Terrible staff. The security at the entrance got my ID because I had to get money at the ATM to pay the cover. When I returned to guet my ID back it was gone. How can they lose the customers' ID? It's so basic, terrible service ever. Why would they keep our IDs for?

Somewhat okay, but this is a docking berth for the douche ship that washing up on Polk during the weekends. If you like normal people, you won't like this.

The place is overcrowded on weekends, too hot on the dancefloor. The music is average. Probably the nice place to end up the night in the neighborhood.

Got a dozen oysters that were awesome, the avocado burger, the Cobb salad, guacamole chips couple drinks, feel very good!

For a no frills dance club this place has it going on. Mayes draws a diverse crowd of every race, age, and type and they all love to dance. Music videos of the latest pop hits line the walls while pros get down on the floor. Get there from 9-10 cover is free.

I didn't even realize they served food(duh). Either way, every visit has been fun. And I bring tourists here, it's a cool place:-)

Beware: there is organized crime at this establishment. Myself and countless other people have had a phone or wallet stolen at this place. The issue is so rampant and so well organized that there is no way the management is not part of the scheme. I honestly don't know how the police haven't done anything about this place given that they have been operating this way for several years. In my own experience a while ago, I felt someone pull my phone out of my pocket, and when I immediately turned and saw a man behind me put it in his own pocket, he argued with me and led us over to the bouncer to have him "pat him down" to check for the phone even though I SAW HIM PUT MY PHONE IN HIS POCKET. The bouncer not only lied to my face that the thief's pocket was empty, he had the gall to tell me I should APOLOGIZE to the man who just stole from me and threatened to throw me out. If there is any justice in the world, this place will go under because of COVID and the owner will go bankrupt.

Bartenders wrote their own tips on my check and charged me twice for a drink order. This is unacceptable and will be reporting this to the police immediately.

Not really worth going for the oysters. Not really an oyster house anymore. I suppose if you're a local you already know this.

At night: $10 cover, expensive drinks, music is all hip hop later on, lot of weird people inside staring awkwardly at girls, not a great vibe.

The oysters and the fries weren't bad, but if you're looking for a restaurant experience, skip it. They have a limited menu which includes burgers - it's more like bar food with fresh oysters of the day. There's no one to check in with if you have reservations. Hunt down someone who looks like they might be staff, and they will tell you to sit anywhere . . .

Awesome spot to get some food when in a hurry. Their customer service is fast, pricing is fair, great character. Will come back again

YOUR PHONE WILL GET STOLEN HERE. Go here if you want to dance until the crushing disappointment of realizing your phone is gone. NOT WORTH IT. They need to be way better about figuring out how to stop the theft here, people should stop coming until they get it together.

STOLEN PHONES! READ REVIEWS! STAY AWAY. If you read all the reviews, you will notice this happens ALL the time here. Went with my friends on a saturday night, 3 of us got our PHONES STOLEN FROM PURSE. A staff employee told us "oh 4 other girls just came to tell us they got their phones stolen too". Told the owner of the bar right after and he didn't seem to care and didn't try helping. All he did was say "I told security" and walked away. Reading from the reviews and how often phones are stolen here, I find it really suspicious that this happens so often and the owner/employees aren't doing anything to stop this. Please do not go and support this place until this stops! ONLY GO HERE IF YOU WANT YOUR STUFF STOLEN. Never coming here again.

Love this place! My favorite spot in San Francisco to get some dancing with my friends on the weekends or to just chill at the bar. One of the best happy hour in San Francisco from 5-7pm weekdays/ 3-7pm weekends. Food is awesome too, Oysters are their specialty.Staff is superfriendly and fun. Also great venue to host events - tons of beautifully designed, versatile space.

This is a review of the club. Pretty good crowded club on a Friday night. They have TVs playing the music videos. They play some older songs that everyone knows. $10 cover. Staff didn't seem that professional at closing time.

Bouncers are extremely rude and do not know a real ID from a fake, I was denied entrance because my REAL ID was not from this state. I m very disappointed in this establishment after 2 years of coming here quite frequently, I can honestly say I will never go back.

IPHONE THEFT IS NOTORIOUS HERE I went to Mayes last night (5/4) and my iPhone was stolen out of my purse. I just wish I had read the reviews on this place prior to going because I would have read the plethora of reviews noting STOLEN iPHONES OUT OF PURSES. Security brushed it off. Its dark, loud, and we were crammed in like sardines. The most interesting part about it is this has been going on for years (one review even stated that 14 girls reported missing iPhones) and management is doing nothing about it. Why? Because they're most likely in on it and sending people into the crowd to steal phones. DO NOT GO HERE. If you do, be very cautious and deal with the risk. Find any other bar with music and keep your precious belongings to yourself. I'm sick to my stomach knowing that I lost something so valuable to me with so many memories. I don't want this to happen to anyone else!!!!

Best bartenders in the City. Great drinks, good music, good crowd. Also appreciate the water carafe at the bar.

This is the best place Tuesday thru Saturday night to dance, stop in for cocktails and have a great time. Features the best DJ's bartenders and security in the bay area. Sara, Stephonia and Of course Matthew really deliver an exceptional time.

Love this place. But after being charge for a tip on my card that I DID NOT APPROVE OF, after I had already had gave the bartender a Tip in CASH is unacceptable and illegal. Their employees should not write their own tip on receipts that clients had already signed and put the amount that it should be.

This place is fun if you are looking for a rowdy night or love the club scene of Polk st. However, it is very crowded, hot and loud. If you do not like clubs, this is not the place for you. The wait for drinks is extensive, the line is always long to get in and there is almost always a cover. Can be a fun night out but is not for everyone.

Hate this place so much!!! I visited the first time almost a year ago, then on May of this year I took some friends here because I thought it was a great place, and what happened? Got my iPhone stolen (details are not important after reading other people's comments having the same issue in this place) I got over it, got another phone and this Saturday (oct 13th) decided to go back with some friends, with the voice in my head saying; be careful, hold your phone... (my mistake was not reading reviews after my first phone got stolen or even before visiting this awful place) at the end of the night when I was about to leave I put my phone in my purse, when I was going to grab it again... GONE!!! It gets worse... two of my other friends went through the same that night, one got robbed another iPhone, and the other one a wallet with all her documents and cards in there. DON'T RISK IT PEOPLE! Staff is useless and they only say: "Oh, nothing we can do about it, we had a lot of stolen phones tonight" What the heck!? That makes think with a lot of confidence that they are the thieves, maybe not... who knows? But they should do something about this problem. It wasn't only me, but a loooooooooooot of people! :( still so annoyed!

It was a great time but it was Super Bowl weekend and we all know how it all turned out.

Came here for a friend's birthday party the day before Halloween this year. It was incredibly packed. We had ordered table service and were hoping to get some space, but the table service really just included the drinks and the table. There was no control over space or who was occupying tables (someone was sitting at our table when we got there). The crowd was obviously crazy, but overall a fun night. The music was a mix of old 90s to current pop and hip hop, lots of identifiable songs and not so much EDM or house music.

NOTORIOUS FOR THEFT!!! Ladies, please do not leave your phones in your purse, as ridiculous as that may sound. My phone, my best friends phone, and 14 other women who reported it got pickpocketed on Saturday night at Mayes. I heard from other friends who have visited Mayes in the past year that this happened to them too. Obviously management is doing nothing about this issue, and clearly they don't care to let their name be dragged in the dirt by shady thieves. So please, DO NOT GO HERE, or at least hold on to your purse, 24/7 if you do. I was wearing a small satchel that was on my shoulder the entire night, and the thieves unzipped my purse, reached in, and stole it without me noticing. I've never felt so violated in my life. DISGUSTING PEOPLE...

The place is nice, if you do not want to be charged before 11 pm, they do not have a # price menu, the sound is fine but the #dj is abrupt when putting the songs, the songs are mixed with the #videos.

The security literally threw me from my chair at the bar to leave. I was a bartender for 7 years and never experienced this amount of rude treatment. Security is rude but the waitstaff can be great.

Not much was happening that night and it was quiet. I ordered a taco salad with chicken and my friend ordered some fish tacos. They have decent, good bar food and a Happy Hour drink menu.

This is not just a great place to grab oysters, it's also a bumpin' nightclub! Their DJ's play some of the most original tracks in the area. It gets crowded, so go when they get started.

Has anyone ever come here for the actual food? I'm not sure, but if you're looking to dance, then this is a pretty good spot. The music is pretty good and there's a fairly big dance floor. The drinks are ho hum, so don't expect the world's best old fashioned here. Word of the wise, watch out around midnight because that's usually when the Marina creeps down and invades this fun spot.

Mayes is a good spot to come if you want to dance on Polk Street. The music is current and the DJ mixes it really well. Party music. The dance floor does get crowded, and it can get really hot inside. You will have fun here if you are drunk. So get drunk!

My friend had his birthday party here tonight and 3 of our friends had their wallets and phones stolen from there purses that were zippered closed and on their person. We were I outside talking to the cops and 8 other people also had their belonging stolen tonight and they said it happens all the time at Mayes. Don t go here. Professional thieves target this place. I ve been out all over SF and never had this happen to me or my friends in the four years I ve lived here.

Nice place for everyone to gather when they convert it into a night club. However their relatively high cover for nothing much in terms of entertainment as well as high theft rates (4 of my friends have had their phones stolen here on different occasions) make this place less than desirable.

Supposed to be Top 40/HipHop but overwhelmingly HipHop and mostly old skool.

I went here over the weekend at night when it turns into a club. It was bangin'! The bouncers were not bad and the drinks I had were not watered down. Bar service was quick and friendly too considering there is only 1 bar. The DJ was spinning hip hop and everyone was dancing.

Criminals, literally had their bouncers jump me and break my jaw and give me a concussion because I dared ask for my glasses back, which they stole. Notorious phone thieves that for some reason are allowed to keep operating. The management told the suspects to come in and hide after they attacked me.
