I love architecture, but the cost of getting the transponder needed to pass over the bridge about ruined my low budget day trip. Then, once you're on the bridge, there's too much traffic to really be able to take it all in.

It was awesome to visit the bridge.. but the lights are less in the night.. but a paradise for thieves. You must be careful to park your car without any costly object to seen in the car. Must keep an eye on your car. The colour of the bridge is not too shine that we used to see in pictures. It's the one of the most important place in the world to visit but the maintaince is not up to the mark. I found little bit disappointment about the caring for the bridge. For the visitors there are cleaned restroom and gift shop. I found some of awesome place to take photo of the bridge. There are ways for the padistarians and bike routes. It's really enjoyable for the tourists.

We were in San Francisco, so of course we had to go see the Golden Gate Bridge. It is worth the drive to see it. If you would like to get a good picture during daylight take it from the San Francisco Viewing side and at night take it from the opposite side to get the optimum picture.

I'm an Illinois girl but San Francisco is where my story begins. I recently took my first trip back to the bay area since 1973 - funny how the memories of your history never really disappear.

As a Bay Area kid, the Bridge is symbolic to Northern California. It's an inexpensive place to visit, and we enjoy taking cousins and other relatives to see it whenever they visit. There are a bunch of photo opportunities around the bridge and on top of it, too. There is a little section near the entrance to the Bridge where visitors can park their car (parking fee is pretty inexpensive, based off of how many hours of parking you need), and in the little section, there are facts about the Bridge and why it's so symbolic. You can also start walking across the Bridge from there. It is pretty chilly at all times of day, so you might want to pack a jacket or two. There are really great coffee and tea options around the Bridge, so you don't have to worry about bringing your own. It's honestly pretty nostalgic to visit it because I've been there since I was a kid.

A must stop for many people. It is crowded and can be challenging to find parking but worth it. There are signs sharing historical information everywhere. The area showing the seismic impact on a beam was incredible

This bridge is an ode to American engineering and the amazing creations humans can dream up! Take some time to respect what it represents and be inspired by it!

Its always amazing to actually see the Golden Gate Bridge in person since it's shown on so many films and television shows. It's an architectural wonder too, so a must see. Don't just drive across, park at the viewing station on the north side in Marin County and then walk the bridge while taking in the views of San Francisco.

Love visiting the Golden Gate Bridge. Fort point is a favorite stop for my children. Really enjoyed my recent trip and a visit to the Marin side and hiking under the bridge. The history and old military housing is incredible. The view from the headlands through the Golden Gate, day or night is spectacular.

Since it opened in 1937, this 1.7-mile suspension span between San Francisco and Marin counties has become one of the most beloved bridges in the world. A work of art, an engineering marvel, and an American icon, the Bridge is flanked on both ends by the natural beauty of the Golden Gate National Parks. Enjoy an exhilarating, but often chilly, walk across it. Keep in mind that the best place to take pictures of Golden Gate Bridge is Fort Point.

Well, what can I say about the Golden Gate Bridge. It s magnificent, humongous, the symbol of San Francisco. I am in love with golden gate. Go walk around the golden gate park, the museum. Make sure you carry a jacket and Beene, it can get very windy around there. The best part is walking in the bridge, I loved it. It s like 30min drive from the center of SF, you can take an Uber or Lift to get here.

Biked here from the GG Park. There's plenty of signage to direct here. Once i was on the bridge it was tight between pedestrians and bikers, but we made it work. A couple of people took pictures for me. Beautiful.

The Golden Gate Bridge is a technical masterpiece ...

The Golden Gate Bridge is a technical masterpiece that can only be described in superlative terms. When the bridge was completed in 1937 it was the world's longest and tallest suspension bridge.
But above all this masterly example of engineering is a magnificent monument set against a beautiful backdrop.

Construction of the Golden Gate Bridge started in 1933. The bridge, which was designed by engineer Joseph Strauss was built to connect San Francisco with Marin County across the 1600 meter (+5000ft) wide strait known as the Golden Gate which links the San Francisco Bay with the Pacific Ocean.
The dimensions of the bridge defied all imagination. The total length of the bridge is 8,981ft or 2,737 m. The main span between the two enormous towers is 4,200 ft or 1,280 meters long, making the Golden Gate Bridge the world's largest suspension bridge,
a record that would stand until 1964 when the Verrazano-Narrows bridge in New York was completed.
The two beautiful Art Deco towers are almost 820ft or 250 meters tall, of which more than 20 meters is below the sea level. The road, six lanes and 90 ft / 27m wide is an amazing 220 ft or 67 meters above the water level. It is supported by enormous cables, anchored in hundreds of bars locked into concrete blocks with a pulling power of 25 million kg. The two cables have a total length of 2,332 meters and a diameter of 90 centimeters. They are woven from 27,572 threads of steel with a total length that equals three times the earth's circumference.

Update- Dec 2018- This is one of my favorite institutions to photograph, the Golden Gate Bridge. It is a masterful piece of iron works that connects San Francisco to Sausalito in Marin County. Most of my photographs have been below the bridge. However, this time I found some great spots for evening shots of the bridge at rush hour.

There were old gun fortifications on both sides of the bridge to protect it. The remnants remain and provide very good views of the bridge from above day or night. Attached is two photographs taken this past week, one from each fortification. The third photo was taken from Treasure Island, which requires you cross the Oakland Bridge and deposit yourself on the island in the middle of the bay.

Its iconic. Its one of the modern wonders of the industrial era world.
As a generational San Franciscan. When i am coming home from a long trip from anywhere. Flying in, bus, or train. When i am coming home i make it a point to see my bridges. My heart melts when i see the inviting welcome home of the Ports of San Francisco, my and few lefts City by the Bay.
Its an obvious MUST see, then adventure around the city to see if you can still see it from different vantage points.

Super fun to stop and see. I wish there was an easier way to pay the toll before you go through it for visitors but it was still super fun! We were able to pay our two tolls online so we shouldn't be mailed a bill.

While I have always viewed the Golden
Gate Bridge from a distance, I was pleasantly
surprised by the enormity and beauty of it
I walked the entire lenght of the bridge and
back. I marveled at how long it has stood
the test of time and the number of times that
it has been viewed across the world. You
must see the Golden Gate Bridge with your
own two eyes to appreciate its splendor.
