ONLY thing to say about the Bridal Registry department is its phenomenal staff and Manager make it a real gem!!! Knowledge, protocol savy, personable beyond call, made the whole experience a joy and rewarding. The invitation to a Sip & Scan proved especially helpful in young couples meeting and discussing momentous decisions and off shoot plans to the actual wedding. Truly an ingenious event and warm reception accompanied with wine and networking. Bravo! Well done! A bride and groom gathering of bonds and dreams!

I only shop at this Macy s because of convenience. The store s help is typically (with a few exceptions) rude with little care for a customer s experience. The cleanliness is questionable especially in the basement and the food court. And the presentation of the merchandise is like shopping in Filene s Basement without the discount. In major need of an update.

There were maybe 5 employees available! Some called in sick. 1 was on their break and the outher was in a different section being overworked by customers!

Lovely building and awesome setup but they need to employ more staff!

Ugh. Not a big fan of this place and would never want to set foot in it except for seeing the "real Santa" around Christmas time. The Christmas Window displays outside are really cool though! The big Christmas tree in the Walnut Room is always a hit for my family, too. And the cafeteria in the lower level is pretty decent, if overpriced. It is a pretty cool and historic building, but much of that history is lost because Macy's gobbled up the historic Marshall Fields.

Obviously impressively massive store, but despite the detailed and extravagant facade on the street level, the stores themselves seem to be suffering. Not impressed with the cleanliness and feel as though it s a department store which no longer cares about it s perpetuity. Decorations are off the charts for Christmas as if this is the only time of year where the store might be able to keep its head high enough above water to push it through the next year.

Downtown Chicago. Old Macy's building in exallant repair. There is a restaurant on the 7th floor and fragrences on the first with anything you may care for in between.

The only drag is that the pan handlers are in full force outside the Holiday Windows. Washed cut hair, fresh clothes and not a spec of dirt. Their homemade signs are unique and during the Holiday"s they are themed. Their was one sitting with a dog to maximize effect. None of them are homeless which is obvious. But, they persist none the less.

And the 5 gallon bucket drummers are a plus. They try their hardest but, they lack a sound and up close it is just a roar of plastic being beat on relentlessly.

Why is my review centered around the people outside ? Chicago has a lot to offer a visitor but, seriously they City and Macy's should run this sordid lot off the sidewalks and let the visitors enjoy the architecture and splendor of a great landmark.

This place always makes me smile!! Still not over crowded like Macy s New York, yuck!! Still has the Marshall Field upscale vibe. Prices are reasonable if u willing to shop! If not grab a fit and go!!

We ate @ Walnut Room. We notified the manager that the lobster bisque was burnt. He tasted it. He never got back to us and the burnt bisque was never replaced. The kettle of soup was never taken and replaced. We did notice another person returning the soup. This took the usually extremely good New Year's celebration to a new low. The servers were excellent but the manager's reaction is intolerable. Is this Macy's new policy? It's sad because Marshall Field's would have addressed this immediately.

I was looking for good office shoes, as my last pair had finally broken that day when I was downtown. Randi in the ladies shoe department was very helpful and attentive even though it took me a couple hours to come to my final decision. Saved me from having to limp home in broken shoes and she provided great customer service.

What's not to like, especially at the holidays, good sales and customer service, huge selection of everything, and so much to see. I will always drive out of my way to go to Macy's for Christmas.

I was there after 6:00 pm. It was a ghost town. I went to the luggage area and waited 20 minutes to not get waited on. Several employees, busy with their own shopping, assured me someone was coming to help me. I was planning to spend $100+ on a fancy carry-on bag. Instead I went to Target and got a shopping bag for less than $3.00.

Meh.
