Hotel Iberostar Tucan & Quetzal - Playa del Carmen (Mexique)***** Review

10 minutes after we got to the resort, we were brought refreshing tropical drinks. We've been here two days and we love it. There's a jungle in the middle with various animals hanging out, a cat, multiple pools, it's right on the ocean, there are tons of activities and shows, and it is all inclusive. All the workers are very friendly and helpful. The food is good and there are lots of options, including vegetarian ones. DON'T buy sunscreen or chips here, though. They are ridiculously expensive. Our room is nice. The price is good. This is paradise.

Excellent place! The staff very friendly and predisposed. Great variety of food with Buffet and thematic restorations (Japanese, Mediterranean, Italian, Mexican). The spacious and clean rooms (You can ask at the entrance of the hotel, in the jungle or on the beach). The jungle part with native animals is beautiful

Excellent hotel, fully acclimated with native nature, the main restaurant surrounded by bridges with waterfalls with many animals from the region. I totally recommend it. I would not change anything. We will be back soon.

The rooms are a bit outdated, cramped, beds and pillows aren t what I would call comfortable. The water in my shower fluctuates from boiling hot to chilly as if were programmed to do so, like a sine wave. When we first got in to our room there were ants everywhere and the front desk told me with this being in the jungle ants are bound to be in a few rooms. Also it s supposed to be a family resort but we came with our toddler and there aren t really any play areas for a rainy day (which we had many of on this trip) and they put us on the second floor with our stroller and accessories, there aren t elevators here.

It seems as if this resort used to be the place to go about 10 years ago but, in my opinion, they stopped caring about quality and started caring more about pushing sales like their time-share when all you are trying to do is book a reservation for dinner.

It seemed as if there are two different teams of cooks at this hotel, I barely ate any of the prepared food the first two days. It was as if everything was cooked with salt water. It was good 4 out of 6 days though.

A positive note of the trip is that the pool and beach are great, very accommodating for how many people are here.

I wouldn t recommend this resort to anyone coming to Mexico. Look elsewhere, I ve been to other resorts that are about the same price point but exponentially different in quality.

Rui has much nicer hotels in this area. This is superior to the Lupita but it has aspects not very comfortable, the rooms are not very comfortable, none of the days the ice dispenser in the hall worked (common to all the rooms of the area), to get to the beach you had to go through a good part of vegetation with wooden paths in very good condition, but it is still far away. The buffet service available at any time has a very limited menu

Excellent facilities and unbeatable service and attention. Not to mention the great flora and fauna that it has

Booked this months ago. Got an email 2 days prior to our flight saying they overbooked and put us in another hotel not nearby. I called Iberostar customer service and they were 0 help and showed no remorse for the change of plans and location. Now we will be vacationing without our friends. You think they would show some remorse, sympathy or concession for overbooking, then letting us know only 2 days prior. I understand things happen, but at-least try to make it right to the customer.

Well, it is a cool place ... with a lot of atmosphere, fabulous for the visitor.

Was there last week was a very good relaxing vacation food was great wife and mother in law have been there many times wife said shows are the same but i like them cause i had not seen them so for returning guests i would recommend changing shows up from time to time so shows are always fresh for your returning guests beach had seaweed but weeks before golf had a hurricane go through so thing happen by last day there beach was clean as always no more seaweed pool is nice and clean wildlife Rome's freely around buildings please remember they are wild there not pets show respect and enjoy them building 14 i think has monkeys close by and you may see them super close if your on back side of building we seen them and we were in builds 12 and 11 the staff there treat you very well and try to accommodate you if they can i am going back here again only thing that i would have like to see there is a dance bar i think they had one called mascara but its not there any more im 48 and wife is ??? Were older but not old and one night or two i would have liked to stay out till 1am dancing with my wife cause if im not drinking im not dancing and i never drink unless im on vacation and the drive was not that far from airport think around a hour or less great time thank you for a relaxing and memorable vacation would recommend to anyone who loves water sunshine and great food with excellent service

Wonderful hotel! Excellent diverse food in different localities. Expressed friendly staff from the gardener to the hotelier! Highly recommended for families with children, rich animation program.
What is striking in this hotel; Living together between holidaymakers and local animals running around freely.

A 2 week stay at the top !!!! The daily buffet is varied and the proposed dishes are fresh and prepared for some before cous. Special mention for guacamol. There is something for everyone. Cleanliness of the site and impeccable rooms. The staff is helpful, discreet and very friendly (aside from the often insistent and heavy poolside GOs). The spa is good, but little used by tourists. Sincerely a top stay without any bad surprises.

Generally speaking, the bad thing that they do not have Natural Juices and the schedules are not according to those that we live in Argentina the buffet of the night at 22 hs average that they throw to you .. in addition it lacks places in the beach it fills a lot and if you neglect to steal the tohallas ..

We just came back from there and had a horrible expierence.
Environment
The area was very nice it was kind of like a jungle to walk through everyday. Peacocks and lizards walking right next to you. They had nice pools and a pool bar you swam right up to which was also nice.
Rooms
Our room didn't have hardly any ac. It was set on the lowest it could go and still felt very warm compared to the other rooms we went in.
Food
Where do I start with the food. They let you pre-schedule two restraunts right when you get there. After that you are suppose to go to the appointment person everyday at 9am and check to make another resiervation every day. We got there everyday at 9am and everything was booked and we were told we have to wait every hour from 6pm-9pm to see if anyone canceled which when we asked they didn't even look at their book, they just told us no. Everyone we talked to was very disappointed about this. The thing that set us off was that they didn't even look to see if anyone cancelled they just told us no. Than, when we waved them money in their face they took us in for one of our friends birthday that night. It took money to let us sit and have a nice dinner instead of eating at the buffet every night.
We will never go back to this place ever again

It was an incredible experience

The hotel is perfect, the entertainment staff lovely, the waiters and chefs too, the facilities great. The HUGE problem they HAVE TO SOLVE is the subject of reservations. Ours were lost and after a flight of 10 hours, we had to wait 1 hour and a half more at the reception to be "solved": they gave us a room to pay 400 euros in deposit when we were not at fault that the ruling was his. They told us that they would compensate us and we continue waiting. In the same week we found 4 more people who had the same thing, according to workers is common. How can you afford that a 5 star hotel? ... Otherwise no complaints, we have had a great holiday thanks to the kindness and good work of the people who work there.

It is a wonderful place the best all inclusive hotel I have ever met, great value for money. You are surrounded by animals as if you were in the middle of the jungle while you have a beautiful beach and a huge pool. The food is very good, very far from the quality of other places, it is also very varied, you do not get tired of it even if you are going to stay for many days, it also has 5 other specific restaurants with international, Mexican, Italian, Japanese food, so you can avoid yourself. from the buffet if you wish, the cocktails the waiters on duty generally super friendly and helpful. It also includes free additional activities and you have many class options as well as massages and beauty services (with cost). The only drawback we had is that it does not have a disco, only a fairly small sport bar, so if you go a group of young people you will get bored at night.

The hotel is fantastic, the gastronomy very good, the entertainment also very good! And the place where the hotel is is beautiful!

I love this place you get free food and drinks , you also can paint pottery and shop in the amazing gift shops .There is also a beach and a pool and a pool with a bar where you can have drinks while in the pool . Plus it's like a jungle you can incounter wild animals like peacocks or flamingos ,and there are so many places to go

So far so good. Food has been average. The beach is gorgeous.

The food sucks. The all- inclusive is way over priced in my opinion because the food is worth about $6 a plate at any of their buffets & "restaurants". Rooms are very nice, staff is great as well. Not too many English speaking workers though.

Yes ..... through the hotel jungle ... that was fun. Great room with sea view. Good restaurants.

The hotel is very good, it is fabulous to be a very small hotel and I have a lot of people, it was excellent, they treated us fantastically, the service is very good and the new kid from Animacion Eduardo is very friendly and attentive.

In fact it is the same hotel as the Quetzal. I was in the latter, but both share some of the restaurants and the guests are entitled to all the services of both hotels. As I said in the other, they are very good facilities with excellent service. Both hotels are great.

The hotel is nice, especially the main pool. It has many trees and animals, ideal for who likes nature. The rooms are terrible, they took a long time to assign the room and when they give us the key it was on a 3rd floor x staircase (I have a year and a half baby) and the WORST thing is that it was shared with another family. There was only one door that divided them, I made the claim and they assigned me another after a long time but it was just as ugly, and with super girls beds. I asked for a better room, even if it was a silver difference but supposedly there was no availability. The food in general is good but there is not too much variety, I went to several hotel chains and in comparison it is quite scarce. What is good is the location of the restaurants as they are strategically placed so you have easy access to food. The night shows very good, and during the day many activities. The chairs if you do not go at 7 in the morning are no longer available.

Incredible place, super nice facilities all very friendly staff and the theater show left us delighted, highly recommended.

Good service available, the room that took care of course is quite extensive and refreshments are rich.

The place and the service are EXCELLENT but it says that it is place 100% smoke free but they allow smoking !! ?? In response to the complaint they replied that they sell cigars, therefore they can not prohibit smoking. The answer was unthinkable. The smoking ban is Law.

It hurts that the security of the main entrance is not prepared for that important position since it is the 1st impression that we get is an uneducated person and receives badly to visitors he responds in a bad way More

It was a pleasant experience, very good where all the staff was very kind to you. Excellent shows, good food, and especially variety of drinks. Activities to have fun and a good team of animation.

Excellent place to relax and enjoy what you deserve

Entertainment was absolutely superb! My favorite star friends included Mr. Flowers, Yomi, Christian, Fer, Javier, and the woman that makes omelette! Everyone was so kind and amazing, but these were my favorite people! They made the stay at the Ibero Start Quetzal unforgettable

His hotel is just the right size. You can get anywhere with a 5 minute walk. The natural area is amazing with Monkeys, ant eaters, flamingo's, peacocks and more. Nothing to crowded
Kids area is great!!! Pool is huge. Never had a problem finding a lounge chair. Only on day 2 and so far so good. WiFi seems to be everywhere. Only negative so far is we have a 4 yr old and we don't have a bathtub in our room. We do have a large shower. He isn't ready for that. Lol.
