Bridge is not Gold, it appears to be red. I believe this is false advertising and it's illegal to do that. Also, there is an expensive toll to drive across bridge entering San Francisco. Maybe they shouldn't have made a bridge out of gold since gold is so expensive, and not been forced to charge people to use it.

This iconic bridge definately was... was... amazing. You don't have to walk the whole bridge. We just walked up to the first tower. You can also see Alcatraz from the bridge. Not an experience to miss. You only need to pay for parking. If you want to drive across it, you need to pay on your way back, as there are no other exits to go to.

It was one of the most beautiful place I have ever been. They have made not only historical but also making people to know what it is and what is history behind it and important for the people and place.

This is THE classic landmark of San Francisco. No trip to the city would be complete without a visit to this iconic bridge.

When you visit you can expect to find strong cool winds (so bring a jacket), loads of excited tourists, beautifully maintained parks and paths and a MUCH longer walk across than you would think when looking at it from afar.

Enjoy the smell of the fresh sea air and if you're sentimental, wear flowers in your hair.

Iconic place, beautiful when the weather is not good, breathtaking at sunset when there is not fog. Only 4* because the parking lot is way to small for the quantity of tourist that it gets and because the souvenirs are a bit pricey (just a bit).

Great place to be , there's walking trails , bike trails , public bathroom , maps, and alot of fun things to do :) enjoy yourself and be careful. Also if you need more information, always ask around. People will tell you where to go or if you feel better , just look it up online, Google maps. Etc

Beautiful bridge! One of my goals in San Francisco was to drive thtough the Golden Gate Bridge. So I got that chance to do this and was a great experience. The views on the bridge are phenomenal and one should visit this bridge atleast once in their lifetime.

Simply an icon, luckly this "fog" came out and it makes the bridge completely disappear approaching it. Take your time and walk over the bridge where you can take nice pics of the city too.

Make sure you give yourself most of the day to do this bike ride. We rented bikes from Outspoken Bike rental and rode it across the bridge into Sausalito. It's about a 9 mile ride with some steep hills. It's not flat at all. But you can walk your bike if you have to and most people do walk up their bikes. The whole bike ride is amazing with breathtaking views. Once we got to Sausalito there is an area you can park your bike and then had lunch and walked around. We caught the ferry back to San Fran which I would highly recommend doing.

A fantastic engineering piece and an icon of San Francisco. Is far from the city so you should go by car or taxi if you don"'t want to struggle to go back to the town easily.
It deserves to be visited and admire.

My first time here and I loved it. We biked across the bridge from Fisherman's Warf and it was an amazing experience. The weather was perfect and the views of the bridge along the way were breathtaking.

Great spot to see. On so many levels: it's beautiful; it's interesting to see up close and learn about; visitors come from the entire globe.

Parked in a lot close by, cost $1.20 per hour until 5pm, free thereafter. Short beautiful walk to the bridge with view of the bay, San Francisco in the distance, the old fort, fog rolling in, etc.

We walked out onto the bridge to the first support which took about 30 minutes round trip. That allowed time for lots of stopping to take photos and look around.

The are lots of exhibits detailing the history, the engineering, the construction, and many are hands-on. There is a large souvenir shop, public restrooms, a small diner.

We were there with small children, and all-told we had plenty to see and explore for about two hours. All free except parking.

Can be quite windy, so dress accordingly.

First time on golden gate bridge, went when there was fog and we couldn't clearly see. There is parking near by with pay meter, restrooms and a roundhouse cafe. Statues and fact boards around. Landlines on bridge for suicide help, along with a bridge officer. Gonna visit again soon hopefully on a clearer day!

Breathtaking! It's definitely amazing how immense this bridge is! There are many lookout points and plenty of places where you can take pictures.

There are two restaurants and a souvenir shop at the bottom by the parking lot. Parking is not free but it is very cheap. Tons of tourists and many bicyclists trying to get around you. It can be a little hectic.

Walked the full lengh of bridge and back. Great views of the bay and city. Also watching seals from above playing in the boat surf. Must admit I found it a bit bizzar watching 2 helicopters fly under the bridge...not a sight I see every day but still very cool .

Its an engineering excellence. How could someone miss Golden Gate bridge while visiting San Francisco or bay area. This is an iconic place.
I'm sure no one loves to be stuck in traffic or slow moving traffic and sitting in car bored, hoping to see traffic cleared. But the scene is different here!! There's not a single time I thought not to be stuck in the traffic on this bridge. Every time I drive through the bridge and get stuck in traffic, I enjoy the views and beauty.
There are two parking spots - upper and lower, but is always busy. Finding a spot is very hard. Best way to get to bridge without parking/driving hassle is to use hop on bus. You could enjoy the spots in downtown as well as convenient to get down at the bridge and enjoy the time.
Walking on this bridge gives amazing views of bay area, water and Alcatraz island. Make sure you dress warm while walking on the bridge or at least carry a jacket, as winds here are very strong and are very chilly. If you are lucky enough, you could spot a whale or a dolphin below the bridge :)
Biking along the bridge is a different experience too but will be difficult due to sheer volume of visitors every day.
Currently, maintenance is in progress in upper part of the bridge. One lane is closed and traffic gets really bad at peak hours. Also, with this maintenance in progress, upper parking spot is closed.

This bridge is long. Like you don't understand how long it takes to walk from one end to the other. Definitely don't recommend including a hike as well, it's just so long. Also, the weather sucks so you're either too hot with a jacket or freezing without it (walking across this long bridge). As far as bridges are concerned, this one is my least favourite.

Very nice view

The Golden Gate is an iconic piece of architecture that everyone must experience. Whether it be driving or walking across, it is frightening and exhilarating all at once. Please be careful on windy days, as the bridge does swing. There are suicide hotline phones at either end of the bridge as well. Please think twice!

It is one of the architectural wonders of the modern world. The magnificent spa, perhaps San Francisco s most famous landmark. Pedestrians including wheelchair users and bicyclists can go on the sidewalks of the bridge during daylight hours but not roller blades and skateboards are not permitted.

Too good of a place. Must visit if going to California. Should be first thing to do when visiting San Francisco. It's really windy over the bridge. Get good jackets for the place. Great place for photos. Too much scenic.

Over 80 years and still standing strong. The prettiest red bridge I've ever seen. Budget to spend a couple of hours taking photos from the areas near the Welcome Center, just set your GPS to park here. Free parking for 4 hours in the overflowing carpark while we were here end of April.

Really fun to go when the fog is over the bridge. The fogs horns are pretty consistent and some of the ships that come in are massive. Definitely worth walking around if you are visiting.
