Not really fair to assign any start rating when I just rode by on a bike for lunch. I bought a sandwich in town, and brought it to the beach at the hotel for a picnic. Walking through the hotel for a tour proved difficult due to the crowds. I asked about the movie history and was told by a clerk to read a poster. The building and the setting were beautiful, just not quaint enough for me.

Very touristy destination. Good views of the beach, expensive drinks, etc. The hotel has a quite a bit of charm and history, but unless you plan to spend most of your time at Coronado, just pay a visit and avoid the stay.

Overrated. We had 2 rooms books over the holidays. Took 2 hours to check in. Rooms were not ready until 5pm. We ended up leaving at 11:30 that evening because service was so poor. Worth it to spend the extra money and stay at the sister property, beach village. It s a beautiful hotel with a lot of history, but better for a day visit or staying at another hotel close by. The service is just so poor over the holidays.

Aside from this hotel being iconic and right on the beach, we were very disappointed with our stay. We were out in a room right next to the stairs for our honeymoon stay and couldn t sleep the first night. We explained how loud room 3240 was and asked to be moved and they wanted to charge us. After convincing them to move us, they said they would call when our room was ready, so we stayed close by to move our stuff and they never called. We went to the front desk and asked if it was ready and they said they went to call and somehow our phone number was deleted from their system. Aside from that, they tell us to check out by dropping keys in a box which we were unsure about but did anyways. Days later we notice our card was charged for hundreds more than what it should have been charged for our stay. With no bill to compare the charges to, I called and waited on hold for a while. When I looked at the bill, it showed several charges for their beach bar that did not belong to us. They assured they would refund the charges and they did, but days later they charged them back again. I ve now had to call a second time and wait on hold for a length of time to be told they charged them back because the signature matched my signature but nobody is able to send me the proof of that. So needless to say, someone got to eat and get drunk and charge it to a pregnant girl s room because the hotel doesn t ask for proof of stay and room number when someone says, Charge it to my room, #... We expected so much more from this hotel and they fell short by a lot. We would not stay again. Can t help but believe it s because corporate Hilton took it over.

Sheerwater Restaurant is what I am rating. Not the entire Hotel. The Hotel is above 5 stars but the Restaurant is crazy expensive.. 25 dollar hamburger and 38 dollar seafood salad that is horrible! The Lobster Bisque was so bad. It is seriously unfortunate because of its location.

This was my wife's and mine first time staying at the Hotel Del Coronado together and my first time in about 12 years and it still lives up to the standard that it set for me when I was just a kid traveling with my family. It was a perfect place for us to visit for a relaxing vacation before the birth of our first child.

The hotel itself is a beautiful place, the main Victorian still has the same charm I imagine it did when it opened 130 years ago with modern updates sprinkled in throughout. This was my first time staying during this time of year and I must say my wife and I absolutely loved the holiday decorations that the hotel puts up. It was a beautiful site to see and it made our stay more enjoyable. The countless white Christmas trees and the ice rink were very festive and made the trip feel as if you were not right on the beach, but in a good way. Then you look past the rink towards the ocean and see the nicest beach in San Diego possibly all of Southern California; it's truly a site to see.

While there is a massive renovation project going on at the hotel in the pool area as well as the entire parking lot area by the original main entrance and lobby the hotel was very accommodating and gave my wife a room as far away from the construction while still maintaining our ocean view.

There were a few things that occured during our trip that could have easily lowered my rating from a 5 to a 4 but the hotel staff did a wonderful job making up for the miscues. We did not get the original room we were promised however the hotel accomodated us by giving us a room with a better view and more privacy. The other incidents that occured were not the fault of the hotel as a fire alarm went off due to a mechanical issue and an inconsistent internet to watch the in room streaming entertainment on the TV which did make it challenging at times to watch tv when we were trying to relax in the room. However dispite these incidents the hotel staff's constant efforts to make us feel like extremely valued guests really erased the concerns we had. Everyone from the valets, to the bellhops, to the waiters and waitresses, and everyone at the front desk truly were wonderful.

My wife and I enjoyed our prebaby vacation and we will definitely be coming back. Next time with it will be with out new daughter :)

We have come here for years through our Disney Vacation Club. The service and rooms over the years were impeccable. This was before the current management team took over the Del. This time we were given a room that had mold and mildew which caused me to suffer a severe allergic reaction. It was difficult trying to get another room from the Del's indifferent management team. Eventually we were given a different room after waiting hours. The new room wasn't too much better. The room air conditioner was designed to release its condensation from a pipe in the ceiling in the bathroom into the sink 6 feet below. It was a waterfall into the sink which splashed all over the bathroom walls, floor and the sink counter. This made the bathroom sink unusable and unsanitary. We were extremely surprised with our latest experience at the Del and will not be coming back until the current management team restores the Del to its previous prestigious reputation.

It was beautiful as far as location. The main hotel was old musty and uneven flooring because of its age. The cabana room were gorgeous but noisy! Slept terrible!!! It's too expensive of a hotel to sleep terrible too!

Ive been to this lovely establishment a few times. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the grounds are always impeccably maintained. I took my mother here for the Mother's Day Brunch a couple of years ago and it did not disappoint! The vast array of food was constantly refreshed and the drinks were heavily flowing. If you want to impress an out of towner just bring them here.

Visited over Christmas with family. Very family friendly. Not too crowded but lively. Christmas Day buffet was good. Once the wind finally died down, walking along the beach was beautiful. ENO's pizza is a must!

The hotel dates back to the late 1800s. However, you would never know from the condition and the amenities. This is one of the top 5 hotels I've ever been in and I've seen a lot of really nice hotels. It's right on the beach with a stunning view of the ocean and sunset. The lobby will take your breath away. They have a spa, cute boutique shops with candy, gelato, etc. The restaurants were expensive and worth every penny. If you have the means, I highly recommend starting here.

Historic hotel. An artist makes some nice sand castles in front of the hotel. Probably the best Sunday brunch in town of you've got the cash and stomach for the plentiful dining options. Head further west towards North Island air base and you'll find less crowded for sunning. Not the best surf in town, but good for beginners. Shuffle your feet in the summer as sting rays tend to gather there when the water is warm.

The Del is, indeed, very expensive. It is also pretty awesome.. always something to do there--sand castles on the beach, "snow" in winter-- and you don't have to stay there to walk around and enjoy it. Suck it up and get some over priced ice cream while you walk around and enjoy an amazing historic hotel.

Historical and beautiful Hotel on the west beachside of Coronado island in SanDiego.

One of the few hotels which allow public visits. This place organizes free events on specific times like Christmas Eve or New year. They also had ice skating event at the hotel backside.

If you're in Coronado, you should definitely stop at Hotel Del Coronado. My fiance and I went to Coronado because it's a beautiful place. A friend of ours told us to visit the hotel and we were glad she told us. It is beautiful and you are allowed to walk through the lobby and courtyard. They have multiple restaurants to eat and a large beach area outside to catch some sun. We spent about 4 hours around the hotel and even got to see a wedding take place on the hotel lawn. We ended up getting a pizza and watching the sun set from the beach outside the hotel. If you are in the area, it's worth a stop to check out.

We were just walking by on a night stroll. Always enjoy walking near the hotel del. Good views of the beach. Never stayed at the hotel yet or attended an event there, but it does seem like it would be a great experience!

Beautiful Victorian Hotel near downtown San Diego, CA. Hotel management charges for parking, however, especially for people who do not stay there. This is aggravated by the fact that the hotel does not have enough parking for the demand. They also charge for entering and not finding a spot ($30.00), so in order to avoid this problem, it would be best to park outside the grounds of the hotel and walk in.

It's really about the ghost stories. Also thank you so much to Hotel staff for allowing me to eat in the cafeteria. I worked the Gary Sinisse concert on the beach that Sunday. Thank you for being true human beings instead of corporate snobs.

Very beautiful place for a historic hotel. Right on the beach and the area is very easy to walk around. Valet parking is required so be prepped to pay a good amount per night if bringing a vehicle.

I do love the location and the history of this hotel. I would recommend only staying in the Victorian rooms, with at least a partial ocean view. Don't expect turndown service, even with the suites. Don't expect air conditioning in common areas. The lobby was sweltering this time. Room service was fairly quick, room service did miss things like refills for the Keurig. We reserved a deluxe beach lounge "cabana" bed with umbrellas and was well worth the money. Still an enjoyable stay, and will be back.

Wonderful experience in historical hotel, but not worth for second time stay due to poor price quality ratio. Rooms were lacking luxury hotel level of maintenance, towels were not soft, pillows look cheap and very uncomfortable. One good thing to mention was the nice view big balcony, which makes this hotel unique to its class.

Crown Room brunch fabulous but only have valet and 30.00 an hour. Give you 1 hour. Pretty bad when brunch is 100 per person. Should comp your parking. They loose cause you dont want to walk around and shop with a 30.00 ticker hanging over your head per hour. Used to be able to seld park for 8.00. Bummer.

As far as a place to visit in Coronado, this is a great stop, cause I ain't even white enough to stay here and I'm from Virginia, to cold. I would be staying at the Villa Capri across the street. Parking is $70 a day inside the lot and $0.25 cent an hour across the street at a meter, no brainer. I loved walking the grounds and then touring the shops and lobby. The best view of the chandelier is from the 2nd floor.

I was impressed with the service of the staff of this hotel. They were very warm to guests, always smiling, and offering services. The receptionists will greet you with a smile and quickly accommodate you as soon as they see you approaching the front desk. What I like about this hotel is even if it's located across an airport, you can still sleep soundly. It has a free shuttle to some establishments nearby. Overall, we loved our stay at this hotel. I will definitely recommend this hotel to my relatives and friends.

Extremely disappointed. We arrived today and valet was not attentive. Had to wait while they were talking to other valet colleagues.

Staff were not welcoming. Checkin experience was flat. We have experienced much professional checkin experience with low end hotels.

Room was a big disappointment. Room was very totally different from what is shown in the website. Room smelled bad. Old stained carpet. When we opened the balcony for ocean view, we could not stand the smell and all we could see was trash dumpsters (although there was a partial ocean view). Room looked like cheap highway motel feeling.

Front desk did not move us to another room when approached. They told me they are sending the room service to take care of the smell. But no one showed up.

It s.a shame for this hotel to have such a high rating. Worst resort I have ever stayed and will not recommend. Especially for $600+ price.

Bathroom was dirty and un-hygienic with molds.
Will not ever come back to this place and will not recommend to anyone. Do not waste money and spoil your vacation.
