I'm not an expert in unagi, so all I can say is that I loved every bit of what I ate. The shredding of your own Wasabi is quite fun too!

The wait is long, but manageable if you're with friends. I went in a group of 5, so it took longer for them to get us a place. Best to come in pairs - you'll get seated first. Or just bring something to read.

Man Man specialises in Nagoya-style grilled Japanese eel or unagi. Outside appearance could be deceiving but they have live eels swimming in tanks inside the restaurant. As recommended in the TV show Ride.Eat.Find last night, we tried their Hitsumabushi. We ate it in 3 ways ie: 1) as original, 2) with spring onion & seaweed & self grated wasabi and 3) as porridge by adding broth to the side bowl. We liked the charred taste of the grilled eel with secret homemade gravy of soy sauce, brown sugar and other ingredients. The eel was tender and smooth. The service was good inside the restaurant. I was wondering why the restaurant didn't allow customers to stream in as some customers left after finishing their meals. I saw a long queue outside the restaurant waiting to go in as we left. This inconvenient the customers. It was drizzling this morning at 10.58 am. Many customers without umbrella were slightly wet while waiting for the restaurant to open at 11.30am. I rated it 3 stars because of this inconsideration to customers. We hope to see service in this area improve on our next visit.

Eaten here a few times. Food is great and service is good. Always satisfies the unagi craving.

Also good place to bring friends who are visiting, because they can watch the eel being prepared.

There is usually some queue to get in

Ordered a Hitsumabushi with Ikura. Food was overrated for the price of $42++
First off, the ikura was not fresh with a taste of fermentation. The meager portion of unagi was imporportional compared to the bucket of rice they served. Was given what seemed to be canned salmon meat...seriously! No fresh wasabi was served.
Only the taste of the unagi was the highlight from what was a below average meal. Sorry to say I had better. Won t be be going back there.

Pretty good quality hitsumabushi. The dashi broth was pretty good and had a really good smokey flavor. Although the regular-sized hitsumabushi is on the smaller side and we were left a bit unsatisfied.

Place is pretty ok. They have the mini-pond where you can see the live eels, and you can also see the kitchen, as it was in front of the big portion of the dining area. We were given the seats in front of the kitchen, which is nice on some parts as you'll see how they prepare the food. Unfortunately, we sat right in front of the kitchen where they cut the fresh eels open. It was not the most pleasant experience especially when you're eating something. Good thing there was a glass in between the kitchen and the counter where we're sitting. So we ended up just looking down to our food or looking elsewhere to avoid the horrific sight.

Great Unagi, fresh and charcoal grilled. However, do be prepared to queue as no reservations are allowed and the restaurant is small with limited seating. Prices are on the high end but you're paying for the quality and freshness of the food. Service is average in that they don't spend time explaining how you could use the various sauces and condiments to experience Unagi under various forms and taste

Tried this hyped Unagi restaurant. We got the seat near the entrance just besides their eels pool. Many of the eels were already floating, maybe dead, smells fishy, borderline pungent.

Got our order real quick, as if they already prepared it before hand. The soup was warm not hot so was the Unagi. They don t arrange the unagi nicely like what we had in Japan, they sliced it way too many times.

The unagi is tender but the meat is thin. No fishy smell, thanks god. They provide fresh wasabi that we need to grate it ourself. Overall the food is quite good, just hope they give freshly made dish every time though. And definitely, don t sit near the eels pool.

Loved it. Popular place and rightly so. It s a specialist unagi restaurant. Some thrilling combinations here. Very fresh food. Great service. We loved our dishes. Love that we had to grind our own wasabi too! Highly recommended.

I ordered the medium size and the unagi was on point & crispy on the right places. Came right before peak lunch hour and had to wait maybe 15 mins before they gave me a seat for 2. Staff were very friendly too.

Terrible customer service. Waitress was very rude and illogical. We came in 3 but asked for 4 pax as my mum was on the way. We were given a table and sat down. However, my mum was just 5 min away but the waitress insisted that we queue again even after we sat down.

By logic, even with just 3 of us, they would have to give us 2 tables with 4 seats. I ve never experienced any restaurant being so rude to their customers. We even offered to order 4 meals first.

I would give no stars if there is an option.

No matter how good a restaurant is, the way they treat their customer is important. Unfortunately, Man Man restaurant could not even get their basics right.

The eel is delicious and grilled to have a little crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The restaurant is not big, therefore be prepared for the queue. We were there on a Saturday at about 5:50pm and queued for about an hour and a half.

It is pricy but reasonable for Singapore standard. You get ultra premium and fresh Unagi and every set comes with a stem of Wasabi for you to grate on the spot. You can even bring home the remaining wasabi stem if you don't finish it.

Food was of standard and tasty, but without the big wow. Some may enjoy grinding the wasabi, but it slowly became a chore and I would have preferred if everything was just served ready to eat. I give 4 stars for the food.

Service was quick, prompt, and with smiles. Even in a packed restaurant, staff were attentive and experienced. To me, I give that a solid 4 and a half stars. Half a star missing as they could have better improved more initiative on introducing the dishes, this being a Michelin star restaurant after all.

Price wise, food was value for money. Though expensive, portion was big. Do note that there is an additional charge of 1 dollar for additional spring onion condiments, which to me is just ridiculous as we are already eating something worth 40 dollars and spring onions are like nothing. I knew about this as the table beside enquired about it. Price wise I give it 3.5 stars.

All in all, I would bring my friends here just for the hype, but not for anything else.

Went down twice but was always deterred by the queue, but this time round we decided thay we were gonna just wait it out. And we waited for slightly more than an hour.
Dinner time starts at 6 so if you arrive shortly after 6, the queue wouldn't be moving for the first 20min because the guests have just started their meal. The queue moves steadily after 630.
The food is as good as advertised. Because we waited for so long, we thought we had to get the largest bowl to make it worthwhile. On hindsight, that wasn't the greatest idea because it became a little too overwhelming (too much flavour and salt) towards the final few bites. So definitely settle on the regular bowl.
Overall, the wait is simply too long.

The food was amazing. The restaurant keeps live eels, and processes them onsite! The unagi had a crispy exterior but was still soft. Unfortunately, we were abruptly informed only at the end that our 60 minute time was up . The restaurant gets 2 stars, because despite being well dressed, the front of house staff was completely incapable of communication.

Another homerun for Chef Teppei, Man man unagi makes some of the freshest and best grilled Unagi (river eel) I've had in Singapore. A great dining concept that makes a relatively pricey dish accessible and affordable. Mind the longs queues - best to go early or after the meal time rushes.

Super good and authentic kabayaki eel that you can eat in the Kyoto or Nagoya (or whatever you want style). The food is good but what makes the place better is the always pleasant service staff. The eel liver (kimoyaki) is absolutely delicious and should be ordered. The eels are fresh and brought in 3 times a week to the restaurant.

Went for dinner at this low-profile side-entrance unagi restaurant. Man Man opens its doors at 6pm and due to its small seating capacity, the queue is absurd. Groups of 2 will likely get you in faster. Unagi right off the grill with a light crisp exterior and meltingly tender center describes your first bite. A variety of sauces and condiments provided to pair with the unagi. And a pretty cool concept of hand-grating fresh wasabi. Sure it takes some work, but the wasabi's taste makes it all worth. A definite must-try-at-least-once diner.

The unagi rice is fragrant, fresh and nice. But, Super duper long queue. I like the part where i get to grate my own Wasabi, but it does takes time to grate it - fresh. Ordered Bubble-Bubbles alcoholic drink mixed with Calpis Soda - i like that it aids digestion (calpis). Suggest to get your friends who reach early to queue first - the queue takes REALLY LONG.

There was a queue on Wed 6pm but the queue was brisk. No shelter while queueing. Basic Japanese restaurant setting. Good service.

The taste of the Unagi is fresh and tasty. It was well prepared with a smokey taste. However, the taste does not warrant the $30 price tag. The serving is very small. I left the restaurant feeling only half - full. I did not dare to ask my hubby and teenage son if it was satisfying for them. I do not mind paying $30 if the serving is hearty. Even the freshly grated wasabi did not help in making it a more satisfying meal. If Man Man does not serve a bigger serving soon, the novelty may not last long.

I may miss the taste but I will not be returning again.

Very tasty unagi. Soft, thick and fluffy with crispy skin. The sauce also tastes good and sweet. They will serve a real wasabi where you need to grate yourself. A unique experience.

There are tank full of eels and you can see the cooking process through a windo kitchen. The place is cozy albeit pretty small.

Expect long queue up to 2 hours. Better come early to avoid the crowd.

5 stars for the meal, -1 for the queue

It's so good. The unagi (eel) is just, something beyond the standards in the local scene. They always have a queue though! And the place is a little cramped. Be prepared to queue. Don't feel shy to eat alone because they will seat you in front of the grill counter, so you can see them grill the unagi right in front of you.

Hands-down the BEST Unagi experience I've had thus far. Seeing the kitchen in action live behind a glass panel, freshly self-grinded wasabi, and a Michelin recommended restaurant set meal at only $SGD40? Would definitely come back again - if not for the long queues!

If you ask me whether this restaurant was worth the effort, I d say yes. In fact, I would return to this resto again during my next visit, despite its hefty price ($35++ for an unagi set). The unagi itself was very fresh, as they freshly butchered the eels and grilled them right on their open kitchen. Another plus point, fresh wasabi was included in the set. It was my first time grating fresh wasabi and it wasn t as easy as most people thought ahahaha! The taste of fresh wasabi was mild, refreshing and very aromatic, unlike the wasabi paste at normal sushi restaurants which were unpleasantly spicy and slightly bitter. There are three ways to savor your dish. First, eat as it is (rice + unagi). Second, rice + unagi + eel broth. It was my favorite way as I like everything soupy and the flavorful broth further enhanced the taste of grilled unagi. Last but not least, (fresh wasabi + nori + scallion + soy sauce) + rice + unagi. This was probably most people s favorite, as the wasabi mixture really brightened and freshened up the dish. Overall, we queued and paid with no regrets!

Unagi served here is crispy on the outside and soft within. Sauce on the skin of unagi has a flavourful sweet bbq taste. Best part of all, you get to prepare your own wasabi paste from the fresh wasabi root. You can also see the chefs preparing and cooking the unagi through the glass panel within the restaurant. There are also tanks of live unagi within the restaurant. The food is definitely worth the queue.

Good Unagi dons in a japanese setting with different sauces / powder to try. Minus one star because (1) the live window is a nice touch, but perhaps the more bloody process should be kept away from diners, (2) the eels were basically smashed up against each other in a really small pit (can't be helped I guess) and (3) some of the staff were chatting a lot during our meal and it was a little hard to get their attention.
