We reserved one night stay thinking it was at the hotel coronado building. It turned out to be across the way of the hotel Victorian coronado. The room had a musty smell and a construction truck was stationed outside the patio. The lady at the reception tried to give us another room. They were booked so we did not stay.
Huge disappointment and over priced. Hotel Del has an AMAZING location, and that's about where it ends. My visit started with multiple issues with their app and checking in. I eventually had to use the front desk which only had two people working with a long line the entire time. The hotel does have its charm with the old Victorian building, the uneven floors from the old wood, but that's mostly killed by an otherwise poorly maintained hotel. Our room (Victorian suite) had stained furniture and ceiling. Checking out was just as difficult. The hotel is currently undergoing renovation, which makes sense during COVID downtime, but you're still paying the same high prices. The location though is unbeatable!!! My recommendation would be get a room somewhere else in Coronado and then just visit the Del and only pay the crazy high prices for the food and drinks...not on a sub par stay. For that much money I was expecting more. Covid is 100% respected by all staff and by 75% of the guests.
This is clearly more than a 3 star hotel but since I with many hundreds of other lookers only wandered through the public areas gawking at the magnificent setting I can't speak to the actual hotel stay. I would imagine that as a guest you would get sick of the tourists that pack the place during the day but hey its one of the iconic hotels in the US and very much worth a look. Lovely grounds right on the beach and I imagine 5 star service. Not that it's important but there was an alarming number of unattractive old men with stunning young women on their arms which gives you and indication of the clientele and affluence needed to stay at this lovely hotel. Not to be judgmental but I imagine the car park was full of Corvettes. Worth a look but not sure if its worth staying there.
Visited the hotel, did not stay. So beautiful! Love the history. I wanted to take pictures of the crown-shaped chandeliers in the dining room that is for guests only. I asked a staff member if I could go in quickly to take a few pictures, and they kindly let me. Would love to stay here someday. We parked on the street a couple blocks away. There was plenty of parking in the morning, but after walking around awhile, the spaces filled up! There s some bathrooms available, which I certainly appreciated. Very clean.
Place is historic. Needs a serious renovation. WiFi and cellphone service are atrocious. Easy walk to the downtown area. I would not stay there again highly overrated.
Room 3332 in the old section of the Hotel was nice and spacious, clean, and attractive. However, the bed was very hard and I awoke with a back ache. I don't usually get a backache in most beds. The Hotel grounds are very beautiful and the restaurants and shops were very nice. With a different bed I would have given the hotel a five star, but if you can't sleep I will give it a 3.
Absolutely amazing property, lives up to the reputation. We didn't actually stay there but we explored the grounds and beach and grabbed some food and drinks at one of the several beach side bars / restaurants. We also saw a wedding being set up that looked beautiful. Highly recommend stopping by even just for a drink or meal.
Great spot that is popular with tourists, but prices are ridiculously expensive, even high for California standards... e.g. $20 for a 6oz cocktail in a plastic cup
Conventions took over whole hotel including booths everywhere including lovely courtyard! Taking down exhibits behind our room all night was disturbing! No indoor bar or restaurants and outside area was all private parties! Ant infestation in the bathroom (killed at least 20) , no light in bathroom, vanity mirror was in closet with no cord and final insult was room was not cleaned on the last day! (we left at 6:30 am and returned at 2:30) Hilton, you should be ashamed!
Excellent location for a family walk with kids or anyone looking to enjoy nice beach and an excellent crowd. There was a it of smell in some areas where lot of seaweed had been just sitting but you can quickly walk pass it.
You don t have to stay at this hotel to enjoy it. It s a wonderful property that has a very interesting history. The property is right on the beach so dining here is great when the weather is nice. It is right on the beach so it can get breezy and a bit chili. Walking on the beach is wonderful too. Nice sandy and clean beach. Water is cold but still a nice place to walk on and explore!
The Hotel Del Coronado has beach umbrellas and chairs for rent. They are currently $25 each and go for the whole day's rental, which is until sunset. Parking is free for 15 minutes, and is $5 with validation for zero to two hours. Rates for longer parking terms are posted at the entrance to the lot. There are shops and restaurants where you can validate your parking ticket to pay cheaper rates! Don't forget to validate your ticket, or else you will pay more. Valet parking starts at $25 for zero to two hours.
A regular "haunt" for me. Weekends, Michael Gonzales "Gonzo" plays first rate music in Babcock and Story. Historic frame building reported ghost stories and boasts of celebrities past. If you are on a budget, just walk on the beach and peruse. It is pricey.
Beautiful historical place! Can't get any better than having dinner with 1st hand views of the water and the beach! Best of all, the food is the best we've ever had! Amazing!
Unbeatable location. Deep history. Most expensive salmon sandwich I've ever eaten in my life at Sheerwater restaurant - totally worth it and would order it again.
Beautiful hotel with an unbelievable location. Their restaurants are beach front and the service is pretty solid. Parking was tricky and the lighting in the lobby was inadequate.
I was not in the hotel itself. However I walked around the gardens and enjoyed an ice cream cone from the hotel's shop. The hotel has an amazing atmosphere. It's a must vacation get away spot!
