Their curbside pick up is nowhere near first come, first served. I got here more than half an hour ago and cars that barely arrived re getting their stuff right away.
And just observed someone from the staff take a cigarette break and toss the cigarette butt right on the sidewalk. Come on...
Beautiful architecture from long ago clashes with today's rudeness downtown Chicago. That explains what you'll see, every store associate was very rude, it's amazing that they sell anything in this store.
Loved the ambience inside. Friendly staff, great options to shop, and a rich history. Also, enjoyed the flower show which was integrated right in and around the stores.
Five stars .... just because it's the biggest Macy's I have ever step foot in (more like dragged in)... my golly! This more like a Mueseum than anything.
I love macys. You can always find very good spacials here on name brand items. I encourage people to get a Macy's card, because you get a lot of perks and promos!
For all the hype, Macy's isn't a store I'd frequent. The staff is standoffish and dismissive. I had to walk around for what felt like forever to find someone to take my money. I shouldn't have to beg you to make a sale. It wasn't a very customer friendly store. I miss Marshall Field.
Horrible elevators. The 1st Floor elevator of Macy s almost killed me.The day when I entered the elevator, the door couldn t be closed , it opened and closed and opened repeatedly, the doors were completely out of control. When I was giving up riding and wanted to go out , the So HEAVY , THICK and IRON doors dashed against me, and it didn t stop. This elevator is NOT automatic at all . My arm went unconscious at once. I will cancel my Macy s member and NEVER go again.
We visit the holiday window display outside as a yearly tradition within our family, followed by lunch in the Walnut Room. Brandy Alexander's, Chicken Pot Pie and magical wishes granted by the sugar plum fairies make this yearly trip truly magical.
Too many levels, scattered and over priced. Also, found bloody napkins right outside the door bear online deliveries. Disgusting. Only thing I like is the 7th floor restaurants.
Annual Secret Garden Show at Macy's State Street A few years ago, I discovered that 3 Macy's Flagship Stores host an Annual Themed Garden Show in their San Fran, NY & Chicago locations. In prior years the Garden Show has been located on the 7th floor at their State Street location. I haven't attended the show for a few years and decided to make it a date with the hubby to visit the Flower Show. It's completely complimentary ;) Macy's has made a few changes since I attended, it is no longer on the 7th floor but, the Flowers are intertwined amid their 1st floor sales counters. Not sure I like the new location: On the 7th floor, the flowers were at eye level and one could take selfies and the displays were more intricate. There were one or two displays located on the "floor" this year but, most were located several feet above the sales counters, making it hard to appreciate the displays. However, there were more flower displays on each floor incorporating that department into the display: Women's, men's, children's, etc. Making your ride up or down the escalator artfully interesting. The inter active activities were increased. On the day we visited, they were giving out a complimentary succulent with a Macy's purchase, additional complimentary activities included: build your own terrarium, pour a candle, cooking demo, candy, hair braided with glitter dust. Each year's theme is different. 2019's theme was Journey to Paradisios, a cosmic space adventure. Super Cool! Macy's does not really advertise the Flower Show, you kinda have to keep an eye out for it. It only lasts for 2 weeks and then it's gone. It's usually the last week of March and 1st week of April, again completely complimentary. Book your SpotHero space, or use Macy's CASH only valet service located on Wabash Street for $15. Have Lunch on the 7th floor which offers a Food Court filled with several dining options. They now offer Macy's lunch for $7! YEP, enjoy a warm Turkey, brie & cranberry sandwich on cinnamon raisin bread with chips for only $7! YUM
In the city for my wife's birthday. Walked down to look at store after Macys took over (it had been a long time since going downtown).Store was clean and well stocked. Checked out some of the specialty food places in the basement. Pleased to find a Nuts-on-Clark there
This store has ZERO customer service available. I know brick and mortar stores are having trouble in today's online-based consumer market, but Macy's lack of customer service representation (both in-person and over-the-phone) is appalling. If this is the way of the physical store, then there is little hope for its future.
Great place to shop and eat in Chicago. "Meet under the clock!" It is convenient to many modes of transportation, including Metra, the South Shore Line and the CTA. It is especially pretty during the Christmas season. Go to the Walnut Room and see the windows displays.
Really want to tell you about my fabulous experience with Macy s mattress department yesterday. I called up Macy s mattress department to see if a mattress I had seen online was attainable. The salesman, Hillory, answered the phone. Now this is what I remember customer service use to be. Hillory was incredibly knowledgeable about Macy s stock of mattresses, so I breathed a sigh of relief after having a difficult experience with Crate & Barrel. Hillory was really nice and so easy to talk with as well. He was so patient and ended up getting me just the mattress I wanted, and negotiated a deal with me as well. Wow. My mattress will be delivered next week and I m on Cloud 9, and I haven t even received the mattress yet! Go go go (or call) Macy s State Street & ask Hillory to help you find a great mattress at a great price!! I will be back, Hillory, after I recommend you to all of my family and friends!!
Love State Street Macy s on CyberMonday for visiting Santa with no lines and instant seating by the tree at The Walnut Room but the service was horrible at Walnut Room one hour to get food despite one of the only diners there! Food was mediocre. A Great Santa experience and terrific store still made it worthwhile.
I had to come back in, when I realizing they didn't even offer me my coupon for spending over a certain amount. Then asked to see a recipe after returning after a few minutes to the same cashier. She stood there looking over it for additional two to three minutes.
