Do not expect hot food served within reasonable time of ordered around 630-7pm.

Honestly can't think why I put 2 stars...but have to change to 4....our waiter was top draw...polite attentive without being annoying new menu looked appetizing we all had burgers...great choices very tasty. Will go again. I never give 5* unless I find exceptional service above and beyond.

Lovely staff foof and atmosphere. We are regulars here and always have a great time. Have to recommend brekkie there fantastic deal.

Had breakfast here after staying the night in the premier inn. We were there shortly after it opened for the morning. They operate a help yourself buffet for both continental and English breakfast. Unfortunately this meant the fried eggs were stuck to the serving dish and skinned over from sitting under the lamps. The scrambled eggs were a congealed lump and the bacon drying out. The cold selection very limited compared to other premier inn affiliated places. Music annoying at 7.30 in the morning.
The staff were really helpful if a bit too willing to whip your plate away as the last bit was on its way to your mouth.
Dread to think what it would be a like a little later when full of holidaying children.

Slow service after ordering food. We had our grandson with us (20 months) thought his food would come out 1st, but it came out with ours about 20 minutes later, so he was getting bored and tired. Could understand the wait if really busy but it wasn't. My fish was overcooked and husband's veg undercooked.. Nice place, shame about the service

Good food at a fair price. Got a great table at the top of the restaurant. Only downside is we were asked to leave our table before we were ready. Seemed a bit rushed as a result.

Food was great. Service was brilliant and very very fast. We had our evening meal here and breakfast. It borders the Premier Inn next door.

The food is fantastic.
But the air con is broken, so its Freezing on a February night, or goes to the next extreme and is boiling hot according to the staff.
They also have a drain problem so there is a strange smell, thanks to storm Dennis.
But the staff are lovely the place needs a revamp and if you don't mind the staff wearing coats and yourself for dinner its brilliant.

The server was brilliant.. The portion was so small i had check i hadn't ordered a kids portion. It was awful. Are chips rationed? Tiny. TINY TINY. THE CHEF SHOULD BE ASHAMED. Waited 6 mins 30 sec before anyone decided to serve the 6 of us waiting. The place is awful. If i could give it zero stars i would. Shame on you. I WILL NEVER GO BACK.. AWFUL

The poor staff were great, but they were so overran and rushed off their feet that the only order that was right was the drinks. The food was ok, but wasn't what we ordered. I feel very sorry for the staff, the restaurant is bound to get busy being so close to Chessington, so they really need to ensure they are ready to deal with it.

Food is not as good as it should be from a beefeater

Booked for a family group as a meet up for Lapland visit. Waitress was brilliant and the food was good. Had picked this venue as we wanted something family friendly and it lived up to that, is a discount for Lapland visitors.

Went with 2 guests after seeing the picture of a juicy steak advertised outside. Beefeater I assumed was known for its succulent steaks. How wrong I was as the steak I had was dry and not so appealing like the picture outside. My guests both ordered fish and chips and the fish did not look fresh at all and the batter was nowhere near crispy as it should have been and instead was soft and was over battered. The chips also tasted like they had been left around for a few hours and were nowhere near fresh. Not a very good experience

Only had breakfast but this was the best beefeater we have been to for this. Staff were very friendly and helpful

Stayed at the premier inn last night which was fine booked full breakfast at the monkey puzzle we have eaten their before and the full English was to die for ! Omg what has happened the the help yourself Buffett was cold and I mean fridge More

Amazing service , polite and patient staff. Great seating and food . A good choice for a Christmas dinner get -together with friends and family.

Avoid ... Bad food and bad service. Slow service and cold tasteless beef.

Awful experience. We had prebooked but no tables were available despite arriving 10 mins early. Breakfast was a limited menu (due to a delivery problem). Most hot food was barely warm and tables were left uncleared for up to 30 mins, despite people queing up waiting. There were lots of tables available in the bar area, the conservatory and upstairs vut the waitress was told that these were not allowed to be used (very strange!). Floor was littered with a mixture of beakfast food and last nights offerings too.
We stayed at the premier inn next door which was lovely and would stay here again, we will definately go somewhere else for breakfast.

My husband and I went on a Saturday about 5pm. We've been before and had great food, but service has been a bit slow. And this time it lacked any ambience. We were sat downstairs and it was draughty and cold which made us want to hurry up and leave. Also the food was average. Shame because we've had some good meals here in the past.

Been here a few times now and absolutely loved everything, the food is perfectly cooked and the steak in particular is always perfectly done to how I've asked. The service here has always been excellent to my experience, even during the lunchtime and dinner time rushes.

Tonight my family and I had took advantage of the 5 meals at a fiver summer saver menu. All 4 of us were more than happy with our meals. The fish and chips I had was perfect. They added cheese to my sons burger and only charged us 50p.4 big More

There was 4 of us in total, we arrived later than my other friends, (about 5-10mins) we looked at the menu and picked what we wanted, but were unsure if we ordered at the bar or a waitress/waiter toke our order, after going to the bar to ask, the waitress came over, good service no issue, food wasn't great in terms of temperature. We went to order desserts but the waitress put them on the house due to the wait at the start, we didn't ask for this or complain and we didnt expect this. Left very happy and will probably visit again

Steve and his team always go out their way to provide great service. Tasty food, lovely restaurant and helpful staff. Can't wait to return! The restaurant was very covid safe.

We stopped here after our coach broke down. 50 of us came in and ordered drinks and food. They handled our large and energetic group, staff remained cool and composed throughout and we enjoyed our unexpected pitstop!

Despite half the tables being empty, we were told by a stressed out looking manager that there would be an hour wait due to most of his staff calling in sick. Not what you want to hear when you have 2 soaking wet children in toe, after a miserably wet day at Chessington. Obviously we left for the next pub down the road.

Great breakfast at good price. Kids eat free and really good social distancing measures in place.

After a great day at Chessington we came here and had a fantastic meal with good food, great service from Rachael F, she couldn t do enough for us, top waitress

Went here for dinner last night. Service was very slow so slow that us and other tables were unsure whether it was table service or whether we had to order at the bar. We waited an hour for our meals. When they arrived the kids pasta was awful my 5yr old wouldn't eat it. When we tasted it we understood why...how you can mess up pasta in a tomato sauce takes some doing but the sauce was watery and completely tasteless. The restaurant was also cold...two members of our party wanted to put our coats on. Will not return in a hurry.

There vegan burger was the most delicious vegan burger I've ever tasted. Beautiful surroundings with helpful and friendly staff.

Good food and prices are reasonable. Outside seating and nearby to Chessington World of Adventures. Breakfast is excellent.

First time me and gf have been to a beef eater. This place is lovely. Great atmosphere, the food was lovely. Priced right. Enjoyed so much we went to another beef eater at Epsom couple of days later was also great but Monkey puzzle came out on top.

Really friendly staff who couldn't be more helpful. Food was great for a reasonable price and the restaurant is well decorated meaning a nice place to go for dinner with the family. Toilets both upstairs and downstairs so whilst sitting upstairs may not be suitable for all, there's no long walk to either set.

My meal was nice but the other 2 meals could off been warmer and the roast beef was a little fatty chewy other wise great helpfull friendly staff good service help happy eating there with social distance ing

Poor quality food and poor service. My wife's food was burned and had to be returned.

The steak was full of fat the chips were cold the staff were friendly but not very welcoming

Upon arrival the place seemed outstanding, however, after over half an hour of being seated we were only able to order drinks, twenty minutes later, our drinks arrived. Shortly after, we were able to order our food. 45 minutes passed before food arrived, two plates were sent back because they were cold, not even warm, cold cooked food. It was sent back and microwaved(problem being was one of the dishes was sure and turf so the fish came back like rubber!!) They were no longer edible, a few that had ordered fries complained that they were rock solid. Before we knew it, we had been there for three and a half hours, so dessert went out the window, which we were all looking forward to. The service was shocking, 1 waiter served 13 of us whilst other staff stood idle!!

Nice place and service was great by the waitress but the meal took an hour to come out and tbh my steak was not the best very tough and loads of fat on it . That's real bad for a place when it's called Beefeater

Worst Sunday roast ever. The chicken tasted boiled and slimy, no crispy skin, vegetables overcooked but cold, and both roast potatoes and fries overcooked/hard and cold.
