THe Macy's in State Street is beautiful! It is not only good for shopping it is also a great place to look around. It does get crouded as do many other shops in the area. This Macy's has great service though!

This Macy's was absolutely amazing!!! And at Christmas with the horns out front and all the cute window displays, nothing beats it!!! Inside was very clean organized and full of employees who actually wanted to help and were very friendly!!

A long way downhill from when it was THE Chicago institution known as Marshall Field's. He practically built this city and now we have this travesty of a store in its' place.
Besides that, dirty and poorly staffed. They never brought the Frango candy making operation back to the store as they had promised they would when they took over and changed the brand. The long time Christmas window designer head was fired and the Christmas window displays have gone downhill.
They have also removed the top two retail floors of the store and replaced them with rented out office space. A spokesperson claimed in the Tribune this would make the store more "vibrant". How does shrinking the size of the world's second largest store make it more vibrant???
Any raves from reviewers about the architecture and design of the store should note that those were the work and result of the Marshall Field's Company, NOT Macy's, who simply slapped their name over the door.

Macy's on State Street is, AKA Marshall Fields through Chicagoans eyes. It will always be Marshall Fields and not Macy's. But it is a beautiful Landmark department store, that was built in the 1800's way before Macy's in New York. whenever you come to Chicago, where do people always want to go too if Marshfield's on State Street. Today I went up to the walnut room, saw the area where Franco mints is at. Which when Macy's took over the department store, they got rid of Franco mints. And when Chicagoans complain! They brought the candy back. One thing you never ever do, is get rid of a tradition. They used to make the Franco @the Marshall Field's department store, can you believe they are made somewhere else and ship to Macy's in Chicago.

Would have given zero star if I could. Have been to the mall couple of times, very slow service or no service at all. It's usually 15 to 30min wait at the cashier even if there's only one customer in front of me and the mall is empty.

Such a maze of a store. Even the employees didn't know where to send me. What's worse, they couldn't find the dress they had in-stock in my size, which was the reason I went. Lots of excuses, but zero help.

By far the best Macy's in the state of Illinois. I'm being very serious when I say this because they carry everything while most of the other Macy's only carry certain products. They have 7 floors at this one, and I have still have not seen every floor at this particular store. They have a restaurant on the top floor, and this place still has the Marshall Fields look and decor because this particular building is a landmark, so nothing can be done to the building except for minor renovations.

I love macy's. The service is always excellent no matter which store I go to. And the wide variety of selection in the store is amazing. It always has what I am looking for and I know that when i get something from here that it will be great quality.

THIEVES! I made an online purchase and when I went to track my order it stated that it had already been picked up. Someone at the store is clearly stealing packages! I ve been trying to get a hold of Matt, who is the manager of the State St. Macy s store and he never answers his extension. This has been a horrific experience! It s been weeks and still unresolved!

I wanted to schedule a time to come in to the Bridal Boutique and try on dresses for my wedding, and dresses for my mom. Unfortunately, the site isn't working correctly, so can't schedule on line. I've called the store 4 times, nobody answers any extension I've tried (currently on hold for over 7 minutes) except at a make-up counter who is currently trying to find me a store manager. No way to leave a voicemail, no way to schedule an appointment. Called the main line, was not given any help, and when I said I'd buy my wedding dress and mom's elsewhere, she said "Yeah, OK". I'm glad I had this experience BEFORE I trusted them with helping selct dresses for a wedding - God knows what a nightmare that would've been. (Incidentally, I've been transferred to ANOTHER extension that just rings & rings & rings, finally hung up) So, I will take my business elsewhere and nobody responds to these reviews anyway.

Will not go back anytime soon. I went into Macy's to purchase a pair of shoes I seen online but first wanted to try on. There was a sales lady literally maybe 50ft away from me helping another lady try on shoes. Once she was done she continued to talk to the lady gossiping and would occasionally glance over at me but never asked if she could help me or was I being helped. I was standing at the register for 10 minutes waiting for someone to come to the desk so I could receive some help. Finally another salesman showed up and I asked him could he help me. I told him the shoe I wanted and the size. He told me he wasn't sure if the size was available. I asked him could he check in all 3 colors. He never acknowledged me after that. I did see him bring 2 other guests there shoes he walked back pass me and never said another word. I waited for another 10 minutes and still got no help. Oh and wait the kicker is the first sales lady was still gossiping with the lady she helped try on shoes who didn't even want the shoes and they were sitting there talking. A waste of time. No greeting once I entered the door, the lady just looked at me and stood there no smile or anything

The Christmas Windows are cool, but not the attraction they used to be. I'm not sure why you would pay $20 for parking to shop here for an hour when there are much better options available a short drive away.
