Outstanding art lovely building next to La Brea Tar Pits
This was one of the "must sees" I was told I had to go to. When I arrived I was so overwhelmed by the massiveness of it's size and how overcrowded it was. The line to purchase tickets was too congested and you would need an entire day to check everything out. The only thing I really wants to see was the Rain Room exhibit and I was told it was sold out, and if their was any chance of getting in I would have to wait in the huge line to potentially get to the front and find it was still sold out. You also couldn't purchase the rain room tickets online so that was very frustrating. There were several cool free things to look at, so we checked out the famous map posts and the levitating rock which were neat and then we left. I would recommend if you're interested in touring the entire museum for a day and you're not particular about just seeing one specific thing.
If you are visiting, you should go and meet him. The museum is extensive and has many activities to do and very nice and pleasant tours. It lets you take pictures of different places, if you go as a family in excellent for children and if you go as a couple the display of the lamps at the exit is super romantic at night or for a fun photo among friends.
Very nice place to go on a weekend, walk-around, have some food and go to the exhibitions
tons to see, need 2 days to view everything without rushing
I liked it!, but one thing ruined the ride. Most of the people in there are very rude. A worker there had yelled at me for no reason whatsoever. I was "touching the art" FROM 3 FEET AWAY. I honestly found it very disrespectful. But overall, its nice, greatgift shop too.
Great place full of activities and cool stuff to do.
The place is amazing, 5 hours and did not finish half of it
Nice square to have these light poles positioned in this way give a fantastic optical effect. Alongside this square there is a beautiful park and a museum.
Honestly I wasn t very impressed with the museum, I preferred the intimacy and exhibit set up of the Getty or Getty Villa, I found the lacma almost too much to take in at once. The food and drink are pricey.
I recommend just visiting the lamp exhibit. This was the most fun part for us and we loved the pictures we got, but this is on the outside of the medium and you don t even need to pay to go in.
If you have kids, I would skip this museum and head over to the Peterson automobile museum down the street. Or the Getty or Getty Villa if you want to expose your kids to the arts in a much friendlier Family setting.
One of the best arts museums on the west coast. If you are visiting LA it's worth spending at least a few hours here.
My favorite place in the city! I can spend an entire day at LACMA and still feel sad when I leave. This museum is a treasure and should be visited by all Angelinos (just not on the days I go).
a very nice place to visit on Friday for a free jazz in summer
Great museum, lots of interesting art, and good special exhibts
This place was kind of a let down for me. I expected to see a lot of nice art but what excited me the most was the art exhibits outdoors! Shouldn't have paid to enter since the Urban Lights and floating rock was much more interesting for me.
Loved the sights and all the art it had to offer. Great place to see for sure!
Looking forward to seeing the museum when the new buildings are done.
LACMA is a unique museum at a class of its own. A cool spot to sight see and probably take some Instagram backdrops. You can easily spend a whole day and it's a fun place for the entire family.
Remember to leave your backpack at home as they don't allow wearing backpack on your back, since you might bump into the art pieces. If you still have a backpack be advised that you can only wear them on your front.
A very nice place with beautiful gardens, good relaxed atmosphere and good works of art.
It is too bad that some buildings could not be entered because it is under construction.
One of the best museums in the USA, he certainly is far from MET, but the collection is excellent, you can disappear for half a day at least. Interesting exhibitions are constantly going on, there are halls of contemporary art. Pictures of Picasso, Monet, Hohenp, etc., Roden and others. In a word, I highly recommend one of the must-see places in LA
Nice place! it's good for the family..very educational, we really had fun!
I love it here. There is so much to see and do. The Urban Light is beautiful in the daytime and night. I love the big rock in the back. Just so much to see in such a close distance. It is a truly magical place. I go there often with the family and always have a good time. Until next time.
I did not go inside of the museum, but it is very nice place to take pretty pictures. Night time, you can still go to the LACMA and have fun time with your friends.
honestly if you had to choose between the Broad Art Museum and LACMA..I would choose the Broad Art Museum.
Great collection from around the world, and through some very popular history.
Awsome place. Just awsome. Thanks to mr. Peterson. RIP
The venue is huge~ I think it s hard to go shopping in a day
The Hockney exhbition was great with a lot of context around the artist. Truly enjoyed spending time at LACMA
Fun place. The lights are amazing. Lots of people were taking photos, but everyone was real nice & respectful of each other. My daughter was proposed to there recently!
This is one of my favorite spots in LA for photos. Something about the Urban Lights always draws me to it. They re just absolutely beautiful. It s free to view them but the museum itself is only free on certain days and time. I ve never actually taken the time to go inside the museum, to be honest though. I ve only come for the lights. If you re here to do the same thing, my advice would be to come at 7pm when the parking is half price and the lights are about to turn on within the hour. It s the perfect lighting too. Before they turn on is when your crowd is the lowest but once they turn on, you have about 5-10 minutes before the place gets swarmed with people trying to do the same thing as you. So time your visit right and snap fast to get a photo with minimal people in the background, otherwise you might have to play a strategic game of blocking people with your body and poses, as well as angling the lights just right.
First time actually entering LACMA and I enjoyed it! The staff were all pleasant and the exhibits were very interesting. Would love to go back again.
LACMA has a wonderful collection of all kinds of art and I always have a lovely time when I go. Most of the exhibits are included with the entry fee but there are also special exhibits you need to pay a little extra to access. There is plenty of parking structures all around with all of them about the same price. I suggest tuck in your pride and just pay for parking because street parking is so confusing over there. Don t forget to take your obligatory selfie in front of the lampposts!
Great place to visit. If you go to school in LA county you can go in free.
Open free to the public, a must see for art lovers. Viewed live for the first time my first Warhol, Picasso, and Matisse. Incredible. Well staffed.
When we went to the museum, almost half of the exhibition areas were closed and we felt a little cheated. Although the young lady warned us when to buy the tickets. There was an exhibit about Sri Lankan history and pieces that paid off.
Great works of art both new and old. Learn about our past in a wide variety of ways.
There is a rebellion of Rene Magritte's image (this is not a pipe).
I see something confusing after seeing the picture ...
Various works of artists are exhibited and there are many modern works.
For reference, the museum is very spacious. It is a good idea to have enough rest.
I do not recommend it is well romanticized with luck and when they go find a famous rapper and taking pictures and recording videos
The Lacma is okay, But prices are too high, for both students/public.
Although it is a paid museum, the content is definitely worth the price
Such a great space. Are so many exhibits to explore and the staff was very helpful. Beautiful pieces all around. There was also live jazz when I visited, so great.
It was a rich, fascinating, and deepening experience. Food for the soul.
There is quite a lot of installation art here, although the shots are pretty beautiful.
It's perfect to stop here and take photos with these artworks.
The atmosphere is completely different during the day and at night, and there are many people here. You can choose some time to avoid crowd
I would have enjoyed my time much more if the security staff wasn t so rude. My entire experience was ruined.
Edgy? Artsy? I'm sorry some of that " art" is garbage. The classics are spectacular! When you realize what they had to work with and what was created nothing short of unbelievable....
Awesome modern art museum as much for the exhibitions as for the building architecture
I love that you can come, park on a side street for free for 2 hours and walk around the Tar Pits and museum and still feel like you've gotten a great experience. But it is also definitely worth going in. Always have great exhibits. Highly recommend. Also a great stop if you are on a road trip and just need a break from traffic. Just a little out of the way but a great break for kids to run around (there are free bathrooms outside).
Great architecture and the Rain Room is a must. Bonus: La Brea Tar Pits.
Excellent for child and adults who are interested in arts
Pablo, O'Keefe, Monderain...exceptional art, exceptional venue....
Lots of cool art by artists like Picasso, Kienholz, etc. Extremely large place full of amazing art. The cover fee was $25 and there was no military discount. Only one for students, LA residents, and Chase members (?). Not sure about the Chase members one, but the guy at the front desk asked if I was holding one in my hand. I think he was trying to help me out.
Outstanding exhibit on Teotihuacan with bilingual didactics.
Awesome seeing the tar pits. I would recommend when going to see the light museum expect alot of tourist when trying to take a picture
Half the museum was closed for renovations and private events, and though they told us the exhibits that were closed, it didn't say that several floors of buildings were closed. And charged full price.
I also take photos with a DSLR and I am very aware of signs indicating picture restrictions. They had no signage of what was the private exhibit, and it seemed to be the whole floor as I was followed the whole time.
The exhibits that we did see, like the Charles White exhibit, were incredible.
$25 to see 1/4 of the exhibits, cause everything is closed for refreshment. AND $16 for parking was truly the biggest rip-off. It will be a LONG time before I think of going here again.
