Hotel is nice. Very modern style hotel. Don't bother with the breakfast buffet though. It definitely was not worth the price. Other than that we loved our time at the hotel

Beautifully-decorated, chic hotel right near The Galleria! Very cool ambience; we stayed on the 12th floor, which provided an amazing view of the city. The snuggly robes in the closet were a nice plus.

As other reviews mentioned, they hack on lots of other prices on top of the initial cost. $30 for valet, $12 service fee for the pool & gym (though we didn't use any of that). So at the end of the day, you could stay at the Sheraton or any comparable hotel, and probably come out even.

But, the Sheraton doesn't have the same chill vibe OR the cool robes so...I'll be staying here again!

The hotel Is very nice. I've started there several times but don't ever attend and pay for there New Years Eve party. Total disappointment.

Great hotel, lots of character and Texas vibe, but they charge you for every little thing on the side. We had over a $100 bill on top of our already expensive room fee simply from parking a couple cars and the $15/day "amenities fee," which should be included in the nightly rate...

Horrible! Horrible! We first arrived in the parking garage and the elevators were out due to renovations, there's a sign that gives instructions to call and a "swanky" golf cart will pick us up, so we call, the person on the other end of the phone didnt sound to pleased that we called, ask him to pick us up his reply was, "oh alright." Well, 10mins later no one arrives, so my wife and I walked 6 flights down, "oh did I mentioned this was our anniversary getaway?" We arrived to the front desk, the receptionist greeted us pleasantly, asked how was our day, I told her that we called to be picked up, but no one arrived, she said "oh they must be busy picking someone else up," I said no, because the golf cart was parked outside, her reply was "oh I'm sorry about that," as she continues to register me for my room she goes, "oh today is you and your wife anniversary, sorry again about the wait with the cart."
We finally get to our room, and the room is outdated, bathroom is outdated, the shower drained slowwwwlllyy! I called the front desk, and informed them that I wasn't satisfied with the room, and wanted to cancel my stay, with my reasoning why and the receptionist was understanding and canceled as requested. The outter appearance of the hotel looks good, but our experience was anything but good.

I am so disappointed with the bartender Tarsha. I came earlier and had Mike whom was extremely superb. But came back tonight twice and dealt with Tarsha who is rude, bias, and really deserve to be fired. I regret giving her a tip the first time and did not do it again. Hotel Derek please find a bartender that treat everyone the same cause Tarsha is horrible and is making me feel like I will not ever come back....

Excellent place to stay up to date and near grandluxe cafe one of my favorite places to eat.

Helpful staff. Rooms are fairly large and well appointed with modern design, particularly in the public areas. The gym has plenty of treadmills, a few other machines, and some dumbbells. Nothing fancy but it gets the job done. Parking in the adjacent garage was easy and allows multiple entry and exit.

I will never return to this hotel. They had a fire alarm go off i had to find my way down with no direction on where to go. There were shady looking people walking in the hotel drunk cursing up a storm. We were there for a company party. We had booked a room but after everything that was going on we left at 2 am we did not feel safe there. Spend your money at another hotel.

My experience at Hotel Derek was awesome! The Hotel is beautiful! The furniture and decor is contemporary and beautiful, along with the wonderfully designed floorplan of this hotel. OMG, the food is amazing, as well at the restuarant, located inside of Hotel Derek!

Hotel decor was nice. I really didn't like the bed set comforters, it literally was like 2 sheets with a thin cloth cover in the middle. The balcony view was nice just wish they had chairs. Also very important WARNING! Ur deposit is 100$ extra after ur room fee an u dnt get it right after ur stay u get it in 7-10 buisness Days I would recommend hotel ZaZa its way better.

Don't get me wrong this is a beautiful hotel. I stayed here for a conference with Total Life Changes and we had blast. What made me drop my rating was my husband and I checked in Friday 3/3/17 at 5pm and was told that we can not go to our room because it was not ready, First thumbs down. Unacceptable if check in time is 4pm, I come at 5pm, and room still not ready that's a bad way to start off. Next I go back to gentleman who checked us in 30-40 min later to see if the room is ready he looks at me like he had no clue what I was talking about and gives me the 1 minute signal and says nothing else. Now I'm annoyed. We take our chances and head up to the room to see what is going on. We get up to the 15th floor, walk to our room and now our room keys aren't even active. So now I'm really annoyed because we need to get dressed and we are crunched for time. So I go back downstairs to get my keys activated and front desk staff acted like I was bothering them. While our stay the only thing we had out of our fridge was a sprite and bottle of sweet tea and also the bottle of water on the desk on Friday night. We were gone most of day Saturday, on Sunday when we were packing and making sure everything was ok I checked the fridge and a tonic water and a bottle of water was missing. So we're puzzled and we know we didn't drink em. Anywho we checked out Sunday and now I wake up multiple charges on the card I reserved my room with and the card I paid for my room with even though they held $100 for incidentals. So my review is not to take away the beauty of the hotel but the staff is not welcoming and have poor customer service. I feel like I needed to do a walk through with room service to account for what we did drink or from I had to stay at this hotel not at my expense not to touch anything in there not even the toiletries next to the bathroom sink. So all in all customer service makes my experience bad at this hotel, and for the rate of rooms customer service should be exceptional. Oh and there is no disable parking, my husband is disabled veteran with a busted knee, and we could of only gotten disabled parking according to the front desk was we would have to use the valet service.

I have been calling the Hotel all day since 7:15 this morning about the additional charges to my card that was only used to reserve my room. I have spoken with multiple people that say that the only card they have on file is the card I used to pay for my stay. I advised them numerous time that my bank statement is showing 2 separate charges from the hotel. All I keep getting is that there is not another card listed and they will have accounting call me. I have called accounting and had to leave a voicemail, it is now 4:30pm and I still have not received a call from accounting or anyone to check in on my concern. I can definitely say that this hotel does not care about customer satisfaction. Their customers are not their main concern. this so sad for such a beautiful hotel.

Hotel is nice, and quite modern, however for a non smoking hotel, the room smelled very strongly of smoke! :(

I thought this a nice hotel with really cool decor throughout. Parking was easy, the gift shop was useful, and the room was comfy and cute. Have no complaints.

The staff was not professional at all. My wife and i stayed this past weekend. They dont tell you up front that they charge you for the room and an additional $227.86 on top of the room fee. Then they wont refund you the money. The room was not as nice as the pics. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else to stay here!

Paid for a Superior King that was supposed to have "City view". We r looking out over a construction dump.

Chic boutique hotel right near all the buzz in Galleria area off 610-S. I stayed here for one night to celebrate an anniversary. They gave us a great room overlooking Uptown, and offered us free breakfast in the restaurant. We took advantage of the free shuttle service, and arrived in style at the Galleria for shopping.

Try to catch a rate on sale. We stayed for about $100/night. A great night in a great room, with excellent service! #HOTELDEREK

Does not live to to the reputation that I had heard for it. We got a good deal for the room so I'm not going to complain too much but the hotel seems a little run down and the whole place struck me as tacky. I've stayed at many hotels that were nicer for similar or better prices.

We canceled a suite at the four seasons and I booked a large suite and adjoining room for my bachelorette party a week ago and it was canceled today because they couldn't authorize $1 from my account which was their fault and I was not informed they were doing anyways. I Received an email about the cancelation and called back 2 hours later and was told they rebooked the suite and basically we were out of luck. A discount was offered on a much smaller room however they should have informed the guest that only booked the room in the last hour that they made a mistake because it really already was booked instead of trying to get us to book another room. Really disappointed in their booking policies and lack of information as a lot of family has stayed here before. We booked a large suite for a reason- to stay in the hotel all night. Now pretty much all hotel suites are booked as this is in a week and we completely had to change the plans for my bachelorette party.

I stayed a week at the Derek. The room was really comfortable and clean. Service was good. The rooms and hotel design is really modern and great. There are several great restaurants a short walk in the next door retail center.

Great hotel with a lot of personality. Comfortable and of great environment! Definitely will come back!

This was our first #Staycation, and we absolutely loved it. Peaceful, great location, and nice rooms.

The location is great, right in the middle of everything. The rooms are nicely styled, clean, and fun. Stellar service!

I highly advise against this hotel! Please stay else where! There was literally a rat in my room, the tub was stopped up, and I kept getting random knocks on my door throughout the night with people trying to enter. The staff was great, I just don t think the hotel is.

Comfortable rooms. Friendly service. Surprisingly quiet on the room floors after hours. Bar service was excellent.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone, I purposely bothered the staff about every little thing (joking) but they where very patient and helpful. The bar of course if your not prepared can be very expensive along with the food. The main reason I give this 4 stars is that for small things that you may forget you have to go to CVS across the street. Hotel is amazing besides those things.

So far so good..entrance and lobby reminds me of a boutique hotel in Miami..art deco-ish with a cute Texas twist..thanks Paul for the very spacious Superior King room..really awesome view..clean..reasonably priced in room mini bar and snacks..next stop..hotel bar for afternoon libations and eats..bar/restaurant were clean..staff friendly..drinks and food were yummy..Ginger and Tonic is the way to go..nachos nachos nachos..enough for 2 and a half people...ample tvs to watch games..stays open until 12 which is a plus for a night cap..didn't get a chance to check out gym or pool area...I will next time..completely satisfied with my stay..almost forgot...complimentary shuttle service to anywhere within a 3 mile radius..awesome awesome awesome

Great hotel with great staff. The hotel is about 2 city blocks from the Galleria shopping center. There are numerous shops and restaurants in the Galleria. They have Tesla chargers and other Electric Car Chargers.

Upon check-in I was impressed with how friendly the staff was. The room was comfortable and the amenities were like any other boutique hotel. My only hangup was when I plugged my cell phone to charge - the room light flickered and it short-circuited.

The location is convenient, right off the freeway. The rooms are nice and spacious. The main problem I have is that if you have a car, parking can get very expensive ($25 each), so best not to drive if you don't want that tacked on each day.

Hotel is ok. Beware of ridiculous $15 / day amenities charge.

Attended for a professional holiday party. Parking was ample, and the facilities were spacious and chic. Staff was pleasant and accommodating. Only aspect indenting a five star rating was the food, which was somewhat bland with small portions for the entrees (although this may reflect the preferences of my employer who arranged the event).

The place completely shuts down at 11pm and if you're thinking of heading to your room to socialize - teams of armed hotel security personnel with 9-millimeter pistols enforce their 11pm-7pm "quiet hours." Staff is otherwise universally unfriendly. The whole building had a weird vibe and the food is about what you'd expect from an Applebee's but way more expensive. Oh and beware the hot water which will easily burn the flesh off your bones of you aren't very careful.

We attended a friend's wedding. We stayed at the hotel as well. It was awesome because it is pet-friendly, and we got to bring our dog. The dog 'lounge' was a small area of fake grass, right along the busy road, but it was secure. My dog wasn't fond of it, however. The drinks in the bar were good. We had a king-sized bed, and it was very comfy. The rooms were quiet, and staff was very attentive. There's pay parking or paid valet parking available.

Very disappointing for the price point. They charged fees for everything. This hotel is 3.5 star at the very best. Balcony was dirty. Closet door broken. Fridge was so filled when stuff to purchase I couldn t even fit my leftovers. Bench/sofa in balcony suite was broken. Water pressure was low.

The people are always kind,complementary drinks. Within walking distance of great places! Will visit again!

Decided to give this hotel a try. Upon check-in (at 3am, so they thought they had us "over a barrel" and wouldn't walk away) the terms were way different than was discussed when making reservations. After giving every opportunity for them to make good on terms of reservation, we ended up walking away and booked at the St Regis, where we had, in the past, and should have, this trip. Fairly disappointed. Was hoping for a very pleasant first impression at Hotel Derek... It was not to be.

Never had a bad experience, there staff is always on their A game.

Great experience. Good food, good rooms, nice people.

Several issues arose during our stay but Lupita at front desk helped address them. It would benefit future guests to have clear expectations about the style of hotel this is since it has a different vibe.

This hotel is nice but can be a little annoying. They require a significant credit card deposit and then take forever to return it.
