The worst experience at an Intercontinental hotel ...

The worst experience at an Intercontinental hotel ever! The service is really bad and unprofessional! The cleanness of the room is poor, you cannot sleep because of the noise from the other rooms! And the doormen are RUDE!

Stayed here in August 2017 with some friends. Hotel is located close to all the action. Hotel staff is super friendly, first time in New York I was not aware that reservations are required for most dinning places. The staff was able to help us get into a nice Italian place. Room was spacious, for New York and quiet too. Will definitely come back.

Id left a review on Expedia, but, unfortunately, spoke way too soon. Staff was very very friendly, efficient, helpful,& lobby is nice. Rooms are small and very basic-we d expected a lot more from a hotel in this chain and that had high ratings. Bathroom was basic. But-whatever, All fine-then we went to bed...two tiny, cheap pillows, a sheet. & a very, sheet-thin topper. No blanket or comforter-SO uncomfortable. Mattress was pretty good, but the bedding was very low-level -bad enough that we definitely wouldn t stay again. It s all about the bed, & this one was bad. We tried to get a late breakfast the next am. There was one guy working for about 30 customers. We were there 50 minutes & only got coffee and water. I asked to use our $25 credit,& was told I had to go to the front desk with my bill-?-We d already wasted almost an hour, so I just paid cash and left never used the credit because when we got back later and wanted a quick bite before checking out, but the place was more crowded and we again saw one guy working. This was days before Christmas, when the city is extra-busy...PS we went back into NYC a few nights later and stayed at a hotel with great pillows & comforters -and a restaurant staff...

The Smahrt Girl Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit org...

The Smahrt Girl Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization, chose the ICH-Times Square as their hotel of choice to accommodate a 3 night stay for 25 teen girls from Houston, Texas. The reservations were booked well in advanced and secured with a credit card. Upon arrival we learned that we were double booked! They had booked us for 15 rooms instead of 8. Sadly, because our rooms had been secured with a credit card they also charged us for 15 rooms instead of 8. The hotel totally refused to correct the mistake. This created a significant hardship for our non-profit organization as well had barely raised enough money for the trip. Additionally, not only did they double book and charge us, they also were not able to accommodate us for the rooms that they had charged us. We clearly booked and requested double delux rooms considering the number of rooms we need based on the number of girls. The hotel could not provide us with all of the double delux rooms, so instead of upgrading us, they down graded us to King beds, which created additional problems. The customer service in the hotel was the worst I've every experience. I want a refund for the money they charged us for the rooms that were never used. The Smahrt Girl Foundation is a non-profit mentoring program with very limited funds and no government grants supporting us. The extra money that was extracted from our accounts has totally impacted the amount of scholarships that we will be able to ward this year. Although the girls enjoyed their trip, I was in disbelief they entire time to know that IHG would be so insensitive and unaccommodating but moreso unethical.

Great location for Broadway and Times Square, but on a quieter side street. Rooms were a standard size for NYC (i.e. A bit small) but were still functional. Awarded amenity points without asking; no free drink available.

We stayed here one night at the penthouse for intercontinental right near the heart of Manhattan. Its closer to times squares and empire state. However, for some reasons I felt that it could have been more of an eperience. Although it was clean and comfortable with good views.

Nice rooms, pleasant and helpful staff, and a nice bar downstairs. There were a few minor things that bothered me though. Ironing board in the room was the cheapest piece of garbage and was all bent up, so much so that it barely balanced to iron my shirt. The iron itself was old and took a pretty long time before it produced any steam. Wet bar in the room was quite expensive, however it was locked so I couldn't even indulge if I wanted to. Definitely on the pricey side but it is their premium brand so it was expected. Overall good, not great.

I was here for a business trip and I am really impressed. You can explore best of new york city just in walking distance from this hotel. This is really expensive hotel but it is really worth it. Views from the rooms are best and rooms are very clean. Customer service is good as well. Just one thing i did not notice was that they charge for all the items available in the room. Not their fault though! I never went to Gym but my friends told me it was great as well. Definitely consider this if you have some money to spend!

The hotel itself was beautiful, with amazing views of the NY skyline. The staff was professional and courteous. The only issue we had with the room was that there didn't seem to be any sound proofing, we could hear absolutely everything going on in the hallway throughout the night. I would definitely stay here again.

Worst experience ever. Stuff is super rude and unhelpful, they didn't even bother to provide us will all the information, fe how to use elevators. If ypu have a question or concern, they will ignore you until you leave.
They charge extra $40 for nothing.

Rooms are dirty and noisy.

This place is ok, a bit expensive for the level service. There's no wow factor and there are plenty of nicer places in the area. If you're an IHG rewards member and want to stay in NYC, save $200 a night and just stay at the Holiday Inn. No room upgrade for IHG Elite status here. Also it literally took 15 minutes for shower water to get hot.

The hotel is spectacular, the location is the best you can find in New York, the rooms are huge, the beds very comfortable and also very large.

One thing that we did not know and that we found out when we entered is that you have to leave a deposit of $ 100 per night, if there is no mishap, it will be returned to you when you leave the hotel.

The only thing I do not recommend is that you buy tickets for Broadway musicals in the tourist service that is at the reception because they charge a lot of commission. If you do not have the tickets for a musical already purchased, you can go to the box office the same day of the show and they leave for half the price (I went to see King Leon and bought the tickets at the box office two hours before and there was room and I got half the price)

Centrally located, amicable customer service and also the facilities made this hotel best choice Families and Solo..

Breakfast is too good and all major attraction on walking distance..

Other hotels claim to be near time square but.actually far from it. but this one is defitely step away from time square.

View From top floor is awesome.. you can have a look at the magical lighting and enjoy as much as you can.

Highly recommended

One of the worst intercontinentals that I have ever stayed in. The only reason for the 2 stars is the bellhop was one of the best that I have ever seen or experienced. He help us with almost everything we needed and was extremely helpful. Unfortunately, the quality of the room and amenities was a total let down and having stayed at the intercontinental in almost every major city, the NY Times Square was the poorest of the lot.

Stayed for New Year's. The hotel doesn't have their own parking lot so I had to park my car and they parking garage across the street. I could see the Times Square Ball a block away so I knew it was going to be crazy. My room was on one of the upper floors; elevator was very fast. Room was clean. The blankets and pillows were fluffy and comfortable. There were plenty of lamps for lighting in the room.

My gripes were with the details. There was some trash that had not been properly emptied from the trash bin. The fridge was not fully restocked. Random beverages were missing. The shower looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned in a couple of months based on the mold growing on the tile grout. There was quite a noticeable amount. The shower handle was not functioning properly. I had to fidget with the handle when trying to turn the water off, then I noticed the handle was not correctly installed. I could see the screw holes with no screws. There was something wrong with the shower door hinges; it would make a large cracking noise when opening or closing the door. It also didn't fully close so water dripped out.

Some toiletries were missing. My reservation was for 2 people but there was only 1 bathrobe. According to Google, this is a 4-star hotel. The price for room service, snacks, and beverages definitely seemed like it. Overall, it didn't seem much better than an a Holiday Inn.

Great location in Times Square and easy access off the West Side Highway. Parking lot directly across the street was most convenient and affordable. We overpaid for our 3rd floor room and was no deal through Cheap Tickets (with taxes over $500). Beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was clean. Don't eat the tiny cans of Pringles because they cost $8 each.

Beware of hidden fees, hotel charge extra fees to claim as destination fee that it was not inform on the web page and not inform to customer when arrived.
Updates.... even with the "destination fee" of $300, the hotel still manage to charge me over $150 for 4 bottles of water and a can of cashew, that took me over 30 mins to dispute during check out. Finally everything said and done, I find out the hotel somehow charge me three separate charges of $1832, $949, and $991 (total $3772), on a supposedly $2771 reservation. it's going to be a long road to get my money back.
During my dispute, I also found out that if you book two beds, rooms are often not available to you when you arrived. This happens to my brother and two other customers tried to check in. Please avoid this hotel to save you hours and hours of anxiety and headache after your stays.

I have worked many events at the Intercontinental NY Times Square. The hotel is starting to show its age and is starting to look a little shabby. I understand the the huge amount of guests and the turnaround time, but maybe, it's time for a refit.

I booked a room here for my girlfriend's birthday. We just stated a single night but had 0 issues. The room was very nice and well appointed. Sadly I didn't have time to take a shower but it looked quite refreshing. The charge for late checkout was a bit of a disappointment but oho well. I had let the hotel know it was her birthday when making the reservation and they were nice enough to send up a small dessert for her. I've drank at the bar here previously and it's also very nice and the cocktails were quite good.

Well we stayed on the 20th floor and the views were amazing, lovely views of the skyline and the river, at night it was amazing views but in daytime views looked just as good, the 2 double beds were so comfy, room service was quicker than expected, and food was brilliant.concierge were great help and the ladies that cleaned our rooms were absolutely great ever so friendly, I had no complaints at all, well maybe 1 , the staff when we booked in weren't very helpful, mind you it was 2.30am.but he tried to make us pay for an upgraded room but my granddaughter had already paid for this, so when we mentioned it, he quickly said sorry and gave us our cards for room.but all in all this was our only complaint.would definitely go back and stay at the intercontinental again in a shot, only other downfall was you had to pay for wifi per device(which could work out expensive)forgot to say we stayed January 2016

The hotel was nice and has a great location for tourist activities. Giving them a 2 star review because getting a copy of my bill is the worst customer experience ever.

Login as an IHG member can't get it, call the number it takes me to the call center they can't email it me, call the hotel they redirect me to their finance team. The finance team is just an answering service that tells me to email them.

See the front desk at checkout and get a bill, save yourself ^^^^^^ all that hassle.

I actually have a double feeling at this hotel. Rarely seen such an impersonal hotel. You check in and then you disappear into anonymity. The room is great. We were quite high and had a nice view. Location is super for tourists. Close by everywhere.
