NO PRIVACY & MANY ITEMS BROKEN!!!! The management entered the hotel room of my fiance and I TWICE without permission. One time we were not there, but the other time I was half naked. I am so livid! They say they had the right to enter our room because someone complained of a smoke smell coming from our room. There is not proof of this happening, I believe it is a lie to cover their wrong doing. (We had a manager come in to smell the room when we were there, he said it smelled fine. A second manager angrily came into the room after him and gave us the same lie about her getting a report of someone smelling smoke. THEIR OWN MANAGER COULD NOT SMELL ANY SMOKE! )

The shower had extremely low water pressure. The TV did not work (It charged us for a movie, but it would not play. We had to have them fix it TWICE, and it STILL did not work!) Both of our room keys had to be re-keyed 6-7 times within two days because they would not work. And even though we paid full price for a couples massage....the sauna and steam rooms were not working either. I am extremely disappointed and angry that these things took time away from my fiance and I having a good vacation!!!!!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!! THEY WILL RUIN YOUR VACATION!!!!

The property is really nice and the room I guess was decent. However, the biggest issue was that my room didn't seem to to be cleaned at all. There's was candy stuck on the floor and a piece of hair in my tub. I didn't have a chance to switch my room or complain because I was running late to an event. With the amount of money that was spent on the room, I expected it to be cleaned to regular standards. Except I got worse. Don't know if I'll ever go there again.... TBD.

Next to a beautiful park and over see a mariner. What a view! Short walking distance to good restaurants and boating and more. Hotel has competent chef and cooks, though the price is a little pricey. Staff are friendly and helpful. Great pools and clean rooms. Will come visit again in the future.

Very uncomfortable pillows, double beds are too small for a couple. Pool menu, chips were stale, barely had any send them back didn't hear anything from manager. Asked housekeeping for extra towels never got them, had to get them myself. Disappointed.

I have only used the Spa facilities, I live locally. The services are excellent. The food from the Spa menu, served inside or on the patio, is wonderful. The staff is friendly and attentive. The facilities are immaculate. This is my favorite getaway when I need to really de-stress.

Simply amazing from start to finish! Came for a wedding and fell in love with the views. This is the nicest cleanest hotel in DP and priced extremely well for business travelers. I cannot recommend enough to all my clients

Definitely one of the nicest hotels we have ever s...

Definitely one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed at. The location is wonderful overlooking the beaches. The staff is very polite and cater to your needs. The rooms and buildings were very clean. The only downfall was the large amount of children that seem to run wild....but that would be a problem with the guests more so. We will be returning often! Thanks for a great weekend with the family Marriott!

Elegant 5 star Hotel and Resort perched on small cliff with breathtaking views of the ocean and gorgeous sunsets every day.

The staff is top notch. The best ever service. Evening turn down service and chocolates every day around 6 pm.

-The Valet guys try to bully you into the $40/per night valet parking. What a scam - tried to tell me I couldn't park out front to check in. Also, if you don't mind walking, there is parking on Golden Lantern Street. Then you can walk up Eastern Lantern Street to the gate, to the right. Just don't walk too far up E. Lantern St. - you cannot access the hotel there.

-Rooms are not that great. I got "ocean view", but was really a view of Golden Lantern Street.

-Halls smell like an old sock. Carpet is dirty.

-Staff isn't what you'd expect for the price you pay.

-Really the only good thing about this place is it sits on a hill with a 180 view - which isn't necessarily mind blowing.

Overall, just not worth what they charge. Disappointing.

While the hotel itself was decent, no one bothered to tell us that a wedding was taking place outside of our room, and the tear-down lasts well after. I finally got up and shut the window at 12:15am. And let's not forget the live entertainment that also went to midnight. Would have been nice to be told and given the option to move.

Had the rudest experience of my life here after waiting 30 minutes for my car. Called down from my room- waited 20 minutes after no car went to valet - despite pushing zero and speaking to someone he said he never got the message my car was to be brought around. Wait another 13 minutes care finally gets brought around. Hand valet $5;tip seems stated I realize this isn't your fault but this was a debacle I'm going to be late for a meeting. The valet starts yelling at me where people actually turn around what you think you're entitled you don't have to wait for your car there's a process you have to wait at Disneyland you don't think you have to wait here for your car? Snot nose jerk. I reiterated sir I said I realize this isn't your fault but I've now waited almost 35 minutes for my car that I called down for and people that walked up and handed their ticket 20 minutes after I had called for my car had received our car he again raised his voice started yelling at me in front of a group of people the rudest experience I have ever dealt with in my life. I've been a Marriott Gold member for almost 20 years I will think twice about staying again! While the renovated resort was lovely and the housekeeping staff amazing... the air was turned off in the hallways in the pool closed one of the days I was there for a photoshoot when you're paying over $300 a night for a room you expect to be able to use the amenities and not sweat while waiting for an elevator. I probably would have written a review other than I was so rudely and poorly treated by the valet and that was the second time I called down and had to wait more than 20 minutes for the ballet on this occasion I was going to be late for a business meeting. What is the point of calling down for your car? The pompous arrogant young man I dealt with I've never been spoken to that way in my life as a professional or other he deserves to lose his job! I wish I had it on video recording because my description does not do justice to how rudely I was treated.

The hotel is located up on a beautiful hilltop overlooking the Dana Point harbor. The rooms are comfortable and come with balconies, making it even nicer. The service is excellent: 100% valet parking, friendly, attentive, and even surprising. We were celebrating a birthday and they brought up a card, an evening cake, and even a complementary breakfast down at their restaurant-- Vou. Overall, this place is a wonderful stay with excellent service. I hope to come again.

I really like the customer service at this Marriot...

I really like the customer service at this Marriott. They went out of their way to find me an ocean view room to celebrate a special occasion and also worked with me to fit it into my budget. We sat on the balcony and watched the sunset, walked everywhere we needed to go, and overall had a wonderful time. The experience inspired me to decide to use Marriott everywhere I go. It seems like they put a special effort into truly listening and trying to "get" the one or two things that are most important to each customer. It's not that the hotels are perfect - it's just that extra care that I sense - and I also sense that this kind of customer service is becomming more rare. It's SO nice to receive. Thank you - we really appreciated it!

Amazing. The staff is awesome. From valet parking guys , check in people, to the bar tenders, room service & house keeping. Definatlty recommend. Much better service than the Ritz Carlton we stayed at in Denver 2 weeks ago. Service & accommodations worth coming back too. Great location! We are Marriott Members stayed 12/2-12/4.

Very beautiful setting and friendly staff. The rooms seem a little dated for the price. Bathtub faucet had constant drip and tile grout was falling apart.

Food and bar were decent and inviting. Lots of good restaurants in the area. Beaches are dirty with debris and had warnings of high bacteria count.

Terrible first impression! Laguna Cliffs Marriott...

Terrible first impression! Laguna Cliffs Marriott valet service is the worst!!! Upon arrival, the valet insisted on my car keys before check in. I explained that we had been to the beach and needed to fix our luggage before it was removed from the car. The valet assured me that he would keep the car out front and we could take care of our luggage after check-in. Check-in took about 3 minutes. When we returned, we found all of our unpacked luggage (individual pieces of clothing, personal items, etc.) being removed from the car and put onto a luggage cart! What an embarrassing experience!...and it only got worse from there. As a Marriott Platinum Elite member, it isn't my first experience with valet service...but it was the worst!

Pretty expensive (1300 for Friday to Monday) for the experience. Walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors. Pool bar and food service closes at 5 which I thought was odd considering the pool was still very busy. Resort is very busy in general (July) and all drink or food service took much longer than it should have. For example when we arrived we asked for a bottle of wine and an appetizer (chips) which took 30 minutes. Those items are presumably premade. I was given a room with a view of the parking lot, a "resort view". we asked house keeping to come back when they knocked at 3:30-4 by they hasn't returned by 8

Adding more:
Ithe little things matter when you're paying on avg 400-500 a night. We called down to get towels at one point and the receptionist asked how many- anticipating that we would need extra, we asked for 4. They brought 2. Why even ask how many?

I left a note on the nightstand asking to replace the sheets because we got sand in it. They just made the bed and didn't replace the linens. Again, 400 a night and they don't do the little things.

I have booked 3 meetings at this hotel and have good experiences, but never stayed the night. I took my wife thier ofr her birthday and booked the Couples retreat at the Spa. After 30 minutes of a 90 minute massage, my wife had to get up and leave the therapist was so bad(not sure he was trained). We get about 10 a year so we have a descent idea what a good massage is. Horrible experience and they gave only 10% off a bill of just under $550(total waste of money). Seconly a friend called to have chocolate covered strawberries and bubbly sent to the room and guess what,it was never brought tot eh room. If we go again we would only use the room, which was noce and not the amenities.

Awful experience. I've been a Titanium client of Marriott's for 15+ years. I've never written a critical review on a property until tonight. Spent 100k in points to take our family to their property for two nights. The list of disappointments runs long so i'll try to capture the essence:

1. Found and killed at least 50 ants in our room. Their fix to this issue was sending up a bug boy with high-potency Round-Up. Ants were on the beds and around the bathroom floors.
2. When using the platinum Breakfast vouchers in the dining area they still applied a 21% service charge to our breakfast. So the "free breakfast" ended up costing $35+.
3. I left my AirPods on the bedside table after checking out. My daughter saw them just before we left the room. Lost and Found never found them and have been largely uncommunicative.
4. Beds are full size - small for two adults.

I've stayed at Marriott properties all over the world. This was a rare disappointment. Very poor experience.

We arrived at the beautiful Laguna Cliffs Marriott, but when we went to check in at the front desk, they were unable to locate our reservations, thats because I mixed my dates up and scheduled our trip for 3/22/15 instead of 3/29/15, which means we were a no show for our reservations, my error. Thankfully we had the help of Aldfo, who went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and not charged for my mistake. The hotel was beautiful, but the customer service from Aldfo was superior, thanks for going the extra mile. I would recommend this hotel completely on the service I received! Thank you so much, we look forward to staying at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort again, I promise to arrive on the correct date next time!

In an effort to grow and acquire signature Properties, the Marriott is lacking in keeping up with the Service and Standards it wes once known for. Having owned three Time Shares with the Marriott and been a long time Member of its Loyalty Programs, I am having second thoughts of continuing my patronage with them. I had a wonderful experience when staying at the Montage, a few miles from the Laguna Cliffs Marriott and the difference in Service and Hospitality, was night and day. Perhaps the Marriott should send its Senior Management Team to the Montage, so see what Quality Service is all about, and how it is done Right, the First time and Every Time.

Love the area - Dana Point is fabulous.
Spent the first of 3 nights here - Uncomfortable mattresses - bow in the middle. They have offered to inspect and change. Will keep posted on this.
This is a valet only property - so be prepared to pay $32 + tips per night in parking
Add $25 per night in resort fees

I went there with my family. It was a great experience! Great hotel accommodations, super friendly and service oriented staff. The restaurants and bar provided great quality food, pricey as everything else around OC. Yes, there is $37 daily valet service and $25 resort fee. But, sometimes if you want to play, you have to pay. The valet team was awesome and the service at the pool was outstanding. Lots of great beaches and things to do nearby. I highly recommend rent a car but if you can walk or have patience to wait for shuttles you have that more cost effective option. They will also allow you to use bicycles, surf boards and bogey boards as part of the resort fee. Awesome work out room and putting green to keeps everyone busy. I recommend this place and willl go again.

Nice hotel in a great location. We had one of the renovated rooms and it was excellent. The service at the valet and front desk was great. We stopped at the bar after the concert and there was good entertainment. The beer prices are typical hotel high prices
