Crispy smokey grilled unagi! I wished order the large size it's so delicious!
Crispy smokey grilled unagi! I wished order the large size it's so delicious!
Long waiting time, expensive food, food quality is just so so
Unagi was nice
Songs are classic
Fair warning. Dining here requires some planning to arrive before the dinner crowd builds up. Otherwise be prepared to wait about an hour or more.
Place is a little hard to find but once you spot the long, snaking outdoor queue, you'll know where it is.
Unagi are flown in live from Japan, and are prepared and grilled on the spot. This results in an amazing and divine buttery eel, with a crispy, smoky, charred exterior. You'll understand why some might choose brave the elements for over an hour just to have this gastronomic experience.
Superb Unagi.. Tasted just like the quality from Nagoya, Japan. But queue always long. Need to wait at least 30 minutes. Sometimes can wait up to 2 hours. Just be prepared.
Good atmosphere nice eel meal. But , need to queue early before start.
Always love the unagi here, is one of the best i. Singapore
Amazing Unagi place! Highly recommended! And don't forget to pair the unagi with their draft Japanese beer. The beer they serve tasted like the one I had in Japan. Flawless.
Food tastes good. Ambiance is not up to expectation for the kind of price I'm paying. They could have put up proper shelters for waiting customers in the queue.
That was a good "Unagi" in town, where they freshly made it on the spot. And they feed their fishes in the room
Great unagi! No reservations so arrive 15-30 minutes before opening to make sure you get that unagi fix!
Super long queue, not worth the wait. 10/10 will come back.
The unagi is fresh and very well cooked. It's soft and succulent, and not too salty like how some other places make it.
Great Japanese restaurant specialized at cooking eels (unagi). They provide fresh horse radish (wasabi) with a grater. It can't be fresher than this LOL
The eels tastes great and soft, almost melting in your mouth. This place is very popular so I recommend to go early to avoid queueing outside.
go with a full party to avoid being denied entry. =)
The food was really good and the experience even better. Watching them prepare the fresh unagi through the glass panels while having unagi myself was a very wholesome experience. I even got to grind my own wasabi paste! Overall, great place and will definitely come again.
Decent fat unagi barbecued over charcoal. Very efficient staff
It was good. If you want to eat eel in Singapore, come here again! !!
Super delicious. Will definitely come here again for one of the best unagi restaurants in Singapore.
Best unagi ever!!! they give you fresh wasabi to grate yourself. Quite a fun experience. The Q can get a bit crazy, and the restaurant is a tad crampy, but I think it adds to the experience. Be warned... you can't eat unagi anywhere else after this!!!
Delicious unagi. But be prepared for the wait. The last time I been here, the queue was so long despite the rain.
Fantastic grilled eel. Probably, no, DEFINITELY the best you can find in Singapore. Great ambiance, good and quick service and downright amazing food makes this place a must-visit. The queue can be unnerving, however, so come early before opening time.
Best unagi don place in Singapore. I always come to this place when I visit Singapore. There's always a waitimg queue, but it totally deserves waiting.
A prime example of how the maillard reaction, when combined with charcoal smoke and fats, flips all your primal switches. Best unagi don I've had, and unbeatable value at this price. But, are you prepared to stand in line for 2hrs?
love the crispy eel skin! i normally discard eel skins when eating at other restaurants.
My second visit! Taste as good as the first time =)
Dishes tasted delicious .
How ever restaurant was small and pretty tight.
The queue was long and we queued like an hour on a weekday evening for dinner. It was a nice first-time dining-there experience for me but I would not be going again unless I have time and I enjoy queuing.
Amazing unagi for reasonable prices. Have been here twice and was not let down both times. Waiting times are a bit long but it's standard for good food in Singapore.
Parking is not too hard to find. The queue is horrendously long. The food is good. Ambiance is good. I love the fresh wasabi. A little let down when the waitress didn't know what some dishes are when asked. Overall good experience.
The dinner was very delicious and worth for waiting about 20mins in the line. When the meal is served, you can smell the aroma of grilled Unagi and rice. That makes your mouth full with water:) With different sauces you will have more experiences. Do not need to worry about the fett, they serve you with fresh Wasabi to refresh your taste.
Warm service with smile. However after the dinner we want to have a short talk, the ladies were watching us times since they need the table for others. This makes us a little bit uncomfortable, but totally understandable.
Price ist faire for the high quality and big portion.
I will back again to try more meals.
I came here with a group of friends on a Sunday. The place opens at 6pm but we anticipated a long queue so we got there at 5.30 and were at the front of the line. If this is your first time to Man Man, it might be hard to find since you can't see it from the main road, the entrance is located at the back side, where the park connector is, hole in the wall style (literally).
Man Man is all about unagi. We all ordered Hitsumabushi and tried their mentaiko egg as well. The egg for me is okay, nothing really special about it. Hitsumabushi is the star though, they use live eels that's nicely grilled it's crispy on the outside, but the meat is not dry served over rice, and they give you a cup of dashi (I think they use bonito stock), some pickled ginger, wasabi and seaweed to sprinkle on top. It also comes with a bowl of kelp soup. The way you eat the dish is interesting. You can enjoy it without the dashi, but set aside half of the bowl or so to be mixed with the dashi. I like to use a lot and submerge my rice in the soup. For the full experience, mix the wasabi and seaweed sprinkle in the bowl and wait a minute or so until the flavors blend together before you dig in.
Loving the good old unadon from Man Man Unagi. Lending quote from my bf because I m having mind block: Your one stop station for unagi
Hokkaido Ikura Hitsumabushi $53.70++
Large Hitsumabushi $41.90++
Very long queue, decent unagi. Not exactly worth the hype..
Absolutely amazing the place was filled with life, vibrant colors, delicious food, perfect!
Unagi here is super delicious i ever ate. I always come here when i have a time.
Not much different from Uya, but the serving is smaller. Post-CB, the eels are smaller and thinner as well. Staff not welcoming and curt in their responses.
Needs to work on hygiene, housekeeping & service.
On another note, waiter did not indicate that there was no more fresh wasabi for the day (7pm). Would not even consider the Hitsumabushi set if i already knew.
Good eel on rice, you can see the chefs cooking them live
The food was nice. But i queued for 90 minutes even before the shop open.
If you are craving for some fresh grilled unagi, this is the right place for you. Only cons is it's a bit pricey and the serving portion is quite small. But overall its a nice unagi restaurant.
Food quality and portion is good.. only thing is queue but of course wating for good food is a equal sum right?
The flavour of the fish is uneven and some are too salty.
One of my fave unagi restaurants! Glad they have a branch at Central. The one at Duo is too small.
One of the best Unagi in Singapore. The fish is really yummy. Find a car park is not that easy! Go between 2-2:30 pm is the best, no Q.: )
Fantastic Unagi experience. Their Hitsumabushi set with fresh Wasabi is excellent.
Definitely one of the better unagis you can get outside japan. Perfect place to bring a date, however the queue might be a little long. Arrived 45 mins before opening hours and there are already people waiting in line. I prefer the grilled unagi with salt over the regular sweet sauce but that is a personal preference.
Without a doubt, come to this place for some delicious unagi with rice. Get a medium portion for large eaters, it's so good!
Freshest Unagi don ever taken ! Eels were killed live with viewing counter seats (personally didn t like seeing the eels being killed and grilled in front of me). Expect queue at dinner time. We queued for abt 30-45 mins and they only allowed you to enter the restaurant if all guests have arrived. It s a restaurant with probably 30-40 seats. Prompt service from staff . We tried the double layered Unagi don for 2 @$70++ quite a big serving! The wasabi is very fresh too. Will definitely be back
food are very delicious and worth it only if you like unagi !
Average S$30++ per pax
The biggest problem with this restaurant's squid rice is that it is not tasteful! Although the ingredients are fresh, but the rice is rice, the squid is the squid sauce. It is necessary to add it yourself. There is no feeling that there is no lip and tooth fragrance at all. I am sorry for the expensive price, and the soup is cool and visible. It was put a long time. Although the number of people who eat is also local Singaporeans, it is no wonder that the Japanese will not come to eat.
The only reluctant highlight is the Japanese pepper and the fresh mustard that I brushed out, but I can't change the lack of delicious food.
Come in solo. Beat the queue !
Get large !! No regret
Unagi was good! Here you can experience proper way of having wasabi with your meal.
Probably the best unagi you will find in Singapore. Not only are the eels imported alive (you can literally see them nail it down, strip it and cook it right at the counter), the marinate is flavourful and the grilling superb. I'm a huge fan of how their grilling technique leaves slightly charred edges that adds a smoky flavour which rivals some of even the top unagi places I've been to in Tokyo.
Good Unagi for Singapore standards.
If you have time then go at 11.20am to queue before it opens at 11.30am
Still the best unagi don in sg..close to what you can get in japan
Really nice unagi set meal. The restaurant had a kinda fishy smell (because of the fish tank) and is a bit on the pricey end but it is worth it. The unagi is really tender and fresh and you can hardly feel the texture of bones in the meat. Overall a good experience.
Eel is hard, not tasty. It is not at the Japanese level.
I keep coming back here because I am an Unagi lover. Pls consider for some birthday perks so that I can bring friends here for birthday celebrations.
2018 Michelin Bib Gourmand! There is a branch office in Bugis
Nice try! Suggest to come around 1pm weekday lunch time. No q!
Used to love this place but the standards seem to have dropped recently. Quite pricey and doesn't taste as premium as before. Still very yummy but just left a little wanting at the end of the meal when paying the bill.
I went to lunch on weekdays. I heard that they were lined up before the opening even on weekdays, so I arrived a little early. There were already several pairs lined up. The store was full as soon as it opened. The eel was the best. It was the best eel I ate in Singapore! You can go with your family at all. It is a lipi decision (^ ^)
Very good unagi grilled to perfection but the waiting in the line was extremely long.
Very nice Unagi. One of the few good unagi place. Grill to perfection. Crispy and nice.
Definitely one of the best unagi I have tasted so far! The long queue was definitely worth it! Probably bring along a umbrella with you for shade while waiting
Well worth the money. There are seats overlooking the actual skinning of the eels, but not for the faint-hearted/kids
Very delicious and excellent service. However, expect long queues and a pricey meal >30SGD
