The famous golden gate- a suspension bridge that makes an architectural beauty. The bridge is hung with lots of metal ropes and those are connected to the central pillar of the bridge. When we were there, there was lot of tourists. The surrounding area of this bridge is awesome. The beach is beautiful and there is a long walking/biking trails. There are some old earthworks in that area. There is a fancy bus which takes the tourists all around the place. There is an information centre which is helpful for the travellers. Although we saw the bridge at distance, but we didn t walk as the bridge is very busy with traffic.

One of the most iconic bridges in the world. A must see while you are in California, especially if you are around San Francisco. If you go by car, beware that you have to pay $8 I think when you do the round trip of the bridge. Otherwise you can just walk. Again, amazing bridge!

How can you be in San Francisco and not visit this amazing, iconic landmark?! Well, somehow I put it off for over a year.... BUT I finally went this weekend and it was so worth it. The bridge honestly is a beauty.

When the bridge was built, it was a magnificent feat to achieve. The engineering genius indeed. But for today's engineering marvels it sort of falls short for that megha amazement and wow factor. Has beautiful views and is definitely touristy. If you are one of those check the box kind of tourist, then this place is must visit, to make a statement that infact you visited San Francisco or SFO.

People all over the world dream of visiting, I never get tired of seeing this iconic landmark. I have walked, cycled and driven over this bridge countless times, and taken boat trips under it.
There are many places to view the bridge, and the bridge itself offers great views.

When you think of SF, what do you think of? Cable Cars, pier 39, and of course Golden Gate Bridge. I prefer viewing this masterpiece from Marin County side at higher elevation. I'm not even going to attempt to guess how long it took to build Golden Gate Bridge. Some of the coolest pictures of this bridge. When there is fog, and you see the tips of the top of the bridge sticking out, way cool.

Walking through the bridge takes some time since it is fun to take photos too. There were surfers too that day. I walked to the Vista Point. Since I was using public transportation there were none. I saw only Hop On buses, and their drives said there is no public transportation from Vista Point to the city :( Here are some of the photos I took this time while walking..

Always wanted to see the Golden Gate Bridge in the flesh and I got the chanc, albeit a short visit on a quick vacation to see my sister on the Left Coast this past February. The bridge is a dull red color ,not like it looks in the movies but beautiful nonetheless.Kept expecting to see Superman saving a busload of school kids on a cheesebus.California is beautiful.

The view from the northern part is AWESOME. We could easily find the bridge (tip: if you use GPS in San Francisco it can happen that the signal is lost so the GPS cannot work properly.). There is no fee to pay to cross the bridge.

One of the world's most famous bridges, the Golden Gate spans 6450 feet and links San Francisco to Marin County. Completed in 1937 at a cost of $35 million, the "Bridge That Could Not Be Built" is now a landmark visible from many points around the Bay. Besides the new visitor's center on the south side of the bridge, the bike lanes on the west side of the bridge have been widened. The best way to see the bridge is on foot, so put some time aside to walk across the 1.7 mile span. Even if you only make it half-way, the views will be well worth it.

The iconic Golden Gate Bridge has great views, both walking and driving across. I prefer walking, as one can take in the sweeping views of the Bay, the SF Skyline, Marin County, as well as the architecture of the bridge.

Clearly a very touristy thing to do, but an absolute must. No matter the weather, an absolute dream to cross. Consider running, walking, or cycling across, if you can. Sure there are loads of tourists but it doesn t take away from the beautiful views! Also, there is a toll of traveling by automobile going southbound. Currently $8, who knows how long it ll stay that before they raise it.

Went there on an open top bus. What an experience. After all these years, it is still an amazing fete of engineering. A lot of history behing it, worth the see. Weather can be tempremental but what heck San Fransico rocks........

If strolling over a suspension bridge has never been on your list of things to do, maybe it s time it was. Take a step onto the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and you ll suddenly understand just how Gulliver felt when he woke up in the land of the giants. The sheer magnitude of the metal structure, seemingly floating above the waters of the Golden Gate strait, is difficult to fully comprehend until you re actually standing on it.

Sometimes due to the fog you may not see the Golden Gate Bridge. We had extreme luck on this visit and all days we had great views from all locations. Look up the best places to see the Golden Gate Bridge but they include Vista point on the North End and on the south end Fort Point and that bay front by Crissy Field.

Beautiful tourist attraction. I walked across the bridge, and it was so worth it. If you are in the area take the trip across the bridge.the pictures you will get are quite amazing. The bridge is pretty windy when you walk across so dress appropriately. Such a great site to see!

One of the most famous bridge in the world.

Out of the many viewing point, I would highly recommend to stop by the one with the Golden Gate Welcome Center for the 1st visit especially if you have limited time in SFO.

Other viewing point does not have a welcome center.

Also try walking across the Golden Gate. Just try :)
It will be windy here, remember your sweater!

Sure, it's just a bridge but it's so iconic and does stand out.

Often covered in fog by late afternoon. Try to catch it on a sunny day around noon. Can get a little chilly and windy! Not a lot of parking so try to find alternative modes of transportation.

This place was heavenly. The views from both sides of the bridge was fascinating. When you come visit this bridge, you must expect a long walk to get to the other side. It's all worth it though.

What a beautiful structure! So elegant, so huge and architectural marvel. From either end it looks so beautiful. The welcome center has number of smaller models and samples of the bridge. History and architecture of the bridge is summarized in pictures and models. must watch if you are in SF.

Iconic site. Only one in the world. It was a dream of mine to see the golden gate bridge and now I have accomplished it. I would strongly suggest you to sit on the upper deck of a tour bus and take in all the beautiful sites. Thats what i did. Dont be foolish to rent a car and drive through it because you will miss it as you would be focusing on the road ahead. And for gods sake dont sit on the lower deck of the bus like some fools did on our bus. The right side of the whole bus was covered with poaters so people cpuldnt see anything. There were only 8 people on the upper deck included two of us to take in the beauty of the golden gate bridge. 5 stars from me for the bridge.

First time to that area, and had lots of fun. Although my team the Cleveland browns loss , I am willing to visit there again because of the friendliness of the citizens of San Francisco .

Great views, great walk, and great history!! You can look out for dolphins in the bay below you! Watch for pelicans as they fly over/under the bridge! BE CAREFUL at ALL TIMES and watch for speeding bicycles! They go at a VERY HIGH SPEED and if you step in front of those bikes, you will get knocked over! Take a sweater, a coat/jacket even in summer as SF is usually in FOG more in summer than winter! Be aware of the weather as even raindrops will feel like nails while walking across the bridge! Enjoy the walk and views!!

I enjoyed biking the GG bridge. It's definitely NOT a weekend bike ride on a suburban bike path. You can hardly see it as an exercise since you don't want to go too fast for safety reason (many people stop suddenly to take selfies/pictures, especially tourist). The distance is only 2.1 miles from side to side. It normally takes about 12-15 minutes, depending on how many people are biking on the bridge. The view is nice but crowds can be intense which makes biking a bit difficult.

Awesome place and double awesome view. USA is so beautiful . Even the roads leading from my Hotel to the Golden Gate and the houses en route showed why USA is the No 1 Country on Earth. Beautiful.

If you are from outside the US, paying for the bridge can be confusing. If your rental does not have the fastpass thing onboard you can just call them and give your credit card and license plate number any time within 24 hours of coming into SF. You don't need to pay going out.

The iconic Bridge and probably the most popular desktop background, is both breathtaking and majestic. But getting to the ideal vantage point for photographs leave a lot to be desired with poor road signs.

It was cloudy when we went. The bridge is huge and hence famous. But now every city has one such bridge. When it was built there was no comparison. We drove through because of the weather.
