Really cool museum. The art museum is kind of meh, but the tar pits are pretty neat. Its about 10 bucks a museum and they usually have small events and tents there. Pretty easy thing to do in an afternoon

This is one of the best places on earth, no joke. It holds it own against the Art Institute of Chicago and by no means is completely outclassed by the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I used to live nearby; I miss their changing exhibits and amazing regular collection.

It has amazing history and view; I just think the price is a little much, you pay for parking $16, and museum entrance fee is $25. I think that s a bit much; but we drove to see and visit it; so we paid! You if you are willing to pay then definitely must go place!!!!

I am absolutely furious at this museum. My daughter and I attended today. A significant number of the exhibits were closed for one reason or another. However, the ticket prices were the same. Other attendees were similarly disappointed.

Needed to ask where to find exhibits, even though we had a map. Was disappointed that gift shops had so little to sell regarding Chagall exhibit. Be prepared to pay $16 to park. Gift shops were incredibly extensive.

Beautiful place to see attached and listen to music in the park. If you're in Los Angeles this is a must see. Music in the park and amazing piece of original art. Take a picnic and a bottle of your favorite wine.

Between the special events like the demonstration of original props and personal items in Stanley Kubrick's one-off showcase, and the rooms full of pieces collected over time that are organized by world location origin, this museum has everything you could probably ask for, unless you are the snobbiest of snobs.

You can easily spent 4-7 hours in this place, and not see everything. Then you can come back in 3-6 months and see more work that has been rotated into stock.

Expand your mind here.

I can't recommend this place highly enough.

LACMA is huge enough to fill a week with photo opportunities such as the light posts and suspended boulder, as well as a variety of artistic styles for everyone in the family, excluding small children.

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this iconic landmark. We came during the free for all weekend and had a great time. The tar pits were free as well and we gained quite a bit of knowledge during the day of our visit. A bit overcrowded but I imagine there were other tourists and locals all converging for the free for all weekend. Staff were polite and knowledgeable about the exhibits and the buildings themselves so people like myself wouldn't get lost or go the wrong way.

Great museum, architecture and exhibitions. Some of the staff inside the gallery were a little rude regarding photos of the art (accused us of taking photos when we weren t) however that was a minor part of the experience

I love this place, they have a considerate discount for people in the L.A. county and people under the age of 18 can come for free (I think they need to come with an adult I'm not sure.) Breath taking art, they're constantly having new exhibitions. They have a cute little gift shop and other shops where you can buy food. And of course they have their iconic, and trade mark, Urban Lights display open to the public. They also have a park behind it, it's very peaceful.

Since I do not like all types of art, I found some buildings boring but that's just me. All buildings and grounds were clean and organized. It was a little crowded but expected on a holiday. My wife and daughters really enjoyed our afternoon there. We hand lunch, that we brought on the green lawn in the center of the museum grounds. The La Brea tar pits are outside the museum on the same property.

They are closing some of the most important exhibitions including 3rd and 4th floor of ahrmenson building(European art, etc) and hammer museum(Iranian, Egyption art), American art building, which are huge chunks of their attractions without proper head warning, they simply would say "some exhibitions are closed due to a construction". the construction apparently last for next 4 years. The ticket price is same expensive 25$(20$ per LA residents). I demanded refund but didn't work, so for the time being this wonderful museum which once had been a pride of LA is momentarily a scam hole.

Many closed rooms for works including the Japanese pavilion and the Korean pavilion and only the 1st floor of the central museum opened with photo ban on most of the exhibition.
So if you go through L.A., before you buy your tickets, get informed.

With their main exhibition under construction, it was pretty disappointing. All the art is based on repeating an item. A rug made it of cigarettes, rope made it of hair, boiled down coca cola. It's all excessive and meaningless.
