There is just something about Macys on State St. I am not normally a huge fan of Macy's, but the State st location is so great! I love all the pop up shops and different brands they have. Just being in the iconic Marshall Fields building is magical. Yes ypu have to wait forever for an elevator and yes its sp crowded. But it is worth it. And tge best time to go is around Christmas. The Great Tree in the Walnut Room and the store windows outside are trually magical. It is a must go every year and my kids absolutely live it. I love getting them dressed up and taking them to write a letter to Santa and see the Fairies at the Walnut Room.

The store looks better not as junky on the sales floor but dressing rooms and washrooms need updating. Store is always too warm. They need more staff on the sales floor, but I found what I was looking .

The store is great our problem is with Santa Clause. We took our one and three-year-old grandchildren there to see him and all he seemed to care about were photos Via their photographer. Our little three-year-old was asking Santa for a train at Christmas and all Santa kept saying was pose for the picture he was absolutely horrible such a disappointment. Santa should care more about the children than getting pictures taken. He must be getting a cut or something. Horrible.

I was here with coworker to see the flower show. He tried to buy an umbrella on the first floor mens section. They allowed him to wait in line but the cashiers said they wouldn't ring up his purchase because they didn't help him pick the item. We had to walk over the the mens underwear section while the two cashiers continued ringing out other random customers.

The manager of the watch department in downtown Chicago was very unconserning and offered little to no assistance of a watch that I purchased at Macy's which led me to seek another Macy's store. I shop a lot at Macy's and this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth

Macy's at Chicago downtown it's a must go. The only issue are all the homeless who go there like if it was a shelter on top of that they are always eating stuff from the store without even paying for it it's not fair. Somebody needs to do something about it. The place is not a shelter for homeless.

This has to be the best Macy's outlet I have ever seen in my life and it makes me feelso happy that this is in Chicago. This is housed inside a 9 storied building and yes, Macy's here is housed in all the 9 stories. There are floors and corners for clothes, apparel, bed n bath, restaurants, cosmetics, trendy n designer clothing, godiva chocolates, accessories to name a few. The collection is awesome and the summer discounts are the coolest. It was difficult for me to resist the temptation to pick the best goodies be it perfumes, bags, jeans, watches, chocolates, tops n tanks and formals. This Macy's rocks !!!

The store is huge (10 floors I believe) and the only problem is that there are only two floors with bathrooms on them so you have to stop what you're doing and go find which floor it is if you need to go.

Macy's is new to the Chicago market. I finally them a visit to get a makeup makeover. I really enjoyed the experience. The makeup associate really took her time with me. I received lots of compliments on my new image.

The Macy's in downtown Chicago is one of my favorite places. I would come here as a kid to eat in the Walnut Room before the Christmas tree lighting down the street. They have many floors of items, a food court, bag check, and easy access to the El train system in the basement. It's also in a great location and has several accessable bathrooms.

We have a business that provided entertainers for the Macy's State street flower show and it was a first class event. The store personnel were great. There was so much to see and do in addition to the great shopping. Thanks Macy's!

Wow, the absolute best in the city. Literally, I felt like I was in a spoiled rapper kids walking closet. So many styles for Male or female. Jewelry, bags, luggage, housewares, furniture, and even a vending machine that you can buy beats headphones. Stop reading and just go and feel the magic for yourself. Fyi the store front windows are always decorated in accordance to the current season.

Always a favorite spot, even just to visit. Give selection and surprisingly reasonable prices -- look for sales and you won't need to break the bank for some nice clothes or accessories.

Macy's is not the same as it used to be, in this particular location some construction is going on, the floors are chipping away in some areas and it seems like wasted space, granted the building is over 100+ years old by it being the former Marshall Fields Bldg. and a national landmark. The Walnut Room is still on the 7th floor and that alone makes a trek here worth it.

This is a great Macy's and a wonderful location downtown on State Street accessible to all transportation to other points in the city... on the lower level after 5p it's 50% off at all the food locations and maybe even the salad bar... the sandwiches are great and there's always a good crowd waiting for that 50% off

When you tire of shopping online, this is the place to go. Enormous selection, great service, and often have good sales. This is my go-to store when I want real customer service you'll never find online.

The days of Marshall Field's are well over. Macy's revival of the hidden architectural gems will keep you coming back for more. Burnham fountain, Tiffany dome, Great clocks, Walnut room and fascinating stained glass and carved century old millwork.

My daughter and I ate at The Walnut Room December 12, 2019 and shopped afterwards. The buffet was delicious!!! It had everything that was on the entree menu. It had a beautiful Christmas tree and the staff was very courteous, friendly, and helpful--especially Stephen. We enjoyed shopping and found some good buy. It was our first visit; we hope to make it a yearly tradition.

Sorely disappointed. Macy's has let Field's go to hell. You can tell there has been so little investment in the place. It was truely a place of beauty that is now a shell of it's former self. Every restroom is the place was a mess and the store is being butchered beacuse Macy's sold everything from the 8th floor up. The Christmas windows used to tell stories. Now, they just look slapped together. So very sad.

Had a hard time finding anything. Store was very disorganized, there were no maps anywhere. Ended up leaving without purchasing anything because I couldn't find what I needed and staff sent me the wrong direction multiple times. Two stars because the art exhibit/installation was cool
