2 theater is better, more and everything is visible from anywhere

Storied and a place of gravitas. The place is quite warm in the summer and might distract you from the performance

Everything is very beautiful and atmospheric. The theater is beautiful. However, you can t take drinks with you, and the local buffet uses the bulletin price tag !!!!! But still great!

Ancient theater, the atmosphere is solemn, and people come in T-shirts and jeans. But there are also very elegant! I recommend to come to the ballet, this is traditionally the strong side of the Mariinsky Theater.

We atanded a lovely play called "love drink" in its original Italian language, one has to love the opera to understand, this experience can't bu put into words. Simply breathtaking.

Historic theater, although the building is pretty shabby. The prices in the buffets are cosmic. One sandwich costs from 300 rubles. But the troupe is wonderful and the performances are interesting.

Swan Lake: a decent setting! there were 2 intermissions, but there were such lines in the buffet, on the first I managed to buy some water, on the second I ran for champagne)))

Unless you get floor tickets or first row balcony you won't be able to see anything at all unless you stand. Just watch it on YouTube instead. Save your money.

We went to the Nutcracker on January 31. Despite the price of tickets, they were generally very satisfied. Beautiful interiors, wonderful ballet soloists, but:
1. Awesomely high prices in the buffets, while in the buffets do not accept bank cards
2. Corps de ballet is not synchronous in places
3. Despite the training of the orchestra by Gergiev, they coordinated 2 times

Beautiful as an architectural structure. Unfortunately, the performances were not worth much

Watched a ballet here and it was a really good experience, the interiors was really pretty too! The theatre was full, so it's advisable to book online!

The best theater in Russia in my opinion. Never disappointed. Beautiful costumes and scenery. Actors are real professionals.

We went to the Nightingale. Beautiful setting, beautiful costumes. Powerful returns, tears made.

It would be a crime to come to SPB and not go to the Mariinsky! This place is full of history and one can feel the soul of the place there. The acoustic is amazing and the genuine decoration gives all its charm to the theater. I wouldn't have been surprised to see the Tsar there! The ballet Gisele was just impressive. Even if you aren't a fan of classical ballets, you will not regret to be there, at least once in your life!

for a long time I wanted to visit the old stage of the Mariinsky Theater, because ballet horsecruns on the stage of the Mariinsky Theater 2 were not impressed absolutely. Well, since Maman visited us, it was a sin not to go to anything together. the choice fell on the sleeping beauty.
the impression was spoiled already at the entrance ... FRAME! frames in the old theater! this is crazy ... these frames will not save you in any way, just understand this. nowhere is there, only here)
the next disappointment were the seats. we had tickets for the third tier, it's understandable that these are the cheapest tickets (1600 rubles), all that, but you can probably respect your visitors more .. it's more than 3 hours to sit on narrow hard and uncomfortable benches - this is a new kind of torture of some kind! and people with back problems, joints, and so on. in general it is contraindicated to sit there! even in the stalls there were not comfortable chairs, but chairs! usual creaky uncomfortable chairs!
a few words about the dancers. because I do not have much experience in ballet, I do not know if it's okay or not, that the gentlemen in the bandage were getting on every step of the way. then the picture will be destroyed, then the movements will be forgotten .. The main actors, too, did not always do everything perfectly. it's understandable that all this is very difficult, but in general it was such an impression that people do not try at all, from which the impression of a beautiful ballet was completely ruined.
if I ever want to attend a ballet, it will definitely not be the Mariinsky.
I would just like to wish that people who work in one of the most famous old and beautiful theaters of Russia simply stop thinking about enrichment and begin to finally evolve

Beautiful classic theater with many performances. Always incredibly beautiful and impressive scenery, there is a simultaneous translation. It s worth visiting at least once in order to plunge into the mystical and mysterious atmosphere of a place where one of the most difficult art forms is embodied in my opinion and at the same time feel all the chic and glossiness of the period of tsarist Russia, feel yourself connected to the sublime.
Tickets are not cheap, but more often than not, it's worth it. There are always promotions in the theater for cheap tickets. In my experience, tickets are from 1,000 to 5,000 rubles.
On the second floor of course there is a buffet.
I recommend taking the programs, they are paid, but there will be an understanding and an approximate idea of the production. And if the preparation is more thorough, you can get by with a description on the Internet on the theater s website.

The orchestra was great but we couldn't see anything on stage. Latecomers are admitted (despite signs saying otherwise) and staff couldn't be bothered to make them sit down - we ended up with a number of rude people standing in the aisles and blocking the view for a whole section of others, despite being asked politely to move. Actually the lack of staff was a big issue as nobody seemed able to find the correct seats, and it was very chaotic.
Take cash for the bar; at least the wine was nice. The cloakroom lady was very friendly and helpful.
We left at the interval and went for dinner instead. (Picture was taken before all the latecomers came and blocked the stage)

Just Whow.
I was here with some friends for a ballet performance of don quijote. I'm not really a ballet guy, but it was very impressive. The orchestra played very well, you could listen to it at any time. The stage design was very well designed and the dancers did their job very well. All in all a very nice experience that will stay with me forever.
It is a pity that so much money for drinks and snacks is required, but for these facilities it is just normal.

We visited the theater on the day of a free visit on Wednesday, defended a huge queue, but still got to the concert. Awesome !!! Interior luxury, onyx walls, marble floor, chandeliers and crystal ceiling decoration. Very friendly girls who sit down guests and a little grouchy gardiromnitsy. And the performance .... music ... delight !!! Recommend!

We got here in the morning since we had one ticket left which we had to return. The security guard was unfriendly and did not assist us.
Further it took 35min till the ticket counter lady arrived to take care of our issue.
In the evening we returned for the show and the vibe and glow was totally different.

Many people, great atmosphere, stunning auditorium.
The Show "Sylvia" was great and the scene on stage perfectly elaborated.

The chais were incredibly uncomfortable and this made the overall experience rather "bad". We were in pain throughout the show and somehow hoped that it would end soon.
We suggest you to invest here.

We hope Sylvia nr. 1 is doing well since she had to leave the piece after the 2nd break.

First time at the Mariinsky Theater. It has a very beautiful and rich interior, a worthy audience, many foreigners, which is understandable because this is an ancient theater where many aspire to get.

Amazing !!!! Opera Nightingale is amazing for visiting with a child. 45 minutes. The costumes are awesome.

Classic old scene of the Mariinsky Theater. The spirit of history in everything. We watched two one-act ballets, the Prodigal son of Shostakovich and the Firebird of Stravinsky. The troupe from Vladivostok. Soloists are not all equally good. We sat on the first tier, very uncomfortable. The scene was visible well, but the problem with the chairs: uncomfortable, very closely, like sprats in a can.

Watching a balket here is an expensive proposition. One can only enjoy the show if seated in the centre of theatre. If seated on the far edge one will not be able to see and appreciate the show. Transalation in English and other major European languages should be the narrative at the beginning of the show..

Mazepa is a cool opera. Highly professional performance. The magnificent building of the theater. In one breath, three hours of speacak passed.

You are sitting in history, enjoying classic works of ballet and opera where people watched them more than 140 years ago. This place is a treasure, although I think the wooden chair I sat on up in the left balcony was in service when the last tsar was a lad. They are still serving the same snacks (buterbrody with salami, smoked salmon, or orange caviar) as they did back in the day, but the cloyingly sweet cream horns were not on offer when I visited in November 2018. There aren't nearly enough restrooms but somehow it works out. I hope it never changes. But bring back the cream horns!

The old scene of the Mariinsky Theater looks amazing! The production itself was liked, the ballet actors and musicians created a fabulous atmosphere. But I'm sorry for the madness of what the theater is turning into! Repair, restoration, no words ... the sensation of the average entrance of the five-story building is created ...

A modern room equipped with technical innovations. It can be seen everywhere well. Above the stage is a line with the text of operas in Russian and English. Beautiful lobby with onyx walls. On the 3rd floor there is an exhibition of costumes. The buffet sells great pastries for the price of a restaurant.

Alina Somova is magnificent in the role of Aurora ("Sleeping Beauty")!

Not bad. True, people sometimes do not take their places. This is a feature of mentality. Cheap tickets in the main hall are very uncomfortable benches. Better not save. In the cafe cards are accepted only on 1 tier. And so all is well. Very nice staff. I will come again.

Ballet "Alem" with my music was shown in Mariinsky Theater. Awesome sound and acoustic, wonderful cozy atmosphere and light, many comfortable seats, convenient location in the city center. Beautiful historic building. It is deservedly one of the best concert halls in the world!

I know that I made a reservation wrong at the price of 23,000 won and I made the wrong reservation, and confirmed it, but the price was right. I wonder if only one performance per day is meaningful in Vladivostok, a remote city.

I wish I could go watch the Mariinsky Theatre performances every day. Such a wondrously beautiful theater with the most beautiful music and ballet.

Wheelchair users: You should also always call ahead to find out if there is wheelchair access to bars, clubs, museums, and restaurants. In most cases the answer, sadly, will be in the negative. Alternatively, assume it is inaccessible and hire a few people to lift you and your chair up the stairs, and then be sure to pay very generously for the assistance.

The place is a little far away, but Friday evening is meaningful.

Excellent opera house with magnificent acoustics a bit 'dry but fully balanced between the hole and stage. Good voices of the resident cast, orchestra really at ease in the Russian repertoire and, especially, in Prokof'ev, where the theater from when directed by Gergiev seems to be dedicated.
