HORRIBLE STAFF IN RESTAURANT

HORRIBLE STAFF IN RESTAURANT

Absolutely fantastic staff in the wine tasting area but
be prepared to be completely disappointed with the lack of care and dismissiveness from the wait staff in the restaurant. I suggest further training in customer relations Penfolds! Utterly disgusted with the manner in which we were not greeted but pointed to for seating.

Super recommended Heritage Tour and Taste for $ 25 per person (booking on their website). Visit the local historians and then follow excellent wine tasting by their whites and reds with their typical shiraz ... really passionate and kind guide (Joseph) ... +++

Awesome place to visit.... get understanding of all their wines and how there produced. Highly recommended if your swinging through the Barossa.

Very commercialised winery... lost it s old traditions of a winery cellar but the service and wine was what you would expect. Great staff, great food and awesome food with wine to boot!! Well worth popping in for a taste

Just on the outskirt of Adelaide CBD, the beautiful vineyards of this winery stretch. The seller doors are very artistic and very beautiful. Most of the wines taste very good. The cafe is a great place for a lunch. It has great views overlooking the vineyard and the city. They have also a very upscale restaurant for dinner. It is great destination for wedding and other events.

This was our first time visiting Adelaide and the Barossa and we ended our stay enjoying a wonderful tour and wine tasking experience at Penfolds Magill Estate. We joined Eugene after lunch for the cellar tour Which included wine tasting. He was an exceptionally knowledgeable, engaging guide and host and we appreciate the friendly way he led us through the history sharing the Penfold s Story - we gained much valued knowledge and rate the whole experience as very memorable. The wines are truly remarkable but the personal and engaging approach of the staff (Eugene In particular) made it even more special.

Penfolds is very well known however this place was very average. I came with a big group is 14 and communication of booking it was very slow. Some dishes were amazing and some were underwhelming. Service was very slow when we ordered coffees. I most likely would not be visiting again. That being said, it is quite gram worthy and very close to the city instead of driving to Barossa or Adelaide Hills.

Our group of 7, adults ranging between 35-70 agreed we were treated unfairly and judged upon the colour of our skin. It was blatantly obvious. We arrived with smiles and laughter, paid for meals and wine tasting, only to have left sickened and racially discriminated.

Just enjoyed the Ultimate Penfolds Experience with Kieran as our guide. He was personable, very knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about our overall experience. It was very nice seeing the Grange Cottage, the cellars and the entire property was beautiful. The wine tasting was very in-depth and each wine was explained thoroughly. Kieran was very easy to converse with and you could sense the passion he has for his job. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Penfolds.

Really enjoyed the wine tasting, the customer service was lovely and even changed the tasting menu a little to suit our wine preferences. The wine tasting is reasonable priced and free with a purchase. Had the flight of cheese at the cafe, expensive but a lovely treat.

What a gorgeous tasting room and original vineyard. I have not been to a vineyard dating back to the origins of the wonderful city of Adelaide. Our host, Joe, was a great and informative tour guide. We truly enjoyed our experience with this tour. Do yourself a favor, and take the Ultimate Penfolds tour, which includes a taste of the famed Grange vintage. So much history and so fulfilling.

Very commercialized, the guide on the tour wasn t very factual and didn t recommend any other wineries in the area. We got more information reading the back of the bottle of wine, than from the actual tour guide. Also, our tour group was way too large and not personalized.

Excellent wine selection. You can go for the tour for $20 and the wine tasting is included. However you can do without the tour as well. You can google and get the knowledge on the Internet about the history of Penfolds and about wine creation.

Over priced brand aim at a high end market. Staff were excellent and super professional. Would prefer many other wineries for their smaller family run businesses that aren't as corporate.

This place was spectacular! We had a private corporate function/dinner here, and it was such a memorable experience. We did the tour down into the tunnel system and got the history spill on it all, it was just such an interesting event. Our guide was a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic young chap, that really added to the whole experience.

Premier wine of Australia. This place is really worth a visit. The Heritage tour is really worth doing. They explain the history of the winery and take you through the now-converted cellars for a very memorable experience. You end your tour with a wine tasting which is the star of the show. I recommend visiting here.

Our tourist guid Sam is very knowledgeable and professional! thanks Sam for giving us such a nice trip! it's amazing getting to visit the little cottage of the legendary Penfolds family.. after the cottage, we get to visit the very beautiful and historical wine cellar, followed by wine tasting with some cheese and fruit.. the wines are great! I will come again for the wine pairing lunch or dinner!!

A very luxurious experience, spectacular view. You can just order a cup of coffee (very awesome coffee), sit outside and enjoy the view of the winery. Breakfast and Lunch is perfect as well. Also if you wish to purchase Penfold Wines, the cellar door is just beside. Very Recommended place to visit and try.

We did the tour at 3pm. It was on time and the tour was fun and we learned a lot but it was only 30min not 1hr due to private function in the cellar. Overall easy access either by car or taxi, the only winery near town. Small but historical. Staff are attentive and friendly, however the restaurant side are less so.

A lovely way to end our trip in Adelaide. From the moment you drive up the entrance, Penfolds gives you an immediate luxurious feeling. Will our host was very pleasant and knowledgeable with the wine selection. Great variety to choose from, within the wine tasting range. Thank you Penfolds. We definitely will be happy to recommend and visit again

I am lucky enough to join the $20 "Private" tour (we are the only group). Very nice guide take us through the whole winery. An wine tasting at the end (tasted many of the wine not on the tasting list too!)

Went inside and wait at the sign which said wait to be seated, 3 staffs stand 5 meters away from me, talking to each other, one of them I think is the waitress, another one is bar tender, the man next to him should be the manager. After I look at them for one minute, the waitress come to me. I asked her whether I can seat outside. She said yes and asked whether I just need a cup of coffee. I said yes. Then I waited at outside for 15 minutes. Still no one tried to server me. Then a waiter went outside with the manager. I told the waiter what I want. And this is the end. Very disappointed, I won t come to this restaurant unless I do not have a choice in the future.

It offers fine dining Restaurant and Kitchen with serene views of Penfolds first vineyard. It s located just 8kms from Adelaide CBD in the sheltered haunches of the Mounty Lofty Ranges, making it one of the world s few urban single vineyards.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Penfolds Ultimate Experience.
Tour and tasting guide Kieran was an excellent host, providing an informative and interesting tour of cellars and the Magill Estate cottage.
Wine tasting with cheese was outstanding, and of course the Grange was wonderful!
Would absolutely recommend.

We had a great afternoon with our guide Joe. He pretty much answered all of our questions and seemed to now everything about wine. Of course, the wine tasting itself was amazing. Loved it. Thank your for that experience.

Not far from the city, the winery that can be reached by bus, there are good lavender and sapling vines on both sides of the manor. The good shot is the first name I have been to the winery.

Such a wonderful experience! We sampled wines from across the region. Gigi, our host had a wealth of knowledge on the history and production of the wine and switched effortlessly between languages.

Highly recommend Penfolds Magill Estate.

Had a great time at Penfolds tasting the wines, only due to one reason, the exceptional service of George at the cellar door. Very professional and knew everything about the Penfolds range of wines. 5/5

Beautiful wine tasting and lunch here today at Penfolds. As a wine lover I do prefer the smaller natural wine makers of south Australia, however Penfolds have a great brand image and the service shines through! The Magill kitchen delivered a tasty two course lunch and paired wine for $65! Great value, go visit :)

Nil customer service, requested a table for wine drinking for 2, was told no table available despite half of the restaurant is empty at 3pm on a Sunday. Then went to front for wine tasting, staff just pick and serve high profile customers instead

This historic cellar door on Penfolds Rd at the top of Norwood Pde. Dr Penfold started growing vines on the foothills in the 1840's as a pioneer of the wine industry. The cottage on the left of the drive is probably where he lived. The old buildings take u back in time. Whilst the restruant is a modern building with large windows that overlook the vineyard and the city of Adelaide beyond. Would be great at night. The estate is worth exploring. They have a cellar door to buy wines.

It s just a bottle shop. Very commercialized and keen to make the money from any visitors. The reception staff is not friendly. I don t recommend it. Going for some smaller winery would be better.

Tour and visit of the winery Magill-Estate followed by degustation. Our guide was Sam. First the story of the Penfolds was told, in an interesting way. At the same time we marched the Megill estate to the old house where the whole thing started. Then came the second part with the grapes and the wine cellars. The whole path the grape takes until it is ready to drink in the glass. The beautiful cellars with all the wine barrels have already impressed. The best part, however, came to the end. The tasting started with 2 very good white wines. Then followed one climax after another. 4 red wines from A $ 90.00 to A $ 900.00. Sam explained to us exactly what the wine was all about. The absolute highlight was the "Grange". Expectations were high and in my opinion fully fulfilled. The whole afternoon was really great and a great final finale. Here a praise must be pronounced. The price of A $ 150.00 was really worth it.

Less than 30min drive from the heart of city.
It"s a good experience to come for wine tasting and $10 tasting charge will be waived on wines purchased.
Or having simple lunch at Magill Estate Kitchen, fine meal at Magill Estate Restaurant with an advanced booking.
Staff is very friendly and my suggestion is to buy The Collection & Cellar Reserve.

Had a great tour of the Estate incl the Grange Cottage and Grange tasting.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and passionate .
I would highly recommend putting Penfolds Magill Estate on the to-do list if you are visiting Adelaide.

Penfold s Magill Estate is its founding vineyard. Established here in the 1844, this is where some of its most famous wines are made. What made it special for me is that I used to live just a short drive away. I stayed with my aunt up Adelaide hills in Wattle Park, just a straight road up Kensington. Perhaps blame it on my youthful ignorance, I had absolutely no idea that just down the road from my aunt s was Penfold s Magill Estates. Just down the road! I literally pass by the winery on the bus whenever I visit.

We did not have time to go out to the valley, but I am so glad we went to this estate winery only 15 ish minutes out of town! We did the Ultimate Wine Experience and had Paul who was a fantastic guide. He gave us a tour of the Penfolds home and the tour, and wine tasting experience were personable and full of knowledge. Had to buy. Few bottles to take home of course. Wonderful experience and hopefully you can land Paul as your guide.

This historic Penfolds winery is very close to the city. The scenery is beautiful, and it is very convenient to taste and buy wine. You can park in the winery and enjoy the beautiful view of the vineyard in the car. The coffee here is great too. I'd like to visit the wine cellar next time.
