Emily Varga from Independent has been very diligent in managing my rental property, and meant I have not had to think about it. From organizing and managing trades for repairs/maintenance to resigning tenants and advising of potential rental returns Emily has made investment property ownership hassle free.

My partner and I were looking for our first rental together and we were suggested the sensational Renee Bink to help us do so. She worked her absolute butt off to find the perfect home for us and our fur babies. By the end Independent didn t have any properties that suited our needs, but Renee used her connections with our realestate agents and secured us our fabulous home we have now. Before Emily hardly anything at my rented property, which I think is at least a 20 year old, will ever get fixed or my concerns heard by the past managers. I have rented through Independent Property for the last 18 months and changed tenancy contract during this period. I have found the team to be helpful and friendly this particularly true in the beginning when finding property was incredibly stressful but they secured a dream home and took away a lot of stress in this time. During my rent Iona Vardis has been a delight to deal with and always keeps us well informed of anything regarding our home or even Independent policies. Helping recently in changing contracts making the process smooth and easy.

My property has been competently managed by staff of Independent Property Management since about 2002.

I am a tenant and have had multiple terrible experiences with Independent property management.
The worst is being accused of being in arrears more than 3 times. I ve had to go in and go through my statements and ledger to show them I am up to date. Once I think the problem is sorted and everyone has agreed we are on track, they come back and say I m behind again. What has changed from the last time we went through it?
Their direct debt system took out 3 fortnightly payments in 1 week (over 3,000) and I got charged overdraft fees- I had to block them from taking money out with the bank. I didn t receive an apology or compensation.

Then their new sorted app which is a third party who handle rent payments. I ve had payments missed because it wasn t in their schedule. The property manager then called me to ask why the payment wasn t made and disregarded the fact that it s their product s fault and demands for the payment. No apology or understanding on my behalf was given. Totally rude customer service by senior property managers.

It s bad that they don t own up to their issues/mistakes and makes tenant s look bad in front of owners to make themselves look competent. I will be contacting the owner and filling them in.

James Scott and Melaia Tonga were very professional and great to work with. They helped me put my apartment on the market and answered all the questions I had as a first time landlord. They provided good updates along each step, and ensured I was receiving the best service and value for money. I would recommend their services for anyone looking to put their place up on the rental market.

An issue with the exhaust fan in my apartment has been ongoing for a number of months, and Georgia has responded with punctuality, understanding and a genuine interest in my comfort in my home. She has balanced the needs of the owner and of myself as a tenant, and has gone above and beyond to reduce disruption to me - Georgia has even offered to take time out of her own day to facilitate repairs or to ensure the apartment is left clean and tidy afterwards. I can always be sure that Georgia will do everything in her power to reduce disruption to me, and to resolve issues as a matter of urgency. I would highly recommend her to any tenant, and have found that she has made a stressful issue very manageable.

Had an absolutely wonderful experience with Sofia Ligeros in sorting out our propective tenancy. She was extremely flexible and receptive to our concerns, questions, and enquiries for further inspections-- and her clear and concise communication made dealing with everything property -related so much easier than expected. Grace and James of Independent Property Management were fantastic. Initially we are with another big name property management and we know market is slow but in 5 weeks there's no response and we do not even know if they ever showed it any prospective tenants. Then we spoke to Grace at Independent and in less than 24 hours we switched to Independent and our unit was on the market. James who helped find new tenant in under a week for our premise ensured we were informed and updated throughout the process. Liz Harvie was fantastic to work with when finding a tenant for our rental property. I recommend her to anyone looking for a real estate agent!

I stopped using IPG as my property managers early 2019. I'd be speaking to new property manager every month and there were a-lot of inconsistencies on queries I had, depending on who I would be talking to.

Having left over 14 months ago, I have continued to receive monthly statements and demands for payments:

July 2019 - Tried to invoice cleaning works completed at the property which was commissioned and already paid by the tenant

May 2020 - Requesting payment still owing for rates over 14 months later?

Have kindly spoken to a lady awhile ago who was probably brought in to remediate the bulks of negative reviews, I advised of some areas of improvements but as you can see from other 1 star reviews below I don't really need to say too much more. The positive 5 star ratings are likely to be mates of particular PM's who may or may not receive the service which you'd think all IPG clients should.

I've attached the email received but covered up specific details, I wouldn't have bothered with this review but claiming that money was owed 14 months ago especially during these times is an absolute shocker.

To be honest, I'd recommend Samantha Milin from here. She became my contact person this year and I'm very thankful! She's super responsive and so action oriented that I actually got the issues in my apartment fixed quickly when I'd just given up - and she follows up with you on them.

I feel obliged to write a review after other reviewers noted the low star reviews had been deleted.
We have a terrible experience with them. Even one star is not deserving in my opinion but that is required to generate a review.

The root of our problems may be owner generated but it definitely was unhelpful and extremely stressful when staffs have no respect to tenants' rights.
Our particular property manager and her superrior seem to have no knowledge of the legislature (or choose not to follow the legislature)
Another superior was very rude,condescending and not worth communicating with.

We are property owners ourselves and had tenanted on multiple occasions without any issues.

Would advise strongly against renting from them.

Grace has provided responsive and friendly service, and tackled well a couple of problems inherited from the past.

We cannot speak highly enough of Emily Varga our property manager. No matter what the issue, whether from the tenant or us, she has always handled it with progessionalism, willingness and timeliness.

We recently replaced the blinds and carpet throughout the house. From getting the quote, to helping the tenant choose colours, returning samples, arranging installation and liaising with the tenant and me, it was all a seamless process . She took care of everything. He care and consideration included arranging with the tenant to take photos to show how well the blinds and carpet went together. It was all hassel free for us.

I have been a client of Independent Property Group for 5 years plus and the service provided from my Property Manager is 5 stars everyday. After issue's arouse in my property which I'm a tentant in earlier this year. My Independent Property Manager Ioanna Vardis couldn't have been more helpfull. She dealt with the matter both professionaly and in a very friendly manner. The issue was fixed promptly with follow up emails to make sure i was satisfied with the repairs. I hope to have the same property manager for years to come.

The problem with our experience with Independent Property Management was the regular change of Property Managers over the years. This meant that there was no consistency and errors were made because of poor communication and transfer of information. It was only the last Property Manager Shani Bourne who went out of her way to establish a relationship with us and try to assist us anyway she could, knowing we were many hours away and relying upon her to safe guard our investment property.

Josephine Jankovic was very professional and went out of her way to accommodate my requests.

Overall independent property is friendly and very good at replying to emails but promise things will get fixed in our current rental like carpets will be replaced and that the ceiling would be painted where there was water damage and after nearly a year of living in the house still waiting. End up having to fix things yourself else it will never get done.

My recent experience after moving from another agency has been nothing but positive. Arti, Grace, Madi and Georgia have been fantastic managing my first investment for me. I was recently looking to move property, and I needed it to be relatively quickly as I needed out of the property I was in. I viewed a property with Independent on a Saturday morning, and dealt with one of the agents with some general enquiries. On the Tuesday morning after I had completed an application, Sofia Ligeros contacted me to tell me that everything looked great with my application. We discussed a date which was suited for me to move into the property, and Sofia contacted the owner of the property to discuss this. I was pleasantly surprised when she called me no more than 15 minutes later to agree the tenancy and provide me with the details of my property manager!

Sofia was such a great help when applying for a rental. She was super quick with responses and was such a nice calming person during this stressful time. I would absolutely recommend her for any property needs!

The team at Independent are fairly easy to deal with, the person we deal with, Caroline Phengrasmy is really easy going, she is also happy to work around us with getting things fixed or sorted out and this is done by email or phone calls and makes it much easier for us to get things done, some agents are difficult or rigid with their times and we would have to go to them during office hours to speak with them, however Caroline is generally available all the time to answer our questions. They were also helpful in getting us into a place quickly in the tough canberra rental market.

I recently moved in to the new apartment, Kaylee kindly took time to explain me the whole process and help me quickly settle down. All my questions/concerns were responded or resolved promptly. I would prefer to have inspections carried out at the property more regularly - however that aside - I have found the team highly professional and reliable.
Brianna is prompt and courteous and knows how to get things done.
