I absolutely Love Jessie Taylor Seafood, I get seafood about once a week lol but anyway they have the best prices! I'm getting some today to! If you live in the city and never had crabs from them you are missing out BIG TIME!!

I have been going to Jessie Taylors for over 25 years. My family would go to them for years since I was a little girl. Sad to say after today I will not be coming back. They are ripping people off now. I don't know if they have new management or what. They are weighing the half bushel crabs in milk crates on scales. They said they weigh them now. It does not add up to a half bushel. I left with 2 dozen and the half bushel was $70. My crabs were not even filling the box halfway. I called the manager Ryan. He said half bushel is 4 dozen and he would fix the order and to come see him. When I get there he acts clueless as if he didn't tell me any of that like he forgot our conversation completely. Tries to sell me the half bushel at a discounted price and charge me for it. Only offers to give me 1 dozen. I will never come back ever again. My family won't either and another patron today said the same thing. If you know crabs then you know what's in a half a bushel and that it's not weighed. It goes by dozen. Its 12 crabs in a dozen.

It's super delicious but very busy. Be prepared to wait for in a long line.

While the open air market and fresh seafood were lovely, I visited while traveling for work and was significantly over charged and have not been able to get corrected. ($70 for a 1/4 lb of shrimp!??!) While it was absolutely my responsibility to check the charge before signing - I would encourage anyone else to learn from my mistake and ensure you aren t overcharged as well.

District's most popular location for fresh seafood, particularly crabs, steamed while you wait. Be prepared for long lines on weekends.

I am from Maryland but now live in N.C. the first time brought some crabs. Took them back to N.C. and we had a happy time. We all enjoyed them. Service was excellent, so now when I come to D.C. I have orders to stop and get some. Thank

There are 2 main seafood places at the wharf -- Jessie Taylor and Captain Whites -- with a few small shops tucked in along the walls as well. Both places generally offer similar prices -- the only reason I honestly chose Jessie Taylor was due to their cordial attitudes.

I procured 1.5 bushels of mixed steamed/seasoned blue crabs. The price was right (dc standards) and they gave me a deal for going with unsorted. The bushels were filled but not overstuffed so no free rides. The crabs were well enjoyed and fresh. I was able to put in the order and pick up the same day. On average prices for med sized crabs went for ~125 per bushel -- I received my mixed bushel for a deal at 137 (your mileage may vary)

Seafood is seafood when it comes to the fish market at the wharf -- however Jessie Taylor was able to set themselves apart by being both helpful and nice.

Always lovely and honest customer service for over 35 years but one thing I would like to change is the workers receiving tip through the receipt at transactions, as we travel cash is not always available and the card will make it easy and safe.

I ate the whole batch! These crabs are amazingly inexpensive and are a classic! Loaded with Old Bay, sit by the river and crack into some Maryland delight

DO NOT GET CRABS FROM THIS PLACE!!! We purchased a bushel and they were NOT fresh. The lungs were very grey and they were cold. We picked them up and immediately brought them for a crab feast. I have been eating crabs all my life and these crabs appeared to be several days old. Very little Old Bay on them and hardly any meat in most of them. We ordered large and they were small. This place is a HUGE rip-off. I wouldn't even give them a star. I will be sure to spread the word and will NEVER get crabs from them again. For as much money as they cost, this place is robbing people blind. I am going to find out how to report them and from reading from many of the reviews, they seem to do this all the time. I am just sorry I didn't read the reviews before my purchase.

Got a dozen large fresh steamed males and 4 lbs North Carolina shrimp, peeled and deveined. Everything was great! Crabs were meaty and tasty and shrimp were firm and flavorful.

Love the crabs! And most especially the workers were so friendly and kind!!

Today I went to Jessie Taylor's and purchased a half bushel of male crabs. I made it specifically clear that the woman I'm with requested that ALL of the legs and claws had to be on the crabs. The gentleman promised and assured so. Once I got the goods to the house, there were only a few with just ONE claw. I knew something was fishy when he was putting the crabs in the box at lightning speed. DON'T BUY FROM THE CROOKS AT JESSIE TAYLOR!!!!

Lovely place! Been going here for years! I was given a free sample of clam because I have never had it raw. The clam raw was amazing in its own right. I cannot compare it to oysters. Although, the clam was a bit briny and the meat was very thick. I was unable to swallow the clam I had to chew a bit. The fishmongers are very knowledgeable and friendly. They engage in conversation and are open to questions. They have many fish so questions arise when it comes to cooking them.

The fish here are very fresh and I am assuming others are not. I got some Basa Swai fish. One fillet was fresh. The other was very fishy smelling. I'm assuming it was going bad. I was going to eat one fish but ended up cooking both. It tasted just fine after it was cooked. Whether it was safe to eat, I am not so sure.

I ordered scallops as well. They are very large and plump. It is much cheaper to purchase scallops here than they are in the grocery store. I understand not everyone has the luxury of coming out here but when you get the chance please do.

Parking is validated at the moment at 2 dollars. This makes the trip here a little easier and worth while. You can park under the newly constructed buildings. The garage is rather large. You can drive through parts of the Wharf. It reminds me of Italy a bit.

Crabs have not been as good as they use to for about a year now. Hardly no meat large are about the same size as the smalls . This use to be my go to seafood place now I travel way out Virginia. Tighten up DC

Everything is fresh everyone is polite and friendly and it gives me a chance to haggle like my grandfather used to do when he took me there

The Fish Market here is really cool. If you want fresh fish and seafood I can't think of a better place in the area. I ordered 2 bushels of #1 steamed blue crabs and they were ready when I got there. The price was much cheaper than any vendors in Southern Maryland. My only complaints are that a fair amount of the crabs were kind of crushed with broken shells and they were a bit smaller than what I would consider #1s. With that said, it seems like every crab place tends to do that these days.

I have been going to Jesse Taylor s for years which made me a loyal customer. I travel from Va and pass plenty other crab places but I still continue to go there. Even know a few of the workers by name as they would know mine with my face. I went this pass Saturday and got 2 1/2 dozen of extra large males never known them to ever be that cheap $35 a dozen so of course I got them. I went to Stan and again been going for years, to go all the way home and was totally disappointed to have opened several of the crabs to find them VERY light and a smell so the meat was soft and mushy. So what would anyone do who spent money on something ? you call to the place. I asked to speak to Stan and he came to the phone I Identified myself told him what had happened. And to my surprise he was telling me that he picked me out good crabs and I didn t know what I was talking about. Then he proceeds to tell me if I see him there don t come back and hung up the phone. I was in shock. I called back and spoke the the manager on duty which said basically the same thing but he said what do you want me to do? The crabs aren t empty they have some meat in them so enjoy what you have and we ll take care of you next time. REALLY!!! there won t be a next time. I understand that s what they do for a living (Pick Crabs )but you can t see what s inside of them until you open them. So for him to tell me and for the manager on duty tell me that they were good without seeing them on the inside. They lost a frequent paying customer Especially If that s the way your loyal customers are treated. I will be going else where. Clarence I hope you put some of your men though customer service classes. With the new development of the Wharf and the money that people spend to live and eat there. Who wants to deal with Nasty Attitudes.

Jumbo crabs (hardly) $85/dz received 11 only 2 over 6".

Really disappointed after planning my day around having crabs with Family. $85/dz and shorted a crab plus almost all under Jumbo size (6-6.5") see pictures. When I arrived they had just put in new crabs and the guy intentionally pulled crabs up from the bottom which turned out too small. I feel ripped off and that Jesse Taylor staff made the highlight of the day my low point. Won't go back and suggest you stay away....I GOT RIPPED OFF!

Just went last week and paid for a half of bushel and they weighed there crabs....they must think somebody is stupid...they are robbing people crabs are sold by dozen how can u charge somebody and weigh the crabs so u are paying for crabs that's in the crate thats plastic and heavy plus the crab shells,i have been going for over 20 yrs, what kind of people do crazy stuff like this...i calles talked to the manager he told me he sorry and come back up here ask for Ryan or Robert he will make them over ,well i return back to Jessie's and ask for that manager he tried to charge me for another half bushel & said i will make it better...why would i pay twice & u weighing them again...im never going back & i anyways buy a half bushel or more Bad Business...i drive to far to be treated like this.Weighing urw crabs..

Small and dead crabs in the boxes 90% without claws, buyer beware. I will not by pre-cooked crabs from them again.

The fish cleaning is now "free" but you pay for it with your time. Only one guy is cleaning for dozens of customers. Please bring back the old fish cleaning house, where you could pay for prompt service.

They sold me a rotting Crab, when I went home and opened the bag I can smell the rotten smell, I don t understand how a big place like that and a nice area can do that and get away with it, maybe they think that every one there is a tourist so it is one time and never see them again.
They are really a bad people.

Every time I have to get crabs from here, they are always trash. I got some on Saturday and was posies. Super small and barely alive. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Today i was in a hurry bought a 10 lb box of snow crab. Got home. Discovered bit and pieces. Old stock refrozen thrown in a bag frozen and resold as fresh. Large chunks of ice.
I called to see if i could return and get better but was told . No. But they would be glad to sell me more. Well that was 115$ dow the drain. Jesdies never again. You just lost me a a customer.

Went to the Wharf for the first time today. The guys at Jessie's were super friwndly and went above and beyond to help us! We will be going back on a regular basis!

These people robbed me. I order a dozen of exlarge crabs over the phone. When i got home there was only 4 exlarge crabscthe rest were small. I paid $72 for small crabs. Thats robbery. Check your bag before u leave this place. They are crooks.

I love the people on the cook boat, especially mike with the locks in his hair. He always has the up most respect for all customers.

I asked what's the difference between their crab legs verse others and was told they are all the same, including the price. So I bought a box (5 lbs for 65 dollars). And soon I knew I got ripped off, because it costs $55 at another stand. The person I talked to looked nice and friendly. I am very disappointed. And the quality of the crab is not impressive. Won't go back again.

If you've never been to the warf in the summer, you have to make the trip. Prepare for a heavy seafood smell and more blue crabs than you've ever seen

This past Saturday, i purchased three (3) bushels of LARGE female crabs. However, when we dug in to eat them, there were more extra small, small, and medium crabs than there was large crabs. Also, they steamed them for us but hardly put season on them. We will not go there again.

Outside of parking this place is always a great stop for fresh seafood. Luckily I live in the area,and can walk down to grab a few things

Excellent lobster bisque and hushpuppies, fish and chips are generously portioned but nothing special. Employees are a little rude, but the setup isn't ideal for interaction. Make sure you have everything in the bag before you leave.

Great service. Little bit of a wait of getting seafood cooked but because of the location (The Wharf) the wait isnt so bad.

if you are visiting Washington tidal basin area and you are a seafood liver then i highly recommend you give this place a try. cooked shrimp and crawfish were delightful and very fresh.

The cook over cooked my crabs, making sure the shrimp he put on top was cooked. Asked the owner to fix the issue and he stated, He don t have time for this and gave me a refund instead of fixing the issue. Very Unprofessional!!! Been a customer for years and spend money with them everytime! Definitely didn t appreciate the service and Won t Be Back !!!

Today I went to Jessie's to get a dozen crabs and the person waiting on me was very rude and ignorant. I asked if they had large crabs and I repeated the question because I could not hear him thru his mask. He pointed to the very small crabs. I replied those are not big and he got mad because I asked another question. As i continued to talk to him he walked away being extremely disrespectful. Of course I didn't spend my money at Jessie's since the worker was rude. If you don't mind bad customer service go to Jessie's. If you want to be respected and get good customer service I suggest spend your money elsewhere. There are other seafood sellers at the wharf. I went to Captain White and was treated with respect. The guy who was rude at Jessie's was a very ugly tiny, white dude. Had to describe him so you'll know who he is.

I went to the Wharf today for crabs and shrimp. I went to Jessie's because I didn't want to wait in line at Captain White's, big, big mistake. My crabs and shrimp were over cooked. I wanted to cry. Never again!! I will wait in line, no matter how long it takes, at Captain White's

I m very sorry that you are closed .. I did go on Saturday.. however there were no lines and the persons there were practicing distance .. I m sorry the situation became out of control ..

When I plan becomes available .. I will be returning to support the fisherman .. Excellent seafood..

Polite, food orders always ready on time, customer services is on point and when u walk in the wharf they stand is the only stand that makes sure u acknowledge them

This place has turned into the worst they will lie to you over the telephone and tell you that there crabs are a nice size and when you get there all of the crabs are small and they're trying to sell them to you as medium and large crabs they are such a freaking ripoff don't waste your time going there there's a bunch of junkies working at this place

Order ahead service is better than a long wait for cooking. Big increase on crab prices

Two thumbs up! Great feel of a city seafood market and truly good fresh Chesapeake Bay Seafood. I bought a bushel of #1's and 2 dozen soft shell clams aka manoes. Little pricey but what do you expect for seafood in the heart of the nations capital. It was a great experience and I highly recommend it for locals and visitors.

Stop by, picked up a 1 pound carton of jumbo lump crabmeat carton claimed to be packaged in Maryland - ask employee when it arrived, employee said yesterday. Placed on ice, placed in ice chest, 30 minutes later, open it to eat on ritz crackers under the cherry trees, and it stunk, large amt of brown water poured out of container, wasted $34.00, not worth getting SICK !!

The best seafood place around. You can buy your seafood and have them steam your crabs/shrimp right there while you wait for no additional cost!

Purchased a half bushel of so called large females crabs. At least half mixed in were medium and small. Never will return.

Jessie seafood worst service ever came from out of town we usually go to captain white which had stop cooking cooked crabs for the day so I thought we try Jessie seafood in same complex 155dollar a bushel and it was just alittle over a half bushel very disappointed frist time at jessie's never again I called spoke with andra who was very nice and respectful but she wasn't the manager he was not available frank did not return my call call a second time sent pictures of crabs the frist day we open the basket and still no call back from manager was told there two managers and I have to call another day and wait until it's the manager on turn in order to see if there something they can do for me after third call it's a joke but that's ok I lost out this time but never again Jessies ( captain Whites ) the best always respectful and great service and the crab awesome price too never disappointed right on point go captain whites
