Make Westing is one of those special bars that absolutely crushes the food scene and doesn t brag about it. Go early, grab a seat at the bar, and dive into some of their sandwiches and small bites. This is the perfect spot before a show at The Fox, or a beer after a long week. Pro tip: this place gets PACKED on Friday nights after ~9:00 so you need to be ready for that.

Fun bar with two bocce ball courts to mess around on. Perfect location in Oakland right by the Fox theatre and close to the Bart station. Drinks and beer choices are pretty good. Can get a little crowded and lines to get a drink can get long.

Good place to start off the night (or end it). Nice atmosphere. Drinks are decently priced. Bocce ball towards the back of the place is fun. Can get packed at certain times especially if there's a show across the street at the theater.

I go here post hockey game's. There's plenty of room in this joint. Good beer and sandwiches. They also have a shuffleboard area if you're into that.

I dont believe the food there. Cocktails are are ok, on the menu, off menu cocktails are bad. The food is incredible. As a foodie this is what you're looking for. The bone marrow is amazing! Dont miss it!

Black bouncer with dreads has emotional issues that he arbitrarily takes out on customers. Not getting my service again after getting kicked out for no reason, him spilling my drink and then pushing me when I got outside. If I could explain to you why I got kicked out, I wouldnt write this review, even if he was physical with me (as he was). Maybe some therapy and a good dose of self esteem would help the lad.

This is a hip and chill Oakland spot. They have a good selection of liquors, cheap beers and food until 9. Two bonus perks are the popcorn and bocce ball court. On weekends it can be hard to get a spot on the bocce court, so come early. It's a great spot to hang with friends or can be a great place for a date (depending on the night and time)!

Its a great singles bar and it has a friendly atmosphere but its convenenit because its location is a prime spot because it is right by the bar. This is really great since its right next to the bart you have a safe way home after a couple of drinks. On Fridays it is always crowded and has a great crowd.

Loved that this place had an indoor bocce court. Great spot to grab a cocktail or beer before heading in to the Fox for a show. Also really friendly bartenders who give you a heavy pour.

Awesome Corner Bar great atmosphere bartenders make awesome drinks, they're not just pouring rotgut into a glass. Good bar food menu, you have to try their popcorn it's spicy but well worth it. They have a bocce ball court in the back inside which I have never seen before. The place can get loud especially on game days but I think it just adds to the atmosphere of a fun evening. Maybe not the place for a get-to-know-you date but great for drinks after work with coworkers. Or late night before or after a show at the Fox theater across the street.

Even though it's a big place inside, it fills up fast on weekends and/or any day with a show at the Fox next door. Lots of drink options (bunch of local/regional beers on tap), and the small food menu is really good (and came quickly). The bocce ball courts (two of them) are a nice touch.

Dope spot. But don't drive there, unless you want your car broken into. I am. 3 for 3 there. Bad luck I guess. Nonetheless awesome place to kick it.

On weekdays it's a lot more manageable. Weekends.. good luck.

Drinks are always great and creative. It does get CRAZY busy for happy hour and first Friday as to be expected.

I had a half in long cockroach walk across my table. Thier kitchen looks like a horror show(I've worked in the industry 7 years). Never coming back.

Only been here once. Great location, easy to get to. Drinks were fine. Nothing jumped out. Bathrooms were pretty dirty. Toilets clogged. They have some games that people seemed to enjoy. Big space, good for groups.

Bacci ball is a great idea for a bar. Easy to do while drinking. Beware though, the ground isn't quite flat

I don t get the appeal of this place. The cocktails are average at best. The service is unimpressive. The food menu is weak. Also, the name is dumb. Make Westing? WTF does that mean?

Wonderful addition to the Oakland area when it's just a hop and a skip next door to the Fox Theater. Make Westing is Cha-Ching...Moneyball status in my book! I say this after seeing One Republic in concert and Moneyball in hopes to see dreamy Brad Pitt. Of course, I failed at the attempt to stalk him. I came across this bar after a few friends wanted to grab a couple of drinks before the concert. The nightlife scene around the area is slowly picking up...I can tell. People watching in Oakland was enjoyable after a cocktail here and there. The place is outstanding with star-studded service! I loved our bartender who was super sweet! She worked on our cocktails without being rushed just to make it that extra special before serving it to us. I ordered their Carolac and Snozzberry which were both to die for! My buzzed self couldn't help notice that the berries and spritzy ginger along with the vodka balanced out very well. Carolac was exceptional with that sugary taste at the end of my last drop. I'll have to come back again and try the other drinks on their menu. Happy hour?? Yes you heard that right!! It's exponentially that great! The interior design is out of this world. Different taste from the inside as opposed to the outside from the looks of it. The dark trimmed bar area and low lighting made it feel intimate yet strikingly inviting. Bocce ball? Yes! They have it here inside a bar!! Something quite different if you ask me. Would it be worth to check out? Yes!! I'm a fan!

This place is a bit of a watering hole. People usually come here to get drinks and meet people. It can get really crowded because people usually come here to get drinks before they go to a show at the fox theater. For some reason there are also a lot of company parties here from downtown Oakland. They usually take over the bocce ball lanes and the back area.

This is nice big bar in the downtown area. Nice beers and surprisingly good food! Much cooler than the weird shininess going on down in JLS. Handlebar tash and jorts seem to be the staff attire.

Chicken sandwich was awesome, ox tail sandwich was decent. They have shuffleboard and the spot tends to get pretty busy at happy hour time.

This is a fun place to go for drinks with friends. The bocce ball court is a fun activity to play while there. However, the wait for it can get long so it's best to come early. It is a total hipster bar.

Good cocktails, but appearance of a dive bar. The bartender was amazing at his job. This place is really a 3.5 star bar, but i dont have that option so i rounded up to be nice.

Fun bar with games and lots of space. It's also right next to a great oakland venue so it's good for pre/post concert drinks. They serve popcorn too, and it was delicious. it was some sort of cilantro spicey flavor. I ate a lot of it.

Cool big bar. bocce ball. I had an oxtail sandwich and it was amazing!
