Honestly, I wish I could rate Independent lower. I regrettably chose Independent for the management of my investment property but after a year, I had no choice but to switch - they were absolutely hopeless.
If you go with Independent, expect lost/missed bills (which then result in late fees or lapsed insurance policies that they take no responsibility for), extremely poor communication, no monthly statements and an incredibly difficult transfer process when you do wish to end your management services with them.
Super disappointed to see that they have somehow managed to bump their 1-2 star rating on Google of 6-12 months ago up to a 4+. So dodgy, don't be fooled by a rebrand. Steer well clear of this company!
After not such a great experience with another leasing management company, Tim and Independent Property Management was recommended to me. Tim was responsive, and quick in getting everything turned around and his knowledge about the area was excellent. James who helped find new tenant for my premise ensured I was informed and updated throughout the process. If you have a property to let in Belconnen/Canberra area, don't hesitate to contact Independent Property Management.

Very helpful initially to get you in the door, but as time has shown in the space of approx 3 months, I find the Property Managers less than professional. Taking up to a month to respond to an email, the stated preferred method of communications.
I have maintenance issues that require attendance, and its been over a week of sporadic emails with no set time. Heaven forbid if I had an truly urgent issue.
Less than impressed. As a tenant, be wary once you are in the door.

Georgia Hall is a very skilful and thoughtful property manager. I am pleased with the excellent landlord care in managing our rental property in Canberra. Let me just start be saying im not one to usually write reviews, but after my experience with Sofia Ligeros and independent property management, that has had to change.
Sofia is by far, the most professional, kind and caring leasing consultant i have ever come across, and over the last month, i have been around plenty. She is clearly someone who is passionate and genuinely cares not only about her profession, but people too.
I had been looking for a one bedroom apartment for around a month, and due to the owners of my current rental property selling, I had a very tight time frame, after meeting Sofia and explaining my situation (i felt she was genuinely interested to listen and help, unlike most other consultants) she had me approved and signing a lease within two days. After my past experiences with real estate's I really never thought it could be that easy.

Emily has been our property manager for over 12 months and has been fantastic. She is reliable and responsive and we are more than happy to trust the day to day management of our property to her.
I had to change to another company weeks into my contract. Independent made so many mistakes with my property management that I ended losing money instead, they took 6 weeks to tell me they received a notice of arrears for my account, called an urgent plumber for a water leak in the unit downstairs (my unit had nothing wrong) and took weeks to install a lock that I asked done from the beginning of the contract and have supplied the lock for it too. After reminding me about the job and about using the lock I supplied they did the job when the tenant complaint about this fault and forgot I supplied the lock, asking the locksmith to supply one. I reccommend you go with someone else.
