Had a unclean and overall bad stay here from given a dirty bathroom to in the new room having no hot water. Really feel ripped off this was not a great stay for my girlfriend and I. Also was told I would be contacted and never received any kind of communication from management.
I have stayed here a few times and have always enjoyed each visit. It's location in the Galleria is perfect. Valet parking or self parking is available. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. The hotel rooms are comfortable and I've always had good views of the Galleria from my room. The hotel's decor is a chic modern urban cowboy. This adds a fun and colorful twist.
The room & the place it self was very very nice, the staff was very professional but some were kind of spicy with their responses, they charged me an additional 100 to my original price point & I didn t know until I came to the hotel. I didn t hate my stay but i ve had better.
WOW! Just wow! I got married on September 29, 2019. I had a room block with over 25 rooms. I worked closely with Chris throughout the process and she was amazing, she was responsive and attentive throughout it all. She left me with Zero worries. The hotel is beautiful from the moment you walk in the lobby to the chic rooms with comfy king size beds. It is in a great location only a walk away from the Galleria Mall or a free shuttle bus ride provided by the hotel. My guest had a great time with no complaints. Please go and visit Hotel Derek for yourself.
Bartender and and hotel staff awesome. This hotel is getting old and it's very noticeable. The rates are fair for the conditions of the hotel..
I had my prom there, the venue was kinda small, but it was well staffed, had good food, and was run really small, i recommend it for sure
You would expect better from the Derek Hotel than this.
First night, it looks like my bed was made by a 6 year old. I pointed it to the attention at the front desk and received no feedback from anybody at management the following day. Second day after housekeeping went trough my room , the bed was made correctly but I found so random long black hair stuck in the tub wall and one on the sink and none of the glass they provided in the room were changed. ( they should use disposable anyway)
What s going on here?
I reported it to the front desk again and got the response: oh, yeah , I remember you. You are the one with the bed. I already reposted it to the housekeeping manager and can t do nothing else
No apologies, no problem fixing ability.
I felt it almost was my fault. I Never seen a front desk person with this kind of attitude.
Well, I have another 3 nights scheduled here for a business meetings and definitely do not expect much better.

Very cool rooms and helpful staff... only ticky-tacky issue was that there weren t enough usb charging ports in my room, which was a king balcony suite...
not sure where to start. I'll start at the extra charges $17 a night for pool,gym,an business center access which we did not use and did not know about until check in. $20 microwave use fee. Cleaniness . The room was decent crumbs on the uncomfortable couch. the rooms are a bit outdated, tub faucet would not stop running. we had a balcony suite it was nice size, bed was comfortable. it's a bit of a Hassel going from parking garage to room have to get on two different evevators. the rates were decent, Wi-Fi had good signal. overall it was decent I would not come back.

Great location right across the street from the Galleria. I checked in and there was a pool party or something so there were people all over the lobby. Music was blasting until midnight (sunday) which was a little annoying. Other than that the rest of my week stay was pleasant, very nice place . Be aware of the 100 dollar a day incident fee they charge, also 25 dollars a day to park.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We booked a room just in case our electricity went out from hurricane Harvey. We didn't get the double room we booked, we got a single. There was a dog in someone's room yapping and barking. We're here right now and that dog keeps barking. The only food they have is from the mini bar, so I got to feed my 4 year old cookies. The staff is slow and rude. The guy next to us got stellar service but we were ignored. They have almost no food so my husband had to drive into flood waters to find us something to eat but everything is closed. This is one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. Days Inn would have been a better experience and for a fraction of the cost. There are no comforters on the beds. Our key didn't work and the staff had my husband go all the way back to the lobby to switch keys. I asked for the GM and he didn't show up. I'm contacting the news so everyone will know how hotel Derek treated those of us looking for a safe place to stay during the hurricane

I stayed at Hotel Derek on October 21,2020. My 2019 Cadillac Escalade was stolen from the garage. I have called the hotel numerous times to speak to the general manager but he s always unavailable. In addition, I have left me phone number and name and no one has reached out to me. I m highly disappointed and to share with others the bad experience I had there. DON T STAY THERE UNLESS YOU UBER! DO NOT PARK YOUR CAR IN THE GARAGE!
I eat lunch normally once every other week at their Revolve bar and the food is pretty good. A bit overpriced at times but the atmosphere is great.

It's a good spot if you want to stay in the Galleria area but nothing more than that. Interiors are kind of 70s styled, you shall pay for amenities that are not worth the cost and 25$/day for car park. I gave 4 start for the position mainly and the hallway that is new and nice
Stayed in the Derek this week for 3 nights. Great atmosphere especially the bar. Mike and Pablo were the best when it came to serving drinks. Anthony the bellman had my name down after meeting me once. He helped with everything from running to the store to giving us suggestions to the hottest locations to visit for Cinco de Mayo. The shuttle bus will take you anywhere within 3 miles and it is a life saver. Cabs are great but if you have never been to Houston, traffic is bad. the last thing you want to do is get in a cab and watch that meter go up while you sit at a red light. Take advantage of this great perk. The pool was pretty nice. loved the movie idea and the water was warm and very relaxing and refreshing. Room service was a little slow. Ordered breakfast to be delivered at 930 but it never arrived. at 10am I called to see what was going on and was told it was 5 minutes away. I am sure they were busy since they had a few VIP guests in the hotel that morning. after waiting until 1030 we still had no breakfast. I called down again and the manager was very apologetic and offered us breakfast on him. We went down to sit at the bar instead of waiting for it to be brought up to the room. we had no issues with anything after that. It was very nice of management to acknowledge the issue and take care of us. The rooms were very clean and had a great design to them.
My issue with this hotel is that it markets itself as luxury when it doesn t offer the same amenities common with luxury hotels. I booked with my American Express Platinum Card expecting a level of quality that comes with other luxury hotel and resorts and that was far from the case. The tipping point for me was being charge 25 dollars to add a microwave in my room.
For the price, it s almost on par with other normal hotels ( Hilton brands easily surpass hotel Derek). I m upset at the audaciousness of this hotel to consider themselves luxury. I will not be staying here again as I was disappointed with most everything.

Beautiful place with an amazing party room and great food. The rooms were very nice and I think they have some of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in! The self parking is very simple and convenient.

I base my review on value. The rooms are trendy but, dingy and are much smaller than typical hotel rooms. Parking was a bit tough but, there was a guy on a cool cart that took us to the lobby entrance. The bar is fun, a bit on the pricey side- not worth the hype. Of course there s the hotel fee for exercise area never used $17 w/tax per night. Staff at the front are not too friendly- average. Because I stayed at better places here, I would not return. This hotel has potential however, they would really need to offer top notch customer service and focus on customer experience.

The stay was average. I expected more! They charge you extra for WiFi and for their shuttle. There fee during the week is expensive if you ask me. Our restroom had not been cleaned, the carpet in the halls was dingy and looks like it needs to be replace. The location of the hotel is really good.

Room service is great. An older/mature female, African American bartender with a name that's hard to pronounce, is extremely rude to younger attractive women that visit the bar. She cashes out your drink before asking if you are staying there, ready to pay, or would like another drink if you look younger than 35. Out of my 8 visits there, she was the lead bartender 4 of those times, and had a horrible attitude EACH TIME! Mike is a great bartender, she is not. She is nice to older mature gentlemen but is very aggressive and pushy to young women that appear to come to the bar alone. Other than her, the hotel and staff are great.

Don't valet, self park because almost immediately after you self park, there's a guy on a cart that's ready to get you to the front door. Still not feeling like a million bucks? The staff at the front desk are attentive to your needs and more than willing to answer any and all questions.
And once you get to your room, pinch yourself because you'll probably think to yourself like I did, "Am I in the right room because I don't remember paying this much for this kind of luxury?!". Full disclosure...the drainage sucks in the shower and don't dare drink the $6 Fiji water or even think about the snacks or the minibar. But let's be honest, this isn't the hotel for a 2 week's stay, so live it up for your 2-5 day vacation!
Really enjoyed my stay here! The rooms are super trendy and I love the bench seat right next to the window. The bed was comfy and the room was well appointed. The gym is top notch and offers chilled water, towels and apples. The pool is AWESOME! It's the perfect temperature and has a beautiful waterfall. They play movies on the wall by the pool but we weren't able to see it. They have a bar and a breakfast buffet, which was delicious but very expensive. They also have a multi level parking garage which is very convenient. My only complaint is that the bath faucets aren't secured on well. Mine nearly came off and my colleague's faucet actually shot off the wall.
Hotel ok, but the location is anyway only for those people who have too much money. Parking over $ 27 unfortunately. Eating in the vicinity is also difficult because all around are very expensive restaurants ..... nothing for normal and not typical American where you get good food at a reasonable price. If you only want to see the space-center you can take a hotel outside.
This place looks nothing like the pictures. Unsanitary bathrooms, the water doesn t drain in the shower while you re showering. The room is stocked with overpriced drinks and food. Dirty robes and linen. No fridge space. Want to use a cork screw ? Charged. Want to use the microwave ? That ll be $25. Need to park your car ? Clearly, you re getting charged. Oh you re also going to be charged for your stay plus $100 extra per night until you leave. I called reception and asked if there was a hot tub and was told ma am, it s hot enough out there . I called to inquire on pool hours and they had to google it, then relayed the wrong information. And you pay $15 per night for front desk fees ..... $15 to speak to people who know nothing about their place of business. I certainly won t be returning.... save your money or spend it at a better location. These reviews are concerning and also very accurate.

This hotel is part weird and part fun. I stayed here because they were able to take my pet (cat). The staff is friendly, the bell valet specially. The parking fees are crazy!
This Hotel should never be rated so high I ll be honest the rooms were nice but the service was horrible the house keeping do not knock just come in your room if you call front desk they almost never answer and the management were so unprofessional I do a lot of business in Houston Tx I will never ever stay at this Hotel again I m in the service industry some what and we pride ourself by service if you stay here you will soon regret it if you ask for corporate phone number for a complaint they will say we do not have a corporate office horrible experience
Nice hotel overall, a bit to fancy for my taste, but the company puts us there. How do cheaper (not any less nice) hotels always have free amenities, but these "fancy downtown" hotels offer squat? Hhmmm...

Pathetic. I booked a room with two beds and instead got one. I let this fly and said it was fine because they offered to switch us to what we booked the next night. That never happened. The room was plain and there s no actual comforter, just two plain sheets. The bathroom was gross. I don t even think they cleaned it before we got there. This isn t my first time staying at a nice hotel but it was ridiculous how many extra fees there were! The pool is tiny and had people smoking marijuana out in the open with kids around. We complained but the same thing happened the next night. One night, people were so drunk that they threw up everywhere. A custodian that was refilling the towels saw and didn t do anything about it. The whole hotel reeked of marijuana both nights. Very disappointing
Close to Galleria. Hotel is hip and beautifully appointed. Rooms are very comfortable. Traffic outside is terrible, but parking for the hotel is convenient and accessible.
Buyer beware! Reservations clerk gives you one rate over the phone, then you get here and they make you sign for an additional fee! We were told we were eligible for an upgrade, but then they waited until 10 pm to notify us, and do not even help us move. After waiting for almost an hour, we have to go pick up the keys at the front desk, where we re promised a much larger room with a view of the Galleria. So we pack ourselves up and move to this upgraded room only to find that it is the same exact room except with a dirty toilet and a leak! So, we call and tell them what s going on and they said okay. So we pack up and go back to our basic room! This place is a joke. Don t waste your money.
My stay was from 5/27 -5/29. You can tell that the rooms are partially renovated (a/c vent still rusty). Our toilet was leaking on the floor (corrected). The cleaning staff watched us leave the room at 9am, but didn't clean it. We told the manager on duty, he said that the cleaning staff left at 5pm, and cut us off asking, "What do you need right this minute?" (We needed the room cleaned) so he gave us more towels. Lastly, we were over charged for parking. We have to wait to check our account to see if that has been corrected yet.
