Certainly is a great hotel and fantastic location, but beware of the parking scam that will cost you $40 ($37 plus taxes) a day. It says "Valet Parking" in the fine print, but doesn't say that you MUST use the Valet service if you want to park in the adjacent garage. Check-in staff gave me vague directions of where street parking was located and lied saying "there's only about 10 spots and if they're taken you're out of luck." Gee thanks Marriott staff. In fact I had no problem finding a spot for free overnight parking on any of the days we stayed. If you choose to self park overnight, just be prepared for a very pleasant walk of 10 - 15 minutes. We did that and found much better ways to spend $200 than to give it to Marriott to valet park my car. This issue irritated me way more than it should have - but now it's off my chest!!
The other irritant was the noisiest room air conditioner you've ever heard and the fact that you could not have "fan on constant" all night, to provide some 'white noise' to cover the guests coming and going all night or the service corridor and elevator dinging. I should have asked to be relocated, but, after everything is all unpacked it is kind of a hassle.

Well, I was down here for a managers meet for my company... I didn't pick the place, but judging from the room and overall venue, I'd call it a "four star" hotel... After a long (and fun!) night, I happened to come down for a smoke (in their "smoking section") and found my truck parked in their registration/valet section. Totally unlocked and just sitting there... This was after I found it earlier in the evening in the same location. I tried the passenger door and found it locked, so I didn't really question it... It's been there all night and I just confirmed it was completely able to be parked in their valet parking. Fortunately, I know better to leave anything worth stealing in it (nor do I fear it being vandalized in Dana Point!), but the principal of it...! Just wanted to share for future guests...

avoid rooms on the top floor. the person at the front desk said she was giving us a room in the best location - on the top floor closest to the water for a great view. the room was tiny and felt claustrophobic - no balcony - only small, high windows that you could peer out. we asked to change rooms and ended up in a standard room on a lower floor - much larger with a nice balcony that had a magnificent ocean view. totally different vibe and we ended up having a great time.

We were in Vegas on Oct 1st and we were supposed to stay until the 3rd. Ultimately, we made the decision to leave Vegas early for a few different reasons. We didn't know where to travel to before catching our scheduled flight home and decided last minute on Laguna. It had been a long 24 hours and we didn't have any reservations. The gentlemen at the front desk were super friendly, accommodating, and sincere. After a long day, they made us feel comfortable. The accommodations were fantastic with the rooms being very clean. Everyone we came in contact with went out of their way to make us comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

This resort is amazing. I only went for a picnic but my husband's room was right next to the pool and had a great view! The picnic had great entertainment provided by the resort. I enjoyed every minute of our stay!

We had an overall good experience here. My 1 concern is that there's no self-parking you have to valet park if you're going to stay here. The other option is to park clear down a hill and walk up 100 + stairs to get to the hotel and then you have to make the same trip back to your car. The conference that I attended here was very well done the accommodations were great and the hotel staff was fantastic. I would say that the Valley staff is one of the fastest that I've ever seen in my life they literally run to get your car and run back with keys and they are very efficient. I had a slight concern in my room and the hotel manager was quick to resolve it and to make sure that I was happy with the way it was handled. The resort overlooks the Pacific Ocean and has amazing views from several of the rooms. There are two heated swimming pools and lots of nice open area to enjoy relaxing. I would encourage the hotel 2 be more conscientious of the transient population that's nearby at the bottom of the hill around the base of this Resort it seems as though the transient population here is out of hand and that there aren't enough resources to take care of those that are a few hundred yards away from the resort. It just felt at times a little unsafe due to all of the transient activity and police activity with them near the resort

Pompous arrogant staff, small rooms, outdated hotel that wants to be a 4 star but really just passes as a 3 star nice Best Western when you see the rooms. They valet park your car which is silly at this hotel and annoying also, I really find it inconvenient to have to wait each time you want to get your car brought to you. The vibe is really stuffy and if you come dressed casual they snoot up their noses to you. I have stayed at some very nice hotels, I know the difference in a 4 and a rare 5 star hotel. It is a laugh how they view themselves at this hotel. If you want attitude, small dated rooms, and overpriced Best Western then you will love this hotel.

Fantastic service by EVERYONE!! The spa was great and my masseuse was amazing. So many people went out of their way to make us feel welcomed.

There are so many nice places nearby with walking distance.

I booked this hotel as a vacation/birthday getaway for my wife. A couple of days in her mother passed away and the hotel refused to give us the remaining of our balance back. Do not ever prepay with marriott and best of all dont stay with this chain.
