Beautiful theatre, with fantastically intimate plays. Not a bad seat in the house!
It was a great place to stay when visiting Lisbon.the staff are so friendly, breakfeast was great and restaurent food excellant.
It is on the outskirts of Lusbon in a quiet area ,bus stop outside Hotel which takes you into the city in 15 min. There is a shopping mall about a 10min walk from Hotel ask at reception for directions.
The room was very nice slept like a baby, very quiet rooms well sound proofed would stay there again when visiting Lisbon. The only down side i had was getting a Taxi to Hotel from Airport was charged 30e when it should have been about 15/20e .When returning to Airport it was only 15 e the reception called one for us.
This is a great venue, well run.
The play - A Christmas Carol - was amazing, a beautiful performance, loads of emotion.
Classy atmosphere with some amazing productions. Only drawback is if you are unlucky and stuck behind taller individuals you will miss the lower half of the production
Went to see a Christmas Carol last night with my daughter and grandchildren. What a performance!! Brilliant from start to finish. Well done to all of the cast.
Small venue very old fashioned in historic building
Snapper a super show. Booked already to go again. Yahoo.
Another wonderful theatre experience. Always classy
Went to see The Snapper tonight. Great show and great cast. Very well done. Thank you for a great night.
Central location. When watching a play here nothing in the way of obstructions to ones view.
Such an amazing theatre. Watch the Snapper. Outstanding.
Fresh air lacking in the building and insufficient time at interval to get through queue at bar and finish drink - excellent show though.
Super play here with TRIBES. Challenging and terrific performances all round. Great traditional venue with elegance and a touch of true theatricality!
Lovely theatre in Dublin. Enjoyed seeing a play here. Found the design if the theatre very attractive and it was easy to see the whole stage The seats were fine. There s different priced tickets for different days and seats. Bathrooms were clean and nice (could be more). It s possible to buy wine but you csnt take it inside.
Excellent performance heard clearly all voices soft and loud and saw the raw emotion of all actors on stage. A most enjoyable seating setting, and comfortable chairs.
Staff very friendly. Great night out.
Beautiful little theater within walking distance of many of Dublin's popular tourist attractions that offers a great opportunity to mingle with locals and fellow travelers alike.
Great Little theatre- book your tickets in advance as it s reputation and the high standard of the productions means it sells out quickly-the theatre is at the top of O Connell Street- it s near buses and the Luas and there s parking near by so there are plenty of options for how you can get there. Famously Orson Welles blagged his way into acting and directing at this theatre before Citizen Kane! (Also watch out for the dashing Floor Manager - he is always impeccably turned out and lays down the rules regarding mobile phones with such an imperious charm that woe betide anyone who ignores him - he s a National Treasure)
Myself & my Mam & Dad & my 2 cousins & went to see The Snapper Show in Gate Theatre.
It was a fantastic & brilliant Show..Simon Delaney who played the part of the father he was brilliant..it was a really great show..we all enjoyed it & Gate Theatre was beautiful.
New set up for A Christmas Carol is surprising and very effective..
I forgot how lovely the Gate is. Professional staff & a great athmosphere
Always a great night here. The Great Gatsby promenade is a unique experience
Love the Gate. Intimate theatre, perfect place to see a play.
Very well organised. Enjoy the play. Very entertaining
Red shoes. Amazing masterpiece of Nancy Harris version and prominent actors! Must see!
I love The Gate Theatre, the intimacy of it & have seen many fantastic performances here over the years. Tonight I have come home, "buzzing" from the phenomenal "Hamlet". Glorious, energetic, evocative acting. Terrific set & costumes. Full marks to the entire team. Take a bow. Thank you for this :)
Very Good ! Went too see the Red Shoes . Excellent services ! Lovely bar ! Actors are good . Overall very good .
The Gate performances are always stunning, the theatre is a joy to visit, my only complaint is the lack of air con, I realise this is often a problem with old theatres but the heat is at times oppressive
The play The Snapper was fantastic, I laughed all the was through. Well done everyone involved
Productions are often great. But the queueing system is awful. No space to enjoy the atmosphere or a drink, just people pushing all around you.
Saw 'The Snapper' and it was brilliant! Wondrful acting, amazing staging and very funny!
It was my first time to the Gate, what a lovely intimate theater. We'll be back for sure.
Went to see Hamlet brilliant one of the vast plays ever
Will depend on the play but a lovely theatre to watch a play in.
This is my favorite theatre in Dublin. Never change the pre theatre announcement guy in the tux.
Great play however attitude of staff stinks, like really stinks. No smiles, welcomes etc. just rude superiority kind of attitude... pity!
The Gate is my favourite theatre in Dublin. Well worth a visit and the productions are usually first class
The Great GATSBY Show is a terrific event. I went with a group of Ladies to this show. All 19 of us dressed up in the 1920's style to fit into and catch the mood of the GATSBY'S. It was a fantastic experience, totally enjoyable. One little complaint, standing around is a bit hard on the feet, legs and back if you are a lady wearing high to low heels! But worth the pain for the experience.
Always an enjoyable evening at this reasonably intimate theatre. Choice of productions vary but always well put together and always well casted.
Went to an interactive great Gatsby show. Very good
Wonderful production of the Glass Menagerie, and a superb cast. Always loved this play, and always love going to the Gate. Never disappointed!
It was a brilliant night from start to finish the cast were excellent the sound was very good would go again
Fabulous place. Went to a Gatsby interactive show. It was just amazing.
The value for money at the Gate is exceptional. I love the venue. As I m a bit taller at 5 11 I try to get the aisle seats as it can be a bit cramped.
Fantastic venue, staff are so warm and friendly. Comfortable seats and theatre not huge so good views no matter where you sit. The bar area is lovely... Preorder your interval drink as it gets very busy. Nice coffee area with soft drinks water and wine if you don't want to go to bar area. Their productions are always excellent. Most recent visit was the superb A Christmas Carol really excellent production. They sell out fast so book as soon as the tickets go on sale if you don't want to be disappointed.
The best stage theatre experience to be had in Dublin.
Fabulous production of Hamlet. Ruth Negga's performance was breathtaking. My 16 year old studying Hamlet for LC was very impressed.
Went to see the play called "Tribe" last night. Very good story but very, very disappointed view. Very badly designed for ISL interpreter at the stage where we cannot see the play drama very well cos the interpreter is far away on the right edge of the stage. Poor light on ISL interpreter. No awareness for the deaf view. Interpreter should have been on the left side near Drama.
Joe Sullivan
Nice Old Theatre perfect for a play or any live theatre
