ITC Sonar, The Luxury Collections Reviews

Luxury but not very clean. Furniture and room decore is of 90's.. dust below the furniture.. in-room food is too much expensive.. room is equipped with american sockets, but we can use the iron/hair dryer as the plug will not fit in those socket..
Security wise, receptionist said that you can only access lift/locked doors if you have your room key.. but we can access any lift and internal doors..
My Experience is not up to the marks..

The hotel is a five star hotel. It is at the juncture of Science City. Besides this there is a huge building being constructed which is most probably Trump Towers as confirmed by some cab drivers whom I asked. I went there for attending a recruitment drive.The staff are very helpful and courteous. You can have different types of food as there are Chinese, Thai, Mediterranean etc cuisines available. There is also an artificial water body with water plants and a fountain. Overall an experience of a lifetime

Went to Peshawari to have dinner. The whole staff was serving the players of IPL. Very slow to nil service because of that. Too much commotion by the rest of the people. Felt so claustrophobic.

We stayed at ITC Sonar during our family vacation in Kolkata. The experience was good. It is nice, serene place to spend time relaxing. The staff was very helpful and made sure we had a comfortable stay. The endearing warmth of the place is evident in the little details.

One of the best hotels in kolkata...big banquet good staffs and with a brand name of itc.Professional staffs good location and big banquet halls.

A hotel up to the ITC standard. The rooms are in very good condition. The beds are quite comfortable, the HVAC is in good working order and quiet. The guest room area is quite quiet in general. Multiple restaurants to choose from and a bar area you can sit and have a drink. Peshawari was excellent, definitely recommend. They have all the amenities you expect from an ITC brand and well maintained. Airport transport is of course available and it will take about 25 minutes to get there with no traffic. With traffic it is hard to say how long it will take. Probably double that.

Nice aura and decent environment with soothing feeling. Food was awesome and sweet especially Dana bundi and misti dohi was the best taste there

I recommend this place to everyone and if you are on a tight budget, atleast stay here one time.

The entire staff is really helpful and so courteous. They are eagerly stepping up help me in all my works. The best and most accomodating atmosphere I have ever seen anywhere in India and Abroad.

I have stayed at the ITC Sonar several times over the past year or so and I have always felt comfortable and relaxed there. You are made to feel welcome as soon as you arrive and mostly the staff are polite and friendly throughout the hotel.

The rooms are modern, comfortable, clean and a good size, with comfortable bedding and a good sized bathroom with good quality 'Aqua' toiletries. It's a peaceful place to stay especially if you have a room overlooking the lily pond as opposed to the new ITC hotel they are building next door.

I regularly use the business centre and it is one of the best I have come across anywhere with excellent facilities, Sradha and the staff there are so helpful.

Another plus point is the laundry, OK all hotels offer a daily service but at the Sonar you can put it in at anytime and have it back within 6 hours, or overnight at no extra charge. This is a boon if you are travelling light.

The only negative comment I would make is that the service in the Eden Pavillion restaurant can be a bit variable, some evenings even when it was quiet it took a long time to even get a menu or a drink but other times it was good, seems to be luck of the draw. The food was tasty and well presented if a little bit pricey by Kolkata standards. The breakfast buffet in the morning is a different matter, it offers a wide selection and the staff soon get to know your tea or coffee order in the morning which is a nice touch.

Very good ambiance and helpful staffs. Food is also very good.

Beautiful hotel with absolutely stellar service. I asked one of the hotel staff where I could go to recharge my SIM card and he offered to run to a shop to get credit for me. The rooms are clean and spacious and the grounds are beautiful.

We ate at the breakfast buffet every morning, which was great!

A descent property but not very well managed. The breakfast coffee shop is too small and they bring up an outdoor sitting which looks like a typical 3 star setup. Beware of the white uniform.interns. absolutely useless lot. Have no idea about hotel amenities or even directions. They are probably hired free and hence are total waste. The Oriental restaurant is good but unbelievable pricing. A stew for 4500 rs. Wow. Overall a so called popular hotel but I would recommend Hyatt or Taj is far far better.
