Beautiful location and friendly staff. We stayed in the Ocean Towers, because I wanted to be right on the water. That was the best part. You can't beat going to sleep and waking up to the sound of the ocean. Some surprises: our room has peeling paint, broken fixtures, carpet stains, and dated furniture. I really did expect more from this site. I was also surprised that there's no room service. Being in the Ocean Towers has felt like a second class experience. But I've paid for first class service and accomodations. So, that's very disappointing. I hope that once they are through with construction and renovations, that a future guest's experience will be much improved. I also hope that Hilton plans to make improvements to the Towers as part of their plans.

Beautiful location, but it's extremely crowded and expensive. Parking alone will run you about $50, just to visit for a couple hours. I have seen many more stunning beaches, and interesting architectural locations. It was good to do it once. It might be good for a location event, but definitely consider how you will handle guest parking.

The hotel is beautiful as usual, especially for the holiday season! Went for a quick evening stroll about the property and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with the ice skaters and the beautiful views.

Historic hotel on Coronado island that is very luxurious. The view from the hotel and surrounding grounds is beautiful. Beach access is right outside the back of the hotel. A restaurant, bar, and cafe are all outside the back with beautiful views and good vibes but very pricey. Popular ice cream shop there as well.

There is limited vegetarian options, so I asked if I could order the lobster Mac without the lobster. The waiter said yes, but when my food came out there was still lobster in it, which I found out after taking a bite. I was given a new dish with no lobster in it but it was not taken off the bill, considering the portion was a lot smaller I expected it to be.

Way overpriced for a suite that overlooked the laundry and delivery parking lot that had deliveries very early in the morning. Had items go missing from the room right after housekeeping came to the room, reported it the hotel, and no one cared. Food was overpriced and terrible throughout the whole complex. Terribly unpleasant experience for how highly rated it is.

Terrible service, lousy food for 98 dollars per person. Worst crab legs, lipstick on my coffee cup, meat had no taste. Water glass had food stuck to the rim. Customer service did not return call. We were 5 minutes late on our parking validation and it went from five dollars to 40 dollars to park for the rotten tomatoes.
Then ended up getting sick in the middle of the night.
You can be sure that I won't be recommending this place to anyone.

I love to take out-of-town visitors to Coronado and always remember to include a trip to the Hotel Del. The beach is gorgeous, and everyone I take always loves the beach bar/restaurant. Prices at the beach bar are quite high ($18 for guacamole and chips, $27 for three fish tacos???) for the food you get. It's good food, but not that good. So, I wouldn't recommend this place to locals looking for a standard place to grab tasty food, but would definitely recommend if your number one priority is to have that ocean view in a relaxed atmosphere. The view is spectacular, and the servers are always very friendly, though service can be pretty slow when they're busy, especially during the summer. I also love the direct beach access from the restaurant, as well as just walking the grounds of the hotel - the landscaping and buildings are gorgeous, with lots of great photo opportunities with friends and family. Do wish that the hotel would maintain the restrooms more effectively. They run out of paper products frequently and ventilation is needed.

For my birthday, my boyfriend booked us a couples manicure at their nail salon, and it was such a fabulous experience! I loved the warm towel on our shoulders and they even brought us glasses of champagne. The room was quiet and pleasant and we loved the ladies who gave us our manicures. Overall, the Hotel Del is one of my go-to experiences when I want to pamper myself or my friends and family.

It is a grand hotel with lots of history and fun to visit while people watching. Avoid the high end eating spot. The staff was excellent...but the food at 1500 left us wanting better. I ordered a rack of lamb for one course and a single lamb chop was served... what...how they sold rack and delivered chop is beyond me. My wife's Ahi was sent back having been severed with the black vein and white tendons still attached singled to us that the Executive Chief was living off the old established Del reputation while not adding much from his time at the helm. The staff made the staycation memorable. Great burgers on the deck watching ice skates twirling between the palm trees...Xmas at the beach.

The beach side bar is beautiful and a great place to hang out and have a drink. The only downside is the prices. $18 for a mixed drink is a little insane. We would've hung out longer and ordered more but the prices were insane.

This is our second stay and sadly, it is still very underwhelming. Outside, the views are beautiful. Right off of the ocean, you can catch some pretty amazing sunsets. But, the rooms are rather dated in appearance and house cleaning is extremely poor. We slept in dirty sheets, gross, and our room was never cleaned before 4:30pm. We left every morning between 7-8am, so there was ample time. It gets very crowded. Great for the hotel, but often it was hard to get around due to mass amounts of visitors (most not staying at hotel) that swarm the lobby, restaurants, and beaches. They are pretty dog friendly - dogs aloud everywhere, though they don t provide dog dishes or beds. We travel with our own, but most hotels that tout dog friendly do provide those accessories. Also Yappy Hour isn t what they market. When we got to the Sand Bar On the Rocks the bar tender told me she knows nothing about Yappy Hour. A server spoke up and said they pass out dog treats. When I went to order our drinks and get our puppy her dog treat, we were offered water for the pup. While there was mention of treats, we never received one. I read other reviews about poor management, so I guess this could fall under that category. We stayed here because of the Christmas decor and dog friendliness. We also understood the hotel underwent a few face lifts. Not sure where the updates went, but not into the rooms. The Christmas decor is lovely. The lobby is gorgeous. The guests are all pretty friendly. It s a good crowd, though large it certainly is.

I really really loved this hotel! I'm a very picky person when it comes to having everything clean. I came in and was beyond surprised with how clean the place was. I checked everything and did not find any dirty spot. I felt beyond welcomed by the staff and the room had a good vibe to it. The only reason why I don't give 5 stars is because the of the small sink in the bathroom. It was really hard to brush my teeth. However, compared to the other problems other hotels have I will be coming back to stay at this hotel if it keeps this clean. Thanks!

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. This hotel is absolutely stunning! The staff is all so friendly. We told them it was for our honeymoon and they gifted us a free upgrade in rooms. The dinner we had there was amazing. I recommend staying here at least once in your life. It is incredible!

Noisy from airplanes to and from the runway. Not fresh & appealing accommodations. Inadequate signage from and to buildings, and room. For a Sunday evening, no available reservations for eating at hotel restaurants. Always long wait and on hold for an operator to pick up phone before and during stay. While hotel made a price adjustment, the overall value was not far below a resort or fine hotel.

The beach was wonderful. Not sure if the water is contaminated like many beaches these days. The room with a balcony was adequate, but not impressive given the over $400 price tag. Some of the food was good and some was not good. Hairs in my breakfast were a surprise. Some of the employees were terrific, but services were non-existent upon check-out. No one available to help us take our bags to the car upon check out. We have some physical disability so this help was needed. The concierge desk was not only unhelpful, but down right nasty. The bell desk was not staffed adequately. There was a line up and a wait to get the car. At these rates, we really don't expect these kinds of inconveniences.

The building is amazing and grand. The dining patios were so clean and neat. The bakery pastries were very good, but their coffee was basically just way overpriced Starbucks. There are many interesting shops around. The lobby has a cool old fashioned elevator lift. Overall, the atmosphere was stunning.

Always enjoy staying at the Hotel Del. From Andrew, the super friendly elevator operator to all the other staff, a very pleasant experience. Looking forward to the new parking garage as currently valet parking is the only option and can get a bit congested at times. Other than that, a great location.

Historic beach front hotel exceeded our expectations. Beautiful lobby with spacious rooms and hallways. It felt like we were stepping back into the 1920's . Plenty of on site dining options and an array of upscale stores on the basement level. Pools were large with a unique hot tub. Hotel staff were friendly and efficient. This hotel has lots of nooks and crannies to explore and spend your day in. It's also within walking distance from the islands main shopping and dining areas.

The beauty of Coronado Island and the ever changing landscape of the hotel due to constant upgrades are an attraction that you can't miss! The beach and quaint downtown keep us coming back for a visit every time we get to San Diego! It is a tourist attraction, but it is always a great time and atmosphere!

Cool historic hotel, great location. Would recommend a day trip, but not a stay. We visited over memorial day weekend. Hotel is too big to allow for a reasonable standard of service. For example, we checked in at 7pm and the room still wasn't ready. The staff seemed unsure of what to do. Eventually, they found us a room, but we had to make three requests for a pack n play for our 2 year old (once at reservation time, once at check in, and another at 830pm when it still hadn't arrived). Comically, the 2 year old was out of his mind tired by that point. Less than 5 min after the crib was delivered, someone came by to tell us there was a complaint about our crying kid.
This morning, I went to use the in room Keurig and found the reservoir full of moldy water (see image). The front desk politely told me I could buy coffee at the shop downstairs.

So my wife and I had the pleasure of going to the hotel del Coronado for a 10-year anniversary. The reality is you're paying for the view but they were remodeling the hotel. Also the room we were in had a ton of just aging issues. They stated it is worth $1,000 a night and said we got a screaming deal for $650 however I wouldn't pay more than $300 a night for how bad of a room this was. The service was decent the prices on the resort were astronomical. It is an amazing place to visit and spend time at but I doubt we'll ever stay here again.

Excellent family location. Beautiful historical hotel. With the stop, but be prepared... it's pricey. We visit from time to time. A beer at the bar might run you about 10 bucks and it's shy of a pint. Food prices are higher than San Diego standard. If you float the cash to stay here, explore other restaurants in the area. Coronado is gorgeous. It is a sleepy neighborhood. If you want action head to Little Italy. Short drive/Uber ride... enjoy!

Truly lovely resort. Attentive service. Very expensive. Dinner was 250.00 at their medium restaurant called Sheerwater. Their upscale one must be even more expensive. Parking is valet only at 30.00 for first 2 hours and 10.00 more per More

If you are visiting Coronado this is an iconic must stop. The hotel is rich in history. The views are amazing, the facilities clean, drinks are great especially pool side or beachfront. Don't forget to come visit during Christmas and enjoy the decorations and ice skating rink along the beach.

My wife, one and a half yr old and I spent 5 nights here in January and had a wonderful time. Traveling with a toddler we prefer a place that we can stay on premises and have plenty to do. The Del delivered! The resort is old and there is some wear, but we love historic buildings with character and charm - which this place has in spades. The staff was excellent, helped us move into a room with a better view and consistently met our expectations. The beach is perfect on Coronado, the little town is at the doorstep with plenty of unassuming yet delicious restaurants, and the new pool renovation should be pretty sweet - we'll be back!
