Great shopping experience. Sales associates will go the extra mile to make sure you have what you want and it fits. On top of that it is a great historical building well appointed and redecorated often.

I went into the "department store" looking for the electronics department. Followed the store directory but couldn't find it. Asked a staff member who directed me to a different floor. Still couldn't find it so asked again and was once again redirected! This time I found the 'department' which was just 2 shelves.
Most displeased and disappointed.

A lot of Chicagoans are mad at this place because it used to be the beloved Marshall Field's flagship store, a Chicago institution. Well that's just silly. The Field family sold it decades ago, so it's not like they were just kicked out. And objectively, this is still one of the greatest department stores in the city; very little has changed since the Marshall Field days. I especially love the food court in the lower level.

I go there to use the rest room in the basement. I refuse to shop there. They gutted a Chicago institution. I still think of that bldg as Marshall Field's. Just as any true Chicagoan has no use for the name "Willis Tower."

Fancy macys that goes all out for Christmas. There are floors upon floors than are decorated for Christmas and there seems to be some sort of lunch and restuarant portion where hot can eat in a Christmas setting. Didnt stick around long enough to find out. Just stopped in to water some time. The entire store was decorated amazingly. Seemed like an old store and building. The architecture was amazing. But that seems to be the norm in Chicago.

They don't seem to be maintaining this nearly as well as when it was Marshall Fields. It lacks the the charm of the old Fields. In addition, Macy's recently seriously cut back on the staff and it now makes it difficult to find a sales associate to either checkout or complete a return.

the Christmas decorations at Macy's we're not like they used to be. They're very limited in their decorations. The floors tiles on the main floor are all cracked and it seems like Macy's doesn't care about the appearance out there department store. Went to a bank of elevators and only one was running when there was four or five elevators available. Went to the restroom on the 7th floor by the Christmas ornaments and the sinks looks like they haven't been cleaned for quite a while with all the crime that was on it. Very disappointed and Macy's.

Great products, but not a single employee asked if we needed help and then they closed the store and refused to let us check out. Had nowhere for us to hold the products. We were told the managers leave before the store closes. Tried to spend a few hundred dollars.

I look forward twice a year to visit my hometown, Chicago. I enjoy riding the escalator up to the Walnut Room . My favorite dinner is the delicious homemade meatloaf with red pepper gravy on mashed potatoes. Yummy.

This was Marshall Fields and it always will be to me. Macy's has thankfully kept a lot of that heritage alive while still updating and bringing some traditions into the 21st century. The customer service here could and should be greatly improved.

Every single year since I was 9 months old my mom has brought me here around Christmastime and we stood in long lines to have lunch under the tree at the Walnut room and look at the Christmas windows and even a few years after it was no longer Marshall Fields, it was still pretty magical. It used to be so crowded every single day with people who traveled into the city to visit this mecca of Chicago Christmas. We still do our Chicago Christmas trip but we only stop into Macy's to grab a box of Frangos on our way to the red line.

Oh how Macy's has fallen. When this store was Marshall Fields, they had Wonderful Windows displays, especially during the Christmas shopping season. Now they are just pointing out what they sell, without telling a story. We are not as inclined to come in and find some of the story themed items that used to be on display, during the MF days.

The story themed window displays used to be the highlight to coming downtown.

I tried to go try on a specific Watters dress, but got stuck in terrible Chicago rush hour traffic. I kept in touch with the salon to let them know the situation and ask if it was still possible to keep the appointment. Everyone was very nice about it until the manager got on the phone. He explained that I wouldn't be able to come anymore due to the late hour. That was fine and I apologized to him for being late due to matters out of my control. I thought that was where it would end, but he proceeded to tell me that I had really inconvenienced them and that the downtown Macy's store is a busy, high-end place that does not have that time for just one person. I have lived in Chicago most of my life and am very familiar with downtown shopping. I understand completely that they could not see me late, but to demean me and add further guilt was highly unprofessional. I know the store well enough to know that when it was a Marshall Fields, both the service and the quality of the products was far superior. I am questioning buying a dress there and probably won't register there either. Too bad, too. That store is a classic Chicago landmark that I've enjoyed for a long time.

This 7 story Macy's has just about anything you'd want and their clearance sections was the biggest I've seen. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because of the lack of customer service

Was pressed for time and worried about getting luggage for my trip the next day. The saleswoman, which I cannot remember her name unfortunately, in the department was extremely helpful & really helped me cancel my online order and get the luggage in the department.
