Absolutely Breathtaking landmark to visit. I would recommend cycling from the north beach area and seeing the stunning coast line before crossing the bridge. Pedestrian area is large however gets very busy so make sure to visit early in the day. Also worth going on a day way visibility is good to make the most of the amazing views back into the city.
This was a huge tourist attraction and has incredible views. The bridge is a great site and would highly recommend visiting for visiting San Francisco or Oakland
A beautiful place to visit.A walk across the bridge was the best thing.I enjoyed the beautiful views and the weather was awesome.A great place to visit.
This famous landmark never gets old! You can cycle, drive, run, walk across to Sausalito and it's great. The view from whatever mode of transport you have chosen will leave you breathless and in awe!
This place is absolutely gorgeous. I would suggest going down to the pier and going on one of the boat tours that go under the bridge and take you for a tour around Alcatraz. The scale of the bridge is unbelievable. It s also neat to take the car over. There is a scenic overlook after you cross the bridge that is worth the trek by car. Muir Woods is also just up the hill all together making for a beautiful day.
It s a nice change to walk in a bridge and get some steps in and calories burned. It s even nice to just watch the boats pass by. One the day I visited, we were able to see some dolphins swimming around with some folks wind surfing. Highly recommend.
Love seeing the iconic places California has this one being up there never disappoints me been a good while since I set foot on this bridge had to walk it this time
Beautiful site. There's a trail you can follow to get real close. If you're going, wear something comfortable. A lot of people who live in that area use it as a place to exercise, so if you don't want to seem too touristy, wear athlectic/ workout attire. It's really beautiful though. They have places to park. Right next to it are two beaches, so I suggest you check them out.
Best views of this iconic structure are to be found from the roof of Fort Point! Not many people realize this so parking is free and usually not hard to get! PLUS you get a Civil War era fort to explore. Everyone walks on the bridge, NOT everyone sees the view from below!
My experience walking across Golden Gate was AMAZING! The architecture and design of the bridge was magnificent, and my experience walking the whole bridge was breathtaking! It will very likely be windy and chilly, so be prepared for that, but aside from that the views and everything were spectacular! Seeing the bridge up close is already mind blowing, but actually walking the bridge is a different experience. We even saw a gigantic cargo ship and some whales while walking! Also, a quick note, use the bathroom before walking, because it would suck to want to use it in the middle of the bridge.
Definitely MUST go if you have not seen the bridge before, because seeing the bridge with the mist and fog is an experience you can NOT miss!
Must go while visiting San Francisco! You can use shuttle busses to move around in Presidio park. Go early morning during summer to beat the crowds and Karl the fog!
In my opinion this is one of the most iconic bridges in the world whenever you think of San Francisco or California one of the first things you think of is this bridge I still get chills when I see it especially at night it has almost a haunted feeling to it
The Golden Gate bridge is an impressive engineering feat. Definitely worth a drive or walk over. Plan your trip when the fog hasn't rolled or you won't be able to see much.
My children and I loved seeing this at night all lit up, it's so beautiful, and this time we drove on the bridge, then pulled off to the right at vista point, where you could take the best photos of the bridge and bay, cant wait to come back on our next family vacation.
This was an awesome place to get a good perspective of the area with amazing views and a nice hikes. This is a must do if your in the area highly recommend it and you will get some great pictures!
Wonderful beach! Very relaxed and easy going for being in the city. Get there before 10am to get a parking spot. Pack a lunch - there's a great picnic area. There's public restrooms and a coffee place.
Visited this iconic bridge with a medium-sized group. You can park for free just off the corner and walk to the bridge. The bridge has two lanes, one for bikes and another for pedestrians and bikes. When you're there, be sure to check out the zippers. Those are the yellow cars that move the divisor for traffic. It was fun to watch.
If you have the opportunity to walk the bridge I recommend you do. I was fortunate enough to get a photo of a whale beside the bridge which made the experience even more rewarding
Both #terrifying and #incredible! You really start to feel just how tiny we humans are in dimension versus that monster bridge and the ocean. I found it too much to get close to the sides and realize how brave the people are who work to maintain it. Scary stuff.
Took the free bus from the Embarcadero to the Presidio and then on to the Visitors Center at the bridge. You can walk across the bridge and it was a sunny day so the views were great!! Lots of things to do at the Presidio!
Amazing architecture and view! On clear days the view is magnificent, you can see the whole bay area, SF downtown, Alcatraz and Angel islands. It takes a bit of time to cross the bridge on foot but it is worth.
Please note that the walk will be quite long, sometimes windy and a bit noisy (because of the passing cars). Watch out for cyclists as they use the same pavement as pedestrians. Also, it is highly likely that you will have to walk back the same way you came, so keep that in mind. You might be able to catch a sightseeing bus at Vista point and ride it back, it will cost you a couple of dollars only.
Great infrastructure to visit if you are in San Francisco. You get great views of the ocean and Alcatraz island. Can walk or hire a push bike to cycle on the bridge. Probably takes you two hours return trip if you walk. Really impressive when you see it closely. There are public transport to and from the bridge. Can buy souvenirs and gifts from the shop near the bridge information centre.
Would've been worth it the big red bus company driver hadn't goned over and back then into car park and out before my wife noticed! Some drivers don't give a damn thank you big red bus on the whole rubbish. Last bus we got ( last of the day) driver and guide were great. We reported it also Ng with several others not a sorry!
I bicycled across. The bike lanes are on the left side while walkers on the right. Yet many tourists from around the world walk everywhere, especially in the bike lane. Use extreme caution! Lots of energy, great views, never-ending traffic. Yet overall once in a lifetime experience.
Nice views but cold as hell for this time of year I mean being from CT I wasn't prepared with my shorts and short sleeves and sandals with no socks Lol
Golden Gate Bridge. I had the pleasure to walk across this beautiful bridge while in San Francisco. It's a gorgeous bridge with offering spectacular views from any part. The city offers a nice skyline to see and bay is beautiful. You can see the many boats, vessels scattered in the bay, wind surfers and of course I got to see a large container ship entering the bay! My walk began on a nice blue sunny afternoon and on my way back from Point Vista View, I was treated to the fog rolling in ( that's when I actually saw the container ship ending below from the fog entering the bay as it blew it's fog horn. Was an awesome sight!). Though i'm a bit of a loner, I DO love people watching. Many people crossing the world famous bridge seen in so many movies, post cards, and travel brochures! Some walking, others either running or jogging. Or like myself just strolling along from point to point as I enjoy and appreciate its view of the entire bay as I take pictures. The walk is just over a mile long. Piece of cake. Nothing to it. You relax a bit at Point Vista and then make the walk back. I've seen this bridge so many times in pictures and yet when you see it in real life, it's a marvel. I'm happy to say that I've crossed the Brooklyn Bridge many times, and now I've crossed this Other iconic bridge. Golden Gate.
