Absolutely iconic location and store. You won t believe how large the store is. Staff was very kind, helpful, and patient. Prices were actually surprisingly reasonable. Negatives are the fact that the tree viewing floor was closed when we were there. It didn t seem like there was a way to be able to see famed Christmas Tree aside from sneaking a look from the chestnut room. The store also seemed a bit dingy in areas. Lastly, I was very disappointed to see virtually the exact same windows on State Street as last year. C amon Macy s - cough up some budget and creativity there for those of us that travel from afar to visit your store. Old Marshall would be disappointed.

I thing management could improve the Santa Wonderland experience. Have separate lines for group and individual sittings with Santa. Or have groups schedule appointments ahead of time. Lines are long when they don't have to be.

This Macy's (previously Marshall Fields) has several floors of clothing, cosmetics, jewelry, furniture, bedding, and dining. The Red Line L train is accessible from the basement without going outside. The Walnut Room is a very nice dining experience. In many cases the service and quality are not quite what you would find at Nordstrom, but this is a good place to find a bargain.

Macy Downtown is in the Iconic Marshfields Building, and I feel that Macy's isn't keep up the building every where I went there was signs of deterioration. Leaks with garbage cans catching water in bathroom. It takes away from the experience. Also as a older shopper it made me sad, because as a small child all the way up into my adulthood use to be proud of that store, and its History and architecture! Shame they letting it fall apart!.

The store was nice, well maintained and clean until I got to the underground food court. You could smell the restrooms from 20 feet away and the restrooms themselves we're dirty and unkempt and the odor was obnoxious. Nice place to shop but avoid the restrooms at all costs!

I like this Macy's, the employees are usually pretty great. The only thing is the restroom in the basement is just so gross! Wish they wouldve used some of the $$ from the escalator remodel to spruce up the bathroom!!

While in the store (Mens fragrance department) I was looking and trying on samples. While there not ONE MACY EMPLOYEE greeted me or ask did I need some type of assistance. I really wanted to purchase this cologne but after waiting for about 10 minutes with any recognition I figured my money (a long with a few others) wasnt wanted.Safe to say. I wont be back at this store and wont recommend it to anyone else. Do better Macy's.. DO BETTER!

Please pay attention and make sure that your clothes are lock free

I lost my wallet here and called to try to find it. Several calls went unanswered, I was hung up on, and unless I knew the exact department it was left in, nobody could help. The associates won't communicate with each other, you have to talk to each separately.

This is a flag ship store, so it's huge. Don't expect to find anything quickly, or get in and out fast. Their men's section is massive, but if you're looking to browse tons of top designers, plan to spend a chunk of time here. I like the order online pick up in store option, works well and is convenient located on first floor by the door.

I have been a Macy's customer for quite a while now. My husband and I even bought our bedroom set here so I was very disappointed with the poor customer service provided in the shoe department. I get that it was busy and that some items may be sold out in certain sizes but the clerk could not be bothered to check more than 2 sizes for me, made me shout my request across the store, read off the available sizes (none of which were the ones i asked for) - how does it help me to know all the sizes you have that AREN'T my size? I waited for at least a half hour for this lackluster customer service. I didn't even bother to try to find another style (I'm sure it would have resulted in more eye-rolling on the part of the clerk) I just walked out. I'll go somewhere where i can access my own shoes and not be at the mercy of snotty clerks who can't be bothered.

The space that was formerly Marshall Field's is a beautiful store, although the quality of service has declined since becoming Macy's. I love the architecture here, especially the large Tiffany glass dome in the center. The make up department is very nice and they have almost every brand you could want. I dislike that the women's clothing department is all the way up on a high floor, it is annoying to take mail order returns to that department.

They have some of the best holiday window displays in Chicago, they change every year and they always tell a story. Worth taking a look if you are here over the holiday season.

Cheap looking, department store wares. All the menswear brands look the same. Plenti or Rewards programs are the standard 15-25% gimics. Barely a step above Walmart or Target for home goods.

This downtown location is the iconic historical location of the famous Macy predecessor. This is not your ordinary mall store and is a must see for men & women visiting downtown Chicago. Visit the top floor for the historical timeline of the founders and this location. There are a lot of items in this store that are not available at their mall locations.
