Great venue, love the new look. Excellent location, wonderful staff, very accomodating and understanding. We were able to check in early. Thank you! Everyone we interacted with was very nice and friendly. We definitely will be back. The only downside is forced valet parking which is $39 per night with no option to self park.

First time at this particular hotel, and it's definitely on my list for a revisit. It's undergoing some renovations, but it doesn't appear to affect operations. They are a valet only hotel, at least at this time, and also require you to sign a non-smoking agreement as this is a policy of the hotel location. The grounds are lovely, the location is gorgeous and the staff is attentive. I was impressed with the speed of the room service and their offerings of specialty Starbucks coffee, like Caramel Macchiato, delivered to your room. I was also pleasantly surprised with the efficiency of their valet service, which can often take 20 minutes at other hotels. We received our vehicle in less than five minutes, despite how busy they were with a Marine Corp Ball being held during our stay. I would suggest springing for the coastal view room if you can. We had a large patio that was nice to go out in evening and spend some time watching the sunset.

Stayed here for a wedding in the area and it was a very nice getaway and stay. The hotel room was nice and so were the hotel grounds. Would definitely come back. The hotal was also kid friend with still having class.

The remodel is beautiful, the grounds are immaculate, the view, wonderful. At 3am the fire alarm went off last night for over half hour.. then again at 7am. The hotel's response...it supposed to go off if there is an issue. They did not care. And the new beds...hard as plywood. I was not impressed and when the hotel didnt care about the lack of sleep. That was the nail in the coffin. Used to be the best place to stay. Not anymore

The location is right across from Doheny Beach and a parkette with barbeque facilities which overlook a cliff. GORGEOUS grounds and very well maintained! Rooms were well sized, modern beach/coastal designed and most with walkout balcony. Linens and bed was so comfortable, it was difficult not to want to stay in bed all day. It's luxurious without being overpriced and over-rated! I would DEFINITELY come back and am already planning the next trip with the hubby.

Lovely location with nice renovated rooms and great pool area. Views of the ocean from the rooms and lounge are good. Front desk staff were helpful and welcoming. Breakfast at Vue is good but service was inconsistent.

Hands down the nicest hotel in the area. The amenities here are top notch and you can't best the location. It's amazing they managed to plop a resort of this magnitude in Dana Point.

Beautiful view, nice staff. had to choose valet as they don't have self parking and I didn't like that the gym was so far away and (I think) in another building than my room. the room service was great and the room was pretty awesome. I'd stay here again.

Very beautiful property. All staff here are over the top. They recently updated rooms at least in part of the hotel where I stayed. A few minor things in the room like the balcony door as well as closet were not properly assembled thus very hard to open. Also no refrigerator in the room. Otherwise one of the nicer Marriott property that I have stayed at.

I visited friends who were staying here while I stayed at the Ritz nearby. We had drinks and food in the restaurant. The music was overly loud and space was crowded compared to the Ritz. My friends did not love the quality of their rooms although I can't
speak to that personally

This is the worst Marriott ever in terms of service! We have stayed at Marriotts all over the world and have titanium elite status but have not experienced this terrible a service ever! They charge us resort fee but none of the resort facilities are operational because it s off season apparently. The food takes for ever to arrive. We requested for 2 bottles of water to be delivered to the room, and it took them an hour to deliver that. We had to call thrice and their excuse was it s a long walk to the room. Really!! The quality of food was terrible too. Extremely disappointed with this resort.

Price Gouging at its Finest.. I would like to know why it is legal to charge someone for services they do not get! Imagine going into a department store and buying a shirt and being also charged for a pair of pants. Yo say, "But I did not get any pants,." They say well, we charge for pants whether you get any or not because we also have pants in the store."
Marriott, but I did not use your Resort for services, I had a business meeting and we did not use surfboards. Well, we charge you for the surfboard anyway.

The the location and view absolutely amazing. The welcoming and friendly staff definitely make it a five-star my book. The conference center is great and they comfortable Bar and Lounge with plenty of outdoor seating.

I live in the area but was here for a conference recently. So while I can't comment on the rooms or the amenities, I can comment on the staff. Everyone was very polite, caring and helpful.

Situated above Dana Point Harbor, it is a short and enjoyable walk down to numerous restaurants and other activities in the harbor.

Great location, views, and facilities. Two pools to choose from. One had some water play areas that the kids enjoyed. Staff were friendly and attentive. Rooms were nice, but the beds were a little firm. The only complaint I really have is with the parking situation. It's valet only ($37 a night), which, while is expensive, is fine. However, when you're arriving or leaving the hotel when a large event (wedding, etc.) is starting or ending, the valet gets really backed up, and you end up having to wait a while for your car.

Overall good location, good valet service but the food was horrible.

If you want a rock hard cookie that tastes like cardboard pay 5 bucks for two, or for a better deal you could get a whole pack of chips ahoy chocolate chip cookies that will cost less and taste better.

Also there were kids at the adult pool

Elegant hotel that sits atop a cliff overlooking a beautiful park, Dana Point Harbor, and the Pacific. From the moment we arrived, the staff was extremely helpful, friendly, and accommodating. Absolutely amazing sunsets are included free of charge!

The location and grounds are beautiful, but the service and room were quite poor. Not only was the experience sub par (see below for details), but the hotel's response to my feedback below was largely cold and indifferent. I would not recommend staying here.

My experience:
"The location, grounds, and outside building were beautiful. We especially liked the pools and surfboard and bike rentals.

However, overall, our experience was significantly compromised for these reasons:

I) Room not available on time. We called ahead in the morning and were told that we could check in at 3pm, an hour early. However, when we arrived at 3:15, our room was not ready. The front desk told us we could use the pool while we waited for the room to be cleaned. We were not contacted until 4:15 to check in, an hour and 15 minutes after our requested time.

II) No bill and price higher than quoted. I did not receive a bill by email. In addition, my credit card was initially charged $40 more than I expected.

III) Room cleaned before check out. We left the room for a bit on the morning of check out, and came back to find that someone was cleaning our room around 10, during the time we had hoped to shower and pack up our belongings before checking out at 11. We had to wait in the hallway for several minutes before we could enter the room.

IV) Beds & room uncomfortable. Beds seemed smaller than queen size. The A/C didn't work well. We turned it as low as it would go, and the room still felt warm. No option to leave the fan on all night for white noise. We did not sleep well either night. In addition, the room had a strong smell to it, similar to a smoke smell.

V) No fridge. The room had no refrigerator.

VI) Multiple keys & keys not functioning. We received multiple key cards, two for room and two for pool access. Not only was it an annoyance to shuffle between keys, but also difficult to tell the keys apart. The pool access keys also did not work, so we had to rely on others to open the door for us.

Overall, service and comfort were well below our experiences staying at other Marriott hotels."

Ok

Great view and patio

Great view and patio
Location is like a postcard and supported by an attentive staff and good food. A must see in SoCal

Stayed here multiple times for corporate events over the past few years. Some of the property and rooms are a bit dated but it is more than made up for by the quality of staff, views, and food and bar service.

I expect more for the price.

I expect more for the price.
Location have amazing views but is not on the beach and is on the high of a hill with a nice park but be careful with the kids is so high. If you are in good condition will be ok otherwise prepare to walk or take the trolley.
The rooms full beds no queen? And the laminated floor make the metal frame move from the mattress every time you turn around. I don't recommend the room in front of the pool if you want privacy or you will watch people in front of the glass door, the bathroom with walking shower the water is coming out to the floor make you need to used more towels to dry it and doesn't have air extractor, but have nice tv with option of some apps like Netflix.
We expect a family restaurant but there is only a kind of bar only in the mornings they have the breakfast time with lot of options, no snacked or drinks machines arount so prepare yourself with lot of snacks and drinks specially if you go with kids, there is a small shop at the hotel but close at 10pm.
Employees have a nice customer service, specially in the pool area, wich is entertaining for kids and nice idea of the craft room and movie time, we expect to see the bonfire at night but we not found it.
Overall the experience was ok but not impressed.

Clean and beautiful facility and amazing landscape except too many walk. I have a vacation with my two little naughty. unfortunately, my room was the end of the wing which is too far from the elevator. During the stay a night, I felt I walked 10 miles...OMG!!!
Also the staffs gave me a wrong informations, which is make me a confusion. When I checking-in, the front desk staff told the valet will be charged $27 per night but it is $37 on the receipt. Also other staff told the breakfast buffet is $5 per person, guess what how much is it?? It is $25 per person. I was disappointed blame myself, like "Am I misunderstood"
Otherwise, their is beautiful and large swimming pool, it just like small water park. all the staffs are nice and provided best service.
My favorite part is movie night with pop corns and candy.
