Normally higher but with three escalators not functioning on a holiday Friday weekend out 3 stars.

Love the flower show here. Unfortunately, it was greatly reduced this year.

I spent an hour there and I didn't even see half of it. If you like shopping, you're going to love this place.

My favorite Macy's to go to! Better than the Michigan ave.

Tourist spot. Avoid on weekends if possible. Great selection of items. Recommend the food court and bars on the 7th floor.

Christmas shopping is not the same without a stop here.

Good merchandise. Service good,. It excellent but good.

I love Macy s! I used to work there so I m a tad bit biased. I bought some Levi pants there and there was only one cashier helping customers. Three customers, including myself, were in line waiting to be helped. I waited for a while before I finally got to purchase the pants. Other than that, I m satisfied with the pants I bought and the service in which the cashier gave me.

I love Macy's excellent service, always clean and very professional. One bad experience with the tall fair completed black lady in the perfume department. She looked at me turned her head as if I didnt have any money
She then yelled across the counter at another mand to assist, turned and looked at me again an walked away but the other reps assisted me with a smile.

It's a shame to see a historic landmark like Marshall Fields on State looking so rundown and neglected. Shame on you Macys!

Macy's is an iconic department store and worth a visit whenever there is one in the city you are in.

Fun downtown location with Frontera Fresca and the Walnut Room. All people should stop here while in the Loop for shopping.

Each brand has its own booth, a bit hard to look for a type of product as no one can tell you where to find it, you have to visit each brand individually...

I love shopping at this Macy's. The customer service is extraordinary. From my experience, I can say it is personalized. I have gone to other Macy's but by far this one is the best and I am never disappointed. I always find what I am looking for. I guess they have spoiled me over the years. But I do know I will try not to ever step foot in the Macy's in River Oaks unless it is out of desperation. Thanks Macy's on State street for giving me the perfect shopping experience consistently.

Visited both the MAC counter and the Benefits counter and I was very happy with the service and the results.

I like the way they preserved the Marshall Field's & co. Design. The food and service in the restaurants ......most excellent. Wonderful selection of clothing and a lot of bargains.

Macy's is not good quality shopping...on par with Kohl's or lower. Certainly not the store that Marshall Field's was.

Going to see the old Marshall Fields building is one thing. Spending endless hours shopping like a zombie is another.

I haven't gone to Macy's for a long time. The store has great fragrance products, but they can be quite expensive.

I have been going to this store ever since I was a child. Macy's has not kept this store up at at all since purchasing. We ate in the Walnut Room - the food was just ok, not the glitz and glamour I remember - and the service slowed down once the restaurant started to fill up. When a family of 4 + a high chair walked in, they gave us table of four and shoved the high chair on a corner of the table making it hard for other patrons to get around our table, constantly having to slide in and out throughout our stay. There was a rather thick layer of dust on the vents and fire extinguisher nozzles in the ceiling right above your tables throughout the Walnut Room. There was too much stuff in the middle of the main aisles on the first floor making it difficult to navigate through, especially with a stroller and holiday patronage. What's with the directory poles on the first floor, right in the middle of the aisle - again making it difficult to navigate around. There were multiple elevators not working, an entire bank of 5 not working and blocked off - and the one's that were working (original elevators) had multiple "broken" items - I use that term loosely. There were tiles loose on the floor, right up front and center when you walk in, most of the lights did not light up and when the car was approaching the floor, there was at least 15 seconds before the doors opened. I can't even imagine being in that store the week before Christmas, it would be a nightmare!

I've seen better Macy's. I was there for the holidays and was hoping for a more festive spirit. It is large.

Probably one of the best Macy's in town. Enough said.

Clean, comfortable, cultural service, you can spend all day there and most importantly - everything is there.

Beautiful store, loved the Christmas decorations and history up on 7th floor. Only bad things were the bathrooms, absolutely disgusting.

In this place, great offers can be found! Totally recommend it for great savings and surreal deals!

I love this place! The staffs are very meticulous, they return all items to it's place, fold each clothes that were not in place.

Definitely loved my shoes. This Macy's is Huge. 8 floors I believe. I thought I could tackle this Macy's, wrong!!! I would have to do a floor a day. The staff was very polite and friendly, I love it...

So, I'm one of those Chicagoans that never felt Macy lived up to Marshall Fields. Today, has changed all that. We went to buy my adult son new suits and Derrick was ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!! What I thought was going to be a challenging shopping trip turned into THE BEST service I could have ever asked for. Derrick, with his experience, grace, knowledge, and customer service, has put Macy's "on the map" for me. Men, women shopping for men, GO TO DERRICK! My young adult son said, "If he wanted to sell me another head, I would buy it!"

This location has cleaned itself up a bit the last couple of years. It's wonderful during the Holidays and has classy music playing all the time. It's my favorite place to go during this time of year just to walk around. The lower level could use a bit of clean up and security though.

Great massive selection but confusing layout lol this macy's needs internal Google map!

This is my first time ordering with Macy's and it will for sure be my last. I have had an incredibly terrible customer experience, from my order never being placed, to receiving a voicemail from some woman named Tammy informing me that my order was never placed and that i would get a 15% discount as an "apology for the inconvenience" and giving me a reference number to use when I call back. I called back to repurchase the item and the customer service representatives were beyond rude and completely unhelpful. I was put on hold for more than 30 mins on one call and when I hung up and called back I was then transferred to the directory. Terrible, terrible customer service completely unhelpful and I will NOT be purchasing anything from Macy's again. Do not purchase furniture from Macy's you can get significantly better assistance from other companies.

This place is historical. Who knows how long this place will remain here with somay big companies closing. Defitnetly check this place out if you are looking to shop at Macy's. If not just come check out the beautiful architecture.

I find this place really big so expect that you'll have a very wide range of selection but quite tiring to roam around the establishment. They also have lots of sales mostly in clothing and footwear section though whether they are on sale or not they are still quite affordable compared to the other shopping stores out there so give this place a visit and you'll love it.

I like this place because of the amazing deals and excellent selection in all sizes, but I'm a Marshall Field's kind of lady, so its so so so sad to see that Macy's hasn't kept up the maintenance of the historic building.

Very bad experience, I went to change three intimate items and the cashier returned the amount of a piece of clothing.

I requested the service to clients, I sent an e-mail, and it's been 4 days and that store does not respond.

I lost 18 dollars for the incompetence of a cashier who was also very discourteous.

It was at the State Street store.

Macy's Chicago is a magical maze. You'd be surprised to find some of the unbestable prices just alongside some of the premium priced items. Keep shopping here.

Again its Macy's who doesnt love it. This is however a huge store once being the original Marshall Fields. Historic building

When I was young(er), I was here before it was here. Must have been Marshall Fields, judging by the other reviews. (I'm not a native, just an occasional visitor.) I remember thinking it was great, and something to see. When I came here last year with a friend of mine, we went to see and be awed- however it was just ok. At the time, I chalked it up to over romanticizing the past. Looks like perhaps my memory was serving me correct all these years after all. It's just another Macy's now.
