For the first time, a wonderful Mariinsky Theater was visited with a child, but the impression was only negative. Our seats were occupied and the staff did not even try to help us. As a result, after 20 minutes of swearing, they got dressed and left.

The most magnificent and fascinating music theater in St. Petersburg, but perhaps also in Russia if not in Europe. On the other hand it was the place where the first of the greatest works of the greatest composers were celebrated, and not only Russians. The atmosphere you breathe is always magical regardless of the work that is represented ... I will never tire of going there whenever I can! Legendary and fantastic place!

Such a beautiful theater. I saw ballet and opera at this theatre. The Russian talent was amazing and a once in a lifetime experience. The best way to get tickets is through the hotel or better yet a travel agent. One must remember that every country is different. Prices are different for non Russians. My memories of this gorgeous theatre, the talented people, and the Russian culture are my most precious.

A magnificent theater inside, but quite inconspicuous, compared to the architecture of St. Petersburg, outside. They sat very high, in the last tier and on the side, the scene was not visible to the whole. It s better not to spare money on a place closer to the stage. The ballet itself, the music is magical.

The history of culture is extended here and now by wonderful and talented performers of the classics. But the complete lack of restoration of the building makes me sad.

We were sitting in the mezzanine to the right of the stage, I could clearly see from the 1st row, but, of course, not all the corners, but my mother from the 2nd was not so good. Plus, no luck with a neighbor blowing his nose and fidgeting the whole performance. We watched the Bakhchisarai Fountain , a vivid performance, it was a long time ago, but I still remember Tatar dances, twine in flight and a saber whistling in the air) I advised my colleague, she went after the impression of day 2, then led her friend there, then another one. That's how word of mouth works)

The theater is magnificent! Today I watched the opera by Rigoletto, I liked it, just think how many generations of different kinds of people have seen the walls of the Mariinsky.

It is crowded with many people as it is a famous performance hall, but the air conditioner was not enough and it was hard in hot weather. But it was a great time that I could not keep my eye on the performances with the best ballet and quality of the stage.

Opera Verdi "Aida" is a beautiful classical production. The concert hall of the historical stage, in spite of the crystal and gilding, is some kind of chamber, very cozy. No high partitions on the mezzanine, chairs can move, everything is perfectly visible and audible. The only thing is quite difficult to get out of the theater: narrow aisles, people squeeze hard ...

We have been seeing "Swan Lake" and would recommend it to everyone. A beautiful dance and the way the dancers move, the music of the live Oscar is fantastic. And the theater is beautiful.

The performance was really astonishing (marvelous leading singers' voices, decorations, actors' outfits) but there are five things which I constantly dislike.
The navigation, all signs are written in Russian, only.
The subtitles, what was gotten to those who translated the screen play? It seems like a set of words which are poorly translated. It works only to get the general idea. I hope the Russian version is much better.
The audience, right at the end of the performance some people jumped out of seats and headed to exits. It seemed like they were sick of it and finally happy to leave.
The cloakrooms, someone in queue can easily hit you or give you a refreshing punch into your back without any excuses.
The staff, I've read nice feedbacks about eng speaking staff at Marinsky. However, it didn't work to me. All staff members which I had a chance to refer don't speak eng or hardly squeezing words. Google translator n gestures helped, only.

We went to see a ballet in the oldest room and it was magic! A splendid place, a beautiful interpretation and excellent acoustics! I advise to book at least two weeks in advance because places go quickly! To top it all you can drink and eat at intermission (for our part it was champagne, caviar and macarons) and we feasted.

I do not like opera. Let's go for her husband's sake. Sadko. Terrific! Under a hundred artists on stage, costumes, effects! Mariinsky !!! Amazing theatre, great performances and an excellent historic building. Go for Boris Godunov and you won't regret it...actually just go and you won't regret it. No matter what you see. Third tier seats are cheaper but there is still clear visibility from first and second rows, towards the centre.

If you want to experience classic Russian opera and ballet, you basically have two real options: Bolshoi in Moscow and Mariinsky in St.Pete. The latter is obviously more modest in terms of the entourage, but also much more affordable, while the level of performance is pretty much the same.

This is an amazing place! The performances are great, the artists are brilliant!

The magic of the old days seems gone. They overbook seats (10 instead of 8 people in a box) - impossible to sit even halfway comfortable and super noisy because there is absolutely no space. Also, horrible unfriendly staff. If you want to enjoy culture my advice is to go somewhere else.
