This is a great place to visit although make sure you ask the ticket agent what areas require special tickets, they don't exactly tell you after waiting in line as to where you can and where you can't go. They have many different buildings so make sure to go early to see everything. I'd say at least 2 hours min. Be sure to check out the big giant rock out back before sundown, you can't go see it after dark. But the security guard is always happy to tell you about it and to talk about culture. They also have a couple wonderful restaurants and cafes there too which have awesome food and outdoor seating in their mezzanine. There is also in the very very far side a building entirely dedicated to Japanese art so be sure to check that out too, it's pretty small though we walked through it in about 20 mins.
