Thank you to the entire team at Independent and a very special Thank you to Sofia for all your help! Working past cob today ensure a Home would be secured for my parents. During these very tricky and someone difficult times for many due to Covid and many still affected since the fires, Sofia really went beyond what I expected to help my parents. I ve heard so many wonderful recommendations about Sofia from many others who she s helped too.

Liz my property manager she is so nice from the inspection to signing the agreement for lease everything was so seamless and easy. She was so helpful with everything and really understanding. I can not definitely ask for more, thank you Liz for every thing.:)

You could be forgiven for meeting the Independent team and forgetting they re real estate agents at all! I have never before received the level and manner of service like that which Independent provided while searching for a new place. The personal investment their team members put into matching hopeful tenants and owners is second-to-none. Their staff have lifted the standard for their industry and restored the empathy to what for a renter can often be a dehumanising process. Five stars is hardly enough!

Just coming back to re-add the 1 star review that was deleted. Independent were barely scraping 2/5 stars overall and now suddenly they re pushing 5. Don t think so. Incompetent is the only way I would describe them.

And if you want your reviews to seem genuine, perhaps don t tell everyone to add the full name of the agent to their 5 star reviews. So do you offer a discount on a weeks rent if people give reviews? Gift cards? So you can claim you re not paying for them?

Take a look at how all the reviews follow the same template with few variations. No other real estate agent in australia has such high ratings... Funny that.

I recently contacted Liz Harvie from Independent Property Management for renting an apartment. Liz was very responsive, helped me with the inspection date as per my convenience. It was a super smooth process from seeing the property to filling the application, I am completely satisfied with the level of professionalism and service. All the best Liz, keep the good work going.

I m having a really bad experience with them. I have had multiple issues with my rent withdrawals in the past with the last one being very recently. The last two rent withdrawals have been wrong by $94 (extra), have tried to contact the agent that deals with my property several times by email and phone calls but never get a response. When I call to reception they say they will pass the message to her so she will get back to me and I haven t been contacted for two weeks I ve been trying to communicate with them. I have no phone to call to so they can fix the issue. It s being beyond frustrating and I can even reach to anyone to talk to and get my problem fixed! Very unprofessional to say the least. I m really NOT happy!

I have been renting through Independent for the past four years and I am happy to say that all services keep getting better. I am especially grateful for our current tenancy assistant Caroline Phengrasmy as she is approachable, helpful, quick to respond and always a pleasure to deal with. Have had such a great experience in dealing with Independent Property Group. Being my first property it was very daunting, but I had the pleasure of dealing with James Scott who made the process very easy and put my mind at ease knowing it was being well looked after.
Even though it was during the peak of the COVID period, James always kept in contact with me keeping me updated with any changes that were happening on the market in a very professional and timely manner, James even took the time to source out other alternatives methods to help find tenants.

We've had a great experience so far with Independent, and that's thanks to Sofia Ligeros!
She went above and beyond to help us find a rental property whilst we were living interstate, she facilitated everything really quickly between the landlords and ourselves and kept us in the loop which I found really helpful and kind.
She was willing to work harder for us with our constraints due to not being able to travel because of COVID-19 and she adapted really well in my opinion given the tough circumstances.
We had a lot of negative experiences with other agents in Canberra so when we got in contact with Sofia, what really stood out was her empathy and kindness.
If the rest of our experience as tenants with Independent is even half as good, I'll be happy.

I inspected a property in Amaroo on the 12th June. Liz represented Independent Property Group. She was very polite, professional and showed great interest to assist and answer all the questions. My previous experience was certainly a disaster and I was not going to consider independent ever again! The previous place we had with them was not looked after well with no contact or follow up we later found out the place was emptied for a while. Things turned around when I got contacted by James from Independent. Initially I was going to hang up the phone when I know it was them, again.

However the conversation I had with James made me feel like a valuable customer again. So we decided to set up a meeting afterwards addressing the issues that happened previously and getting it sorted. On multiple occasions, James has been professional, responsive and attentive to details.

Previous experience may not be the best and this time James truly turned it around. Now we have another place looked after through James is all settled.

I would recommend James from independent, with a responsible and professional personnel like him you will not be disappointed.

I'm very pleased with the service I've received, so far. Communication is made quick and easy with the apps and programs IPM uses, and my enquries or issues are attended to within a few hours (my agent is Arielle Couch). The staff are also friendly and courteous.

What an amazing experience with the property managers here at independent! It Made moving back to Canberra a breeze.

With the exception of some issues with the Building Mtce Team last January, the Body Corporate Managers have been fantastic, especially Kimberley Nugent. I found her to be wonderful.

We hadn t rented for about 20 years and had some pretty awful memories from the past. Fortunately, our property manager, Emily Varga, has renewed our faith! She has been exceptional! Emily is a great communicator, responding quickly and efficiently to all requests. She always remains positive and it seems as though nothing is too much trouble. She is also understanding and flexible when things don t go exactly to plan. She has really made us feel like she is serving our interests as well as the owners, which is a very different experience to what we have had previously. Thanks Emily!

To find someone who strives to get the best customer outcome after a transaction is done is rare to find from an agent. Sofia Ligeros from independent property upholds these unique attributes. She will go that extra mile if it s required.

I have an investment property I am selling through Independent. The Property Manager Grace Beal has been amazing throughout the whole process co-ordinating with the agent and my solicitor. Nothing has been too much trouble for her and she has always shown great patience and empathy in what has been a long sale process. I would highly recommend Grace.

I had the pleasure of dealing with Sofia Ligeros while searching for a rental property. I found her to be very courteous and answered my (multiple) enquires in a timely manner. I was also impressed by the way she handled to COVID requirements during inspections. It was and added benefit that she was responsible for so many rental properties in the location I desired, she is a credit to Independent Real Estate.

Emily Varga provides a very professional property management service, She is able to discuss any issues providing advice and options as incidents arise. Emily has managed activities that are periodical and require my input.

Emily has a good sense of humour and is personable. I am pleased that Emily is in control of my property and know that she will be taking care of all aspects.

You cannot trust these people. They will say they are going to do something but then do not follow through. Approach to dealing with people is very transactional.

I have had the greatest pleasure having Arti as my property manager. She has been more than accommodating and has dealt with any idled or questions I have had quickly and professionally while holding and creating an outstanding and polite rapport between the both of us. could not recommend her or Indepenent high enough.

Professional, organised, efficient. Viewed a property on Friday and signed a lease agreement on the Monday

Great service was provided, Agent Liz Harvie was quick and efficient at her work and very responsive to all our questions. She processed our application within a week, that was truly kind of her. Thank you so much.

Shani was our property manager for the second half of our tenancy. We were a little disappointed with the way the previous property manager's dealt with issues, and since Shani has taken over our emails and concerns have always been addressed promptly and professionally. Shani is always happy to answer any questions we have, and has made our time with Independent a positive experience.

Independent are one of the best property management agencies we have worked with in Canberra. They have always a provided professional and reliable service which made the rental process easy. As a rental tenant, our Property Manager Olivia Poole has been great to work with and does all the background work to make sure everything runs smootly on our end. I would highly recommend Independent Property Managment in the rental market.

Why did you guys get rid of the page with all of the TRUTHFUL reviews? You guys are the absolute worst real estate I have ever encountered. We had to go to the tribunal because you guys claimed that we did stuff which was proven that we did not through evidence and we won the case of getting our full bond back.
If anyone here reads this and is struggling with this real estate by not getting your bond back, honestly just fight the case and you ll probably win because what they claim is not true and they re greedy, selfish thieves.

After not renting for many years and having poor experiences with other Property Management Groups in Canberra recently it was a nice surprise to discover how simple the process was made for me. Liz is pleasant and efficient and I recommend her to others looking for properties to rent.

It is significant for me to rent a property first time in my life. I'm happy to start it with Idenpendent. Due to i'm not living in Canberra, I can only inspect in the weekend. so most of time, i will end up with Sofia Ligeros. I appreciate her dedication into the job. We are renting a unit for one and a half year through Independent. It has been an unstable experience with it s ups and downs. Until Caroline Phengrasmy took over our property management. Within a week she helped us solve and retrieve what previous employees couldn t provide us in months. To us, she was and still is an experience changer.

Was struggling to get a house for months, then I met Sofia. She got me the best house I can get at a really good price. Don t know how to thank her, she made the process from inspecting the house till finalising everything way too easy for me. Feels secure to be with independent properties as the way they dealt with me showed really good ethics of the staff over there.

These are genuinely the worst property managers I've ever had to deal with. They had hundreds of terrible reviews which all disappeared recently. Getting anyone to return a phone call or email felt like I was pulling teeth, they genuinely do not care about anything as long as the rent keeps coming in. I spent almost six months trying to get a leaky tap fixed, so if you're thinking of having your property managed through Independent take note that they are prepared to let things remain broken and potentially cause permanent damage to the property. I went through at least six agents as they kept leaving without letting us know so often I would have no idea who to call or email, and I would have to call the other Independent offices and have to ask to be transferred to the Turner office as no one ever answers the phone. They are the worst

Specially I would like to thank Olivia Poole for her excellent and professional service. As a tenant I am so impressed by her quick response to resolve tenant related issues. I worked with Kimberly for my rental property and appreciate her a lot. She is a best person who I ve ever met for rental property management. She has very strong responsibility for her work and clearly communicate with her customers landlords and tenants. I ve felt that she is very professional.

Emily Varga is a professional, courteous and effective property manager. It's obvious that Emily enjoys her job and this really comes across in her excellent interpersonal skills and knowledge. I have no negative comments as she has always been really helpful and easy to get along with.

As tenants of a rental property managed by Independent, we were always treated respectfully. The property managers were always very responsive, and quick to resolve any issues we had.

Most real reviewers (e.g. with more than 10 total reviews ) have given negative reviews...

Original review:
I wrote a 1 star review before, but deleted it as soon as I received the first call by the property manager.
Well, I shouldn't have done that!
They first debited extra 440$ for a fortnight payment.
When I emailed them, the transaction was quickly cancelled and the whole rent was refunded (not only the extra 440$).
Now they made another payment without notice, and again a wrong amount!!!
And this is not the first time I'm having this problem with them....

Grace Beal has been a great person to work with as I navigated being a first time renter in Canberra. She gives adequate information, sound advice and timely response. I'm sure there's a great team at Independent supporting her so she can support me well.

James, the property manager at Independent was exceptional in transitioning my unit into their portfolio and onto the rental market. His service was very efficient with a strong focus on communication and timeliness. James provided great insight into how best to improve the property and maximise the rental yield. Very happy with his knowledge of the Canberra rental market, real estate regulation and access to reputable tradesman and industry experts for repairs and maintenance. The property had 1 open house before being rented by a well screened tenant. Highly recommended.

Alaa has been absolutely fantastic to deal with.
He assisted with final inspection prior to settlement, obtaining quote for blinds and continuous kept me informed with rental etc..

Hi. Back online again as I wish to update my review for Nickie Xiao. I have a background many years ago in RE - both commercial and residential - so I'm hard to impress when it comes to service in RE: either as a tenant or landlord. Fast forward to 2020 and I am a Clinician working in a hospital in the current COVID pandemic. V V V stressful times. An issue with damage to my personal property came up in the complex where I currently lease - Nickie (as my managing agent) did not have to or need to assist me, but I cannot rate highly enough someone who choose to support and assist me in this difficult time. Nickie's professional and inter-personal communication skills in managing all parties concerned and helping move towards resolution impressed me greatly. When I buy in the local ACT market - there is no doubt in my mind who I would want to manage and look after my property. I know "quality service" is what both I and my tenants can expect and will receive. It is a relief to meet someone in this industry who is trustworthy, ethical, caring and ( I know) will always do the right thing by everyone concerned.

Independent is a reliable and professional agent that you can trust. I have been a tenant from Independent for over two years and recently I moved to another property which is managed by Independent as well. My experience was the best with this agency. Liz Harvie was my agent and she was very kind, soft spoken and quick in responding to my questions. I didn't had to wait long for my application to get processed. This shows that she knows the importance and feelings of people who are in need of a property for rent or sale. She provided me with a virtual inspection option which was very much efficient for me unlike others we have to inspect physically before applying otherwise you can't apply. Sofia Ligeros of Independent property management is an amazing leasing consultant. We have had very good experience with her during our rental application. She is extremely professional and very detailed about explaining all the processes. She is very quick to respond to any queries that we had. Just of late I am experiencing a greater degree of communication.
Prior to these last few months I have been concerned with accounting errors along with aforementioned lack of communication about them.
Overall, over the last 25 years I have been happy with the service. Apart from some issues of governance over some aspects of maintenance eg. painting interior of my flat 7 years ago, accounting issues (already mentioned) and recent bad advertising of my flat the service has been good. Continuity of estate managers obviously is an issue as at stages there seem s to be changeovers many times a year.
Overall, considering its been 25 years or so, its been on the whole good service with pleasant personnel.

Liz was really great in helping my elderly parents get into their rental property. She was always quick with her responses and super friendly to deal with. She went out of her way to show us a number of available options which was much appreciated. Would recommend her services.
