Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa Review

Rooms were somewhat compact compared to other places around the area but typical of Marriot

Albeit a beautiful setting the Service for a Flagship Property such as the Laguna Cliff Marriott was disappointing. Marriott needs to invest in training their staff to ensure a magical experience for their guests, like that provided by its neighbouring resort, The Montage. Perhaps they can learn what Quality Service is all about from them!!

Our favorite breakfast restaurant. Great view, delicious food and friendly staff. It is always a pleasure to visit!

The hotel is gorgeous and the view from all over the grounds is breathtaking! There are two pools, one for adults and one for families. The family pool includes a really fun sprayground. There is also a putting green, tennis and ping pong available for entertainment. There is a daily resort fee that includes use of all these facilities and wireless internet. It also includes 2 free bike rentals for 2 hours each day! The one and only complaint I have is the $37 valet fee per day that is unavoidable because there is no other parking available nearby. So take that into consideration when figuring out your per night costs. This is in addition to the $25 a day resort fee.

They have recently renovated and it really shows. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend staying here.

I attended a wedding reception here. The venue was what I expect from a high end hotel such as this. Views from the exterior to the ocean are stunning.

We had a deal, and I really believed they treated us poorly because of that. They put us in the second closest room next to the ballroom. They had a wedding party there, music with the doors opened to the balroom continued late in the night. Called front desk a few times after 11pm. They didn't really address the issue. Also next door room, they were part of the wedding, and they were loud and slamming door, talking loudly thru the night. Treated poorly, even with the discount it was pricey. Dont go there.
On a subsequent stay we got treated much better. Used SPG points to cover room costs. But parking fee + tax was still pricey ($39+$29)

Venue is absolutely beautiful. Perfect place to hold an event. Venue was superb. Views magnificent. Had lunch on outside deck. Only complaint was the restaurant was overwhelmed and everything was slow. Pretty much no service. Every step of the meal was flagging someone down to take order, get food, get more water, get check etc. but it was the perfect spot for slow service. We simply enjoyed the view. And when the food did arrive it was great!

Location is fantastic, staff is wonderful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The bed however was uncomfortably creaky and the shower was sub par. Overall it's your typical overpriced resort.

Great hotel with amazing views. I was lucky enough to get upgraded to an ocean view room and it was amazing. There's a lot of local restaurants nearby and everything we wanted to get to, we could walk to. The staff here were very friendly as well. I would come back in a heartbeat. Also it is California, the weather was nice the whole time that we were here.

Didn't stay at the hotel but was here for a wedding. Amazing view and pool, bar was fast and drinks were good

This is beautiful Hotel and Spa Resort is very nice on the cliff you can see the ocean view from here and it's close to the Dana Point Harbor very nice.

Clean, decent sized rooms. Professional staff. Room service never took the 25-30 quote time. The sashimi salad and the shrimp and lobster salad were very fresh! If you want to head to the beach. It's a walk down the hilline to the light, keep to the right and there you have it. There is also a nice little playground next to the hotel to let the kids run of their steam. Have fun and enjoy.

This hotel is a secluded gem in the heart of Dana Point. With panoramic views of the harbor and the Pacific from atop a bluff, you find yourself transported to a place of peace and serenity. What's more, the interior of this hotel matches the exterior in luxury and attention to detail. It is gorgeous inside and out. Don't miss this gem!

My boyfriend and I stayed here during a weekend long concert. The location was perfect, our room was amazing (and very spacious) and the service was excellent! I wish we had stayed longer because it was so beautiful! It was an easy walk down the street to the beach and to nearby restaurants. The pool was well taken care of, just like the rest of the grounds. I could not get over the view from our hotel room! I highly recommend staying here for a relaxing weekend/week!

Overall a decent hotel but frustrating Valet, service wasn't great, and location wasn't ideal.

I arrived at the hotel, having only used a Valet service a few times in the past, and was immediately given a very rushed feeling. The valet people were obviously in a hurry and were not very friendly, and neither was the front desk staff. Be advised that valet is required and is not optional, and adds and additional cost.

All things considered, the service was decent, and the room was nice and clean, so I would return to this hotel again - but it's important to be aware of what you're getting into.

One of the most beautiful places I've yet traveled to. I'm here annually this time of year for conference and NEVER, ever tire of the experience. An absolute maybe not-so-hidden gem in southern California.

The customer service was excellent!! Samantha found near perfect room for my family. I called when we were on the way, and she made sure We would be happy! The rollaway was in our room and the extra towels were in our room at arrival! The rooms were clean and the pool and hot tub was wonderful!!

Beautiful view over looking the DP Harbor, great green area to play with kids, delicious food at the restaurant! A delightful stay.

Clean water, soft water, clean bed, fluffy towels, nice view.

The spa was very nice, however some of the facilities were a little outdated for the price. My service was amazing and I felt so relaxed afterwards. It was very nice to be able to use the spa the full day and just sit back and relax. I would definitely recommend this spa, I just wish it was priced a little more competitively.

Good for the family! If your looking for something a little more luxurious, go for the Ritz up the street!

The location is right next to the beach. I went with my family for dinner and the fillet was excellent

Great location, great rooms, lousy service.
Felt extraordinarily pretentious and like we were always putting the staff at an inconvenience. Had an issue with jewelry being stolen from our room by housekeeping aided by the fact the safe was broken and not fixed, then management (local and corporate) have given us the hardest time, even refusing to give us a copy of the report. It's been two months and still not even a return call about the status of our issue. That incident perfectly illustrates how they treat people.

I've started here multiple times with family, once for a girls weekend, and once for a professional retreat. This hotel has it all- a pool for kids, close to the beach, great love music at night and a nice spa. Our room had a balcony on the lawn with a view of the ocean. Only wish there were more local restaurants nearby- had to take a Lyft to some restaurants far away

Beautiful resort with excellent service and great views. The restaurants are good, the meeting space is good, and most rooms have balconies.

The resort is very beautiful and the pools areas are a treat. It is true that there is a lot of fees and there were to errors made on our bill (for mini bar and valet) but overall it is an awesome resort in a great location.

We had lovely stay - the valet staff were incredible (the literally ran to get the cars), the rooms were comfortable and clean, room service was great but pricey and the main pool was great (busy but still relatively quiet). The hotel also offers surfboard and bikes hire included which was a plus for us! Would have been 4 stars if the food and drinks (poolside, room service, etc) had been a little bit more affordable!

Beautiful hotel next to the ocean. The hotel has a large green lawn, which is perfect for photo shoots.

Hotel looks beautiful, but I was only there to rent a car. I was sent by my car dealership repair. They seemed to be nervous and overworked. It was not a good experience, however I will go back to check out the hotel.

I have one kid. There are two pools, one for children and adults and one for just adults. Many amenities are included, such as a putting green, free wifi for members, and a kid's club. It does take a little while for the car valets to find your car, but other than that, everything is perfect. There is a Starbucks inside the hotel and you can sign into your Netflix, HBO, and YouTube accounts from the hotel room television. I would definitely come again!

Didn't stay overnight but had a an amazing dinner. Very gluten free friendly.

Had a great event for our workplace happy hour. They make it so easy.

I had a reservation for 6 rooms, 4 rooms was cancelled without notification. I was just informed when I checked in. It was embarrassing for my family who drove 60 miles to go to Laguna Niguel Marriott to findout that 4 rooms were cancelled.

Decent resort but definitely needs some updating. Service was good and amenities are decent for the beautiful location. The food was delicious. The sashimi salad was fresh and just the right portion.

Awesome Sea side resort with great views of the bay

This is an absolutely beautiful resort. I've been several times for work events and the staff is always so nice. For those interested the gym is also pretty nice and spacious!

Family friendly resort and Yoga in the park next door.

Amazing location. Food was great, staff was friendly. Would be 5 stars, easily, but the water pressure in my shower was very weak. Felt like I had to work to get the soap off. I wouldn't let this keep me from coming back though.

If you are a business traveler FIND ANOTHER HOTEL. At the registeration desk I specifically asked Goslyn (TWICE) for a quiet room. She gives me a room across from the Outdoor Bar that is blaring music and of course along with the loud voices of the guests. I call the front desk and then the Manager switches me to a room that faces the busiest and loudest part of the hotel - the main entrance with car alarms going off, drunk and loud guests getting into their cars!!! FINALLY THREE ROOMS LATER I HAVE A QUIET ROOM.

THE STAFF HERE IS ABSOLUTELY INCOMPETENT. FIND ANOTHER HOTEL IF YOU ARE A BUSINESS TRAVELER.
