This was my first time at John & Ash. It was such a wonderful experience. Beautiful atmosphere, you can see the vineyard through the windows ...very romantic. The food was AMAZING! The Angus Filet melts in your mouth. The service was excellent and Christopher was so great to us. He gave us plenty of tips for fun and entertainment while we are in town. I highly recommend !

Visited in a Tuesday evening and warmly greeted and escorted to a covered outside table overlooking the herb garden and vineyard - beautiful! Our server was new, her first night , but friendly and professional as was the rest of the staff. Food was terrific. The halibut was moist with beluga lentils and fresh veggies. The special, a pork tenderloin with a wild mushroom risotto was delicious. Beet salad and the greens salad were lovely. We had the raspberry chocolate cake which was beautifully prepared with fresh berries and ice cream. The perfect end to a flawless dining experience. If I lived here, I would be a regular!

The view and atmosphere is nice but everything else was poor. The service was nice but extremely rushed. We attempted to take our time but even with drinks/appetizers/entrees our bill was at our table in less than 45 minutes. Our appetizer was decent but nothing extraordinary. I had the ribeye and my girlfriend had the ahi tuna. Both were terrible. The ribeye had little to no taste and was over cooked. Her ahi tuna looked like it had been sitting out for longer than we had been at the table.

We had heard great things but were very disappointed. The meal wasn't good let alone worth the $100.

Beautiful restaurant and location. Great for a romantic dinner. Food was high quality and made with care. Nothing wowed us though. The cheese cake was actually terrible but I ate it anyway. Cocktails were amazing. Service was very good. Price is a bit high. This was first time here for us. We would and likely will go back at some point but it won't be a must visit spot for us. 4 stars is primarily for the quality of food and service and atmosphere and not for how amazing the food tasted as it was only average for us.

Great selection of wines, wonderful setting and ambience, and a very pleasant summer evening dinner in the outdoor patio. The food was quite tasty but the portions somewhat small for the prices....three modest scallops for main course selection

The restaurant was ready for our party of 8 and provided outstanding service and food. They met my gluten free diet without a problem. Everyone in our group completely enjoyed the evening, the ambience, service and fantastic food!

Nice restaurant, good food and basic service.Carbon chunks over the meat and burnt skin of the beans, didn't make the taste nice and I tried to clean it away off the food with the knife. In addition, I hurt my teeth chewing a tiny piece of More

My grandparents took us here while we were visiting. The restaurant and gardens were beautiful. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was amazing. I had the brick chicken and can't stop thinking about it!

Very disappointed in the quality of the food. Presentation was lacking but the ambiance was very nice the service was okay and when I found out it was a Michelin restaurant I started laughing. This is no Michelin star restaurant not for foodies

Always yummy, and their happy hour is my favorite in Sonoma County. The food held up really well as takeout too- the fries were still crunchy when we got home 15 minutes later! And their Basil-Gin smash is delicious--highly recommended!

The locale could not be more pleasant - as one looks out onto the vines while sipping locally vinted wines and simply amazing food. I have a hard time calling food amazing, but this is the real deal. Ate there twice, both times service was top notch, wine amazing, food incredible.
Expect to pay over $100 for a table of two... but expect an amazing experience as well.
Kudos to the chefs and staff. You have delighted me.

For the reputation this place has, the halibut was fine but in no way exceptional. No character to the meal. The orchestrated service personnel service (how many does it take?) fell short of expectations.

The restaurant located right next to the vineyard with option of patio seating. The inside ambiance is quite dark and romantic, but outdoor seating is always better( the only negative is if they can have more staff would have made our dinning experience a higher notch). Great selections of appetizers and wines. You can also select chef menu as well.

Picked this restaurant from the positive reviews for a Thanksgiving meal reservation. We arrived about 15 before our reservation but were seated over 30 minutes later than our 8pm reservation time. Our table was very small and poorly located in the middle of foot traffic from wait staff and diners. The wait staff was friendly but they didn't remember our order (food or drinks, though it was prix fixe menu), forgot the amuse-bouche (the first course), forgot utensils, forgot coffee which came 15 minutes after dessert. Had to constantly flag down the wait staff to replenish drinks or check on the food delivery. For the top shelf price for the meal, the food was just OK. Nothing special. It is an average restaurant catering to a senior crowd, not the fine dining experience that I had been expecting from the reviews. I would rather have stayed home for a Netflix & Chill night.

I ve heard nothing but good things about this restaurant and this hotel. Met some coworkers here and shared several appetizers and a couple bottles of wine. It was a great atmosphere, the food was incredible and the wine list is impressive. LOVE that their drink menu is on an iPad. Can t wait to learn more about this place and schedule a tour of the entire facility. I ve heard they have a good happy hour, too. Awesome experience!

Excellent service and decore, with a very nice wine selection. While the food was very good, I felt that the preparation of the food was slightly off from what I would expect from the quality fo the restaurant. The lamb shank was overdone and several of the items that I got looked like an episode of Chopped - a bunch of random things that they were trying to get to work but just did not quite work.

I am still not sure why this restaurant has such mixed reviews but I guess I will find out more when I visit again. Order daily specials, some apps and the entree. The daily specials and the apps were quite impressive. The oyster was very fresh and well-shucked, and the salad was just right portion. The entrees were not as impressive as other dishes we tried, but still quite decent. But I can definitely see the quality of the food can vary depending on the timing of the visit, which may explain the mixed reviews on yelp.

Second time dining here. Ambience and location is great. HH service is too slow; unless you order drinks directly from the bar, expect to wait a while before getting your drink and food. I ordered the salmon dinner and it was dry, lentils were undercooked and crunchy. The lobster rice pilaf was yummy although my spouse said it could've been rendered down longer. Others at the table ordered the special: top sirloin with coffee crust, and it looked very thin, but they report delicious taste. Garden tomato salad was delicious! The main dining service was great: prompt, and professional.

Trendy refined looking place. Entree was pretty mediocre. Sausage over cooked, everything else was just food. Nothing mind blowing, I dont get the hype. Sonoma county must not have much experience with super amazing restaraunts.
Definately not worth the $$ or the reputation

i went back to john ash after a few years with some friends, wanting them to try the remembered extraordinary cuisine there. The service was outstanding as was the decor, but my meal was under par as were those of my companions; the Caesar salad had no bite to it nor did my pasta dish which was about the only thing for me to eat as a vegetarian not eating a lot of cheese. The presentation of the food was lovely, however. Now, I suggest working on taste. thanks for listening.
