I have been going to Jessie Taylor's for years. However, they no longer seem to care about providing the quality of service or value their customers. It's unfortunate and what will likely happen is they will loose loyal customers and revenue before they get a clue. People drive too far and work too hard for their money to pay for and put up with below grade service.

Absolutely the BEST crabs on Main Ave. The staff is professional, kind and always ready for you when you walk up. They don't rush you nor do they overlook you to get somone elses order. Give Jessie Seafood a try when you are ready for your next batch of crabs!! I guarantee you will be pleased!!!

We traveled a ways for these ex large crabs and paid handsomely for 24 crabs $150. These crabs were large and empty, some were mushy inside, and some were even bad. 5/30/2020. DO NOT PATRONIZE THEM!!!

I give them a negative star for taking my money. They sold me some dead crabs my kids were in the hospital for food poison. It should be against the law for this. No one should go through this when you worked hard for your money, now you have to use the money to pay hospital bills

Crabs are usually meaty but the batch I got today was small and empty I got a half bushel which they usually fill the box but today the boy was half full. I had to come back and they were very rude. I had to buy more but this time I went to salt water seafood boat. My crabs were big and meaty and my bow was full

Great, fresh selection, and many precooked choices. The crawfish, though, is a bit tough. There's a nice standing bar around the corner with a great view out over the river.

The worst and nasty. I purchase my crabs live and brought to get stem on the other side I swear when I get them back and got home mushy and freaking water down I was hurt I will never come back again. Worst experience I will stay at ivy city tavern and get my money worth the taste and not water down crabs

This place has really went down hill. I will never take my business here anymore. They sold me bad crab legs and when I took them back they said they had two owners and I had to come back nextweek. Went back nextweek only to be told the samething. So im just out of my money.

Went yesterday and got ripped the hell off!!!
Ordered 1/2 bushel Large males paid $60 got home there were exactly 26 crabs in my bag... the Special for large males were

$40 2 Dozen
$60 1/2 Bushel

Called manager, he stated "1/2 bushel goes by the weight (13lbs) sometimes you may only have 21 crabs" so how are you charging people for 1/2 bushel I asked??? No answer... I should have been charged for 2 dozen special $40, THEY STOLE $20 FROM ME UNAPOLOGETICALLY

BUYER BEWARE!!!! Jessie Taylor was once my go to place for good seafood. I've purchased countless bushels of crabs from them, used them for crab feasts, company picnics and recommended them to many. NOT ANYMORE! Not sure what happened, but highly disappointed in them.

Purchased 3 bushels of crabs from them at $125/bushel for an office cookout. Used them in previous years and they were fine, but this year..... crabs were awful. First of all, the size were not the large size ordered, but on top of that the crabs were extremely light. Many so light I could press my thumb right through them. We were so disappointed. Because I was a loyal customer I called them afterwards to 'inform' them of the bad batch that we received. Just as an FYI so that they are aware of what was being given out.

Spoke with several people, including the 'manager', Stan who accused me of trying to get over on them. Never did I ask for any money back. It was just an FYI about the quality of product being sold. He then basically said tough. Just don't come to them anymore. Really?

Unless you personally pick out your crabs........... don't buy from them.

Just bought a dzn of "medium males" it was dirt cheap like 16 dollars. Out of 12 crabs LITERALLY only 3 where edible. The rest where mush. Most seamed like they was dead before being steamed. 16 dollars waisted. I'll go back to Cameron's for now on. There 1's "smalls"are 25$ a Dozen and where the size of Mr. Jessie talyor's xtra larges. Oh and Cameron's are all edible.

I would like to thank Stan for his great customer service he was awesome. I placed a crab and shrimp order without even being there or seeing the crab size for a brushel and half crabs, 5 pound of shrimp. Everything was great the crabs were meaty for this time of the year. I would definitely recommend Jessie Taylor Seafood

This isn't the same kind of Wharf as in SF; this is DC! With that said, it's a bit ghetto if you think that crowded, unorganized lines with patrons who shout due to poor service, ignorant people talking, and people cursing like there is no tomorrow. For those who are used to that kinda scenery, then this isn't ghetto whatsoever, and seems just fine.

The line for this place is long! You will be waiting for a good 41 minutes to an hour to order, and roughly about 6 to 12 minutes depending on the order. At least there is a trade-off there. Sweet Ice/Lemonade mix is the bomb! If you're craving for clam chowder, make sure you get there early enough as they tend to run out from time to time, ie don't be on colored people time (applies to Indian, Chinese, Nigerian, Salvadorians, etc.). There is no sitting area here, so just walk up towards the hills across the road for a sitting place, or sit on the rails on the boardwalk if you got the stones. As always, come here during odd hours to avoid waiting an hour, or have something to watch on your smartphone.

I went there once and have not been able to stay away. Great fresh seafood with the most friendly staff you could ever meet! Prices are great too!

If you want sand in your crabs this is the place. Gave this place a chance more than once and always get sand stuck in my teeth

The service when ordering the live crabs was old-school great! Loved the location!!!
The venue included the waterfront, lots of places to eat - mostly outdoors, but with options to dine indoors, and an outdoor bar right on the pier! Also attractions... water taxis, a theatre featuring plays, orchestras, etc, and 4-star hotel -- right along the pier!
Great experience overall!!! We rode the water taxi. Loved it!!!! Plan to visit the theatre too.

The size of the crabs were great but the steaming process was too much. If I lived in the area I would purchase crabs but cook them myself.

You can't beat the prices here and they cook for you, just be kind and leave some type of gratuity!

You can find fresh fish but need to check eyes and flesh.

always the best prices for the best crabs. Staff is super friendly, especially Pop Pop back at the steamer who always thinks 15 crabs = 12 for me. Tip him!

The service was horrible all the 3 times I visited, and you get different prices talking to different employees. That's why i only shop at Captain White.

These people are thieves. Sell u one thing and give u another. I will never return. Captain whites is better with fresher food anyway.

I wasn't impressed with the combo, I should had known better. $19.99 for the combo that included a crab cake, that consist of claw meat with shells. The rest of the choices in the combo wasn't so bad. But don't expect a crab cake with all crab meat. Really, what was I expecting? A real crab cake without claw meat. They should just sell the combo without the crab cake and drop the price. ( My sister said, that's the catch of the day).

I don't know what all the fuss is about I love this place. Cheap exotic seafood of all kinds. Compared to what you can get in the Gulf, this is pescatarian heaven y'all!

Best place to get Blue Crabs and fresh fish at good prices.

We came across this place a couple of years back and we are so glad we did. Overall it s a great place to get your seafood needs. We loved the fact we could have everything boiled there instead of doing it at home and the prices are very reasonable. The lines & parking can be a tad crazy depending on the time of day and which day of the week it is but it s worth it in our opinion.

Staff are really nice. The seafood is fresh and well maintainrd. The steam lines are silly crazy with only one guy doing the steamers...they should have all of them going.

Excellent place for seafood, fresh. We had them steam our crabs as well. Fantastic. They made it easy to transport as well.

They have loss a loyal customer. I would visit at minimum 3-4 times a week. I ordered a bushel of medium and large males. This is what I get . I go down the next day and the customer service was horrible. They literally acted as if I wasn t there.

One guy even told me, well sometimes we make bad decisions as to say I saw the crabs when I made the purchase. They would not acknowledge the fact the crabs are smallllll nor did the manager care to do anything to rectify the situation.

I took my business to Captain Whites where the crabs are way better. You would think a customer spending almost a grand a week would at least get acknowledged. They will never get another penny from me. Disgusted with the lack of customer service more than anything.

This place is a joke. There s no regulation. The workers tell the owner what they will and won t do. The crabs are great if their all alive. Not only did i have some dead crabs in my dozen but the guy who cleans the fish tells you your fish is too small to clean. If you offer fish cleaning than size shouldn t matter. I ve been to plenty of fish markets and never have a person tell me the fish is too small to clean. If I m paying for it, it shouldn t matter. That s what you do, right? Clean fish? Waited over 1hr to be told the fish is too small. Then the big tall fella tells me they just don t wanna do it with a attitude. Owners don t do anything to rectify they issues just pretend nothings going on because again the workers run it.

Love it love it that's all I can say prices are reasonable

One black old man who works here was so rude to the customer (or maybe he just discriminated against Asian). I just wanted to ask for the price of the oyster because the shop didn't put on the price side for that (while all the shops around did). He made me embarrassed by saying out loud that I tried to cut the line, while everyone else understand that you don't have to get in line for looking and asking unless you decide to order, especially at a casual place like the fish market.
I lost nothing but the shop lost a customer and gained a bad review. To the old man: when you're getting older, learn how to act properly so young people can respect you. Also, stop judging people when you're not perfect, and stop discriminate!!!

To those who haven't been out during the Pandemic. They are not making customers aware that they are not cooking the crabs when you call in for pricing.

I purchased a small box of steamed crabs... I got the home and most of them were bad, light, mushy and smelled... I will never buy steamed crabs from them again... it was a 2 hour drive for nothing but disappointment..

Reasonable price. I bought crab and tiger shrimp, steamed them there and ate them at the hostel, but they tasted good and the quality was good. However, there is only one person in the place where the crab is served, so it is a fault.

I was told this was the place to go to for cooked crabs. They gave me a half of a bushel of seasonless cooked crabs with a season packet in the box. The crabs were horrible. It spoiled my cookout. I do not recommend.

I won't go there again. I called to ask about buying steamed crabs. I had never been there before and the man was very friendly and offered a half bushel of Xtra Large crabs (around 3-4 dozen he told me) for $100. Sounded good so I placed the order. I got them home and the crabs were good. However, I felt ripped-off because there was NO WAY they were Xtra Large. At best, they were Medium, and some were very small. I not go there again because of the dishonesty. There are other fish stores nearby and next time, I'll go there and order in person. Had they given me what I was told, I would have gone there for ever. It's sad to me that some business are so short-sited on day-to-day revenue rather than building customer loyalty. In the end, they lose out because there are so many other places to go. See ya'.

I love this place got some great crab legs and shrimp steamed up make sure you bring cash you can get better deals also of your going pay 2 dollars for the parking garage saves you the hassle of finding parking and walking a Perry good distance

Bought crabs today, and they must have been steamed hours before my purchase. No refrigeration and the crabs were spoiled and smelled like the were left over from the day before. Where is the health department in DC. Someone's going to die from these unsafe practices.
Never again.

Crabs and Lobster in a large selection. One of several providers in the field. A little friendlier would be nice.

I usually would make this my place of choice on the Wharf before the pandemic, but this place was not obeying the masks ordinance and this will have the next COVID-19 hot spot. I saw cooks in the back with masks under their chins, cashiers with masks below their noses, and the manager moved her mask to talk to me while she WAS MAKING MY ORDER. I wanted to support small business but I don't want to die. Really disgusting and the woman had an attitude when I told her to put her mask on in the middle of a PANDEMIC. Truly disgusting.
