I usually have no problem at this store, as I frequent it often, but the Kitchen department is horrible! I was there twice this week, and both times I had to search for someone to assist me. There were no cashiers at either station both times. Also, I was unaware that you cannot place your items in a "brought from home" bag while your transaction is pending. I've been to many stores in Chicago, and have NEVER been told this! Also, I was unaware that the cashier cannot place your items in the bag that was brought from home, because "they don't know what it is in". The customer service I just received was very poor.
STATE STREET store has much better and modern/New items than RIVER OAKS
I love Macys. This place is huge. They had what I needed and the salesperson are nice.
The 5 stars are for the sales person at the tie and shirt department who helped me pick up a tie for my husband. She took the time to take me around and help me pick the right tie.
Love sale have shoes jewelry dresses slacks. For ladies. Staff nice to. Just saying.
I went to this store to buy a couch I already picked out. Furniture is listed on the 6th floor. I take the escalators up to the sixth floor to find that it is completely blocked off with no signs forcing you to go up to the 7th floor which is excessively chaotic to be told that I need to go to the basement level (which took 10 mins alone). Get to the basement level where all of the employees were in groups gossiping and seemed offended if asked where to go. Finally get confirmation from an incredibly offputting man that I actually need to be on the 8th floor. This should have been the easiest $1500 they ever made, but instead I will never be returning.
I love this Macy's. It's the flagship store and it has so many products to choose from along with several different restaurants. It's also in a great location for other shopping and walking around.
Gorgeous architecture! The views were awesome from the Walnut room. We went during the flower fest! It was out of this world. All the years in Chicago I can't believe I've never been to this historical place. I was in awe at how huge it was and shopping wasn't so expensive. If you're visiting Chicago Macy's is a must stop! Make a day of it.
This place is amazing! There are so many awesome things to look at. Make sure not to miss the mosaic ceiling on the fourth floor, and the view from the ninth floor! There's a tasty, inexpensive restaurant on the first floor, and amazing architectural details everywhere. Totally worth a trip, and the shopping is secondary. Enjoy!
What a come down from Fields! Dirty bathrooms, missing supplies, lots of walls needing paint touch-ups, children's section disorganized and sloppy, selections very limited. Total disappointment.
Very cool place to be inside because ot has so many different levels. I am amazed of how big this Macys was! I am also use to Macy's being fairly well priced in my area. This particular Macy's had high end designer items and was highly expensive. I am amazed that people can afford some of these items. Saw a sweater that looked very similar to one that I got at target andbit was $600! I almost fell over. What can I do for a living to afford a $600 sweater please?
This place has 7 floors. First time being in a Macy's like this.
With a little patience and calm you can always find something very interesting especially the prices in the offers are really bargain
Store is always clean and neat. Macy's always have great deals.
I am surprised department stores are still around. Macy's is great about lots of sales, but there is never enough staff around to help or check out.
It was very nice, the store had beautiful displays, will be returning very soon
I try to always take advantage of their sales with my Macy's card. Huge selection of clothes for the whole family. Some Macy's even have a restaurant, bar, valet and many amenities.
great holiday window display with the famous walnut room. 12 levels of shopping. a must shop and see. 2017
A wide selection...always a good deal to be had (especially if you sign up for a card). Big, bright and its always nice when they decorate for the Holidays. Staff are always friendly and are very helpful
The flagship Macy store in the Chicago land area. It s expensive but they have quality products and it's located in the old Marshall Fields building which has a lot of history behind it
Had a wonderful brunch at the Walnut Room in Macy's. The service was excellent!
Beautiful store! We just went to look at the building and all the different departments available. If anyone is just there for sight seeing, the third floor has the best view if the floors above and below and the ceiling. If your going to seriously shop, set aside at least 2 hours because there's really good sales rack on almost every floor.
A truly giant Macy's, great selection. Amazing historic building.
Beautiful store !! It has everything !!! But prices are high.
My friend bought her mother a beautiful bracelet from Uno de 50. The service was excellent and all of the store pieces are really eye catching!!
9 floors!!! This is an awesome Macy's! So glad I came
Do not bother everything overpriced regardless of sales no food courts. Boring fashions. Now I know why it's dying
Great store. Selections excellent. Remodeling now so finding departments a little confusing. It is a magnificent store.
Huge Macy's store with a great location. Service is consistently friendly and selection is great, with many brands not found in smaller stores.
One of the best I've visited. Very large and with good seasonal prices.
Excelent i get so much pleasure out of the Mini Facials i recieve from them.
The State St. Store will never be the same. So sad!
I will admit that this store has a pretty decent selection and that it is a beautiful. Service tends to be toward horrid then bad. I have shopped at this this Macy's a few times in the past and it never seems to improve. By the time you find what you want and are ready to buy, you are on the hunt to find a person working that can check you out. This last time I went, I attempted to buy to pairs of jeans and some sports wear. After hunting for 10 minutes to find a person to check me out, she could not get the security device off one of the items I had. Her suggestion to me was to go back upstairs (on the other side of the building) to get another pair and then check out upstairs with all the items.
That is not the shopping experience I expect for a store like Macy's. If I wanted to be treated like I was at Walmart, I would have went to WALMART!! This sales associate should have called up to the jeans department and had a pair brought down to us and finished the transaction.
I have never had many great experiences shopping at Macy's but this is my final straw.
While they have a large selection, expect little to no help in customer service.
Lot of construction in there. Didn't see anything I really liked.
They had a flower show going on and they were giving away free makeup samples love Macy's always something going on
Great selection of items, but being that it is downtown Chicago it is expensive.
Went in for a birthday gift for my sister and found a great faux fur great price
the store needs to be cleaned up..its not Grand any more with homeless people in the basement sleeping
Beautiful Tiffany Ceiling Macy s (Marshall Fields) Chicago
Nice department store with tasteful exhibit of their merchandise. Large selection of merchandise. Don't miss the mosaic ceiling. Good sales.
Huge and neat departmental store... Large selection with great price... 10% off for foreigner... Luv it
They have a first class selection of the best brands in the United States. In addition to footwear and clothing, you will find a wide variety of brands of cosmetics and fragrances, mixed in a very pleasant atmosphere and exquisite attention.
It's just wonderful to experience buy things and have a pleasant day
Disappointed because the traditional Christmas tree wasn t displayed. I remember when Macy s took over, they said it was a priority to keep the tradition alive. Bummer
Jeff was great upstairs in the furniture department.
Amazing selection and huge space but half the employees are unhelpful while the other half go above and beyond.
Who doesn't love Macy's? Loved it more when it was Marshall Fields though....Great food downstairs!
Found the place kind of crowded and dumpy. A bit like a vertical K-mart. There's an in-store Build-a-Bear that doesn't accept the chain's coupons. My only positive observation was the employees are much friendlier that Field's employees used to be, so there's that
Bought this hoodie, and they didn't remove atni theft tag.very disappointed. Now I have to go back to get this thing off..
It's Chicago and right in the Heart of the city what more can I say.
i go shopping there every time.
i like it very much
i hope you enjoy it.
I was shopping on the first floor of Macy's and the customer service needs some improvements.
Marshall Field was great and Macy's has done a pretty good job keeping up the integrity of the building. Good merchandise, friendly staff. 7 floors of merchandise, be ready to shop, it goes forever.
A huge Macy's that decorates their display windows just like the one in New York during the holidays. They have food areas as well for when you get hungry from all the shopping. There are lots of floors to explore for everyone. I think that it's a great place to shop at while in Chicago.
Historical building, great selection of clothes , good resteraunts on the 7th floor. A great place to spend a rainy afternoon. Could use a bit more staff.
Fine dining in the Walnut room. Wonderful wait staff and atmosphere. Our holiday favorite.
Excellent shopping place for clothes. Lots of variety and lots of proce range.
Huge place, they have everything! 2 great food courts and a unique liquor, wine store. Parking is hard.
You have to be lucky to find an offer. I prefer to buy online in that store
As a European i just love shopping there! You get super cheap designer clothes! And the staff is also really friendly and always helpful!
Coolest looking Macy's I've been to yet, the decorations were wild and the architecture was intriguing.
Horrible prices and products. The staff are horrible.
